Asia: SouthAny Applicant for IR1/CR1 from Pakistan
Hi VJs,

I would like to ask what format you used when you got translation for Nikah Nama or any other document that was in Urdu language(local)?
Also what format you used for Affidavit of Translator?

1. Did you use Rupee paper to print translation for Nikah Nama or any other Urdu document? if not what paper you used?
2. Did you use Rupee paper to print Affidavit of Translator? if not what paper you used?

The reason I am asking is because I saw following statement on US Embassy's web site of Pakistan:

"Please note that notarized “rupee paper” statements of divorce, marriage, death and birth are generally NOT acceptable records of relationship. “Rupee paper” affidavits will only be accepted when registration with the appropriate government authority was not required by Pakistani civil law."

Thanks for any help.

4 months is really long for Kabul. We got ours in a month try to contact your senator don't just sit and wait. How did they tell you to get the medical done? If the medical exam gets expired by the time your fiance gets his visa he has to do all that medical all over again. Keep moving try different ways to get some answers don't wait. Good Luck to you I hate this waiting process...

Asia: Southi had a dream
I definitely think it is difficult to be a Muslim going through this process, from the very first petition to AOS and beyond. While the US is a great country, there is always a rough phase when it has accepted new people and, as we all know, has a history of oppression, racism, and discrimination, much of which still exists.. against black people, against other minorities, against women (recently Trayvon Martin's death has put this in the limelight). Many people on these forums may say that it is better than other countries, and it is!, but that doesn't mean there are no problems.

Since 9/11 things have been bad when it comes to the civil rights of Muslims, Arabs, and people of other nationalities that the government may consider to be suspicious. We shouldn't expect it to be different when it comes to visa, greencard, or citizenship processing. There is structural, social, and individual bias and discrimination against many people that can't be ignored (but it is!)

Other Muslims and non-Muslims may not understand how you feel, (just like I can't understand the experience of a black person with racism) but as a US citizen who has lived with my Muslim family here for a long time, it's easy to say that you probably do and will continue to experience discrimination and feel some fear. If you'd like me to give examples, I'm happy to send people private messages with the stories my family and I have had to endure.. and we are not even openly Muslim. I don't wear a headscarf and neither do my sisters, but just having that as part of our identity has lead to some bad experiences.

Most recently, in my neck of the woods here in NYC, the story has blown up of how the NYPD has been secretly monitoring innocent Muslim student groups throughout New York and other states. That is just a sad disgusting thing and a violation of everyone's rights. Thankfully, I didn't go to university in New York and only recently moved here from Boston, but it's just a sign of the situation and the times.

After saying all of that, I will say, Brother, that I think you should try to just continue to live your life normally, including praying and going to mosque. Take it easy and not worry about the visa process. You might be paranoid and right about being watched or judged, but if you are doing nothing wrong, even if it takes them years, you will achieve your goal.

Good luck and inshallah no more nightmares!

Or can I keep it the same? How important is your first name, name change when it comes to paperwork?

Well, it varies from case to case. But I don't know if you already showed up for your interview or not. The Embassy website says that most regular immigrant case will go under Administration Process which is going to take 90 - 120 days normally. I have had my interview on June,06.12 but still case is pending. lets see what happens.

thanks hope this could help a bit.

please to call the DoS Hotline (# in my profile, click the girls, study left panel)
then
ask for casefile status.

You are seeking/listening for 'casefile opened' timetick.
If they sent yer fiance a packet 3, you need to check the address that DoS has.

re: NVC - NVC can give you the Kabul casefile # - you'll need that when you call DoS Hotline.

if you have that casefile # already, email Kabul IV again, using the casefile # in the email, and inquire for casefile status.

The documents to be signed and produced as evidence are the same. The co-sponsor is just another sponsor whose purpose is to complement the required minimum income. There should be no reason why the consulate in Kabul would not accept a co-sponsor.

My fiancé obtained her police certificate in May of 2011.

Her interview at the Islamabad Embassy is going to be around Oct/Nov 2011.

Is it ok if the police certificate pre-dates the interview by 6 months for the Islamabad Embassy? Or should she get another police report right before her interview date?

Thanks for any replies!

The police certificate is only good for 6 months... unless you want ap for a document at the interview i would suggest getting a new one to take with her at the time she has interview. My husbands pcc is expiring in sept so i am sure as we sit here in ap they will tell us to get another one to them to issue the visa

better to be safe and get her to take a new one at that time..

Contact the embassy and just tell them he needs his passport to work. They should send it back but you may still go thru AP and possibly another check to the countries he goes to after he gets the passport back.... You can either call or email the embassy.

Dear Pakistani VJ memebers,
any one who can share his or her experience of long long waiting time? I had interview six months ago for IR1 visa and ISL embassy kept my pasport with it. how long it could be. i want to get my passport back as i am planning to visit Nepal, would it hurt my case or they can continue their process without my passport?

You can join us here at this tracker for ISlamabad...we are all pending AP some visas have been issued but most of us are still waiting... http://www.visajourn...r/page__st__795

As far as the passport I've heard two different things.. one is they can return your passport but they will need to check again as to the reason for your travel and why you went to another country and will have a longer AP and the second thing i've heard is they won't return your passport during the AP process. I would call if you can and inquire about the passport. That's the only way you will know for sure

Asia: SouthAffidavits for Bona Fide Marriage at interview
All original documents should go to NVC but what we did was take all our originals and gone to the foreign ministry office and had them make copies and attest they were original copies of the documents so in case anything happened to our originals we had back ups.

for the interview We took the entire case files we sent for i130 and the i864 and the DS230 along with plenty of pictures, emails, chats, skype, phone records bank statements showing he was put on as beneficiary all other utilities and stocks showing his name either as person of contact or other payee or beneficiary. Also took gift receipts, flight boarding passes, letters and cards

We also had affidavits of marriage from our friends and family stating they attended our wedding and/or knew of our relationship and marriage

As for the paper, we used whatever the original paper was for NVC and used plain paper for copies. The police certificate must be what the embassy requires but you can tell that to the police when you go to obtain that document that you are using it for immigration purposes and they will use the correct form/paper

My Fiancé Just had her interview yesterday (06/15/2012) and was denied at Islamabad (Pakistan) Consulate... I was previously married and got legally divorced in 2003 and my fiancé was also previously married and had obtained her legal devoiced in 2009. We got engaged in June 2011 and afterword I have filed i-129F...

The i-129F was approved very quickly within 4 months in USA, and transferred to Pakistan consulate shortly… after 5 months of waiting my fiancé got an interview email and was very short time of the interview about 10 days and before couple of days of her interview she got official interview letter in mail… she was pretty much well prepared for the interview..

The officer was very nasty; she refused impractical question, what is the guarantee that you guys are not gotten divorce again in 5 to 6 months… I was wondering if anyone gone through this kind of situation… Please advise me what the next step I should follow is...

did they request anything more from you? did they say they were returning the case? What were the questions they asked? They can't deny because they don't think your marriage will work out.. there has to be something else. Giving us more details would help us help you...

Sorry about all this...

Does anyone know.. what to do in this case ??

My husband's passport issued in Jan, 2008 and within 6 months of time.. in that case i only have to submit passport office PC. i am going to submit only Passport office PCC with the DS-230. In that time frame, my case is completed here and transfered to Mumbai consulate. But if the interview is scheuduled after the 6 months issued time is over, than i need to submit the local PCC.

Now, it is ok for him to submit the local PCC at the time of the interview if they ask for that.. ?? or i have to submit to NVC first??

I haven't had to deal with this issue but I would advise you to get the local PCC now and submit it to NVC even if they don't request it. Get two originals that way you can take an original with you to the interview.

You could also e-mail mumbai consulate and wait for their response. You can then take a printout of the e-mail with you to the interview.
The local PCC is much easier to get so I think it may be worth while to just get it instead of relying on someone else's information.

desiboy2k4,

Yesterday, i spoke with NVC live operator regarding this issue, they mentioned it will be ok for him to submit local PCC at the time of interview. My husband has already applied for local PCC, but you know na, Police officals in gujarat, how they work.. told it will take around 10 days before you can get.. Also, my husband has given (Rs500) to start the process.. which doesn't need any fees to start with the process.. I can wait to get the local PCC to submit with DS-230, the time constrant is too big to wait now.. i don't want to wait and i can mail the DS-230 now..since i will have all the required documents next week.. other wise have a wait another one week or so to get the local PCC.

Plus NVC will take time to enter the forms into the system.. It is just more time to wait..since you waiting so long for this now..
