Asia: SouthIB-1 visa?
Hey Everyone!
Visajourney helped me alot in the most difficult procedure of filing vawa from another country and getting it approved!
A bit history of my case for a clear picture..
My I-360 VAWA was approved few months back; I applied it from outside US. Later, my file was mistakenly sent to National Record center which was pulled out by the help of a senator. Received case number, paid fees and sent DS-230 forms just yesterday! My approval notice and cover sheet says that my visa category is IB-1. I can understand that it is a self petition battered spouse category. I am now expecting NVC to complete the case and assign me the interview date. Now the question is
What documents I will have to take to the US embassy for interview? As its VAWA approved, will I need to show them prove of abuse again? Will they ask queries about the abusive relationship? What questions I should expect from US embassy in my country? I know they ask about work and all for fiance and marriage but as an abused separated spouse of USC what I should expect from interviewer's when it is IB-1 visa?
Thanks again for reading this :)

Nope she does not need a visa. I myself is a U.S Citizen and when i went back couple months ago to visit my hubby in Karachi. All she needs is her US passport & National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis. The Pakistani embassy in US Is located in Los Angeles, California. Good luck!

Hi if you can please let me know how was your interview at the embassy? Which country did you have your interview in? What kind of question were asked and were you approved on the spot? Please let me know as I am going thru the same process. I have approved vawa and my case is at the NVC. My embassy is New Delhi.

Thanks a lot.

Asia: SouthConfused on what do we do after submit DS-160 (Islamabad)

Islamabad never did reply to my email, but we did finally receive or packet via email today! I wouldn't have been so worried if it hadn't been almost 2 weeks since the CEAC site was updated stating that the packet had already been sent.  Thanks for everyone's replies!

E mail them they will tell u which forms they need from u and where to submit them and all those forms u can fill them online anf print them.good luck

I've emailed them, but get no reply.  I've tried calling them too, but it seems to be pretty much impossible to get someone on the phone.  I called NVC and they said I have to speak to the embassy.

Asia: SouthConfused on what do we do after submit DS-160 (Islamabad)

I am totally confused on what to do next in the K1 process.  Our case originally went to the London Embassy and was then transferred to Islamabad at our request.  We have filled out the DS-160. The CEAC site updated our case with a link that states the following along with many other things:

When you are on this webpage, the NVC has already notified you of your interview appointment date, time, and location by sending you, your petitioner, as well as your designated agent or attorney (if applicable) an email or a letter.

When we click on a link specifically for the Islamabad we see that it says my fiance should be going to Speedex in Pakistan to pay the fee and submit the documents in order to get an interview appointment.

On VJ I see that most people get a packet 3.  Submit that then get packet 4 with the letter needed to get the medical done.

I've reached out to the embassy, but of course have heard nothing back from them.

I have no idea what we should be doing next.  Please help!

Asia: South3.5 packet for Islamabad requesting copy of original Police report

Hi Everyone,

I am confused.  I have read that the Police Cert. we get from the UK has to be sealed when mailing to Islamabad, but on the 3.5 packet we got it states we need to make one copy of all civil documents and lists the police report under that.  Is it really okay to open the report and make a copy?

Thanks

Asia: SouthGeneral Tips (U.S. embassy in Islamabad - K1 visa)

Hi Naina,

I am not sure you are following this topic as it has been several months.  My fiance is going for interview in 2 weeks and your tips will help greatly.  When it comes to payment do you know if he can pay in either dollars or rupees?  The way our packet 4 letter reads is that rupees are allowed only for the other types of visas, not the K1 or K3.  It states that exact change is required of $240 USD, but when I look at the Islamabad website it shows the MRV fee in $ and in Rupees.  It would be much easier if he could just bring rupees, but I don't want him to get there and find out he can only pay in $.

Thanks for any advice you can give us.

Asia: SouthIslamabad K-1 IV processing fee question

I interviewed on Jan 16, 2014. So, I suppose the rules are prevalent still. The reason they won't take cheques or money orders is that it takes time for payment to be effected. Cash readily solves the problem.

I read above someone mentioning the $165 fee as well, but since you are K-1 applicant, it does not apply to you. You only pay $240 or PKR equivalent. If paying PKR, better to keep some extra change, as they charged me Rs. 110 a dollar when the market rate was 106.

I hope this helps.

Good luck with the interview.

Thanks a lot.  That was exactly the info I was looking for.  He'll make sure to bring a lot of change with him.  Good luck with your journey!

Please take cash only. either PKR or USD. I think they will charge a rate of 1USD=100PKR. No money orders or cheques will be accepted.

Hey, Can you please tell me what fees are they asking for now? I thought we do not have to pay anything but a 165$ fee after we get our visa issued.

I"m not sure about F visa's.  Here's a link for you:  http://www.ice.gov/sevis/i901/

I am not sure about personal checks or money orders. As far as my understanding its either rupees or dollars. We paid in dollars to be more on the safe side.

So you are saying you paid cash?

Hi all,

We just received our interview date in Islamabad.  The letter we received states that the exact amount of $240 USD or equivalent in Rupees.  It states we cannot use a credit card.  My question is, how do they accept the money?  Can I send a personal US check or my fiance give them a Pakistani check? Does it need to be cash?  If in Rupees how do we know the exact amount needed?

I'm emailing the Embassy, but from past experience I am guessing I will not get a response.

Please only respond if you have actually interviewed in Islamabad and had to pay this fee.

Thanks!

u r in AP, my husband got the same. It seems Islamabad likes to put cases on AP. I hate it. I been apart from my hubby for a year and 5 months i miss him this thing of AP is like a black hole, there is no knowing when we will come out of it.It feels like the embassy is trying to destroy marriages. Im very sorry you are now going through this as well.

Thank you for your reply.  The "Denied" part just through me off.  We have prepared ourselves for a long AP process.  I am sorry you and your husband have had to be apart for so long now....Inshallah he will get his visa soon.

Thanks

Asia: SouthIslamabad interview yesterday - denied or in AP?

Hi all,

My fiance had his interview yesterday.  It was a green form that stated that he was denied, but then also says he is in AP.  Are all cases originally denied if put in AP?  I think this is probably normal, but I wasn't expecting to see Denied on it.  Is this anything we should worry about?  The letter is below.  Thanks for any guidance you can give us.

Thank you for interviewing at us embassy you visa has been denied section 22g of immigration and nationality act with state the no visa or other documentation shall be issued to aline if (i) it appears to the counselor officer, from statement in the application or in the paper submitted there will that such alien is ineligible to receive a visa or such other documentation under section 212,or any other provision of law (2) the application fails to comply with the provision of this act, or the regulation issued hereunder, or(3) the consular officer know or has reason to believe that such alien is ineligible to receive a visa such other documentation under 212,or any other provision of law for us visa purpose including ESTA this decision constitutes a denial of visa.
Your case has been place under administrative processing during this time we may require additional information please respond prompt to any of our inquiries. Your reasons should be though detail, and accurate warring: if you fail to take action request within one year following visa denial under section 221(G) of the immigration and nationality act section 233(G) of the act requires that your application be canceled.
When the administrative process is complete we will then determine whether you are eligible to receive a visa if you need passport ???????.

Asia: SouthDid my Pakistani fiancé get approved in 3 days???

Hi,

My fiancé interviewed in Islamabad on 4/29.  On 4/30 his status changed to AP.  Today it changed to issued with the following note:

Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than 10 working days, please see the webpage for contact information of the embassy or consulate where you submitted your application.

Could he really be approved in only 3 days?  Has anyone had it change to issued then change back to  AP or is he really going to get his visa this quickly?

Update:  We ended up sending in a copy of the I-134. It was accepted and we have been given an interview date!

Asia: SouthI-134 does orig need to be sent with 3.5 to Islamabad or is copy okay

It didn't state anywhere whether the original was required with the 3.5 packet or not. I filed for my fiance which is the K1 visa and the I-134 was optional for us. Also, I sent the original from USA via USPS. It cost me 75 dollars and was delivered within 3 days. That is pretty fast in my opinion and the 3 day wait is worth it. Better safe than sorry. I do not know whether a copy will suffice or if the original is the requirement. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks for your advice.  Unfortunately money is tight so we'd prefer to not have to spend $75 on one letter.  I will be traveling there for the interview so we would have all originals at that time.  I guess I will see if I can scrape the money together and send now.

Thanks again!

Asia: SouthI-134 does orig need to be sent with 3.5 to Islamabad or is copy okay

I had my fiance send in the original form I-134 with the supporting documents with packet 3.5. That did the trick as the paperwork was complete and accurate for the interview. Just to be on the safe side do make copies of I-134 and it's supporting documents and keep them with you. Always beneficial to make copies!

Thanks for writing me.  So the original is required with the 3.5 packet?  We'd rather bring it to the interview with the other originals if possible as it would allow us to send the packet in much quicker than waiting for this one item to arrive in Pakistan.

Asia: SouthI-134 does orig need to be sent with 3.5 to Islamabad or is copy okay

Hi,

Is a scanned copy of the I-134 okay to send with the 3.5 packet to the Islamabad Embassy?  We would be bringing the original with us to the interview.  I know this question has been asked a lot, but all the strings I keep reading are regarding the interview not the 3.5 packet itself.

Asia: SouthWhere get vaccines in Faisalabad/Lahore area?

Hi..

its a good idea to get the relevant vaccines administered in Pakistan as it would cost rather less.

You particularly want to know if TdaP and Varicella are available in Lahore/Faisalabad Area. Well, if the authorized physician doesn't have it, getting the vaccine from elsewhere will not be of any use, as it will not be recognized.

If convenient, you can go to Islamabad and have them administered there. I tried it myself, you just have to insist because its not mandatory for K-1. But i got my shots with a little nagging. So, don't go anywhere, only the authorized physician, in this case Aziz Medical Center www.amcpk.org

Thanks for the info, unfortunately Islamabad is too far to go.  From my understanding he can get the shots from any doctor as long as we have them transcribed by a civil surgeon in the US.  The locations in Lahore where you go to have the medical exam done don't have these vaccines for some reason even though they are listed on the US website.  We may just have to bite the bullet and pay the $1000 and have them done in the US.
