We are currently taking steps to move to Africa now, setting up a business and building a home for us now, were not trying to get rich off the backs of others, just want to support our families

As far as details of 2nd interview:

We got there at 1:45pm with appt at 3:00 and they told us to go away and come back at 3:00. We went back at 2:40 and they let us in. We were in the waiting room by 2:50 and there were 14 others there waiting. I was sure it would be a long wait, but by 3:05 they had called 7 of the people already, they were there just to pick up visas. Then at 3:10 they called us back to window 4. She swore us in and then said we would be interview seperately. Then she asked if I brought anything we wanted to add to the case, so I showed her the HUGE folder I had and told her what was in it. I attempted to push it through the window and she said she would have someone get it. Then she said for me to go sit down, I actually had to go back to the waiting room, seperated by glass doors. I know others have said they were allowed to wait in the same area and hear all the questions. I was SO nervous when they sent me out. I prayed he would get the questions right. She called me in at 3:30 the questions were:

What date we met?
Where did we meet?
What website?
Did we meet through a friend?
Are you absolutely certain of the website because your husband said a different one?
Do you have any siblings?
How many?
Does your husband have any siblings?
How many?
Did your husband propose?
When?
Are you certain he proposed?
When was the first time you saw him face to face?
Are you sure of that date your husband gave another date?
Can I see the stamp in your passport?
Does your husband visit his family often?
Will you travel to his country?

I answered the questions filling in with information she didn't ask for which actually was a good thing because it helped when it came time to explain our different answers. Then she told me she needed to speak to Moses again because there were discreptancies. I was certain it was over right then but kept on praying. I heard her reask the questions and he stuck with his answers, then she asked me to come back to the window. THANKFULLY when I explained how it could be confused she accepted my explaination. She asked when I was leaving the country and I gave her our tickets. That is when we went through the whole airline ticket stuff I wrote of earlier. She then disappeared for awhile and came back, she gave us a green ticket, she had us wait there at the window while she sent everything electronically and received confirmation of acceptance. She told us if there were any problems she would know by Friday before end of day (end of day here on Friday is like 1pm) Friday afternoon has come and gone with no call so all must be well and we will pick up our visa on Monday.

It is AMAZING to see the hand of God through our process. By all accounts we should not be picking up a visa, we should be preparing to appeal a denial. There is NO EXPLANATION but God!! We know for certain had we had the officer who first interview my husband in August we would have failed. It was God who placed her before us because the other officer was in the next window and took the next person, it was God who softened her heart and gave her the ears to listen to us completely. I have read of others who were not allowed to explain that their words were cut off. I had a boldness in me that normally I do not have with those in authority over me.

We compared notes afterwards and he was asked all the same questions.
I am happy for you congratulations I am still waiting for our interview date

Are you following any shortcut or guide from Visa Journey?

This is a very good guide, and it will answer all your questions: http://www.visajourn...he_NVC_ShortCut

And just so you know there is no difference between the forms, I think the DS 3032 is the only one that comes with a bar code, but if you read that Guide you can make your own barcode and send with the form, that's what I did and it worked out fine. But anyway you don't need that anymore, the rest of the forms you will need you can download from the travel state.gov site, they usually have the last updated forms.
If you read that guide I linked you will see how we do to send the forms. smile.gif
Good luck. smile.gif

when emaling the ds 3230, did you complete the form, scaned it and attached to an email. Or did you use the format from quick guide..how long did it take to get a response. thank you

I actually come from an African country where dowry is being given(groom pays bride price) BUT it's not like furnishing houses or giving gold and those kinda stuff. It's just some food stuff and it's definitely not something which would take a lot out of you, I have very nice in-laws who actually didn't want anything from my family, all they wanted was the food stuffs given to their elders back in the villages. It's all a ceremony and not one that involves a lot of money, definitely no gold or house furnishing...it involves a lot of laughter and happiness!

Payment of dowry doesn't bring about death where I come from(never come across that) and I would understand a few on here don't like it, it's normally a time of being merry and bonding for both families. I don't like the idea that you are FORCED to do it because we have a saying where I come from, that you can never finish paying the bride price; It simply means you will always be indebted to them for raising a beautiful and strong woman for you to marry. Most places, any amount of money paid to the bride's family is returned during the ceremony and that symbolises buying every beating and physcial abuse...so you better not touch our daughter kinda thing. Dowry should not be used to change one's financial status, it's just a symbolic ceremony.

I love my culture and I wouldn't stop it because some think it is barbaric or whatever name you choose to call it. I enjoyed it so much and having an understanding in-laws is paramount but then you would find out about your husband's family when dating to know them before getting to that stage; you might have ignored the tell-tale signs about them in the hope that maybe you are just being paranoid but sometimes the earlier you heed to those signs the better for you.

I would advice you to use the visa, don't let it go to waste and being a doctor you have a lot of opportunities to start your life all over again. It's his loss if he's trying to make you pay all that and encourages his family. I would never allow a woman I love go through that but don't let them win! He's officially signed a binding document and for now you can live in the states, hopefully he'll realise before it's too late what he is about to loose.

All the best.
I just got married about 6mths ago and I paid my wife dowry. At 1st when I heard that I had to pay I got mad and upset because I didn't understand. My wife was suprised at me because I didn't know the difference between culture and tradition. But I did things her way our ceremony started Friday morning and wewere blessed at the mosque then that night there was the traditional dancing, next day I was introduced to the elders and we did the kola. Some of the elders there traveled over 12 to 16hrs just to be there, the next day we did the civil marriage at the Ministry of Forgien Affairs and I the paid my wifes dowery because of who she/and her family was the multiplied the amount by 10 so I paid 5000gf or at the time about 80 us cents . But her faimy and the elders gave my mother and my family cloths, food, guinean money . Even now a lot of things happen that I don't fully understand because of our different cultures but I am happy and proud of what was done. And I am blessed to be in the family that I have now. But let me say this if you are married and you have your visa and you come here to live in the states your problems just go away. Family is very important and when you come here to the states you will see how inportant your family, beliefs cultures and tradition.

Hiiii Ppl,
My husband filed k3 in dec'2008 wid VSC. we are still waiting for NOA2 and interview letter...
is anyone in the same situation..its been over 8 months now for us waiting for the process to complete..soooo frustrating sad.gif

I filed mine in Feb and still no Noa2 I can't believe that its taking so long the last time my case was touched was the begining of March I want to go and see my wife but I don't want to fly over stay a few weeks then leave her again come back here and then start saving again because I will travel there for her interview, which btw she will have to go to a whole other country for the interview because the embassy in Guinea does not process visa there . This whole process makes me wonder if the people at uscis is really human, do they have a family and. Do they know that they hold the lives of many families in their hands . Sorry for rambling but I am still wating for my NOA2 also.

I have just checked the NVC Avr and says that on sept 11 the mailed me a RFE because 1 or some of my documents was either incomplete or missing. I have no idea what they could be looking for I hope that its a false RFE, when I paid my AOS (I was told by the operator that it was ok to do so) 2 wks later the NVC sent me the email saying that my DS3032 had be accepted, then on the August 31 I sent in my DS230 with all of the civil documents the PCC and everything and I sent it in by express mail, the same day that I sent it in later that night about 10pm i got a email the checklist letter Response saying that i had to return the bar code sheet that came with the letter, but I had all ready sent the package off that day so I call the operator and told her she said that it was ok, but I did send in the barcode sheet that says that I had paid the DS230, either the NVC is slow at getting the information to me or I am moving to fast so now I must wait for the mail to come to my home to see what they really want or I hope and pray that its a FALSR RFE

I was going thorough my documents and I have my orginal birth certificate here with me (I am the petitioner) was I suppose to send that also . Dont tell me that I made a stupid bone headed mistake like that ?
