Asia: SouthPakistani national needing UK Police Certificate question

Hi

If he returning for interview purpose my get it from their otherwise its big hassle to order it from Pakistan
He just need to pay some extra £ its come in 10 days (£35 for normal & £70 for urgent) not sure exact figure. When I requested in london its come in a week time. Its valid for 6 months so its better to made it before request from US embassy.

Thanks for the infor francengland.  My concern was what I read on the US dept. of State:

You must submit police certificates which:

  • Cover the entire period of the applicant?s residence in that area
  • Have been issued by the appropriate police authority

I'm concerned they will make us re-do the police certificate if it doesn't include the entire time he was in the UK.  They didn't give you any problems getting the certificate before you left the UK?

Asia: SouthPakistani national needing UK Police Certificate question

My fiance is currently in the UK and will be returning to Pakistan within 2 months to hopefully interview.  We have heard different things about getting his police Cert. in the UK.  Can he get it soon before he returns to Pakistan (which is much easier for us) or is it best to wait and request the UK Police Certificate after he has left the country so it will cover the entire time he was there?

I appreciate any advice you can give us.

Nadia

To be honest, it is better for the UK interview, because Islamabad has a reputation for AP, and long wait. At least the UK can communicate with you guys, Islamabad would not.

Unfortunately we can't get him a visa pack to UK to interview so it is not an option.  Our only choice was Islamabad or Karahci and he is closer to Islamabad.

Where is your fiance currently living?

He was in the UK when we applied, but we put down that we wanted to interview in Pakistan (he is Pakistani).  He is now in Pakistan and I doubt he'd get a visa in time to go back to the UK to interview.

What ... That's strange how can they transfer to London instead of Islamabad ..

We put his current address in the UK as they asked when we originally filed, but requested that they send to Islababad as he would be back in Pakistan before we could interview.

Hello,

Has anyone had to request a change of Embassy?  Our K1 visa petition went to London instead of Islamabad.  We requested a transfer of our case with Islamabad and recieved an email back stating that they recieved our request about 1 month ago.  I know it can take some time to get the file actually transferred, but I'm wondering if anyone can let us know how long it took them to find out if Islamabad was even willing to transfer their file.   We will have to re-apply if they won't transfer so we don't want to waste a lot of time if there's little to no chance of the transfer going through.

Asia: SouthPolice Certificate Questions

I was wondering if anyone can share their experience with police certificates from countries that the DOS say they don't need it.

For Pakistan on the DOS site it says the following:

"Police Records

Not available. Pakistan has no nationwide tracking system in place for criminal activities. Police Character Certificates are available for a fee from District Coordinating Offices. However, they are not an accurate reflection of an individual's criminal record. An applicant who has committed a crime in one district may be able to obtain a clean Character Certificate from that district or another. Given the inaccuracy of these certificates, they are not required for consular processing." (http://travel.state....5.html?cid=9713)

1. Would the person at the interview make it a big issue? How do you support that, do i just print the page that says it? Because I know people can get them.... but if its not required does it matter? Worth wasting the time/effort?

2. How long are the police certificates valid for in the eyes of the embassy?

3. When would I need to have police certificates by? Do I need them by the time Packet 3.5 arrives, the medical, or the interview?

Thanks for your help guys!

I noticed that the new packet 3.5s that go to the embassy no longer include the petitioner and beneficiary to submit a letter of intent signed within 30 days of interview.

are most people still supposed to take that just to be safe or is it safe to assume that it's no longer needed?

Not that I am not thrilled with all your guys' help, but who would you suggest I call to ask specific questions, that I could refer back to if the information turns out wrong? The USCIS? Or somewhere else? And if you have contact information for them, that would be SO lovely. Thank you all in advance!

I am going through the same BS. US embassy in Islamabad is the worst of embassies I know so far.

It looks like a Bangali embassy in pakistan rather than the US.

I have sent my package 3.5 on October 8th, hoping that I will hear from them in a week or two. But after emailing them several times, they insisted on only receiving the documents on October 20th. It's not that we were sending it through usual mail, they were sent through their courier, Speedex/American Express.  I don't how can all of that be possible. Can't make sense of it to tell you the truth.

Hello Naina and Sam,

Thank you for your reply. If you call and try to ask status, they tell you send us an email, then they don't reply email either. I'm going to email them daily until i get an answer.

So frustrating.. I don't know what good it will do to call DoS, they will tell you to call embassy anyway. The case is in ISB's hands.

Thanks,

Hello,

I'm need a some advice. We received our NOA2 and then embassy sent us the 3.5 package via email. We responded on September 8. After three weeks I emailed them that we haven't heard from them since we mailed the 3.5 package. Their respond came next day that they haven't received our package yet and if you sent it, please send us airway bill number. I traced it from courier to embassy, they received and signed it on the the 9th. I Sent them three emails with airway bill number/receiving number but they are not responding anymore.

What should I do, my petition will expire in January 2014.

Police Certificates - ACPO Criminal Records Office

www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx

ACRO is the only authority to issue you police certificate in UK which is acceptable for US visa & US Embassy.

They issue you whatever date you mention its start from their and till the current date.

The main thing they check either any fraudulent or criminal activity record from concerned person.

So it's totally up to you guy's whenever you decide you can order it they ask for some relevant documents also.

Oh ok.. The NOA2 is been delayed as of late but hopefully that wouldnt be the case with you.. However, come mid august, do an additional thing..You can go fill out the online application to complaint about that your case has been delayed etc if its been delayed to the uscis ombudsman (links below).. if you have an attorney, have them call the USCIS regularly or call em yourself. The beneficiary cannot call USCIS without the petitioner's verbal permission and ask for the case status update. So if you are the applicant/petitioner, then try that too..

You can read more about it from here..
(this is part of the US Department of Homeland Security)..

Also, I don't know if you or your fiance are Muslims.  But if he is and you're not there might be some problem with you two being allowed to marry.  I know Muslim women aren't allowed to marry non-Muslim men - especially if the man is a Christian or Jew.  I think for men though it might not be a problem.

No, it wasn't bad.  To tell you the truth, I wasn't looking forward to being in Pakistan!  It was much, much nicer being in Dubai.  And it was very cool that she could be there too and see a modern western-style country for the first time in her life!

The original plan was to visit Pakistan and get married then start the process of filing the Visa I-30 form, but sense I can't even get my foot through door on getting a Tourist/Visitor visa for Pakistan.

I had a feeling that's one reason why the consulate wanted the affidavit, because of safety issues. The option of meeting in another country sounds more appealing.  As far as places like Dubai, I have heard there are a lot of Pakistani nationals that live and work there, how hard was it for your wife to get a UAE visa?

UltimeciaNot Telling012/21/2013 10:39
Asia: SouthApplying for Pakistani visa

Good luck!  I tried to get a visa, but was denied - due to the fact that my fiance lives in a relatively dangerous area and they were apparently concerned about my safety (hard to believe), and also due to the fact they don't want single men coming over to visit single women!  THEY'RE CRAZY!

We ended up having to meet in a country that we both could get into easily.  There are so few countries in the world that an American and a Pakistani can get into easily.  But some of the Persian Gulf countries like Oman, Qatar and the UAE are pretty decent.  We ended up going to the UAE.

Gosh, that sucks.  Though to be quite honest, I have thought about that option.

In Pakistan if you want anything done in a timely manor they need to appear in personsmile.png

Im not sure who he would talk to in department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs but im sure he can find out if he asks around.

when you applied did you give a letter from the company you work with showing your employed and answer the question of who is financial responsible as yourself showing your capable of it?

if you didnt do that those are the only reasons i know of for them to ask for a affidavit of support from the Pakistan side.

sara

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, the Pakistani Consulate did ask for an employment letter and I supplied that.  I also supplied the Letter of Invitation from the individual whom I'll be staying with for the duration of my stay in Pakistan. The consulate is telling me he needs to provide an affidavit of support in order for them to process my visa application.

Hi guys, hopefully someone can provide some insight into this.  I'm in the process of applying for Pakistani visa to visa my close friend whom I've known for several years.  I've been asking around but haven't gotten any real advice.  My situation is that I applied for a visa to Pakistan and I provided all the information they asked for (his ID, Letter of Invitation, etc.) however I received a message from the consulate informing me that my friend (since I'll be staying with him for the duration of my trip) will need to provide an affidavit of support. In order for him to get this affidavit, he has to obtain it from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.

I do understand why they're asking for this affidavit. The consulate just wants to be sure that I'll be safe.  But I spoke with him recently and he doesn't know how to go about getting this affidavit.  I'm wondering, is there anyone specifically he has to contact, or does he have to appear in person?  Any info would be helpful. Thanks a bunch. biggrin.png

Asia: SouthK-1 Visa Checklist

Its been a while so I think I should updated this..

After you receive your second Notice from Embassy, through EMAIL (and then AMEX or whomever you used to submit Documents) will call you to pick up the Appointment Letter.

Step:1:

Get the Medical Done -- Go the Medical Facility that is approved by the Embassy (you can google it too) and call them to take an appointment. it will roughly cost you about 6,000 PKR and then haev your medical done. Once its done, you will be given a sealed envelope within a day or 2. if you live out of town then they can mail it to you as well (you pay the courier cost).

Step 2: get all the documents ready that they have asked for in the appointment letter.

INTERVIEW DATE:

Get there early and take the shuttle service. They charge 500 PKR for each person.

You get into line outside the Embassy and then a kiosks is placed outside where you tell your name and show them your passport and a token is given. Then they let you in the main building. After going thru Embassy security, you are to sit and wait for your bio-metrics to be done. Once that is done, you are taken to the interview Hall where again, your number is called and then go the counter 1 to submit your documents.

After that, you sit and wait for your interview. Once your number is called, you first go into a cashier's window to pay the fee (for K-1, you have to pay it there) and then they direct you to meet the consular/Visa Officer.

They take your interview -- what ever questions they may ask you, answer honestly. After that, they may tell you that they have to process few things (meaning AP - Admin processing, that doesnt have a timeline). They MAY or MAY NOT give you a BLUE/GREEN/PINK/YELLOW slip. This is all and then you leave..

You can then check the status of your case online and email them after 2 months, if you havent heard by then.

Then Wait and Pray..

I think when my attorney called them they told that because of the dream act that President Obama had signed, they are overloaded with work and hence the back log. The other thing is that the actual process to approve the petition is for few weeks only.. sometimes, your file may get lost behind other files.. so keep calling them every other week and talk to the tier 2 officer and have them tell you the details on your case so a reminder always pulls out your file form the bottom of the stack..

I hope you didnt or dont get RFE (Request for More information)..

No, i havent had my interview yet.. waiting on the consulate to send me the appointment letter as i have already submitted the first batch of the documents. however, you going there in November wouldnt do anything for your case if its fiance visa.. If its spouse, then checklist may vary as you may have to provide more information.. ( i mean, i take that you are petitioner.. right)

Either way, your fiance or spouse should start collecting all the documents relatively soon.. and keep them updated.. I mean, it doesnt hurt to be prepared a head of time.. I would say that they can have the police report issues sometimes in mid or end august.. so they should talk to some people and understand the local procedure.. if they have lived somewhere else in another city or town after their 16th birthday (and for more than 6 months), then they would need Police Character Certificates for all of those cities.. so have them be prepared..
