You mother in law will not get any birth cert in Pak, since she born before pakistan born.

You can do following and will work in NVC, I have done for my father. I went to the the office and I told them that my father didnt born in present country and I need a letter stated that no birth cert available for him, since no record available. They print out a letter and stamped on it. Then we got 2 affidavit from people/family like his age saying that we know him and his birth day is xyz.. Just tell true B-day as on education/ ID card has it. This will work 100.

Please read I-130 instarctions... read and read.

Asia: SouthWhen to obtain police clearance?

yes i agree with you... ive got one pcc from other city i lived in and its only valid for 3 months and prolly expire before even getting to NVC lol! so when should i start collecting PCC? when my 1-130 noa2 is approved? how much time do we have to get all that any deadlines given my NVC or any instructions?

My husband decided to gather his PCC about 2 weeks after our NOA 2. You guys can do the same. After you get the NOA 2 or once it reaches the NVC. NVC really does not have any deadlines for when you have to submit your documents, it goes in this order:

NVC receives your case (might take them a few weeks after receiving your case to issue an NVC case # and IIN)
Get NVC case # and IIN
As soon as you gt NVC case #, you can decide to EMAIL the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) to NVC or choose to wait for them to send you the snail-mail version (personally, I would advise email, that's what we did).
Your AOS (I-864) bill will be invoiced (you can check on the website when you get to this part). Pay it, wait for it to say PAID. Send in the documents required.
After your DS-3032 is accepted, your IV (also known as DS-230 packet) bill will be invoiced, pay it, wait for it to show PAID. Send in the DS-230 documents (this is where your PCC will be required).
Once AOS and IV packets are processed and accepted, your case is complete at NVC and in line for an interview date.

That is a rough pathway as to how it works when you get to the NVC. So, the estimated time you spend at the NVC varies depending on your case. But, going back to my point, just don't get the PCC now because it most likely will be of no use by the time you get to mailing in the DS-230 documents. Read my timeline, you might get an estimate as to how long we're spending our time at the NVC. I hope that helped. :)

better get it now.. you'll never know, a twist of fate and your process will speed up. avoid all the last minute hassles. just saying :innocent:

Please, do not give information that has no factual basis. You are telling the OP to get a PCC which will probably expire and they will have to re-do the entire PCC again. And please read my previous post on this topic.

Asia: SouthWhen to obtain police clearance?

I was wondering as we are going to file i-130 should we get police clearance certificates now? Or when petition is approved and case forwarded to nvc? How much time do we get to send pcc to nvc?

Firstly, :time: . The person above mentioned getting everything now, NO. Don't do that. If your case has not been even approved yet by the USCIS, there is a chance if you get the PCC this early, it will expire. If your PCC will be from Pakistan, I think it is only valid for 6 months for spouse. http://travel.state.....html?cid=9713. That's the link to check how long your PCC will last. If you do end up getting your PCC now, and it takes over 6 months to get to the interview itself, they will ask you to get a new unexpired PCC.

Frankly speaking, wait until your case gets to the NVC, then prepare for the PCC. There is a chance you may get lucky and make your way through the WHOLE process (USCIS, NVC, and Embassy) under 6 months, but that is HIGHLY unlikely.

Otherwise, if you want to prepare the documents for NVC such as I-864 (Affidavit of Support) documents or the DS-230 forms, marriage certificate, any divorce decrees (if applicable)...those things are OK to be gathered now. But, I would suggest you refrain from getting a PCC now.

Asia: SouthKathmandu - Letter of no Objection.

Yeah.

I just did that.

Set up an appointment with the US Consulate. Choose 'Request notarial and other services not listed above' option, select your date.

On the day of the appointment, the citizen needs to go with their US passport, and $50. It will take you 15 minutes and you have your Affidavit of eligibility to marry notarized from the Consulate.

Take this letter and go to your CDO office to file for marriage. Just remember, in Nepal, the marriage application will remain for a mandatory 15 days before they give you the certificate. Plan ahead.

Good luck!

Thank you Sir,

I made the appointment couple days ago. What is it exactly, what do they write? How do they verify if I am eligible to marry or not? The reason i ask is because when i called the local county/district they had no idea what it was :) and how to get it.

Any Pakistani applicants having experience with this?

1. How long it usually takes for them to schedule an interview or send the documents to U.S. Embassy in Islamabad?
2. Do they notify the petitioner/beneficiary through e-mail or snail mail ... and is packet 4 included in that email? (since Pakistan is not on the electronic processing list).
3. After the notification, how many days approximately do we have till interview?
4. How many days before the interview date the medical should be done and how many days the medical clinic / hospital usually takes to bring the report back to you?

They are in KHI. Oh well.

On the topic of not treating their citizens well, I agree. As soon as I entered the NYC consulate, which is located at one of the most expensive area of the city, I could feel that I was in a different place. The doors are unpainted, door knobs broken and jammed and worst of all, they did not have heater on the floor where all the applicants come to. There was an air condition blowing room air temrature which was odd. The receptionist, like everyone else working there, was wearing winter (furr) jacket, with her hands in her pockets. And the temperature these days was -3C.

In a room where they were processing Passport application, a gentlemen sitting on a desk had a name plate 'Manager', was reading Jang News, while the room was full of applicants waiting to get their applications reviews.

Asia: SouthSpouse appears for interview while pregnant

The embassy doesn't have a reason to intentionally delay her visa because of pregnancy. If a USC's child is born abroad, he is eligible to receive US citizenship. You would have to file a CRBA (more work for them) and possibly do a DNA test. From what you have posted, it sounds like there is a good chance she will already be in the US before the due date. If she is 1-3 months pregnant right now and it takes 1 more month to schedule her interview, then you have room for 4-6 months of AP before she shouldn't be flying on a plane anymore (about 4 weeks before the due date) Starting at 28 weeks most airlines want to see a doctor's note saying she is OK to fly. The embassy will not speed up her processing due to her pregnancy either, but I think you have a enough time.

Do they need the original certificate?
my husband has something which is not actually birth certificate but i think registration certificate from Karachi since he was born there.

will they accept that??

if not where will he get his birth certificate or certified copy? keep in mind he cannot go to Karachi which is the problem here. we don't have any relatives in Karachi and he have never been to karachi after childhood. What other options do we have. Does NADRA issue birth certificates in other Punjab states for someone born in other area of Pakistan?

Hello/Namaste,

On the I-129F I've listed my home address as the address of the physical building I'm living in. However we never get any mail at this address because our post delivery service is not too reliable. Most of the mail I get is at a GPO for my office.

I am worried that when my NOA2 comes and the NVC sends me a package to my home address, it will get lost in the mail and lead to delays in our already long (perceived) wait. Its only been a month since I applied, but judging from comments and statistics, I can expect another 5 months before I get my NOA2.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation or can dispense advice for mine?

Asia: SouthGOT THE VISA on 9th!!! Got the Passport Stamped Today!!

Hey guys...sorry for updating after 2 days but haven't got net access.
But the good news is that I got the VISA at first go without been put in AP.

Here is the whole experience.
Got to embassy at 7:30 AM and after submitting the bag (you can't take any sort of bag with you as only plastic bags are allowed)
and the mobile phones (all electronic gadgets), took the ticket for shuttle service and got all ready for a ride to embassy.

At embassy known thing is about two lines one for immigrant visa and other for non-immigrant visa, went in immigrant one called upon
quickly as it wasn't too busy that day.
Fingerprints taken first then went to submit the interview letter, medical and passport to window#06.
From there I got a list of approved courier services in all cities of Pakistan with a Token stamped on it.

Waited...waited and just waited...but to my surprise it wasn't too bad, called after 2 hours on window#08.
And here the real game has started. White lady greeted with a smile.
Followed her with the Oath.

Questions:
1. Can you please hand me over the Original Urdu NikahNama.
2. How long have you been married.
3. How you two get to know each other and what was the connection led to the marriage.
3. How long you two stayed together after the ceremony.
4. Have she came down for a visit afterwards.
5. How exactly she acquired the citizenship.
6. How often you two talk.
7. Can you show me the pictures of the ceremony.

The only two things the Officer asked me was the Original Urdu NikahNama and the Ceremony Pictures.
No On-Going Relationship Evidences..No Invitation Card..No Receipts of any gifts exchanged or what-so-ever.

And then came those words which I certainly and honestly wasn't expecting because I already
developed my mind that at Islamabad Embassy there is no way a Male can get away without been
suffered through an AP.
But you know what she said.."Everything seems to be in Order and Congratulations you have been Approved
& you can get your Passport in 7 working days"..

Got a call today on 11th from AMEX to pick up my Passport..means got it in exactly 2 working days.
That's still unbelievable to me.

I have only one observation and that the Officer already made up her/his mind regarding your case
and the questions are just mere formality to make the process more authentic and formal.

Just wanna take a moments and praise ALL my folks here on Visa Journey for your extended and
kind support of all nature during my process and I wish ALL the very best for those who are in
AP and those too who are yet to experience the formality of Interview.

BEST OF LUCK GUYS.
KIND REGARDS.

Congratulations!!!

I'm guessing you are the citizen?

They just check if you've been married before (in the US). Fortunately, for them, all information is conveniently stored in databases so they can access that really quick. If you were previously married, then they might ask for your divorce papers. Some states make you wait an arbitrary number of months before you are deemed eligible to marry.

They will also indulge you in idle talk like "when did you meet", etc etc.

The local county/district is generally clueless about a lot of stuff ;) But you will find that our for yourself soon enough my friend ;)

All the best, and happy married life. Remember, after 15 days, you need 3 nepali citizenship card holders to vouch that you got married.

Cheers.

Hello and Namaste,

It has been a while since we went through this process, but I remember my husband's Packet 3 got lost in the mail in Kathmandu. Not sure if the process is the same now (probably), but after your NOA2, the petition goes to NVC and they send it on to the US Consulate in KTM. The US Consulate then sends out Packet 3 to the Nepali fiance(e), which contains the forms that the Nepali fiance(e) needs to fill out, including a visa application.

I am the USC (well, we both are now, but then it was me). I followed our timeline and so I knew when the petition left the NVC on its way to Kathmandu. When Packet 3 didn't arrive at my fiance's house within a few weeks, he went to the Consulate and they gave him a new Packet 3. Apparently the first one they sent out to his mailing address got lost in the mail. He even found out it went to his VDC headquarters, but they apparently tossed it. As you know, anything addressed to anywhere other than a GPO post box is at high risk of being lost. Anyhow, when he had finished all the paperwork, he hand-carried it back to the Consulate and they told him to come back the next day for an interview! You will probably not experience that kind of speed, but I don't think the wait is long.

Now that there is online tracking of case status, you may find it easier to figure out when your petition leaves NVC and approximately when you should get Packet 3. Keep in mind that once it leaves NVC, it is under the purvue of the Department of State (another agency that does NOT offer online case status, as far as I know).

My story is just a long way of telling you that you need to track your case as best you can, and may need to pick up and deliver your paperwork at the Consulate in Kathmandu to make sure nothing gets lost.

Good luck and Subhakamana!

Maya

Namaste!

Thank you for the nice explanation. I was previously going for K1, but..... we got married along the way :) so now I switched over to CR1. The problem with Kathmandu mail still a valid issue for us so I will email the consulate to see if I can go pick it up instead (WHEN it arrives).

Happy to see you are finished with the process (long time ago, if I may add). I hope the Consular Officers will be nice in the interview :)

I am the beneficiary.

Cheers!
