Asia: SouthLetter of Intent - sample/format for K1
I found in Chennai US Consulate website the following additional requirement when compared with New Delhi Consulate:

"Statement concerning your intent to enter into a valid marriage with your fiancé/e within 90 days of your admission into the U.S. Complete."

Those who already went through the process, please post a format/copy etc. of this Letter of Intent ? Should this be done on a plain paper? What details are required to included in this statement?

Thanks

Hello people,

I'd like to connect with you all and share each other's cases and in general - Hold it together - cause the k1/cr1 can be very taxing especially living so far away.

Where are you all from? How did you meet? etc. etc.

I met her online while still in the US as a student. Came back to nepal to discover shes the one I want to spend my life with. :bonk:

Anyways, turns out you need to do this thing called K1 visa to be able to live together. Without research it felt like this should take a couple of months max. With research it turns out to take a bit more than half a year!

So I guess you'll be seeing me here for the next six months.

Hi

Asia: SouthInterview questions and documents!!!
One way to prepare for questions would be to read the Islamabad Consulate review page. Many people there have posted the questions they were asked at the interview. Make sure you and your partner are able to easily answer these questions in a clear, concise manner. Ask each other questions in general about each other, events in your lives, relatives, favorite things/habits, etc. Read the questions posted in those reviews and try to guess what the CO may focus on in your case. Think about possible red flags in the relationship and how to answer questions aimed at those areas in order to demonstrate a bonafide marriage. Don't count on having a long time to explain issues, so prepare quick, understandable answers for possible questions. Also, if you get a bad CO and interview doesn't go well, don't waste time arguing (never works) or asking them to look at something. They want you to leave and if you argue they will mention calling security. Instead, be cooperative and try to get specifics on your denial, or about their request for missing items. If it goes bad make sure you can leave fully understanding what happened and what the CO was thinking so you aren't left confused. Arguing just wastes the little time they may give you after they make a decision. You may not even notice they have a problem with something in your case until they say at the end that you are denied or missing something so try to hold back your surprise, frustration, anger, etc and stay calm.

As far as documents, they should have sent you a packet saying what exactly THEY want you to bring, but you should also bring proofs that may help against red flags/issues in your specific case. They may not look at any of those things, but with a good CO he/she will take time to look at those items and discuss them with you. So be prepared. Good luck, I really hope you get a good, fair CO!! Please don't forget to come back and tell us all what happened, update your timeline, and make a review of your interview/questions because it really helps everyone else on this site! Especially since everyone on the Pakistan Portal are desperate to hear about good interviews! Don't forget us if it goes well ;) :) (And we will help you if it goes bad) Again good luck!

You just need to get PCC from PSK.

You don't need to get another PCC from the other part of India you stayed at as long as you've stayed at your current place for more than 6 months.

There is a simple logic behind their refusal of accepting some of the co-sponsor at the instance of interview. According to my believe, what I actually think is that in some of the cases petitioner is totally dependent either on his/her parents or somebody else closer to the petitioner. In such a case he/she doesn't really have any reasonable income or job, in such a scenario it is highly rated that beneficiary's co-sponsor would probably be refused.
But if the Petitioner have a job and if he/she is just short of the 125% poverty line, may be some hundred or thousand dollars, and if in that case applicant use the co-sponsor then it is acceptable to the interviewer.
That is what I guess. Otherwise, there might be any other hypothetical reason behind this issue which I am unable to know. There might be any other one, but that is the one which I thinks.
Best of Luck.

They accepted mine without any problem.

Hello to all VJers..
I got a phone call from Islamabad embassy and they asked me to get the Original Birth Certificate. Now My wife had already sent them the original(Nadra)birth certificate to NVC and in the instruction package I received from NVC states that they have received my Original birth certificate with a sign "O". So what now, is that normal? Do I go to Nadra and get me another one made as i do have the photocopy of the previous one? I can get that done easily...and it only takes a day or two max to get it from Karachi Nadra office as my interview is on the 14th of this month. Please advise if there's something else I'm supposed to do. Thanks in advance

If someone has id card then there is no need for a form-B

And for people below the age of 18 you can get the new b-form which comes in both english and urdu from Nadra Office. If you choose to use their fast service then you should have it done with few days.

I think they asking for the Birth Certificate issued by KMC. If the birth was registered then there should be a Birth Certificate issued by KMC. You suppose to submit the KMC certificate to obtained the NADRA birth Certificate. If you already submitted the KMC birth Certificate to get NADRA Birth Certificate then go to KMC and get another copy re-issue and you can take it with you to the Embassy at the time of your interview (It will take 2 to 3 days to obtain from KMC).

I submitted both NADRA And KMC birth Certificates and still waiting to hear from NVC. My Wife case still at NVC and I am still waiting to hear from them to see if the case completed OR they ask for more documents.

Asia: SouthKarachi PCC question

Since I have a Pakistani ID with a Pakistani address on it, when my wife made a new id after our marriage, it showed her current residence at my address. Due to this change, when I went to get a Police clearance certificate for her, I was sent to my local SP office rather then hers, which means that her PCC will show my temporary address rather than hers. In addition, she has lived at muliple addresses in Karachi since the age of 16. Do I need a PCC from every district, or will just one suffice?

Hi Green Thumb,

I went through the same situation. After marriage my wife address changed to my parents address in Karachi and her name changed to my last name. Her passport was also made on my last name and shows my name as her Husband name. When She made her PCC they issued her PCC on her name which is on her Passport and they did mentioned her previous address where She lived before marriage (Her parents address) since her birth as she never live any other places since her birth to her marriage.

Now, in my case our Police District is same so 1 PCC issued on her Marriage name with both addresses on it. Even She asked Police Officer that she need 2 PCC, 1 on her Fathers name (Daughter of...) with her previous address and then on her marriage name (Wife of...) with current address but they refused and they stated that they make PCC every day for overseas and thats how they do and she don't need 2 PCC just 1 PCC will work with both adresses mentioned in the PCC with her time stamps and both addresses are on the same Police District East.

Now in your case, you did mentioned She has lived multiple addresses since age of 16 then you need to make sure each address was more then 6 months or not (if less then 6 months I think you don't need to get PCC for that address). When you go to the Police Station (I think you need to go their office on Shara-e-faisal to submit the Application for PCC and there they will tell you how to proceed on this request).

I am not a Lawyer OR in Depth knowledgeable like other VJ's here may be someone could give you more details on it.

Here is the link for PCC requirement for ISL Embassy.

Currently my Wife Documents are at NVC and they have no issue with her PCC. However I got an RFE to submit DS230 Part II as they didn't found in the package  Go figure out how that happened

Asia: SouthNADRA in Pakistan - I need a better understanding
Hi Asim,

I am not expert here but I will try to answer your Post as per my personal experience.

It is not necessary to have her passport name change from her maiden name to her marriage name.

It would be nice to have your name as her husband on her Passport which will be a positive thing on your case as it will be CR1 case of a US Citizen Spouse.

I did the same thing with my wife NADRA ID card & Passport. First, I had her changed her NADRA ID card on my name as her husband instead of her father name and also her last name changed to my last name (NADRA always changed last name to husband name once issued ID card after marriage).

1) You need to have your NADRA ID card as she will need your NADRA ID card copy and Nikah Nama (Marriage Certificate) to have her NADRA ID card change to your name and her last name to your name.

2) Once she will have her new NADRA ID card issued (make sure you request urgent service and it will cost more then regular service and she will get in a week) then she need to fill Passport application and she need to submit your NADRA ID card copy, Her new NADRA ID card copy, Nikah Nama (Marriage Certificate), her Parents NADRA ID card copies and Your Parents NADRA Card copies (They asked her at Passport office to my wife) and do it urgent and you will get it in 10 to 12 business days.

My wife passport was never made before so she made it first time. Her Police Certificate (PCC) also made on her marriage name (Pplice verifies info on the Passport of your wife and also from NADRA ID copy of her to make PCC) and both of her addresses before marriage and after marriage were showed in the PCC certificate (No PCC was made on her Maiden name).

Now,let me tell you that when I was there in Karachi after marriage I made my NICOP card from NADRA. So, in this way I don't have to get Pakistan Visa on a US Passport and I submitted my NADRA ID Card copy and US Passport copy and I did mentioned my US address for NICOP ID card and my NICOP ID card issued on the base of my Original Urdu NADRA ID Card.

I still have my Original Urdu NADRA ID card and NICOP card as they only asked for the copy of my NADRA ID card and return me back the Original Urdu NADRA ID card.

So, you are Citizen of Pakistan and US both (Pakistan and US both allow Dual Nationality) and you are born Pakistani so wherever you live you are still Pakistan Citizen and it is wrong that you are no more Pakistan Citizen.

Now it is up to you how you want to proceed.

Hope the info I provided will help you.

Asia: SouthKarachi PCC question
Problem is, my temp address is in Karachi central and hers is in Karachi East. I think I'll err on the side of caution and get two PCCs made.

It's bad enough when you have never lived in Pakistan and are at the mercy of others to get to know the system there, but it's even worse when the even the locals can't help you because they don't have experience either. Only way to learn how to get things done is through hard knocks.
