If you have everything ready, all the PCC, tax information, i-864 then its a matter of weeks only. It surely is better to go with CR-1 on long run. Indian consulates are good with giving interview dates. It will also depend upon when your case gets completed at NVC. Say your gets completed at around 18th of the Dec, then most probably you will get an interview date of February which will be assigned to you in January.

Asia: Southa question regarding mumbai consulate
You can't do medical till the time you don't get interview letter, as you have to show the interview letter during medical exam. About PCC it will really depend upon the district you are at, for me it wasn't important to show any papers regarding interview, but it took me 1 month's time to get the PCC, but I have heard from others (especially people from Gujurat) how they have to show NOA-2 before getting the PCC.

PCC is valid for 1 year, so if you think you can get it now and you will have your interview within that time frame then go for it.

Asia: Southa question regarding mumbai consulate
Mumbai consulate doesn't allow the USC petitioner to enter inside the building, so technically there is no need for the USC to be at the interview, but the more visits you have made to see each other the more stronger the case is, it is always is a good idea for the USC to be near by, if by chance something happens you can always get inside the consulate for a second interview and get things sorted out.

About PCC, your SO will need 2 PCC, one from passport office and another one from district police office, go to visajourney's PCC galary and I have posted both my PCC there, you will get an idea of what a PCC looks like.

How long is a PCC and Passport Clearance Certifcate good for? 6 mos? Should she start working on getting the PCC???

The reason I ask is, my wife and I are getting ready for the next step, as we are almost at the AOS stage and I just paid the AOS Fee Bill.

Even though it says im going for K3 I think we are switching paths since we are seeing some good and fast movement on the CR-1 route.

Asia: Southinviting my sister for my delivery
IT's a long shot, specially since she got a rejection already the 1st time around

I have posted somewhere in the site a while back an invitation letter i sent for my sister in law.

Keep in mind, most of the responsibilities lie with the person in India to show strong ties to her country, showing that she will come back after her visit.

Invitation letter from us here in the states
Her lease from her flat showing she's planning to stay there for a long period of time
Her work leave request, showing she got permission from work for that vacation period.

That was it and she got a 10 year B1 visa, and as a matter of fact later on when her company wanted to bring her here for a conference she didn't need to go to consulate for any visa since she's set for the next 10 years.

2 years later we did the same thing for my father in law and he got a 10 year visa also.

HEY STAR!

What did u say in the email to the embassy?

I told them my fiance went to VFS office, but they told him they will not accept the affidavit of support and our correspondence at this time. So, now he will be bringing this information to the interview. But, I said if they still need the affidavit of support I can scan that to them. Later I just got an automated response and thats it. But, I found out someone else on VJ had a similar experience and just had to bring these documents at the time of the interview. So, its not that bad. Thank goodness he went, because he did not have the local PCC at the time now he does smile.gif. So, I recommend VFS to everyone as they can guide you as well smile.gif.

Hi everyone,

So, my fiance went to submit everything to the VFS office and had everything. They did not take the affidavit of support and our proof of relationship. This is really strange for them not to take the affidavit of support as well . They also told him to bring everything else at the interview. They told him that they are only taking what is in their limit, and the same requirements for all applicants. Did anybody experience this at the VFS office in Mumbai?
They only took the following from him.

-PCC
-birth certificate
-Medical
-DS 256, DS 256K
-passport copy
-courier fees

They had already taken the DS 230 Part I and Part II with Packet 3.

All the forms are available on the consulates website. Packet 4 includes DS 156K, DS 156, and DS 230 Part II. Also, they give you the guidelines for the poverty line which is also available on the website. I guess the only thing he needs to wait for is the appointment letter in the mail which is included in packet 4. Also, they give you a list of the medical places he can take his medical at.

His case was at Mumbai Embassy.
I'm sure that as soon as you submit the documents needed, they will give the visa right away. But my opinion is that like Twisted K said, You should request for extension just to be on the safe side.

Hello everybody,

Ok, so here is the latest about my running around for my 221g and any additional advice will be very much appreciated. On the 221g that my fiance recieved they asked for religious divorce decree. His interview was on December 7, 2009. My petition expires January 31, 2010 and we will be submitting the religious divorce decree next week. Do you think that is enough time for them to make a positive decision? We have already submitted the civil divorce decree months ago, but I guess there are certain requirements in India that we were not aware of. This whole process is such a nightmare. I have come so far, and the embassy has not been responding to my emails. I called them, but the only response I get is its pending. So, just really frustrated. wacko.gif Thanks again and any advice is much appreciated.

Since they scheduled your interview late they will extend the petition for you automatically. We got a 221g so I wrote them an email and sent them a letter through the mail to extend our petition. But, have not gotten any response. In you case its a bit different and I would not worry about it. He has not even has his interview yet, but just remind them and send them an email.

Hey everyone!,
So we have not yet reached that stage in the K-1 process, but wanted to ask anyway.Does the mumbai consulate want both the US petitioner and the fiance to be present for the interview to be held in the Mumbai consulate?

I have been thinking all this while that it is just for the fiance?

And Also, once you get your NOA2 , can we have our medical done?I mean without waiting for the whole packet 3 being sent?If so,then can we just call and make an appointment? What should we show as proof that we need it to be done for the K-1 process?

And the police certificate thing,is that just getting a certificate from your local police station stating you have no court or criminal records?

I am banking on people who have either had this experience or know quite some to help me and others out.

Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas to all!

Okay, the embassy received my fiancee's packet 3 on November 12. They didn't schedule his interview until Jan 28. Our I-129 expires on Jan 22. Since I have been reading this is a way for them to deny your package after having come so far, is there anything I can do to possibly get the I129F reaffirmed before they have the chance? Is there something I can do or say to let them know they had 2 months to schedule the interview and did not and keep them from denying us for this reason? I have time to try to get this done (I hope). Do you think it would do me any good to call USCIS and try to get a new letter with new dates on it?

Thanks in advance!

And just fyi, we stayed ahead of them on everything. He had all his packet 3 stuff and mailed it all back the day after he received the packet. There was no wait on our part. The NVC did however keep our package a month and as usual never said why. As I'm sure you are all aware, this was completely beyond our power to do anything more. But I don't go down without a fight lol. I'm not giving up yet, I don't want to see this fail on a technicality.

Hi, did you try to get an earlier interview date? Email the Embassy and in Subject include your case number and "Request for an early interview date." In the email, expain to them the reason that your I-129 expires on Jan 22nd. Try calling them as well if that works. I hope this works.

I have tried checking timelines but almost all of those are for Mumbai and Chennai. Have any of you gotten anything back about your interview for December or January? Just trying to see what kind of possibility that the interview could be in December or if January is a more likely month or if it may be even later so I know how to start planning for some things.

fyi - we mailed off packet 3 about 2+ weeks ago and it was received per the EMS speedpost tracking (which I pray was before scheduling of the interviews). Today is also a holiday for the government there so no mail will run, I know there is no chance of getting a letter from the embassy today. Oh the stress! hahaha!

Asia: SouthEvidence of Relationship?
Your visa stamps, the photos of you two together are going to be the best proof of your relationship. The movie stubs do not have your names on them, the cc receipt doesn't have her name on it so there is no proof either of those was for you and her. The pictures will need to be printed.

The phone records are good, keep collecting those. The receipts of the birthday cards and letters may not do much good either because they could be for anyone. What you would want to do is keep actual cards after they are mailed and stamped and make sure both of your addresses are on them. You can start doing that now since you are living apart. Chat records I am not sure of however emails will count. These are all considered secondary forms of evidence and are good to have, but not as important as the photos.
