Asia: SouthFiancee just caught dengue fever :-/
it is passed person to mosquite then mosquito to person,, to avoid it just avoid the mosquito, it is not passed person to person.

It can be a lot worse the a bad cold. there are several strains of it,, just depends on which strain she has and how good her imune system is. dont want to alarm you but it realy is not something to take lightly.

Hi Kbro91. How is it going? I am sorry to see your posting so late as I am just entering the same process that you are halfway through. My opinion, and from what I have read on other discussions on this site, is to take anything and everything you can think of that would provide sufficient proof of your relationship, and ongoing relationship. I am not sure what types of things makes them assign AP but for me this is also a concern. It is not an attractive idea to wait 6 months only to find out that you still have a wait ahead of you. I am also not sure about how long it takes for them to schedule the interveiw, etc. I know that recently they were closed which may extend some of the wait times as they try to catch up for lost days due to the closure.

I am hoping that you will post an update as they happen and I will pray for you and your fiance and hope that things turn out for the best for you, inshALLAH. Have faith upon it.

Does anyone know the exact cost for a fresh copy of the Pakistani passport? On the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports it states that the passport is 4,000 PKR for urgent yet I`m hearing from some close friends that the cost is 20,000 pkr.

Asia: SouthQuestion about religion on Islamabad Embassy

Just simply prepare a statement on your conversion...that way they have their answer on paper even if she tells them why you converted. I'm sure yours was similar too...it made sense to convert in a place that you hear the Azan every day with the history of islam surrounding you. :)

Omg you are right on point! My friends have told me to convert here but its just not the same feeling as converting in a Islamic country where the azan can be heard everyday, everywhere, 5 times a day. The feeling that you get over there once you`ve converted is extraordinarily let alone the vast amount of happy muslims whom I didn`t even know of congratulating me for my conversion while I was staying at the hotel.

Yea your right I`ll just write down a letter stating my conversion by explaining to them that this was from my own free will and not part of the marriage process. I`m well aware that I wont be able to face the interviewer so i`ll go ahead and give it to my fiance and she can show it to him/her if they ever ask about it.

My wife was converted few years ago, and she didn't changed her name that time, all she did after getting married, she changed her last name, so now she has muslim name too. i would suggest you to file with your orginal name as you are doing K1 visa, at the time of interview CO only asked me when & where she is converted.

Thanks but do you think I`ll have the same luck even though she`s muslim and i`m the American petitioner? They may look at it more carefully since they`ll think that she`s marrying a non-muslim knowing well that its prohibited for a muslim women to marry a non muslim :(

Asia: SouthQuestion about religion on Islamabad Embassy

Same here with me. I actually worked in a church setting and because the youth were getting ready to study about islam and judiasm i thought it best to read evthing about both in depth...so my research had begun before my husband and i became friends. When we did I asked him more questions and talked to him more and decided to convert. But his family had already accepted me as a christian wife to him before then...he proposed with their blessing long before i converted.

Fast forward...i flew to him to be married and while i was there i told them i wanted to convert...they reminded me that they loved me jjust as i am but i explained why i wanted to convert. So the same day we did our nikah at the Masjid...i also converted. I actually received a certification of this with my new muslim name.

We included this withour ds230 and i gave him a letter explaining simply why i chose to convert and that i knew i was accepted as a christian wife to him before my decision.

Im not sure if your situation would be the same as mine or different since as a muslim man he can marry women from the book ..ie christian and jews.... and the muslim woman is required to marry only a muslim man.

Thank you what a interesting story maybe if I would`ve gone over there to marry her and have a nikah ceremony things would`ve been easier makes me wonder why I haven`t thought of it in the first place :bonk: I understand that it may raise some eyebrows as far as them mistaking her for wanting to marry a "catholic or a christian" which is one of the main reasons why I`m planning on flying over there in hopes of showing some evidence

Salam everyone!

I am currently in the process of petitioning my Pakistani fiance to America. Prior to getting engaged I have made the biggest and most effective decision that I have ever made in my life! I officially converted to Islam. This of course did not have to do anything with my fiance as Islam has always been a religion that made much more sense to me. I studied it and did my research prior to converting and boy don`t I wish I converted sooner. On March I went to Pakistan to propose as well as to convert. Now the issue here is that I`ve been told that in MENA countries the consulates can be picky as far as issuing visas for interracial couples especially if they have to do with religions. My main concern is that since my name is not a muslim name yet they may hesitate to believe that I`m muslim. She of course is planning to tell them but is there any evidence that she can provide as far as showing that I`m muslim just in case they give her any problems? Would a letter from the Imam that converted me work? Has anyone ever had a similar experience and if so has the consulates given you a hard time as far as granting visas to people whom they believe that are different in religions?

CCPO (Capital Chief Police officer) office near secretariat mall Lahore take 3 Photographs & Passport Copy, fill the English and Urdu form there, then they will send those forms to your concern police stations, usually takes 7 days to get Police certificate. It?s easy to get with no cost.contact# 042-99211567

Thanks what type of photographs should she take and I assume its 3 passport copies correct? I`ve been told that they come to ur house to investigate or can this be done by just bribing them by just paying them? Its a lot of hassle having them show up at her house we don`t want her parents getting a surprise knock lol

My husband had to take his NIC card, birth certificate and passport copy in karachi to the police dept there... sometimes they ask for the interview letter but i doubt they will. Takes ususally just a day or two somtimes a week...

Not sure about Lahore but I'm sure its similar process

Thank you as for his passport copy did he had to make a copy of the entire pages of the passport or just the main page where it has his information? What if this is her very first passport? She wont get it until the 22nd of next month since she just applied for it today.

Thanks for asking. She`s doing a bit better she had to go to the doctor last night because she forgot to take her night meds the night before (she fell asleep). Her white blood cells are pretty low but the doctor said that this is normal with dengue. He told her to drink a cup of juice for 14 times everyday. He wants her to remain indoors with a lot of fluids. The good thing is that he estimates for her to get completely healed in 2 weeks. Hopefully by that time we`ll have our packet 4 and be ready to take the medical interview. The only problem is that she doesn`t have her vaccine records but does remember getting vaccinated before :-/

Hey guys

I have a couple of questions in regards to the interview process.

Where is the Diplomatic Shuttle Service located? Is the shuttle service only for visa applicants or is it for everyone including US Citizens?
How often does the shuttle operate?
Are family members such as my fiancee`s dad and her brother allowed inside the shuttle service center? how about the consulate area?
Can me and my mother accompany her to the consulate area?
What is my fiancee required to show to the shuttle service center? I assume the passport and interview letter but how about the documents?

The thing is that I am planning on coming 15 minutes later to meet up my fiancees inside the consulate since my flight will be arriving a bit late.I will be carrying all of the financial documents as well as the evidences and I was planning on giving it to her inside the consulate.

I was born in Pakistan (naturalized in US in 2009). I know I am elligbile for NICOP. I have expired Pakistani passport and old NIC.

My husband is US born (not of Pakistani origin)- Can he get NICOP based on marriage to me?
Our daughter is a US born citizen. Can she get NICOP based on being child of Pakistani parent? btw, I did not register her with the Consulate.

We plan on traveling to Pakistan in May for my brother's wedding and would like to know if we can get NICOP's or do we all need to get visas?

I dont think your husband can (Why would you want to :) )get it but your daughter can, check out the following website. I would even call the consulate to find out more. They are usually helpful

UPDATE: Just saw you asked about travel. Your husband will definitely need the visa. Also, I think NICOP takes some time so apply ASAP

Asia: Southwhen will i hear good news?

My guess on the attitude of DOS or embassy on this is: this timeline varies by countries, and making a commitment may come with keeping it. But an open ended generalized category can keep you on hold forever without any explanation. Beside some of these exercises could really take long. So don't worry. If you really want to wait, I would suggest give 5 months. For Bangladeshi males lately I have noticed few getting out of AP right after their 4th month.

One month of vacation? Can't even dream of it. Lucky you......... Where do you work? Heaven? Just kidding.

Stay positive, keep up the good spirit and support your hubby who probably is much more depressed than you are......

thats why im gonna wait another months or so.. if i see they are not responding then i will go to bangladesh.. well i dont work in heaven.. i work for DD..but im store manager.. so thats why they r not allow to have us more than a months.. they will hire someone else in my place.. and i have family to taking care of.. so thats the reason im not going..

A lot of questions there. All these things are possible. It depends on what you want to do. Live with your Phillipine fiancee/spouse in Thailand? Or bring your Phillipine fiancee/spouse to the US?

Ouch, I feel for you brother. We have Dengue Fever here in Mexico too and luckily I've been able to avoid it thusfar, but many of my friends have had it and well, it sucks. She should get over it in about a week, but it will be a crappy week. I don't think that Dengue will hurt her chances at all because as far as I know it's like a cold and once it's out of your system then it's not contagious. But besides that, how would they even know she had it? Again, like a cold, I don't think that kind of thing would show up on a blood test...

Asia: SouthUSC with 2 DWI's and mandatory jail time
Hi all, I posted this in general discussion but I guess this is a better forum for this.
I am 31 yrs old white male USC, I started talking to my (now) wife in nov 2010 and went to India last week (1st trip) for 6 days and we got married. She is divorced with a 5 year old daughter with sole custody and full rights. I also have 2 DWIs with mandatory jail time. 1st one 7 years ago and 2nd one 4 years ago. We are getting ready to file for CR1. I was warned to make a couple of trips before getting married but we did it anyway. Is it going to cause us any problem in the future? Also are my DWIs going to affect my eligibility to file for her and her daughter?
It was her parents idea for us to get married so soon because they did not want me seeing her without being married to her (not that we did not want to, we did and are happy). Can someone who has dealt with Consulates in India help me on this one please?
