Asia: SouthGOT THE VISA on 9th!!! Got the Passport Stamped Today!!

Hey guys...sorry for updating after 2 days but haven't got net access.
But the good news is that I got the VISA at first go without been put in AP.

Here is the whole experience.
Got to embassy at 7:30 AM and after submitting the bag (you can't take any sort of bag with you as only plastic bags are allowed)
and the mobile phones (all electronic gadgets), took the ticket for shuttle service and got all ready for a ride to embassy.

At embassy known thing is about two lines one for immigrant visa and other for non-immigrant visa, went in immigrant one called upon
quickly as it wasn't too busy that day.
Fingerprints taken first then went to submit the interview letter, medical and passport to window#06.
From there I got a list of approved courier services in all cities of Pakistan with a Token stamped on it.

Waited...waited and just waited...but to my surprise it wasn't too bad, called after 2 hours on window#08.
And here the real game has started. White lady greeted with a smile.
Followed her with the Oath.

Questions:
1. Can you please hand me over the Original Urdu NikahNama.
2. How long have you been married.
3. How you two get to know each other and what was the connection led to the marriage.
3. How long you two stayed together after the ceremony.
4. Have she came down for a visit afterwards.
5. How exactly she acquired the citizenship.
6. How often you two talk.
7. Can you show me the pictures of the ceremony.

The only two things the Officer asked me was the Original Urdu NikahNama and the Ceremony Pictures.
No On-Going Relationship Evidences..No Invitation Card..No Receipts of any gifts exchanged or what-so-ever.

And then came those words which I certainly and honestly wasn't expecting because I already
developed my mind that at Islamabad Embassy there is no way a Male can get away without been
suffered through an AP.
But you know what she said.."Everything seems to be in Order and Congratulations you have been Approved
& you can get your Passport in 7 working days"..

Got a call today on 11th from AMEX to pick up my Passport..means got it in exactly 2 working days.
That's still unbelievable to me.

I have only one observation and that the Officer already made up her/his mind regarding your case
and the questions are just mere formality to make the process more authentic and formal.

Just wanna take a moments and praise ALL my folks here on Visa Journey for your extended and
kind support of all nature during my process and I wish ALL the very best for those who are in
AP and those too who are yet to experience the formality of Interview.

BEST OF LUCK GUYS.
KIND REGARDS.

Many Many Congratulations on your Approval. My Fiancee's interview is on the 18th of January, this coming Friday and I will be accompanying her. I have a couple of questions, firstly, how much was the shuttle fees, and secondly, did you notice any females who were having their interviews that day and if you did, how did it seem that their interviews went? I hope our interview goes as smoothly as yours went. Once again, Congratulations :)

Asia: SouthHow to get Police Certificate in Pakistan?
Hello,

Anyone know how to get PCC in Karachi? My wife tried to get it but they are asking for "Copy of Embassy's letter of institution". What the hell is that and how do I get it to show them?

Thanks!

now that's quiet strange..which city do you live in
I live in karachi & a friend offered me PCC at my doorstep
in 4000 approx. but I did that all on my own & the total expense
was about 3000 with all the efforts & time consumed...so I guess
find a connection & do it that way it saves u time as well

doing it on ur own isn't a good idea & I am telling you
because I did it...so go other way round..there must be some friend
of yours..

Karachi. I'm going to tell my wife to try again... maybe offer more Quaids.

Asia: SouthHelp please, NVC says they need a third marriage certificate
Here is the issue I am facing.

We sent in our IV form and all required documents. I received a checklist via email saying we need to provide our marriage certificate. The problem is we included the original marriage certificate (nikahnama) which was in Urdu plus an attested English translation. I called up NVC and the lady on the other line thoroughly confused me. She said the note on our account says NVC received the original Urdu marriage certificate and English translation but they need the nikahnama. What we sent is the nikahnama and marriage certificate -- they are one in the same. I explained this to the lady but she insists nikahnama and marriage certificate are two different things and if I sent the nikahnama then I still need to send the marriage certificate.

The issue is I have no bloody idea what she is talking about. The nikahnama is the marriage certificate for Muslims who get married in Pakistan.

What is going on? Anyone else face this same issue?

Thanks!

Asia: SouthCivil Documents Pakistani have to Submit for CR-1

Thanks for posting that comprehensive checklist and their responses! They haven't sent me the request for those documents yet but I wanted to go ahead and send it to my husband (who I've nominated as agent) so that he can send it immediately once they do and it can reach them quicker than it would from Pakistan. I just wanted to get all the possible documents together.

The NIC is the National Identity Card (Shanakhti Card) that NADRA issues Pakistani citizens. It's mentioned in their list of civil documents by country list. They might not ask for it in my case but I figured I would send it to my husband just in case.

What is the computerized Nikahnama? I just have the English version of the one from our actual nikah that has my signature and my husband's. All the information is hand-written by my wali (representative), signed by the Imam and bears the Registrar's stamp.

I have 3 original documents from Pakistan which prove my marriage:

1. Large sheet of paper in urdu(really low quality paper!) - this is known as the Nikah nama which you get from the Masjid/Imam. It has everyone's signatures obtained during the Nikah.

2. Large sheet of paper in English - also from the Masjid I got married at. You could also call this the Nikah Nama. This also has everyone's signatures obtained during the Nikah.

3. A4 sized document titled "Marriage Registration Certificate." This can be referred to as the 'computerized Nikah Nama.' To obtain this, you get a form from the local Union Council(UC) office, fill it out, and submit it along with copies of NIC/NICOPs of husband, wife, and the fathers of both, as well as a copy of the Urdu Nikah Nama.

Asia: SouthDoes Islamabad consulate check US Naturalization certificate?

if you have a US passport you should have a naturalization certificate . cant get a passport without it.

This is not correct. If you naturalized while you were under 18 years of age you would have only gotten your US Passport, not the Naturalization certificate. You need to submit form N-600 to the USCIS after turning 18 to get your naturalization certificate. It is NOT required for you to have a naturalization certificate. I had the I-130 approved for me with just the US Passport. The Islamabad Consulate will be satisfied with your US Passport as well. No worries on the Naturalization certificate.

Thanks

Rs. 1500 is average cost for Police Certificate in Punjab Once you have all the documents i suggest you mail everything directly to NVC from Pakistan to save money and time. DHL Express is pretty good service cost Rs.3800 Takes 3-4 Business days to deliver and you can track your package on there website. DONT FORGET TO MAIL THE COVER SHEET FROM NVC WHICH YOU SHOULD BE ABLE PRINT ON NVC PAYMENT PORTAL AFTER YOU PAY IV FEE

We haven't received the invoice for the IV fee yet (and on the payment portal too it doesn't give us the option to select it either). I know most people pay the AOS and IV fees around the same time but we didn't get this option. And NVC has told me twice already that until they process my DS3032 (they are saying 5-10 business days) they can't release the invoice for IV, which means we don't have the cover sheet. I have a feeling/I hope that by the time the Marriage Certificate comes through from NADRA we should be hearing back on the DS3032.

Computerized Nikkah Nama
Its Good to have it just in case they ask for it Fast Track Service IS Rs.1000 and you get the document in 4-5 bussiness days.

Thanks for letting me know! Honestly I wouldn't have found out otherwise until it was probably going to be too late/I would've been harassed by the Embassy. I called NADRA and they said in lieu of NICOP/NIC I could bring copies of my husband and father-in-law's American passport biodata page. I will definitely go with the fast track service.

Also btw, I am having the Police Certificate process 'fast-tracked' since the duration of time and steps the intelligence officer at my local thaana (police station) told me was absolutely ridiculous. It involved going to 4 different police offices for no reason and he said it could take between 10 days to 1 month and that it's NOT free. Didn't bother to get a quote. Contacted someone I know who said they'd get the job done in two business days for Rs. 3500 and all I had to do was give him the form, passport pictures, passport copy and NIC copy and he'd handle the rest. I hate giving these guys money but I figured the gas/money I'd spend going to all these different offices will probably amount to the same if not more so went with it.

Both my husband and father-in-law don't have NICs/NICOP cards. They only have American passports. I don't even think my father-in-law has his old Pakistani passport since he relinquished his citizenship. Will this be a problem for my visa? Or will the original English nikahnama suffice?

So here's a list of the documents I intend to mail to my agent (husband) next week, as soon as the Police Certificate comes through. I thought it would be a good idea for my husband to have them in hand so that as soon as we receive an email about submitting the DS-230/Packet IV he can mail it immediately and they can receive it quicker than they would if I were to mail it from Pakistan.

1) Original Birth Certificate
2) Original Nikahnama (English)
3) Police Certificate(s)*
4) Two 2x2 photographs
5) Copy of NIC^
6) Copy of Passport Biodata Page^

*It says on the NVC website that you have to submit these from all the areas/districts you've lived in since the age of 16. I'm submitting two police certificates, since I lived in a different part of Karachi between ages 16-19 and then in my current residence on and off from 19-25. It might've been okay to just submit one from my current address but I didn't want them to create issues/cause delays in the process based on my address in my older passports etc.
^ I'm submitting both color and b&w copies to be on the safe side, since the quality of the pictures they take for the NIC and Passport is so terrible.

Is this list complete? Is there anything I'm missing?

A few other questions/concerns:

a) Is it recommended to submit original copies of the Nikahnama and Birth Certificate or would it be better to submit attested photocopies? The reason I'm thinking of submitting the originals is that they seem to ask for them on their website and I don't want them to unnecessarily draw the process out by asking for originals later. But I am also concerned about NVC/the Embassy losing my originals. Would like to hear people's recommendations.

b) Is the Nikahnama and Marriage Certificate the same thing? A little confused about this since I was reading another post in the Regional section where someone mentioned that the Embassy asked them to bring their original 'Nikahnama' despite them having submitted their original 'Marriage Certificate'.

c) So I've lived in the U.S. for four years on a student visa between 2006-2010, and then six months (legally) with my husband from January 2012-July 2012. Any other documents I would need to submit considering I've lived in the U.S. before especially during college years?
Not
d) Do I need to submit a copy of my biodata page from my old passports? When I applied for a visit visa last year I only submitted my current passport and was contacted by AmEx after to submit the older ones since the Embassy required them. Not sure if the same is true for immigrant visas.

No, I typed it up myself and signed it and sent it to her, that's all. What's "afghani-FEDERAL" paperwork? Does such a thing even EXIST?
She was Pakistani, I am Pakistani Afghani. She lived there and I was and am a citizen of Canada. I don't think it matters what the nationalities are nor does it matter if I am in Canada or the USA. At the end the process of marrying in and divorcing in Pakistan/Karachi are all the same. That's where my issue is. Thnx

don't forget, can also count bank deposits to offset the difference.

I know the I-134 doesn't really list instructions, but in the end, the rules and guidelines given in the I-864 and I-864P are whats used to determine the ceilings for the I-134.

I say take a day or two, study the instructions with the I-864 and I-864P, and refactor your plan a bit.

Seriously, take the time.

Going through an imam is never required - it's a service that he performs to his community and mosque.

the imam records it in a book when it's done.
There's some stuff he'll do , when requested by you or your ex, to get the divorce recognized at a FEDERAL level with the government in Pakistan. Get that done? You can use the divorce decree elsewhere.

It really is that easy, and there's no 'current' date - it would have been the date that the imam recorded it in his book.

Once recorded, and forgotten about (for example), you could call him today and he'll handle the rest of the paperwork, using the recorded date from his book.

So, you not use an Imam at a mosque.. Ok.. I get it -
but -
if you have no intention of immigrating to the USA, why are you posting on a website that focuses SOLELY on immigration into the USA?

Seriously, if that paperwork went through an Imam, at all, he can help you with the Pakistani-Federal level divorce decree.
You need an official government-issued divorce decree , that's what the USCIS and DoS looks for.

Since you're NOT immigrating to the USA, and are seeking this paperwork for Canada, you might want to find a Canada-specific immigration web portal.

I don't troll here at VJ. Ask anyone.

So your dad made exactly the same amount as you? He doesn't make enough for his own household, let alone sponsoring anyone.
Do you have a job lined up for after graduation? If so, it may be worth delaying the interview a few weeks so you have some paystubs from a new, well paying job.

Last year you only made 15'000 and you supported two kids too? You must be great at budget management!
You have three options:
- take a better/ second job. There may not be time for that.
- Do you have any assets? You can use savings, a second car or a 401K to help make up the shortfall.
- Get a co-sponsor.
