Yes I am getting my fiancee to re-take it and send the digital copies to me. If she mail it again, it would takes 2 weeks. I don't understand why it is so specific that i is needed to be 2X2? But again I don't want to have any problems with my application. So I will follow the requirement.

2x2 inches is US size. That's what they need to be for the visa application.

You can use these guidelines: http://www.travel.st...toreq_5333.html

Actually they didn't specify a dimension in the K1 visa guide printed from US immigration department. Just need to make sure that from the neck to the hair is one inch.

  • In color
  • Sized such that the head is between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches (22 mm and 35 mm) or 50% and 69% of the image's total height from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head. View the Photo Composition Template for more size requirement details.
  • Taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance
  • Taken in front of a plain white or off-white background
  • Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera
  • With a neutral facial expression and both eyes open
  • Taken in clothing that you normally wear on a daily basis

I just received my fiancee passport photos. What is the dimension requirement for the passport photos? I think she send me a 2 X 3. Does it have to be 2 X 2?

Hello everyone,

I had send out my K1 petition already. I am finishing up my Master degree and possibly will get accepted into PHD program at University of British Columbia. Now, that school is in Vancouver Bc, canada. My question is that once my fiancee move here, can she go with me to Canada for a few years or does she have to stay at the border which is at seattle, Washington? Otherwise, I planned to live somewhere close to the US border, is it alright to drive to school everyday and going pass the border patrol?

I am dealing with this as well and there do not seem to be any firm answers of what the embassies will actually require.
The way most people are calculating it is being at 125% of the poverty level.    With your assets you are not too far off.
The way I calculated it with your sixty grand in the bank you would need a job that paid 7,387 a year.  That isn't too hard to come up with i suspect.
If not you could try to get your bank assets up by perhaps doing cash advances on your credit card, selling your can or perhaps even borrowing the money for a bit.
The easiest thing I can see is just take a weekend job for a while and that would set you over the top.  That and with the 5,000 you already made this year should do it.
Best of  luck to you.

HI I forgot to mention that I have 60,000 dollars in saving in the bank. Is this enough to offset the shortage? I did find a cosponsor but he backed out. I wanted to do this on my own if possible. I will consider my parent but that is very slim that they will agree to it. Because I am in a same sex relationship that they dont approve of.

hello,

We have been approved for NOA2. I wanted to take step to prepare for the i134. I am currently a master degree student, I will graduate in May 2014. I worked at school during this year but it is not that much. Maybe around $5000 at the end of this year. But last year I collected $12,000 unemployment benefits (does that count as income too?). I have three years past income that is over the poverty guideline as well. Also, after I get out of my master degree, I can go to phd school. Which will pay me $18,000 per year for 4 years. But I wont have that letter of approval and information until Jan or Feb. So do they take future income into consideration? And the perspective that I am going for PHD degree, and afterwards it wont be hard for me to find good work at the university I am attending.

When do you have to submit the 1-134? Please help! thank you!

yes you can use the $55,000 in the bank, assets, to use them it would be 3 times the amount needed for a spouse and 5 times for all others, so which will they use? plan on 5 hope for 3.
as far as 100% or 125%, if you don't meet the 125% how could you in 90 days later after you marry and file or AOS,
No you can not use future income. I expect to win the lottery they would not let me use it.

But I can use my assets to cover my shortage right? IF I use my assets, I am well over 125% poverty line now. Is that a correct assumption?

Thank you for your replies. Do they take into account future income from PHD program which I will start in Sept 2014. Plus my assets is enough to live off for at least 5 years. Do you know any student that get denied because they dont make enough money? I would hate to be denied when we get to this stage. We worked so hard for this!

The i-134 follows the 100 % poverty line which comes out to be about 15,500 for two people. The i-184 follows the 125 percent poverty guideline of 19387.5. Thanks for your reply?

Anyone else can answers my questions I stated above? Thanks!

It is I-134 ( not I 864 ) for K-1 visa. The poverty guideline for 2 people is 19387.5 so you are short about 5K. I think 55K will cover your shortage .[/quote]

Hello,

I have some questions regarding the i134 requirement in Vietnam. So my income this year should come about to $15000. IF following the i134 income requirement, I am short $500. But if the consulate follow the i184 than I am short about 5K. First question is which income requirement does Vietnam consulate follow, the i-134 or i184? I do have about 55K assets in the bank that are easily use. Is this enough to cover my shortage? In addition, I have been reading mixes advise about asset divide by three or five? Which one is it?

I am trying to find a cosponsor but it is difficult to get someone to help me right now. Any advise? Thank you!
