I was reminded of this story today and since it made me laugh again, I thought I'd share.....

Before I met Andre, I dated this other Andre....who we will call Jacka$$ for fun.....and cause he is one! Well, Jacka$$ calls me one day and tells me he got me the coolest present. He went on and on about how amazing and cool it was for weeks. Now, I dated him about 5 months then and I thought he knew me pretty well. So, I go to visit and he hands me this belt. It's black with this silver lace all over it. Shiny silver lace. The buckle is this gigantic broach looking thing......like Grandma's favorite UGLY broach. It's at least 6 inches or so in diameter. A gigantic ugly silver flower. That......get this...........ARE YOU READY????????? It lights up. I kid you not. There are several buttons to push-----it lights up all white, flashing white, flashing red, blue, and yellow, and pulsating flashes of all 4 colors. It's so freaking ugly. And he's so excited about it. Made me wear it down to the disco. In fact, I think the first time I met Andre, I had this ugly a$$ thing on.

Of course, I have to call everyone and tell them about it when I get home. I rush over to my cousin's to show her how hidious it is. To recreate wearing it to the disco, I turn off her lights and dance around. My other cousin walks in the room and says "you know you have a neon sign pointing to your crouch?" I nearly peed my pants.

I still keep that ugly thing as a reminder of what a real jacka$$ he was and that he never really knew me at all. I also keep hoping the stupid battery will wear out one day!!!!!! Andre cracks up every time he sees it.

I'm not sure I've ever trusted a man to get me a gift after that incident.

Anyone get a more hideous present???????????????

ROTFLMAO

I just can't believe that we are here...I've cried...worried...screamed and agonized over this day and it is finally here! (I hope it's not anti-climatic! laughing.gif ) We start our physical journey together as a power couple tonight...however our powerful love and spiritual togetherness has been there from day one!

I want to take a moment to tell all of you how grateful I am for your support and acts of kindness over the last nine months! Whether it's our seasoned Elders that helped me every step of the way or our welcomed new additions that have sent up their prayers upon our behalf! I feel truly blessed and humbled to be around such inspiring women everyday!

I recently read a thread about what MENA VJ means to a member...Well here's what Yardie VJ means to me:

Friendship, Sisterhood, Guidance, Patience, Understanding, Love, Nuturing, Compassion, Laughter, Tears, and a place to exhale!

THANK YOU GUYS FOR MAKING MY FIRST LEG OF THIS JOURNEY A LOT EASIER TO BARE... Sometimes we don't get to tell people in our lives how much of an impact they make upon us...Well, I didn't want to let this opportunity pass without letting ALL of you know how each and everyone of you have touched our lives (Ken & I). Each and everyone of you in some small way share in Ken's arrival here today...so again...We thank you! luv.gif

We got an Interview Date ------------------- March 11, 2008 @ 8:00am

I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUESTION CONCERNING INTERVIEW?????????????????

1. Does my SO's child have to go to the interview?

2. Does my SO's child have to get a medical as well?

We filed K-3 and her daughter is a K-4

Sorry 1 more question?????????

How many days past the interview should I plan on before she can come to America?

Need to buy plane tickets and I want to be safe.

Jason, congratulations, if I haven't told you already. Yes, your SO's child will have to go to the interview and will need to do a medical as well. If she's under the age of 15, she will not be required to do an HIV test. Here is the Kingston Medical information.

Can't wait to hear that you were approved good.gif

JA...? Can I make the appointment for my husband medical or does he have to make it himself?
Hey Dimples, either one of you can schedule the appointment. They're going to ask for his interview date; they are going to try and schedule the interview at least 2 weeks before he has to go to the Embassy. This is just awesome. My hubby was in St. Catherine, so he went to Andrews Memorial. The stories were funny because they are going to tell him to strip and inspect him things!!! laughing.gif that was the part hubby never like, standing around naked in the doctor's office.

My husband is in St. Catherine as well......Hopefully we will hear something good this week.....It has almost been a year now..... whistling.gif

Unruly Gal/Gill,

Its so funny on Wednesday morning he seemed to be doing everything he could possibly think of to prolong taking me to the airport. He fooled around so much that I even had time to make breakfast. Then once we finally leave the house he makes 50,000 stops. The bank, gas station, picking up friends along the road to give rides etc. When finally I had to say, "sweety you know I don't want to leave you and all, but if you make me miss this flight, we are going to have some problems..He then looks at me and says,,,"Okay, okay, okay!... Gill you remind me of him saying hush..He tells me that all the time.

Unruly, I think I've kind of mastered the not crying part now. Although it feels like I'm leaving my best friend or a part of me behind everytime I leave him..Its like a huge lump in stomach, almost makes me sick.

That is funny.....I hear "hush" quite often.......

Wanted to share this "The POWER of a SMILE"

In 2000 I was working at a hospital here in Maryland and when I worked the weekend I would see this young couple come in. When I first noticed them the wife looked like she was about 200lbs then as the months went by she had dropped her weight drastically. The last time I saw this couple the wife looked like she weighed no more than 100lbs. I never knew what was wrong with her and never asked (wasn't my place).

Yesterday I was the supermarket and this police officer walked up to me and asked is my name Novelette and I hesitated and said, yes. He started to cry out of control and of course I didn't know what to do. I just gave him a hug, I don't know why, it was just all I could do at the time. Of course people are looking at us like we're crazy. After I got him to calm down, I asked him what was wrong. He said, you don't remember me or my wife, but I remember you. I remember your big beautiful smile and that you and your family are from Jamaica. Now, I have a puzzled look on my face.

He began by telling me about his wife's battle with cancer and that she died 7 years ago (I've not seen this couple since 2000) and of all the people he remembered while she was receiving chemo treatments at the hospital he remember my face the most. He remembered my smile. He said, his wife would look forward to seeing my smiling face and how it brigthen her day knowing how bad she was going to feel after her treatments. We talked for about an hour or so. I'm telling you, I've never know a person to love another like this man loved his wife. They were so young. I think she was 27 at the time she got sick.

Before we exchanged information, he told me THANK YOU...and I said, anytime, you're more than welcome. Sometimes all it takes is a smile to brighten someone's day.

OH Lawney.........Hugs to you girl........You made such an impact on this couple........God Bless YOU!

Good morning -- as much as I hate to admit it, it is very true. That's why I told him don't tell anyone. His friends don't ask because they think we're married and since I'm Jamaican they assume I'm moving back home soon. His immediate family don't really know everything 100% yet. His older brother knows, but I choose to leave everyone else out. Although his family is nice, some of them I don't get good vibes from. Especially his aunt from queens, who is still bad mouthing me and has since move to Maryland. She will never know where I live. I forgot to tell ya'll when I was in Jamaica last month she asked me if I was pregnant in front of about 30 people...then replied, oh, it's just the heavy weight mad.gif She doesn't like me because she feels that I'm too old for her nephew. Always saying, look how much young women in Jamaica, why u go pick up di old ooman wid pickney. I've cussed her out before and if she comes that way to me again, ya'll may see me on the 6 o'clock news mad.gif

Lawney,

Girl....you are so funny......when we were in Negril.....A lady at the beach park........she was very nice built....a nice shape for an older woman......Drew ordered my lunch.....and he ordered me pork.....and made the comment that I really liked pork......She looked at me......with a very pleasant attitude.....and says to me and Drew......thats why pudgy........I know Drew was about to die.....Not knowing if I was gonna lose it on this woman or what........ blink.gif

Wakey -- Tonya, I been hearing lawddddd what a way u nice and FAT! or what a piece a BAXIDE...u ago mad di man dem. I never bothered me. It's the culture. Some of my friends think I'm INSANE, because I'll walk around NAKED at a beach. LOVE HEDONISM.... and there's another all adult resort in Ocho (can't remember the name). All I can say is LORD ave merci! I'll put on my 2 piece and say the hell with everyone else. To me, my body is perfeccccctttt, matter a fact it's the bomb! I want to get back to a size 16 though, because I was comfortable and found clothes that I liked easily. I'm in a 20 now. I want to also get back down to maybe 180. I can't be smaller than that I do't look right. I'm pushing 225lbs now. I was almost 300lbs when my son's father was stressing me. I remember when I was pregnant with my son, the first thing my doctor said was "YOU SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERED LOSING WEIGHT BEFORE YOU GOT PREGNANT, NOW YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS AND END UP WITH GESTATIONAL DIABETIES"...I ran out of his office crying, but not before CUSSING him out.

Lawney...
You are such an inspiration......It sounds like you and I have some likeness.......I am almost 6ft tall......can wear anywhere between 18-20.......I am around the 200 mark......but would like to be around 160.......anyway.....I am who I am........PUDGY!!!! rofl.gif

offtopic45vn.gif I need some help!

As you all know Andrew was approved on April 15th......However, on April 25, he was involved in a car accident.......At the time of his interview, he was not on any medication.......Since the accident, he has been put on a prescription.......He has a prescription for 2 refills on a 30 day supply......

Should I have him fill those prescriptions before he leaves Jamaica and bring them through customs?

Should I have him just bring the paper prescription and get him a doctors appt here soon?

He needs these meds and I am scared that it will be a mess with customs when he comes through if he brings them?

HELP!

Peace & Love,
Tonya

Does anyone know if i need to send NVC the 2 copies of the police certificate or should I keep one and send another photo copy of it also? I got 2 form hubby and they both have his passport photo stapled to them so now I am not sure if I am supposed to send them both or just send one?

Morning Marlita.....

We sent in both original copies with passport photos attached just like he got them back.....However, I made me a copy of everything I sent them.......Girl at window during interview process tried to make us produce the 2nd copy while it was in the folder in front of her......

United KingdomLondon medical experiences

Just wanted to know how it was for you guys, Been scared of the doctors since i was a kid, and im dreading having my medical, havent even plucked up the courage to book it yet, so how scary is it..lol

Hayley, trust me, it is nothing to worry about. I don't know why they even call it a medical - it is just another excuse for them to take money off you, that's all.

When I went with my daughter, there were a load of people in the waiting room - a woman at the entrance to the room, totting up the HUGE amount of money she was collecting - and everyone seemed nervous. Turns out it wasn't necessary to be nervous at all.

I went, with my daughter to another waiting area. Then shown into this room where they took a chest x-ray - something nobody ever looked at, and it was not needed ever again. I still have it in the original brown envelope here at the house. The guy at the POE in Washington DC didn't want it - said I could keep it!

Then my daughter and I went into the examination room. I was asked by a young nurse to put on a blue robe thingy, as did my daughter. When the doctor came in - she was about 25 and very nervous herself. She listened to my chest and back, you could see her hands trembling. She examined my boobs, but I swear it was no more than someone accidently skimming their hand across you. She did exactly the same with my daughter and that was it!

Money for old rope! Don't be scared, really. It's just a racket!

United KingdomPaying UK taxes while living in the US???

I guess if one returns to the UK for good they never have to worry about it. Of course, you never know what life will hold and if you thought for any reason you might return you probably want to think about being up to date on your tax returns. And you are supposed to fill out the tax returns even if you don't have to pay US tax, or so I had been informed.

Yup! That's what I have read too. That if you are a USC you are required to file a US tax return every year. I guess if you did want to return to the US to live at any time in the future it would be a good idea to comply! lol

Personally, if we are to return to the UK, which may be our only option to remain together as a family, I wouldn't ever want to return here, so they wouldn't get one from me.

We were talking about "unlawful presence" with an attorney/ex.congressman the other day and he was really pressing the point that this was something we needed to avoid at all costs, to avoid my son receiving a bar from re-entry to the US. I said "Do you think, that if my son is deported from this country, when he has done nothing wrong, that any of us would ever want to set foot in this country again?" He didn't seem to get it!

If we are given no choice but to return to the UK, I would renounce my US citizenship in a heartbeat. Uncle Sam is getting nothing from me if he can't give my family what they are rightfully entitled to.
