I haven't had to deal with this issue but I would advise you to get the local PCC now and submit it to NVC even if they don't request it. Get two originals that way you can take an original with you to the interview.

You could also e-mail mumbai consulate and wait for their response. You can then take a printout of the e-mail with you to the interview.
The local PCC is much easier to get so I think it may be worth while to just get it instead of relying on someone else's information.

Yesterday, i spoke with NVC live operator regarding this issue, they mentioned it will be ok for him to submit local PCC at the time of interview. My husband has already applied for local PCC, but you know na, Police officals in gujarat, how they work.. told it will take around 10 days before you can get.. Also, my husband has given (Rs500) to start the process.. which doesn't need any fees to start with the process.. I can wait to get the local PCC to submit with DS-230, the time constrant is too big to wait now.. i don't want to wait and i can mail the DS-230 now..since i will have all the required documents next week.. other wise have a wait another one week or so to get the local PCC.

Plus NVC will take time to enter the forms into the system.. It is just more time to wait..since you waiting so long for this now..

They told my wife the same thing that she needs a call letter.




The sample letter didn't work for me. What did work for me was the DS-230 cover letter. Even though they kept asking for interview letter, when we showed them the DS-230 cover letter they immediately said "yep that's the letter we need" go figure!

It took about 4 working days to get the passport. The passport PCC comes with two originals. One you need to send to NVC with the DS-230 and the second beneficiary keeps it for the interview.

Also I told a few of my other friends what happened and they told me about there cousins who got denied because the embassy though they were married.... I'm starting to get worried about that now! Just wanted to introduce myself and this would be my first post!

I live in California, got engaged to a wonderful girl in Pakistan. I filed the K1 visa in December 2011, also got a RFE.... (Yes dumb mistake I managed to skip the questions on part C!) Returned the RFE in mail same day have been waiting since May 17th 2012 (RFE received) in California center. Hopefully things go well and we get the NOA2 very soon!

Has anyone else gotten a second RFE here? I searched the forum all I saw was people getting RFE whom had been married before or other complicated cases!

Perhaps you should consider a local divorce attorney who has experience with divorce cases with international ties.

The Uscis requires the application of local regulations on any case matter so it's the local laws that apply to legal matter. And to fulfil the requirements only a local lawyer would know what's necessary... document can be translated as necessary.

I hope someone answered your question in the other post but all that is required is a copy of your marriage certificate if it's in English and Urdu then don't need translation. If it's only in Urdu get the document translated by a authorized individual that can attest it was translated properly. Pictures are the actual proof of marriage the certificate is just a document to be submitted for paperwork requirements.

Sahil,

Couple of facts that were probably of concern to the agent that you mentioned:
1. You were divorced
2. Your FIANCEE is also divorced
3. You are applying for a K1 fiancé visa
4. Term of relationship (time)

The above listed facts are all unfortunately working against you. Basically concern of the agent is that it is too soon and also proof of on going trelationship. Essentially you two are being asked to prove that what happened in the past is not a habitual behavior. Getting fiancé visa for someone who has gone through a divorce is a bit difficult to do in the first place. you now have to additionally prove you two belong together and further evidence of a solid relationship with a promising future. Also fiancé visa is a promissory agreement not a binding agreement like a marriage. . It would be easier for you to get married then file for visa.

However if you feel certain the fiancé visa is the route you would like to go, see what happens when your file is reviewed, maybe the second level reviewer feels differently go through an appeal process see how that pans out for you.

Me&Him: When I was waiting for the interview date (IR1/CR1), I spent some time calling NVC and digging out various forums and found something. Don't remember the exact thing, but the summary is like this:

Each month NVC sends a list to the local embassy and that happens after the 15th of every month. Embassy then starts setting up appointments for the next month from the list. If something cannot be covered in that month, it goes back to the next month by the order it reached Embassy. So if your case was approved after that cut off date (which I don't know) you will be automatically pushed back more than a month of waiting. As such, usually the interview time may take from a month to 3 depending on the volume of approvals. However at Bangladesh context, I guess it won't take that long

The Mumbai Consulate received our petition on October 28, 2011 and we did not get an interview date until December 5th (a little over 5 weeks). I think it depends on how many petitions they've received and then they have to find room on the schedule. Don't worry - I think you should hear something very soon. Good Luck!

Can anyone tell me what a normal wait time is to receive an interview date. I filed k1 at dhaka embassy and they received my packet 3 in January 19th. I still have not heard anything about an interview date. I called DOS and was told that my case is eligible to be schedule for an interview but one has not been assigned. Any comments will be appreciated. It ll be 1 month end of this week since packet 3 was submitted to embassy. Wish they would hurry up and schedule the interview

The biggest challenge is this, the USCIS has no authority over NVC and NVC has none over the Embassy. And the Embassy act as if they are GOD (talking about BD perspective). So you will find very little help from the Embassy asking a quesition via phone. However, their response over email is much better, even though in once instance I got a response once my question was answered in course of time.

My guess is this: As your case reached embassy on early Jan and you didn't get an appointment in Feb (they give you at least a month of preparation time), they may call you at the end part of Feb and set up a date in end part of March. I know this is frustrating, but this is my guess based on what I've seen so far. You may even get a call tomorrow (Feb 16 saying your interview date is on March 17 or something).

Good luck. At this point, you should not worry much and stay relax. Just make sure you are prepared for the interview. All information that are in the appliation must match with your answers during interview. In case there is any and it is an honest mistake, instead of dodging or a clever answer, just say so.

I want to know the answer of this question regarding interview in Embassy(Pakistan Islamabad).

If i feel comfortable to give interview in Urdu instead of English.Is this language selection will effect my visa approval?

As I have read the Islamabad Embassy reviews, you may be offered the opportunity to give interview in Urdu instead of English and there may be a translator present at the time of interview. It should not be a problem. However, may I ask if your spouse who is supposedly a USC (United States Citizen) from Pakistan and speaks Urdu? Because if not, they might ask you at time of interview that how do you communicate with your spouse and if you are not so comfortable with speaking English, won't it be a problem for you in future?

The number 202-663-1225 is to the Visa Center in Washington DC and they are closed on Wednesdays afternoons. So if your wife calls that number, have her wait until tomorrow. They are usually open from 8-5. I just didn't want her to call and have them tell her the office is closed and cause her some confusion.

I think the biggest piece of advice I can give you is BE HONEST about EVERYTHING! If you met online, say so. If you live together, say so. If she has or hasn't met your family, say so. The red flags and complications come when they raise questions and you answer them in a manner that makes them question your answer. Do not be afraid to tell your story and elaborate on points that will reinforce your answers.

Like EAbbas and sn530 have stated, it also sounds to me like there was something more to the story that set off a red flag to them. I am divorced and have children from my previous husband and didn't have too much difficulty obtaining my finace's K1. How long have you all known each other? Have you ever met in person? This story seems a little bit incomplete without futher details and laying blame on the Consular Officer.
