Africa: Sub-SaharanInterview for minor
I am a U.S. Citizen married to a nigerian and I have petitioned for his daughters to come live with us in the U.S. Does anyone know if it will be an issue for their grandparents to take them to their interview in Lagos?

Africa: Sub-SaharanEasing the Transition to U.S. Life...
The transition has brought so many mixed emotions for my husband. He left Nigeria to go to school in London, his family was going to follow. The love of his life (at that time) and mother of his children passed away right after leaving Nigeria. That as we all know made things for him very hard. His daughters in Nigeria were now with his parents and it is a very hard to travel back and forth while on the student visa and limited money to travel on as we all know it cost so much to fly back and forth. We met through a mutal friend and started a relationship, I flew back and forth to London while we were waiting on the visa for him to come to the U.S to be completed. Once he arrived here in the U.S. things were hard at first, he could not just start driving becasue he did not have a U.S. license yet. We live in the country so public transportaition means calling a cab or being dropped off somewhere. For me working full time and him setting home all day while I worked and he did not know anyone but my family and one other friend at the time. So the first months were tough. WOW once he was able to drive I had the life he drove me back and forth to work everyday just so he could have the car during the day until we could get another car. As for his traditional food I was willing to learn how to prepare whatever it was he wanted. His sister's helped me through it and now he also enjoys all types of food. We are currently in the process of bringing the girls here to live with us, they go for their interview on September 9th. PRAISE GOD we will finally have all of our family together, all of us together at last..
My girls + his girls=our girls, happiness and family..

Just a note***For those that are already here in the U.S. and are bringing your loved one over it is up to us to make the journey easier and happier.

Africa: Sub-SaharanDNA APPOINTMENT
I AM A U.S. CITIZEN AND MY STEP DAUGHTERS WERE SUPPOSE TO HAVE THEIR DNA SWAB TODAY AT THE U.S.EMBASSY IN NIGERIA, WE HAVE HAD THE APPOINTMENT FOR A MONTH OR MORE. WHEN MY FATHER IN LAW ARRIVED AT THE EMBASSY HE WAS TOLD THAT THE EMBASSY WAS CLOSED FOR A PUBLIC HOLIDAY. WHY WOULD WE NOT HAVE RECEIVED A NOTICE OF A DATE CHANGE OR SOMETHING. MY FATHER IN LAW STATED THE PUBLIC HOLIDAY WAS JUST PUT INTO PLACE IT WAS NOT ALREADY SET PREVIOUSLY. ARE WE GOING TO WAIT FOR A NEW DATE OF IF HE SHOWS UP AT THE EMBASSY ON WEDNESDAY WITH THE GIRLS WILL THEY SEE THE GIRLS THEN AND DO THE DNA SWAB?

Africa: Sub-SaharanProof of relationship
Thanks for the comments. I have done and sent everything that was mentioned, so the only other thing I can think of is to send proof that we have communication on a regular basis with the girls and that my husband and I have our bills, mortgage and etc together.

God Bless

Africa: Sub-SaharanProof of relationship
I NEED SOME HELP UNDERSTANDING WHAT IT IS THE U.S. EMBASSY IS REALLY WANTING FROM ME AS FAR AS PROOF OF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ME AND MY STEP-DAUGHTERS. I AM A U.S. CITIZEN MARRIED TO A NIGERIAN AND WE LIVE IN THE U.S. I AM THE ONE PETITIONING FOR THE GIRLS TO COME AND WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALL OF THE STEPS. MY HUSBAND AND THE GIRLS ALREADY HAD THEIR DNA COMPLETED AND ALL OF THE PAPERWORK THEY REQUESTED HAS BEEN TURNED IN. THE GIRLS LIVE IN NIGERIA WITH THEIR GRANDPARENTS AT THE PRESENT TIME AND ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO THE EMBASSY CALLED MY FATHER IN LAW AND SAID MAKE SURE WHEN YOU COME FOR THE FINAL INTERVIEW YOU BRING PROOF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE GIRLS AND THEIR STEP-MOTHER. WHAT TYPE OF PROOF DO THEY WANT? I HAVE NOT BEEN TO NIGERIA YET TO SEE THEM FACE TO FACE BUT WE TALK EVERY WEEK ON THE PHONE TO EACH OTHER AND MOST IMPORTANT PF ALL MY HUSBAND HAS ALREADY PROVED HE IS THEIR FATHER WITH THE DNA.

GOD BLESS

Stay strong and focused. God will see you through every step even when you think your strength is gone. My husband and I just finished the DNA a couple months ago the girls had their interview today and now they say the medical we completed a couple months back is expired so they need a new one but I see the light at the end and it is the most beautiful light with two lovely little faces calling me mommy.

But when we started the entire process even for my husband we sent in wedding gown receipts, copy of engagement from newspaper. Send more evidence than what they even ask for it cannot hurt. Good Luck and God bless.

Africa: Sub-SaharanDenied !
My husband and I had only been together twice before he went for his interview. He is from Nigeria but was in London when he had to go for his interview. He did tell me that he was sure the way he was able to answer the questions with good eye contact and the way he showed his confidence in the relationship we have was what made everything for us go so smoothly. I am sure if you ask your fiance how he answered his questions you will see that at some point something either happened or a question was asked that he may have not felt 100% with his answer and the person doing the interview could see that. Don't give up, stay strong and pray pray pray.. I promise it works..

Good Luck

Good morning,

Just wanted to say THANKS to all those that replied to my post yesterday. This is a vaulable website and I feel like park of the family already.

(1) How long did many of you know your fiance or fiancee before starting the filing process (K-1)?

(2) My fiancee was arrested a few years ago, but was never charged with anything. Both parties that were involved agreeged to stay away from each other. He was never fingerprinted, but had to appear before a magistrate. He's being advised not to discolse this, but I think he should. An arrest means that you were detained for a certain period of time, even if you were not charged with a crime. (Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I understand it).

(3) He lives in Montego Bay...is it better for him to do his physical in Kingston or in Montego Bay. I have a few friends who had problems with the results getting back from MoBay in time for the interview.

Thanks,

Trelawny

Big up all my MARYLANDERS and those from Washington, D.C. (EAST COAST) filers. kicking.gif

Good Morning Trelawny,
I met my husband online on January 14, 2007....we married in Ochi on 3/17/07 and I began our paperwork at the end of March or 1st part of April......We are going through the IR1-CR1 process which is for a spouse......Not sure what to tell you about the police issue.......My husband still has to get his medical and shots and I believe he is going to go to MoBay.......BTW.....I am in West Virginia......not too far away from you........have a great day!

good morning...got engaged a few months after knowing my fiance and filed for K-1 this month; I know we've not know each other for a long time at all, but we do communicate a lot (my cell) and I've been back to see him in Jamaica since meeting him the first time. We met 9/07, got engaged 11/07 we also have a 13 year age difference...I (female) 37 he 24. Just trying to calm my nerves.

Hey Lawny,

I work here at the airport in Charleston, WV and met a lady here at my counter that is getting married in Jamaica in February. She is in her 40's (41-42) and he is in his mid 20's. I would not worry about it. Love has no boundaries. She is from Tennessee and of course, he is in Jamaica.

Inna mi pants

A Jamaican guy enters a resturant and while sitting at his table he notices a gorgeous woman sitting at another table alone. he calls the waiter over and asks for a bottle of the most expensive champagne to be sent over to her knowing that if she accepts it she will be his.

The waiter gets the bottle and quickly takes it over to the young lady, saying that its from the gentleman. she looks at the champagne and decides to send a note back to the jamaican, the note reads...

"For me to accept this bottle you need to have a mercedes in your garage, a million in the bank and 9 inches in your trousers."

After Reading this note the Jamaican sends back a note of his own, it reads...

"Jus su yuh know...me av a bran new Benz an a bran new Bimma park up inna mi yard, an mi av over 10 million inna de bank but nuhbaddy an mi mean NUHBADDY nah gon mek mi cut 3 inch off a wah mi av inna mi pants...suh yuh can jus sen back di champagne!"

If she buys payless they will need shoes and clothes more often..she has to remember that in JA people have to walk..to get on the bus get stepped on..walk from to bus school in the rain...Yes i agree they can buy on sale or in dept stores ..don't think they have to get cheap stuff just cause they're in JA..that's not fair in my opinion..if she was in their shoes wouldn't she but expensive stuff ?

JA'cans must like Clarks, my hubby suggested getting some for his daughter. They are nice shoes, but there are sturder ones.

Hey Guys good morning to you all. Have not been on-line a lot these past few days. Been working like crazy and trying not to obsess about Mike's RFE. Waiting for the new one to come in the mail from him. I am trying my best to stay away from VJ, because it is like an obsession and I get more and more depressed when I log on and see people getting their interview dates and having their interviews and I am stuck waiting to reply to the RFE.

Mind you, I am very happy and supportive of all who have had progress with their cases, but at the same time I am a little down in the dumps cause I miss Mike so much and I'm not trying to plan a trip to see him. I am trying to conserve my funds because I know that when he comes, it's gonna take a while for him to get used to the place and find a job.

I love you all so much and that you for all the sincere support that all have proveded in one way or the other.

Hopefully good news will come soon!

Bwoy ... Go Get Yuh Moddah

A boy and his father from Jamaica were visting America for the first time.

The first time they went to a mall, they were amazed by almost everything they saw,
but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slideback together again.

The boy asked, "Ah whahdat, daddy?" The father (having never seen an elevator) responded,
"Son, minevah see notting so inna mi life! Mi nuh know what it is!"

While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a fat old lady in a wheelchair
rolled up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled
between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the
small circular numbers above the walls light up sequentially.

They continued to watch until it reached the last number and then the numbers began to light
in the reverse order. Finally the walls opened up again and a gorgeous, voluptuous 19-year-old
woman stepped out. The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, says quietly to his son,

"Bwoy... Go get yuh moddah!"

I live for these morning jokes.....they are so GREAT!......On another note......I am flying out of here tomorrow morning to go and see my baby!......It has been since March and I am so excited.....I will get to stay with him until Monday when I have to fly back home to the real life with the 14yo.......LOL......Catch you all when I get back........

Peace & Love,
Tonya

Good Morning All......

Last week I told you about the STUPID

Sorry but to finish......the STUPID typo I made........I did not wait to get the RFE in the mail.....I generated the bar code and made another checklist sheet for the DS-230.......I sent in copies of all the appropriate documents as well........and sent it off via DHL........

The automated system says this morning that they have received the checklist letter as of 12/3/07......Does anyone know if it will take another 2-4 weeks before they case complete it......or since they have reviewed it once before, could it take less than that?

I am only hoping and praying that we make a January interview date..........

Peace & Love,

Rum Head

A Jamaican is strolling down the street in Kingston and kicks a bottle lying in the street.

Suddenly out of the bottle comes a Genie.

The Jamaican is stunned, and the Genie says,

"Hello master, I will grant you one wish, anything you want."

The Jamaican begins thinking, "Well, I really like drinking rum."

Finally the Jamaican says, "Is rum me like fe drink, make me pee

rum." man!

The Genie grants him his wish.

When the Jamaican gets home he gets a glass out of the cupboard and pees in it. He looks in the glass and it's clear. The ting look like rum. The ting smell like rum. He takes a taste and it is the best rum he has ever tasted.

The Jamaican yells to his wife, "Beverly, Beverly, come quick nah man."

She comes running down the hall and the Jamaican takes another glass out of th e cupboard and pees in it.

Drink up woman, is rum! Beverly is reluctant but goes ahead and takes a sip.

It is the best rum she has ever tasted. The two drink and party all night.

The next night the Jamaican comes home from work and tells his wife to get two glasses out of the cupboard. He proceeds to pee in the two glasses. The result is the same, the rum is excellent, and the couple drinks until sun up.

Friday night comes, and the Jamaican comes home and tells his wife,

"Beverly tek one glass and we will drink rum."

His wife gets the glass from the cupboard and sets it on the table.

The Jamaican begins to pee in the glass. When he done fill it, 'im wife ask, "But Winston, why is one glass tonite?"

Winston raise the glass and say, "Because tonite my love, you drink from de bottle.

Thanks so much Gill..I live for your daily chuckles........ laughing.gif

that stinks. I think we re going to have to deal with that when we leave to. We are starting a taxi the ebginning of this month and we want to continue to run it there too, but am worried about how we will manage it from here.
About how much did you guys make running taxi?

Hey Shrewdie,

Dem can mek a nice pissa change still. Anywhere between $500-1200 JA. per day. What we do is, Ken has him run it for him 5 days and 1 day is deh drivas portion. The guy we have has been absolutely amazing. Very professional and ON POINT wid deh funds! When Ken comes up we will move it to a 4-2 day ratio, because the guy is so good. We don't want to lose him. Plus he will be doing extra errands like bank deposits for us and dropping off piece to Ken's brothers. The only problem is when deh ride break down...but thus far it's been minor.

Bless,
Gill

P.S.- That's great news about the I-130!! good.gif

Hey Gill,
thanks! Two guys we asked told me that we can make about 8,000 JA a day. I thought that might be a killing. These were two guys that dont even know each other..maybe it depends where you live? I am hoping they are right. hmm...
Where do you guys run taxi?

Yes Shrewdie,

You're right...I stink at Math laughing.gif ...around $100 US dollars a day is what I was going for!(which is equivilent to $7000...duh) We run between Mo Bay - Falmouth (trelawny). But it's a hustle cause dem pack up deh people like sardines fi mek dem $$. I don't even use the taxi when I go down. We usually just rent a car...cause my big body likes SPACE!!! jest.gif

Bless,
Gill

Shew!! Good!!! Woo hoo! I am really looking forward to him having that extra income!!
I know, right. When we ever take a taxi we usually charter so we are the only pple they pick up. We know a lot of taxi drivers so I think thats why we do that. but NOW we will have our own car so. yay!
Thanks for the great advice!!

Gill,

You are so funny.........the taxi's are like sardines......lol......I am a thick chick so I like my space also...... laughing.gif

Good Morning All,

I just called the NVC this morning....... crying.gif......I was hoping so bad that hubby would be home with me and 14yo for Christmas........

Christmas is such a hard time of year for me anyway because my 18yo son was tragically killed in an automobile accident in June 2005........From Thanksgiving until after Christmas, it is so hard on me.....

I started getting out my Christmas decorations on Sunday morning before church and got upset and crying......pulled myself together.......went to church and cried some more.......

But everything will be ok.......God does not put more on your shoulders than you can bear........

I was reminded of this story today and since it made me laugh again, I thought I'd share.....

Before I met Andre, I dated this other Andre....who we will call Jacka$$ for fun.....and cause he is one! Well, Jacka$$ calls me one day and tells me he got me the coolest present. He went on and on about how amazing and cool it was for weeks. Now, I dated him about 5 months then and I thought he knew me pretty well. So, I go to visit and he hands me this belt. It's black with this silver lace all over it. Shiny silver lace. The buckle is this gigantic broach looking thing......like Grandma's favorite UGLY broach. It's at least 6 inches or so in diameter. A gigantic ugly silver flower. That......get this...........ARE YOU READY????????? It lights up. I kid you not. There are several buttons to push-----it lights up all white, flashing white, flashing red, blue, and yellow, and pulsating flashes of all 4 colors. It's so freaking ugly. And he's so excited about it. Made me wear it down to the disco. In fact, I think the first time I met Andre, I had this ugly a$$ thing on.

Of course, I have to call everyone and tell them about it when I get home. I rush over to my cousin's to show her how hidious it is. To recreate wearing it to the disco, I turn off her lights and dance around. My other cousin walks in the room and says "you know you have a neon sign pointing to your crouch?" I nearly peed my pants.

I still keep that ugly thing as a reminder of what a real jacka$$ he was and that he never really knew me at all. I also keep hoping the stupid battery will wear out one day!!!!!! Andre cracks up every time he sees it.

I'm not sure I've ever trusted a man to get me a gift after that incident.

Anyone get a more hideous present???????????????

ROTFLMAO
