Africa: Sub-Saharan	Interview for minor	I am a U.S. Citizen married to a nigerian and I have petitioned for his daughters to come live with us in the U.S. Does anyone know if it will be an issue for their grandparents to take them to their interview in Lagos? Africa: Sub-Saharan	Easing the Transition to U.S. Life...	The transition has brought so many mixed emotions for my husband. He left Nigeria to go to school in London, his family was going to follow. The love of his life (at that time) and mother of his children passed away right after leaving Nigeria. That as we all know made things for him very hard. His daughters in Nigeria were now with his parents and it is a very hard to travel back and forth while on the student visa and limited money to travel on as we all know it cost so much to fly back and forth. We met through a mutal friend and started a relationship, I flew back and forth to London while we were waiting on the visa for him to come to the U.S to be completed. Once he arrived here in the U.S. things were hard at first, he could not just start driving becasue he did not have a U.S. license yet. We live in the country so public transportaition means calling a cab or being dropped off somewhere. For me working full time and him setting home all day while I worked and he did not know anyone but my family and one other friend at the time. So the first months were tough. WOW once he was able to drive I had the life he drove me back and forth to work everyday just so he could have the car during the day until we could get another car. As for his traditional food I was willing to learn how to prepare whatever it was he wanted. His sister's helped me through it and now he also enjoys all types of food. We are currently in the process of bringing the girls here to live with us, they go for their interview on September 9th. PRAISE GOD we will finally have all of our family together, all of us together at last.. My girls + his girls=our girls, happiness and family.. Just a note***For those that are already here in the U.S. and are bringing your loved one over it is up to us to make the journey easier and happier. Africa: Sub-Saharan	DNA APPOINTMENT	I AM A U.S. CITIZEN AND MY STEP DAUGHTERS WERE SUPPOSE TO HAVE THEIR DNA SWAB TODAY AT THE U.S.EMBASSY IN NIGERIA, WE HAVE HAD THE APPOINTMENT FOR A MONTH OR MORE. WHEN MY FATHER IN LAW ARRIVED AT THE EMBASSY HE WAS TOLD THAT THE EMBASSY WAS CLOSED FOR A PUBLIC HOLIDAY. WHY WOULD WE NOT HAVE RECEIVED A NOTICE OF A DATE CHANGE OR SOMETHING. MY FATHER IN LAW STATED THE PUBLIC HOLIDAY WAS JUST PUT INTO PLACE IT WAS NOT ALREADY SET PREVIOUSLY. ARE WE GOING TO WAIT FOR A NEW DATE OF IF HE SHOWS UP AT THE EMBASSY ON WEDNESDAY WITH THE GIRLS WILL THEY SEE THE GIRLS THEN AND DO THE DNA SWAB? I have done and sent everything that was mentioned, so the only other thing I can think of is to send proof that we have communication on a regular basis with the girls and that my husband and I have our bills, mortgage and etc together. My husband and I just finished the DNA a couple months ago the girls had their interview today and now they say the medical we completed a couple months back is expired so they need a new one but I see the light at the end and it is the most beautiful light with two lovely little faces calling me mommy. But when we started the entire process even for my husband we sent in wedding gown receipts, copy of engagement from newspaper. Send more evidence than what they even ask for it cannot hurt. Africa: Sub-Saharan	Denied !	My husband and I had only been together twice before he went for his interview. He is from Nigeria but was in London when he had to go for his interview. He did tell me that he was sure the way he was able to answer the questions with good eye contact and the way he showed his confidence in the relationship we have was what made everything for us go so smoothly. I am sure if you ask your fiance how he answered his questions you will see that at some point something either happened or a question was asked that he may have not felt 100% with his answer and the person doing the interview could see that. I am sitting here at work reading you guys posts and just feeling so overwhelmed right now, I am actually teary-eyed I have no-one to talk to who understands what or how I am feeling. Well...... Hey Claire..... I am patiently waiting like you.......We were approved 12/13/07 and still waiting for a date.....However, just a bit of info......We got an RFE due to a date on one of his places of living.......I listed since the age of 17 not 16......but they told me that #20 was wrong.....I again changed it.......and sent it back in.....it only cost us 2 weeks.......but that could have been the difference between a Feb date and March date.... They continued to watch until it reached the last number and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order. Finally the walls opened up again and a gorgeous, voluptuous 19-year-old woman stepped out. The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, says quietly to his son, "Bwoy... Go get yuh moddah!" I live for these morning jokes.....they are so GREAT!......On another note......I am flying out of here tomorrow morning to go and see my baby!......It has been since March and I am so excited.....I will get to stay with him until Monday when I have to fly back home to the real life with the 14yo.......LOL......Catch you all when I get back........ The Jamaican begins to pee in the glass. When he done fill it, 'im wife ask, "But Winston, why is one glass tonite?" Plus he will be doing extra errands like bank deposits for us and dropping off piece to Ken's brothers. The only problem is when deh ride break down...but thus far it's been minor. These were two guys that dont even know each other..maybe it depends where you live? I am hoping they are right. hmm... Where do you guys run taxi? Yes Shrewdie, You're right...I stink at Math ...around $100 US dollars a day is what I was going for!(which is equivilent to $7000...duh) We run between Mo Bay - Falmouth (trelawny). But it's a hustle cause dem pack up deh people like sardines fi mek dem $$. I don't even use the taxi when I go down. We usually just rent a car...cause my big body likes SPACE!!! Bless, Gill Shew!! Good!!! Woo hoo! I am really looking forward to him having that extra income!! I know, right. When we ever take a taxi we usually charter so we are the only pple they pick up. Christmas is such a hard time of year for me anyway because my 18yo son was tragically killed in an automobile accident in June 2005........From Thanksgiving until after Christmas, it is so hard on me..... I started getting out my Christmas decorations on Sunday morning before church and got upset and crying......pulled myself together.......went to church and cried some more....... A gigantic ugly silver flower. That......get this...........ARE YOU READY????????? It lights up. I kid you not. There are several buttons to push-----it lights up all white, flashing white, flashing red, blue, and yellow, and pulsating flashes of all 4 colors. It's so freaking ugly. And he's so excited about it. Made me wear it down to the disco. In fact, I think the first time I met Andre, I had this ugly a$$ thing on. Of course, I have to call everyone and tell them about it when I get home. I rush over to my cousin's to show her how hidious it is. To recreate wearing it to the disco, I turn off her lights and dance around. My other cousin walks in the room and says "you know you have a neon sign pointing to your crouch?" I nearly peed my pants. I still keep that ugly thing as a reminder of what a real jacka$$ he was and that he never really knew me at all. I also keep hoping the stupid battery will wear out one day!!!!!! Andre cracks up every time he sees it. I'm not sure I've ever trusted a man to get me a gift after that incident.
