They need Original Police certificate to be brought to the interview and it is not easy to get the original police certificate again and again in Pakistan. What do we do?

Asia: SouthPost NVC - Pre Interview question

1. The interview date is on March 2nd, so that means the NVC sent the case to the consulate much before then. To track it, you can call the NVC and see when the case was completed and enter that date (or around there)... in other words, you got your interview letter on Feb 5th, so case might have been closed Jan 25th? try EXP 05 Jan 2010 A... or something like that... (most likely the case is probably at Bombay)...

2. Package 3... you can look it up online on the mumbai consulate's site... it consists for the Form DS-2001 (applicant interview readines form -- if the consulate was going to be scheduling you appt, you would have to send it in), and there is a checklist in Package three to make sure you have everything ready so when you are scheduled for the interview u can be ready... other than that, i think package 3 isn't necessary for u... but it couldn't hurt to send it in...

3. My husband's interview was scheduled after the list was posted on their site... and his case number isn't on there either... but he is going to mumbai! :)

congrats... ur almost there!!

I have received Interview letter in email. Interview is in Mumbai on 2nd March.

1) When I search for DHL package using EXP 02 MAR 2010 A, it doesn't come up with anything. I received interview letter on 5th Feb Friday.
Is it too early to track the package? or am I using wrong format?

2) What is package 3? I believe Interview letter is package 4, right?

3) When I search the interview list consist of NVC case numbers on Mumbai consulate's website, I don't see my BMB number. Is this normal? Do they update the list or is it published only once?

Thanks

so do you think an attorney will be a wise move? is it worth it and will it speed up the amount of time it takes to get her the visa??

There is nothing really an attorney can do to speed up the actual processing. Can the attorney prepare a better petition submission than you can and therefore avoiding any requests for additional evidence? Only you can decide that....

Travisa is somewhat behind in updations--the new visa rule was recently modified to allow up to 3 entries into India from neighbouring (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka--but not China or Myanmar) countries (if India was used as base to visit them) within the 2-month timeframe.

Asia: SouthVisitor visa

It is a hardship on me to just get up and go to India. If we get a second interview I will go no matter what, however my fiance wants to come and visit me in the mean time. He has a residence there, he would only be visiting here, he does not qualify for VWP.

How would you prove economic ties, social ties, and binding ties? He doesn't own anything of his own. As most Indians do, he still lives with his parents and still handles everything in cash. I read somewhere that he needed to have $50,000 USD in a bank account. That seems extreme. He's only 26, wouldn't it seem fishy for someone that age to have that much money in a bank account already?

How long does the process take to get a visitors visa?

No requirement of $50K (99.9% of Indian visitors to US would be disqualified that way--as that is about Rs. 22-25 lakhs) in bank account. There was an archaic idea (I never found the truth of it) that a person with that much could get a GC automatically....

Basically, the visitor does have to fork-over about $200 in drafts to VFS-USA, and then fill out forms, and make appointment at consulate (it takes longer if language other than English) which covers region of their residence.

Asia: SouthMy letter to the embassy
The CO can ask just about anything they want and they are basically immune to reprimand. My husband was asked if his father died because he married a white woman. They can display whatever bigoted behavior they wish because the foreign national has no rights. Some of the officers have quite a long post they choose to serve. Instead of complaining to the embassy you would be better off complaining to the department of state.

Okay, thanks for that. My passport was issued in 2002 and is valid till 2017. I got married two months ago, so I'm assuming it'll be fine.

I know, right? Man, it made me so mad when I read about Gujarati women on this forum somewhere. That is way out of line and I have no idea how they are getting away with directly contradicting a Supreme Court directive. Absolutely rubbish. If only they'd tried to do that here in Calcutta. I would have given them a right piece of my mind.

Hello,

I recently got married in India and filed for IR/CR-1.

I have a question: I don't plan to take my husband's last name so I am retaining my maiden name. I also didn't apply for addition of spouse's name to the biographic page since I wasn't sure how long they would take and I wanted to get started on the paperwork ASAP. Is this going to be a problem anywhere?

Any thoughts? Thanks!
