Islamabad US Embassy

Anyone have any experience in contacting US Embassy in Islamabad. My in laws gave interview a about 2 month or so ago and were told that they would get something later after they have finished reviewing. Haven't heard anything and it has been a few months now.

I tried their email form on the website and that didn't yield any response. Does anyone know how to contact them via phone and if that would help.

Someone with this experience in the past can be a great help. Thanks.

We are at the same stage as you in Kabul. Have your fiance' make a medical appointment asap. This is what the Embassy told us. We have not received our packet yet and they told us that the interviews for May are filled. I am anticipating a interview date set for either june or july. Our petition has been at the Embassy for a couple months now. So, be patient and email them if you have questions. They have been pretty good about answering me back. I am still unsure about what to expect.

Thanks. My petition has been at the embassy for one month now. I just emailed them. You have been waiting for 2 months and you have not received your package yet? Wow, why is it taking so long? They are interviewing those petitions that maybe approved in March, I guess? This means mine will not be sometimes sooner than end of July? This is not very good. Please let me know of any updates. Hello all,

First of all I have posted this in general posting area, however, I was sugested by nice VJ member to post this in specific to the beneficiary's country. I hope someone here has been in this stage of the process that I am in and can kindly guide me through.

I am new here. It seems like it is a very usfual and helpful site. I just wanted to tell you guys a little about me. I am petitioning K1-visa for my fiancee. I am a US citizen and my fiancee is an Afghan national. I didn't know about this site, but it seems like I had done things correctly becuase my I-129F was approved with no RFE. Right now I am waiting for the embassy to contact us. Has anyone have any idea what to do and what to expect. Thank you all.

K1 petitioner needs 3X the income amount in assets (not 5X) to satisfy the requirement. Use the asset guidelines found in the I-864 instructions for reference. Or you can click the I-864 FAQ link in my signature below.

Just to carify one thing here. For K1 the affidavit of suport form to fill out is the I-134 and not
I-864 right? I-864 is file for th adjustment of status once the foregin finacee is here and married to Us citizen then that when that form is use, am I right?

Questions again...

Example: If the petitioner has no job and has been layed off (Not by choice), but has the financial means that covers 5 years of the poverty guidlines for 2 householeds, would the petitioner need a co-sponor or the finance of the petitioner herself/himself is sufficant? Please reply to this question.

Hello,

If You have provided correct email address and phone #'s they will contact you. Just wait sometimes they are very slow. Also once you have the email make appointment for your medical right away otherwise you will have re reschedule your interview the medical place is really busy. After interview it will take another 2 months or longer for the visa to be issued. So plan to wait for a while I am going through the same process right now.

Yes, I have given the embassy the correct email address and phone numbers. How long did it take for you before you recieved your instruction email or pacakge from the embassy? Could you also please tell me what they ask for in the instruction pakage? I want to be prepared. I want to know if they ask for the original docs. Also, I sent some of the necessary docs for my fiancee's for the interview, will they be picky about the date? You know how hard it is to sent thing to Afganistan, so Someone was going I sent those with. Please share any information you can so I have some idea and vision of what to expect. ask for casefile status.

You are seeking/listening for 'casefile opened' timetick.
If they sent yer fiance a packet 3, you need to check the address that DoS has.

re: NVC - NVC can give you the Kabul casefile # - you'll need that when you call DoS Hotline.

if you have that casefile # already, email Kabul IV again, using the casefile # in the email, and inquire for casefile status.

I did. I got my case number from the NVC and I included my case number, petitioner's DOB and beneficiary's DOB along with the beneficiary's email address and phone numbers. I gave the NVC her email address when I called and recieved my case number. I don't know what to do now? When I called the NVC they said there is nothing they can do for the K1 visa it is all handle at the embassy level. I keep sending the embassy emails requesting information back. I am so surprised that the emabssy didn't know K1 is not handled at the NVC. I can't undrstand this. I will try to call tomorrow to DOS and find out what is going on? :help:

I don't know what is going on? My petition has been forwarded to the US embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan about a month ago, but my fiancee or I have not heard anything. I emailed the embassy 3 weeks ago, after one week they replied back saying... my fiancee should have received a package of instruction from the NVC. I called the NVC and they told me that they have nothing to do with K1 visas. Anything we will be getting is from the embassy. I emailed back the embassy explaing what the NVC told me. IT has been a week and half and no reply back. I resent my second email twice now. I do't know what is going on. I hope someone will help me. I am going to post this message on the South Asia froum and hoping someone from that area will be willing to answer and add their experience with that particular embassy. Hi meulaboh,

are you able to get divorce papers from Union Council? I may need to get it too. So US Embassy don't accept the divorce papers from Pakistani court? do we have to have from Union Council?

Affidavits for Bona Fide Marriage at interview

All original documents should go to NVC but what we did was take all our originals and gone to the foreign ministry office and had them make copies and attest they were original copies of the documents so in case anything happened to our originals we had back ups.

for the interview We took the entire case files we sent for i130 and the i864 and the DS230 along with plenty of pictures, emails, chats, skype, phone records bank statements showing he was put on as beneficiary all other utilities and stocks showing his name either as person of contact or other payee or beneficiary. Also took gift receipts, flight boarding passes, letters and cards

We also had affidavits of marriage from our friends and family stating they attended our wedding and/or knew of our relationship and marriage

As for the paper, we used whatever the original paper was for NVC and used plain paper for copies. The police certificate must be what the embassy requires but you can tell that to the police when you go to obtain that document that you are using it for immigration purposes and they will use the correct form/paper

Affidavits for Bona Fide Marriage at interview

Hi VJs,

I really need the answer for following questions:

1. For interview, at US Embassy, Islamabad, Do we need to show all Affidavits for Bona Fide Marriage documents that we sent with I-130 application? if yes, do you get that Affidavits printouts on "Rupee Paper"? if not, then what format you used for all Affidavits? because I heard that US Embassy at Islamabad do not accept "Rupee Paper".

2. Did you used plain paper for Affidavit from Translator for Urdu to English?

I just want to get opinions from all VJs who has this experience.
Please help.

Hello,

Almost after a month you will receive a interview letter and will give you a month wait time before your interview. So that time is the best time to make your medical exam appointment. The embassy will give you instructions and what forms to bring on day of interview. They want original docs meaning the signature has to be original the date is not a problem. Good Luck

As far as the passport I've heard two different things.. one is they can return your passport but they will need to check again as to the reason for your travel and why you went to another country and will have a longer AP and the second thing i've heard is they won't return your passport during the AP process. I would call if you can and inquire about the passport. That's the only way you will know for sure

This is very worrisome as my fiance has to travel for his job as a tour guide. He can't do his work if they keep his passport that long. How do we deal with this? Thanks for the info!

We are also in process of getting police reports for my wife. I have some confusion about the police certificates. She studied & stayed in two different cities (two years each) and now she is back in her hometown.

Does she need police reports from all three cities or just the current city would be enough?

Just get the certificate from where her main address is. My wife lived in a remote small village when she was younger but I only got certificate from Karachi because she lives there now.

how long does it take to get the visa in hands after interview?

Some ppl get da visa on 7-10 day. N sum ppl the very next day of interview. Is it cuz of da ppl's names. If its a common name thy give da visa right away if it has mohammad in it ,thy delay a little?

Sample letter for requesting Police clearance certificate (India)

Hi,
I read all the posts in this. My case is slightly different. I am form India and currently in Singapore.
I have to file the DS 230 and trying to get the PCC from Indian Consulate in Singapore.

The India consulate here is requesting for Requisition Letter from embassy (of course US embassy) before they can process my PCC application.
They clearly told me that your requisition letter has to be in your name form the Embassy and should ask for the PCC.

Please help if anyone has faced similar situation.

It is much better if she goes with you to the interview my husband went alone and now they're saying our marriage fraud because I'm 11 years older than him. And it's even more a problem if she has been married before. Good luck we have been in this process for over a year and a half.

You may ask your petitioner to contact senator/congressman. It will either push your case or inform you the reason of delay. I think ISL embassy takes 6 month for whole name check process but it is not restricted to 6 month. Many cases take longer time and it depends on the frequent visits to foreign country(make name check process lengthy ), so there is no solid answer of your question.

The police certificate is only good for 6 months... unless you want ap for a document at the interview i would suggest getting a new one to take with her at the time she has interview. My husbands pcc is expiring in sept so i am sure as we sit here in ap they will tell us to get another one to them to issue the visa

Interview wait time

The Mumbai Consulate received our petition on October 28, 2011 and we did not get an interview date until December 5th (a little over 5 weeks). I think it depends on how many petitions they've received and then they have to find room on the schedule. Don't worry - I think you should hear something very soon. Good Luck!
