Asia: SouthCivil Documents Pakistani have to Submit for CR-1
Rs. 1500 is average cost for Police Certificate in Punjab Once you have all the documents i suggest you mail everything directly to NVC from Pakistan to save money and time. DHL Express is pretty good service cost Rs.3800 Takes 3-4 Business days to deliver and you can track your package on there website. DONT FORGET TO MAIL THE COVER SHEET FROM NVC WHICH YOU SHOULD BE ABLE PRINT ON NVC PAYMENT PORTAL AFTER YOU PAY IV FEE

Both my husband and father-in-law don't have NICs/NICOP cards. They only have American passports. I don't even think my father-in-law has his old Pakistani passport since he relinquished his citizenship. Will this be a problem for my visa? Or will the original English nikahnama suffice?

Computerized Nikkah Nama
Its Good to have it just in case they ask for it Fast Track Service IS Rs.1000 and you get the document in 4-5 bussiness days.

I was reading another thread where Pakistani members were discussing computerized marriage certificate from NADRA.

Is it ok to submit birth certificate issued by NADRA? I believe most birth certificates are issued by Hospitals/Union council. Has anyone used only NADRA documents in immigration process?

Hi Guys,

Any body who experienced for AOS i485 status. After case submission in mid of Jun,2012 at USCIS and later there forwarded to CSC. My question is how long its take for the interview or visa with out interview.

Thanks in advance for your reply

Once your file has been forwarded to CSC, most of the time you will not get any interview. The approval or waiting period may take shorter or longer. It varies.

well i didnt pay anything for police certificate. I guess money you guys paid for the certificate went straight to their pockets.

Sadly, this is a common occurrence back there :/

One only needs passport photos and their NIC card to get a police certificate, right?

Asia: SouthQuick question

I was also in the same predicament at the time, But I opted not to go because there really is no need. If they dont ask you to be pressent there is no reason to be present. Unless you as an individual think it is imparative to be at the interview to possibly clear up some sort of complication or confusion with your case. Its really up to you! but in short to say CAN YOU BE AT THE INTERVIEW? the answer is YES.... but should you be there? I heard of a few horror stories of people who accompanied there spouce/fiance and they were put in AP. I did not go because my case was pretty simple and strait forward.

Couldn't agree more with sn530, and also they will do most of the questioning to the USC spouse and less to the applicant. However, it's still not all that bad and luck plays a major role as well. Good luck.

Many Many Congratulations on your Approval. My Fiancee's interview is on the 18th of January, this coming Friday and I will be accompanying her. I have a couple of questions, firstly, how much was the shuttle fees, and secondly, did you notice any females who were having their interviews that day and if you did, how did it seem that their interviews went? I hope our interview goes as smoothly as yours went. Once again, Congratulations :)

Thanks heaps bro. wasn't expecting it though..
Now they are taking a flat rate for Shuttle which is Rs.500/person
but ya there was one girl called before me & co-incidentally
we both had our medical done at same hospital on same day
at Karachi so kinda knew her before..
she was asked very briefly n precisely I should say
few normal n formal questions about her husband n
then she was told you are approved..
so don't stress specially when as a US Citizen you are joining
her for the interview..added bonus for the beneficiary!!

All I can say is be optimistic and sure about your relationship..that's it!!

Hey guys...sorry for updating after 2 days but haven't got net access.
But the good news is that I got the VISA at first go without been put in AP.

Here is the whole experience.
Got to embassy at 7:30 AM and after submitting the bag (you can't take any sort of bag with you as only plastic bags are allowed)
and the mobile phones (all electronic gadgets), took the ticket for shuttle service and got all ready for a ride to embassy.

At embassy known thing is about two lines one for immigrant visa and other for non-immigrant visa, went in immigrant one called upon
quickly as it wasn't too busy that day.
Fingerprints taken first then went to submit the interview letter, medical and passport to window#06.
From there I got a list of approved courier services in all cities of Pakistan with a Token stamped on it.

Waited...waited and just waited...but to my surprise it wasn't too bad, called after 2 hours on window#08.
And here the real game has started. White lady greeted with a smile.
Followed her with the Oath.

Questions:
1. Can you please hand me over the Original Urdu NikahNama.
2. How long have you been married.
3. How you two get to know each other and what was the connection led to the marriage.
3. How long you two stayed together after the ceremony.
4. Have she came down for a visit afterwards.
5. How exactly she acquired the citizenship.
6. How often you two talk.
7. Can you show me the pictures of the ceremony.

The only two things the Officer asked me was the Original Urdu NikahNama and the Ceremony Pictures.
No On-Going Relationship Evidences..No Invitation Card..No Receipts of any gifts exchanged or what-so-ever.

And then came those words which I certainly and honestly wasn't expecting because I already
developed my mind that at Islamabad Embassy there is no way a Male can get away without been
suffered through an AP.
But you know what she said.."Everything seems to be in Order and Congratulations you have been Approved
& you can get your Passport in 7 working days"..

Got a call today on 11th from AMEX to pick up my Passport..means got it in exactly 2 working days.
That's still unbelievable to me.

I have only one observation and that the Officer already made up her/his mind regarding your case
and the questions are just mere formality to make the process more authentic and formal.

Just wanna take a moments and praise ALL my folks here on Visa Journey for your extended and
kind support of all nature during my process and I wish ALL the very best for those who are in
AP and those too who are yet to experience the formality of Interview.

BEST OF LUCK GUYS.

Such affidavits are not required and carry very little weight if you choose to include them.

You best evidence is that of time spent together in-person.

Thanks for the info. I have my mother and sister there but if this process is a hassle, I dont want them to go through this. If they live in islamabad then its not much of hassle.. Elsewhere yes its very inconvenient.. Unfortunately embassy doesnt help its own citizens who send 1000000$ a year and thats how our country is running . Sad but ture they havent done anything for overseas pakistanis

I applied for the NICOP here in NYC Consulate, so to get the Machine Readable Passport. Does anyone know how long its taking these days to process the application? Website says 8-10 weeks, and there is no way to expedite. On top of this, the email notification says the online tracker will not work for at least a month after the filing - I doubt it will work at all.

I know that American Express is a credit card, but in Islamabad the courier that handles sending stuff to and from the US Counsulate is also called American Express.

I also thought that American Express wouldnt take his passport, but they did. I'm worried now. He said the people at Amex told him he needed to send it. This is a normal K-1 visa, I didnt read in anyone else's experience that their passport was taken at Amex. If anyone else has experienced this. :(

Asia: SouthDoes Islamabad consulate check US Naturalization certificate?
when you file i-130 you suppose to attach documents proving that you are US citizen, if you did't send one, they might not approve your i-130 but if you sent your US passport with your i-130 that might be enough. you should check your i-130 instructions to see if they take US passport instead of the certification. I also became US citizen because i was under 18 and parent was citizen....But i do have that certification, it was given to me at the time i became citizen. I did sent that with i-130 and my US passport. I am not 100 % sure ( check i-130 instructions to be sure) but i believe the law said that you (petitioner) need to prove the US citizenship by providing the certification or the US passport.

Please let us know what you find after reading the instructions from i-130 form.
