Let emotions settle, this is a crucial time for both for you especially if your break up was heated. In this time away from your husband learn why your husband left and ended the relationship, be completely honest with yourself.

try to deal with situation wisely without any heated anger..give him some time and space yet stay in touch with him lovingly.
Dont make him feel low or he owes you cuz he got his GC through you.

be patient and he will return home to you

best wishes

Asia: Southafter the ds-230 what's the next step///

hi guys! im quite confused... after sending my ds-230 at nvc... what is the next step? when are they going to mail me my appointment at the us embassy and my schedule for the medical? thanks! :)

august 16 - receive the ds-230 form and cover letter from my hubby
august 20 - send the ds-230 to nvc through lbc
sept 3 - nvc receives the ds-230

my husband called the nvc and the agent told him that they already receive my ds-230 and wait for another 6-8 weeks... is it really 6-8 weeks waiting? cause i read some of the time and for them it only takes for days or a week?!

thanks!

Definitely not October. Most likely the first half of November.

Our case was completed by around the 15th of March, we got our appointment letter via e-mail on March 26 for a May 3 interview at New Delhi.

Asia: SouthCan you do a K-1 if you perform a nikah not registered through a court?

If I go to Pakistan and do a nikah but not through court is it okay to file a K1 instead of a CR1?

That's a very very bad idea. Applying for a K1 after a nikah has taken place (whether or not it's registered) is totally against the rules. If you get caught or if they suspect you're already married during your K1 interview they'll reject you and force you to withdraw your petition. This happened to someone in India just for having a "marriage" ceremony that wasn't recognised by Indian law.

Hi All,

I had my interview for the green card on Oct 6th. And I had completed my medicals at Appollo hospital in Chennai. And my vaccination documentation worksheet looks like this.

I've had varicella. I received vaccines for tentanus and MMR. The rest have been checked as not appropriate for age and for influenza it was not the flu season. The doctor has then checked vaccine history incomplete but the applicant may be eligile for blanket waiver because vaccination are not not medically appropriate.

Now the interviewing officer said that he cannot approve our case if it says vaccine history incomplete. He said he wasn't aware of what vaccines we needed to take further, but the worksheet should not say vaccine history incompelte!?

It was clearly mentioned that for the rest of the vaccines i was age inappropriate. He said he would send us an RFE and that we would have to go to a civil surgeon. He said everybody whose come on K1 has had this problem. I really just this it is a mistake on his part, but there was no way we could argue with him.

Can you guys tell me what ur vaccination worksheet says and if anybody faced such a problem.

Thanks,
Sowmya

I would try calling as soon as the lines were open. Also, once you are through to the designated line and you hear the automated voice say something like 'sorry all lines are busy'....press that number again for that line....like it says press 1 for immigrant and 2 for non-immigrant or something....press your line number again....it might say sorry all lines are busy....be persistent....sometimes I would hear that message 20 times and finally the phone call would get through to an operator. you do not need to disconnect and re-try. Try this strategy. and best time to call it precisely at 12:30 or right before the time ends. it would also work to call right after they return from lunch or call on a Friday when most people are busy. All the best.

Thanks.

OP -- My dad has a similar situation: naturalized in 1984, and has no passport or proof of surrender. He need to urgently go to India -- my grandfather is sick. I tried e-mailing both the Embassy and Travisa (Visa Processing Outsource Company) to figure this situation out, and they provided the following response:

Please visit our website for the application, fee's and list of required documents. visit www.TravisaIndia.com. In regards with the actual Indian Passport, please complete the affidavit form attached and get it notarized then submit it along with your Visa application.

Thank you and we look forward to assisting you.

Please PM me your e-mail address, and I will forward the document they e-mailed me.

Also, be warned -- this will only work for the Embassy in Washington DC. The Consulate or Embassy serving your jurisdiction may have it's own form -- for example, I know both the New York and San Francisco Consulates have different forms readily available on their respective websites.

Good luck!

1) can somebody please tell what paper should i send my finance for her interview.

2) When i applied for the visa i was working two jobs and that's what i mention in my G-325 form but now i m only working one job so should update that information.

3) do i have to send my finance my last year tax paper or only pay stubs are good enough. because I-134 form says that provide pay stubs and if you are self employed then provide tax paper.

Asia: SouthWaiting time for Pakistan?

Hi. Im from Pakistan. I was issued F1 visa on 18th Dec. 2009, but it was not printed on my passport then. The interviewing officer told me that my case would undergo security clearance and other procedures and it would take some time before I will get my passport and visa. He also gave me an email address so that I can know about the status of my passport. Its been close to 8 months and I have still not received my passport. When I wrote to that email address, I got no reply. I've emailed close to 20 times but still nothing. I tried calling the U.S Embassy here in Pakistan and after several hours of waiting, the only response I got was that my case in still in process but did not give any specific date.
I wanted to know the average waiting time of F1 visa in Pakistan. I cant wait indefinatly. Time is ticking away and I dont know how much longer I have to wait.
Any kind help or information will be appreciated. Thanks

And I had been calling Embassy for more than an hour when I finally got through.

For anyone that became a citizen prior to May 31, 2010 only has to pay $20 for the certificate, anyone after the date will be paying $175.

We were told the $175 figure in Paoli on May 15 (which was prior to May 31)--though admittedly, we have not made any further moves on this issue.

If you don't have your old Indian passport or have misplaced it you need proof that you had it with passport number, place issued, and date expired. You can also obtain other Copies of your canceled Permanent Residence Card or Employment Authorization Card, Old Indian Passport etc can be obtained from the US Government, by filling a Freedom of Information / Privacy Act Request form - Form G-639 available on the website - www.uscis.gov

Saddle BroncMale06/12/2010 9:35

I heard something about requiring a renunciation certificate that costs around $175 to get from the Indian Embassy before you can apply for an Indian visa/PIO/OCI.

That is plain nuts, since India has automatic renunciation of full-citizenship when one naturalises (admittedly, I'm commenting on it from "oversafe" point--I automatically renounced in 1982 by naturalising to Canada, and already have OCI in hand since 2007)--I guess they decided to also "cash-in" (though the method is shambolic--see below) on the Gilani (Headley) case. I do have to worry about it for Pras (who was naturalised earlier THIS YEAR--and has at least six years left on the now-invalid Indian passport) however.

Cash-in method obviously can backfire if the erstwhile citizen of India has much time remaining on the passport--as that person can easily simply use the unexpired Indian passport to enter India, and the other country's (point for discussion, US--which REQUIRES that its own passport be used) for re-entry home.

I've had about five Thailand visas -- my mom loves Thailand and Singapore -- there was a point when we went there every summer. We always did our visas through a travel agency so I've no personal experience of the process. Our visas were always approved, no issues and we had a great time, every single time. Great food, great beaches, lovely people and amazing shopping steals! What's there not to love?

You have to go to Phuket, Chiang Mai, Krabi Island as well! :)

Have a great trip!

In your case, your husband has not submitted his Indian passport on receving his US passport. As per new regulation you have to return your old passport and get a PIO card if you want.
Initially they have a heavy penalty for not returning Indian passport, but after lot of pressure from NRIs they have reduced the fee.

This new rule is because of the Headley case. As more and more people use the system for their selfish terrorist acts, Indian Government have to tighten the rules.
