OMG bowflex and mrsserendipity... I'm so glad to hear the good news! Congratulations! :D

Now I'm curious as to what kind of excuse they foisted on you.

haha, no excuse, no explanation, nothing. lawyer got a call this morning from her personally and all she said was "(our names) have been approved. advise them to just send her passport. they don't need to send anything else." then her secretary emailed our lawyer (we have a copy) and all she said was

As per our telcon of today May 18, 2007 Mrs. (me) may send her passport so we may continue to process her Immigrant Visa to completion.
Thank you for your patience.

ahhh, all my replies merged together. i'm not sure what happened.

hubby is mailing my passport as we speak :)

as for me, i have to call Rogers and see how much to cancel my cell early, which i assume will be a couple hundred? lol. my gym membership has been canceled. i should terminate my bank account too soon? so much to do. i'm waiting till he gets here in a couple hours, then we'll go see if the boys next door want all the video games and stuff :) as for everything else, i think i'll just leave to my family. i don't really need anything but my clothes, i already have everything else at his house.

You know, I had to read this twice because I was so stunned. I thought for sure I was reading it wrong. I wonder if that CO really did get hit by a truck like I had wished for her? Ooops. Did I say that in my outside voice?

Again.... my congratulations!!!

lol, yeah we're stunned still too. i feel like running a marathon or something, i have so much energy. my chest hurts, but i don't care, i'll get over it

lol, it's about time they got their act together. for us and for everyone in general :) i wonder if my father-in-law calling washington few days ago helped her to realize my husband and i are real people

ahhhhh, my replies are all rolling into one (at least on my screen). imma sign off before all my energy makes this computer explode, lol.

thank you to everyone and to those who just received their interview date... best of luck <3

CanadaChecklist/Affidavit of Support Question

for the k-1 , the I-134 will be needed at interview time

sounds so much easier.

didn't know. sowwy

from uscis.gov

When do I file a Form I-864 if my fiancé(e), spouse, or child is a “K” nonimmigrant?
If your relative is either a “K-1” fiancé(e), a “K-3” spouse, or a “K-2” or “K-4” child of fiancé(e) or spouse, you do not need to submit a Form I-864 at the time you file your Form I-129F petition. Instead, you should submit a Form I-864 at the time that your fiancé(e), spouse, or child adjusts status to permanent resident after coming to the United States.

quick edit: here's the link, has more info on it.

CanadaChecklist/Affidavit of Support Question
one will have to be sent with the package, another updated one will be required for the interview. at least that's how it is for cr-1. i'm not really sure what you're asking :/ if you can wait until you find a job to fill it out? my personal opinion would be TO wait. if you think it wouldnt take long to find a job, might as well wait and do it right. unless you have a ton of money in the bank and assets to cover it and make it well above what is recommended. keep in mind also after you file the support papers for k-1, the one for after you're married is different and more in depth. i didn't know that but saw someone post earlier about their k-1 support papers and they weren't like my cr-1, then i did some research and you'd have to file the other one later. i know it seems like it would add more time, but to have them send something back and then send it to review again will take even longer :/

good luck. just my opinion :)
mrsserendipityFemaleCanada2007-06-01 16:35:00
CanadaUpdated affadavit of support
in our interview date package it asked to have a current one/updated one with you at the interview. they didn't even look at ours though or ask for it. if you can just fill one out just in case, i'd say just to be safe do it. they didn't look at a lot of our documents, but for some they concentrate a lot on certain things. i guess it depends on who you get and what mood they're in. however, i do remember in the final packet they mentioned to bring a current one for the cr-1 interview.

CanadaUSCIS Fee increases and its affect on CR1 Visas
it cost us a lot more than we thought. good idea saving some in case of unexpected fees. i kept forgetting montreal was long distance to call from windsor, too, hah, and each time was on hold for roughly half an hour :bonk:
mrsserendipityFemaleCanada2007-05-31 23:18:00
CanadaUSCIS Fee increases and its affect on CR1 Visas
honestly, considering the total cost of everything else that needed to be done, the fee difference really wouldn't have mattered to us. there were so many other things that added up. plus, with these kinds of things you can't really pinch pennies, it's a huge deal. a little saved here could be added later in ... extra lawyer fees or a plane on time or other travel arrangements. best of luck. don't pick the rest of your life and your journey there based on a few numbers :) do what's right for you, the money will not matter after it's all over. just my opinion anyway

i'm not really able to laugh about it yet at this point. the lady we had was just a royal ####### and decided to screw us over for no reason. it's been two months since our interview that SHE facked up. if she had just said oops my bad, or i'm sorry and just fixed it, instead of taking two months to yell at us and our lawyer and even the senator! and then i keep hearing how everyone is receiving theirs who came after us....and we're supposed to believe they're backed up that much? gimmie a break. obviously they're just playing with us. look at everyone else posting...received it within a couple days. not waiting 2 months.

the envelope with my passport TO montreal says it was received and signed for on the 23rd. if montreal sent it the next day, it would've appeared on the tracking online, eh? when they asked for my passport they said it would be sent out the next day, so i'm just curious. did anyone have an interview around that time- did they send yours? i'm not complaining at this point about the waiting by any means, we've waited a couple years, haha, we both would just feel better once it's finally in the mail. just curious. and antsy  i know USPS didn't update right away but was behind.

When did you have your interview? I had my interview on May 31st. My passport arrived in Mississauga, Ontario today June 4th along with the Top Secret yellow envelope that I have to take to the border.

april 5, 2007

she decided to make up lies about me having apparantly been in the US illegally, with nothing to back it up- said denied. our lawyer sent in our documents asking her to actually look at them and we got the senator involved and she took 5 weeks to "review" then said oh send the passport friday may 18. we send it that afternoon. still nothing yet. they keep playing games with us. no record of it on canada post. emailed them, lawyer called them, the lady said it was "JUST printed" and will be sent out. i don't see why after they made up lies they also decided to take 5-6 weeks to review something that they already had at the interview but she refused to read anything. and now they're playing more games with us.

i'm sick of this.

everyone else has received their stuff.

it's been 2 months. we did nothing wrong, they kept lying then not telling us why, then ignoring us, then yelling at us. it's a mess.

she emailed and said i should be RECEIVING it today or tomorrow, but it hasnt been sent yet.

i have no idea what their problem has been with us from the beginning

quic edit: oh and also, i keep reading how everyone after us has receivd theirs, so they're purposely avoiding ours again. for no reason. she did something stupid at the interview and instead of trying to fix it she keeps giving us more #######, like WE did something wrong. they're not backed up... look at all of you who've received your visas. this is bullshiit

well, now they're saying it will be sent out next monday. WHY? everyone else who had theirs AFTER us already received theirs. said it was printing out today but the mail had already gone out. yeah whatever.

since when do they send our visas on monday anyway. this is another one of their freakin lies. they keep feeding us bullshizznizz. it's been two months, get with the program. stop lying. stop pretending like we did something wrong. YOU did something wrong. instead of fixing it, you're punishing us further.

they better send it out monday like they said. no one else on here has had problems with them like we have FOR NO REASON. and if you have, share. we had interview, didn't look at our docs, said denied, we sent in the stuff for her to actually read, she said two days, turned into 5 weeks, said send passport, approved, will be sent the next day, no explanation, no apology, nothing, we send it in that afternoon, two weeks pass, we finally get in contact with them, they say oh it's being reviewed, reviewed?, it's already been approved, lawyer calls, oh we JUST printed out the visa they say but too late to send out today will send monday. they dont send out visas mondays, as far as ive seen.

Mrsserendipity
I think by reading all these posts that the Consulate officer asks different questions to everyone.....depending on the officer I guess. I wish it was all just standard and they had to ask certain questions and that is it. But then what fun would it be??!?!?!!!???
I was given my passports back and had to send them in with the divorce decree. The Consulate officer said everything is in order and they just needed the divorce decree.....so as far as I'm concerned it is approved pending the final processing. It gives me something to worry about is all. I was kinda hoping they would have done it. I guess my case isn't any more a rush than the rest of them. (yup, still feeling sad that I hadn't gotten it right in the first place......urgh!!!)

well, i just mean they didnt ask how we met, how long together, anything that we heard them asking other couples that day. they didnt ask for his updated financial stuff, my xrays, police certificate, they asked for nothing, they asked no questions. i figured since it was a spousal visa they might ask something about our relationship...anything. and since i've read how others didn't have enough proof or affidavit of support and such....but we got nothing but her attitude.

i'm waiting for mine too.....i had to send some more ppwk into Vancouver and I know they got the envelope from Cda post on the 25th. I have also developed the OCD thing with checking....lmao

When I had my interview in Vancouver, I did not (bang my head) have my fiances original divorce decree (duh), so I obtained a certified copy from the powers that be and sent it off. The Consulate said it would be a 1 day process at their end and then they would send it out. Thank goodness I wrote the express mailer return number down so I could check 50000000 times a day to see if they sent it.

I can't relax either...........

We were both @ the interview, however we had his final divorce certificate, but lady @ the window did not ask to give her this doc.
She just listed doc, and I provided all she asked for, but she did not ask for this cert, neither person who interviewed us.
Now I'm worried they may realize that it is missing in the folder and ask me to resend them.
I thought don't ask/tell anything extra unless it asked by them.
Actually I 129 petion has copy of it, not sure if this is suficient and they will be looking it.

they said you were approved and took your passport though, right? then again, nothing they do ever surprises me anymore (montreal). at our "interview" the lady didn't take over half of our things and didn't look at anything just made up some stuff about me having been there illegally at some point and said we were to leave. but i was never there illegally, lol, and i have no idea where she came up with it, so our lawyer sent more of my papers there again (so she can actually READ them this time) and she took 5 extra weeks, then said fine, approved, send passport, now she's taking her time again. ahhhhh :/

quick edit: she also didn't ask neither of us ONE question about our relationship, lol.

Canadaanother little question...
i had to get a passport from the FORMER country of yugoslavia cause that's where i was born (although have not lived there since 1st grade), and Serbia said tough luck, but i kept pressing and pressing, and it cost several hundred dollars plus couple hundred to get it expedited. they wouldnt give me a serbian one, but a yugoslavian one. even though that country doesnt exist anymore. it's a mess. i had to call my aunt in europe to drive several hours last minute to the small city i was born in and get a birth certificate for me, too, lol. and the passport was in my maiden name, which pissed off the consulate.

my point? it could always be worse, hah
mrsserendipityFemaleCanada2007-05-30 23:05:00
CanadaMTL Interview Question

I don't know why it took so long for them to put me on the waiting list after they received everything in November.

All I know is the 2nd time I e-mailed them in March, I was told to stop bothering them and wait out the 4 months from January 12th. That is when I was put on the waiting list for the interview according to the e-mail they sent me.

Now that the 4 months are up, my patience is running thin when it comes to getting answers from the consulate...

Has anyone had any luck by contacting their sponsors congressional leaders to inquire on their behalf?

a good senator will do it and do it fast. another one we contacted said it would be a couple weeks to review and blah blah blah. as weird as this sounds, i say phone your senators and shop around

as for montreal, we keep being told to wait too. except we're in a different position. they keep saying they're aggravated with us for calling, but we just keep calling when they ask us to call back and check ("within a couple days" "within 7-10 days" "within 4-6 WEEKS" i think they pull numbers from their #######, personally, just to get us to not call), lol.
mrsserendipityFemaleCanada2007-05-03 16:14:00
CanadaMTL Interview Question
my husband and i finally got fed up with waiting and called them (we read on here about others who called and found out they DID already have an interview scheduled, they just didn't get back to them). many of us at that time heard really late and had to make reservations and medical appointments within a couple days. i say give them a call, won't hurt to try :) we didn't actually get our interview letter until a couple weeks after they set it up. i assume they don't like to pay extra for fast delivery? haha. also, we were told interviews are scheduled around mid-month for the following month, so mid-to-end of month is a good time to call :) good luck
mrsserendipityFemaleCanada2007-05-03 02:37:00
Canadatempoary Reject after my interview..
hope everything works out well. do you have an estimate for how long till you get the co-sponsor's filled-out application? the paper they give out says 10 days for review of additional documents, but on their machine when you call it says 2-3 weeks. or at least it did a few weeks ago when i last had to call. just saying if that 10 days has passed, don't worry :) might just be another week or so. ours took 5 weeks once they received it, but i don't think you should have a problem. they do tend to take any and every holiday known to man off, lol.

also, do not get heartbroken if your tracking number doesn't show up on canadapost online. ours came before it was on there :)

wish you smooth sailing after this technicality

CanadaDoes illegal immigration upset you big time too?

you do not like the law, move to a different country.

Seems you're the one who has a problem with the status quo. Maybe you should move. (ETA: this is sarcasm because I think the idea of telling someone that if they don't like such and such about America they should move is completely asinine)

And yes, I am for a more liberal overall immigration policy. Sorry that makes you so angry.

you do not make me angry. i thought we were all just having a discussion?

who's status quo? has the bill passed? that doesn't make any sense. you're the one who's not happy with how things are.

My point is that illegal immigration does not get me all riled up. The status quo is the current state of affairs, i.e. the presence of 12 million illegal immigrants. Presumably, you're not ok with that.

As for making you angry, sorry I jumped to conclusions. But as soon as someone tells me to get out of my country, I assume that I have hit a nerve.

my problem is with the immigration bill. i feel for some of these people. i do not however think they should be given amnesty. there will ALWAYS be illegal immigration, that is not my problem. my problem is how the US wants to deal with them.

the bill is ridiculous. can we with that? it doesn't make any sense. i realize they're trying to change some parts, but they want the illegal immigrants to first go back to their countries and apply. they will never do that.

i wasn't literally telling you to leave.

other people have said the same thing here in the VJ forums before, and they meant it. 'Tis a natural reaction to take is at face value. ;)

i wouldn't literally tell someone to leave. who the hellll am i to do that? haha. i get confused when they say how great of a country this is, but then they don't like how it functions. it is by far far from perfect, but compared to other countries, it is a great place.
mrsserendipityFemaleCanada2007-06-15 14:19:00
CanadaDoes illegal immigration upset you big time too?
I am not sure if I am right but it seems that you where not born a American citizen but now live in the US and have done all the proper things to be here right?
And if this is the case I applaud you for your view point coming from someone not born here. Americans are made up of all people from all over the world and that’s what helps make this the country it now is. But what I feel is even greater is that coming here like you did the right way and saying it like it is. Is the real definition of being American. Not all the paper work that says what one my be.

i was born in former yugoslavia. when clinton was bombing the area, we had our aunt sponsor us and we came to the US legally on a visa. then we filed timely papers for others files. then after 9/11, they started screwing with us. i was still under my parent's application. then our lawyer decided to end his practice, we didn't receive something we were supposed to, we were asked to leave. we left right away before having to be deported and went legally into canada. i had already been with my now-husband for years, so we continued our relationship, we were also just across the bridge from each other. we waited a few more years, got married. we decided for me to come to the US. i now have permanent residence. it was all worth it.

But as soon as someone tells me to get out of my country, I assume that I have hit a nerve.

my problem is with the immigration bill. i feel for some of these people. i do not however think they should be given amnesty. there will ALWAYS be illegal immigration, that is not my problem. my problem is how the US wants to deal with them.

the bill is ridiculous. can we agree with that? it doesn't make any sense. i realize they're trying to change some parts, but they want the illegal immigrants to first go back to their countries and apply. they will never do that.

i wasn't literally telling you to leave.

quick edit: i think if their main goal is to become citizens, they should've been happy with the bill, but instead they bitched, it wasn't easy and fast enough.

then what happens to the people who come after the bill if it passes?
