I'm new to this, but have lurking around this forum for a while... I just wanted to say I've always been fascinated by the Indian culture! I read for authors books and listen to Indian Music although I don't usually understand a word! tongue.gif.. I've always wanted a Saree and finally got one last month! LOL (I didn't know they are that hard to wear though blush.gif) Anyway, you guys who are Indian or have been to India, you are lucky! It's really a dream of mine to go to India one day!

Much love from Egypt!

Aya

And my dream destination is Egypt. I swear, I have always wanted to go to Egypt, since I guess I was 3 or so. And some day I will.

You know its funny, but me and husband bumped into each other on yahoo chat room because I had an Egyptian id, (tutenkhamen_pb).........so you know how much fascinated I am. May be we should trade our next plane ticket wink.gif

tongue.gif I don't, I do make good puri and all but I actually stay away from deep fried cooking, I am allergic to the smell, its confusing, my husband and bro says I got a lot of issues tongue.gif which I do. Basically I get sick when I am near some deep fried or any greasy food stuff, I don't have to eat it, just the look and smell makes me sick.

Now if you ask how I maintain my fattening waistline.....its the sweets that do it blush.gif

Anyways, here is a video you might want to watch and try to make your own.

Sara,

With Administration processing, they are doing his background check. I don't want to offend or anything but I really feel him being from Kashmir + being Muslim and a Doctor is the cause of additional background check.

If you remember a couple of years ago there was a bombing case involving Indian doctor's in England and also one of the doctor was detained in Australia (though he was freed later on). But anyways consulates these days do scrutinize more and more if the beneficiary belongs to technical fields.

Hope this won't be another long wait rose.gif Best wishes

Congrats Third, your fiance is coming! kicking.gif kicking.gif

At JFK, my hubby said they stamped his passport automatically with the EAD (they don't give a card, it is a stamp in the passport). But have your fiance ask just in case.

My guy didn't know much English when he arrived, and the person at the POE made fun of him. mad.gif They kept him for awhile and asked some questions meanly, so it wasn't easy for him. But I have heard from others and they had a much easier time. I guess my guy just got someone in a bad mood that day.

Sara, SO glad you turned in the docs they requested with the 221g/AP. Best wishes for a FAST approval now! good.gif

We aren't doing anything for Thanksgiving, no0pb.gif I guess I will call my Mom and Sister in Shasta. The rest of the time, just lazing at home with no special food. The real reunion will be at Christmas, the whole family will be together then - first time in a couple of decades! biggrin.gif

Hey Nina,

We did the CR-1 because I wanted him to come to India after graduation and meet my family before we actually tied the knot. It would've felt odd, y'know, to get MARRIED without my parents, cousins, family, friends and family friends not knowing the man I was going to marry (since I'd been in the U.S. for four years and met him in college). I'd already met his parents several times so that wasn't the problem. I just wanted my husband to meet/get to know the other important people in my life who I love just as much as I love him. smile.gif

Other factors such as limited finances, job situation also influenced our decision to a degree. Furthermore, I was told by the U.S. Consulate in Calcutta (who later, I learned, does not even process immigrant visas) that a CR-1 would take 3-4 months at the very most. HA. What a laugh.

I wish USCIS would just hurry up a little. I'm beginning to regret my decision daily.

It's my four month anniversary today and I'm sad. Suffering the consequences of my own stupid choice.

The reason I asked was because I too met my husband at college, and we did an AOS instead of me having to leave the country... much easier that way because I was able to work once I got my EAD, and his parents gladly let us stay with them till then.

I read your timeline.. Why did you leave the US instead of doing an AOS?

I bought him a card, a Bollywood DVD, (he works in sports so I got him) a basketball and a football keychain, a (manly) "Om" silver necklace, a wooden beaded wristlet and a cute stuffed puppy. Mostly silly, small stuff. I'm rubbish with gifts so mostly I buy him practical things like cute boxers, or mens' colognes. For our 6-month anniversary, I baked him a giant batch of heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies. He ate the entire lot after dinner.

When we exchanged presents last year for Christmas, we realized that we had bought each a copy of The Dark Knight. Had I any idea we'd be getting married, I'd have bought a different DVD since now we're stuck with two!

awwww... that is so cute.. I really cant think of anything to buy my husband. He doesnt wear jewelery, or otherwise I could have bought him a nice watch or something. Goes to work in jeans and t-shirt, so a nice shirt & tie would be a completely useless gift. Doesn't like Candy or sweets... so baking something nice for him is out of the question. Arrrrrgggghhhhh.. Why must men be so complicated!!!
