Canada5 days till interview

Hi,

Everyone well my husbands interview is only 5 days away. And I am getting very nervous now, I am sure we have everything that is required for the interview.

My only worry is that my co-sponsor doesn't have a checking account, We have 3 years of tax returns for her but I worried that Montrel is going to make an issue out of this..Any thoughts on this anyone?

I hope that I am worrying for nothing..

Michelle

Let me rephrase my question here and perhaps I will get a response from someone.....

I had to get a co-sponser in order to meet the income guidelines...My question is hence my co-sponser

does not have a bank account whether checking or savings she does not have one..But she did provide

the last 3 years tax returns..Will this be sufficient for the interview? or would this possibly be reason

enough for my husband to be denied? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated..

Thank you in advance...Also I hope that I didn't post this in the wrong forum..Sorry if I did.

well if you would have married pakistani that interview would seemed like a cake walk.
me and my husband dont have a big age diffrence just a few years. we have been grilled 2 hours.
me in dallas < USICS >. he got grilled in Pakistan. plus!! the embassy showed up at my husbands parents house and interviewed his family extensively on 2 random days. they also went door to do asking the neighbours about us. I still feel embarrassed over our ordeal. we still wait 1 1/2 years later and still no dayum visa. we are still waiting on AP.
OMG do you think they are going to do this to us?????? I wouldn't be surprised..

CanadaTruth behind the interview!!!!!!
Let me first say sorry this is going ot be a long post..Everything went well with my husbands interview Friday till the interview.. when we went into the room I was immeditly told to go out and wait she wanted to interview my husband alone. I was like :help: So about 20 minutes later she paged me to come into the room and then told my husband to leave she grilled me about everything coming and going. How did we meet, where did we meet, why did I choose him, did I meet his mother, what kind of music did he like, what did we have in common, After answering all of this she wants proof  So I give her about 50 pics. movie stubs from the past 2 1/2 years. insurance policies, bank accounts. she then leaves me in the room for about 15 minutes then comes back in and asks what are we going to do when my husband comes to the US I told her I was getting ready to start a business she ask what kind I tell her and she ask why was I going to start it I tell her a woman owned business has alot of benifits to it..She asks how do you know this I tell her I read and research alot on the internet. She then ask did you read and research MARRIAGE FRAUD as well? :o

I was like what are you talking now? She said I don't believe this is a real Marriage. I said what basis do you have for this accusation? She said you are 10 years older the him. I said NO I am not 10 years older then him I am 8 1/2 years older then him  she yelled EXCUSE ME..and you also have been married and divorced before..now I am thinking OK and since whaen is this a crime  She said I know this is a FRAUDULENT MARRIAGE because your husbands culture (Indian) does not allow them to marry older divorced woman.. Again I am thinking two things at this point does she mean if I was younger and divorced or maybe if I was younger and married without divorce then he would be allowed to marry me but I didn't go there. But she is going to let him have his VISA because she doesn't have enough proof of FRAUDULENT but she just knows the MARRIAGE is. She just can't prove it....By this point she is :ranting: She then tells me to bring my husband back in the room..She then tells him what she thinks..My poor hubby doesn't have a clue what she is talking about..So he ask her if you think this then tell me what I can do so you won't think this? I am thinking ok Andy like she is going to tell you :secret: I felt like :bonk: this B*tch..I guess she saw our case file had her own thoughts thinks MARRIAGE FRAUD here I will prove it and get a BIG FAT PROMOTION  Well guess what? Come Monday morning this B*tch is back on her KNEES at work  Her HALLUCINATIONS didn't get her anywhere..

CALLING ALL OLDER DIVORCED LADIES OUT THERE STAY WAY FROM INDIAN MEN IF YOU DONT YOU ARE A FRAUD  Bottom line HUBBY IS COMING HOME

I am not sure what you mean? will he have his passport stamped with the visa on it? cause he will need that to get through.

you can't activate the visa unless you actually have the visa which will be in the passport

I think Michelle wants to know what to tell the border people about her husband's stuff after they get the visa. It seems she's just trying to do some planning for when they cross the border.

Sorry, Michelle... don't know the answer for this.

Hi, Everyone

We haven't recieved my husband's passport back yet but I was wondering If someone could please advise

about what to tell them at the border when crossing to activate the visa..My husband has to finish up his contact job here in Toronto..what can he tell them about his belongings when crossing over the first time?

Do we make a list of the stuff and tell them it is to follow at a later time? Also which crossing is better the Peace Bridge, Kingston Lewiston Bridge, or the Rainbow Bridge? Thank you in advance..

CanadaApple Cider

I'm from BC so don't know if the liquor stores out there are regulated by the provincial government or if they're privatized. (Regulated by the province means that there are "liquor stores" and those are the only place you can buy alcohol...privatized means that it's saleable at grocery stores etc.) If it's regulated you'll be able to find many liquor stores all over the place and chances are most of them will carry the cider.

I found the province's website: http://www.lcbo.com/...rch/index.shtml

That one gives the store locator, so if you know the neighbourhoods you should be able to find one near where you're going.

This gave the results that it is carried by the Liquor Control Board:

http://www.lcbo.com/...sultsController (I don't know if it will return my results...I put in "growers cider" in the product search and it came back with the Granny Smith and its price).

Hope that helps!

Thank you so very much.....Yes it helps alot

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 List Children Question
My husband's 2 yr green card is getting ready to expire so we are in the process of completeing the I-751. The question I am stuck on is Part 5 about listing all of your children. We both have children from other relationships, mine are U.S citizens and his girls have their interview to come to the U.S on September 9th to live with us. We did not file for them to follow, we had to file for them seperate. I read the instructions which states to complete if your children came into the U.S. on the same paperwork as my husband. Well they did not so we are taking it that we do not put any of our childrens information on this I-751.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGeneral FAQ's for Removing Conditions

I need help truly understanding the process for removing conditions on my two step daughters. Everything you read is about removing conditions based off of a marriage. My step daughters came 3 years after my husband came and they are only 9 and 7 years old. Is there detailed informtaion somewhere that talks just about removing the conditions for children that came alone not with a parent?

So my question is can I just file one I-751 form for them together?

What type of evidence do I need to send with this and I am guessing that I still want to file 90 days before the exp date?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance,

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFiling I-751 to Remove Conditional Status on Residency
Hello,

We did DCF almost 2 years ago.
Recently we filed the I-751 to have Conditional Status removed from residency.
So far, we have gotten a notice from USCIS/Homeland Security saying the my husband's green card is extended for 1 year. When I called USCIS (turns out I knew more than the woman on the other end of the phone line :o ) I was told that processing time can take up to that whole year.

My question is this......as I understand it, my husband can apply for Citizenship within the 90 days prior to his being here 3 years. So do we have to wait for this petition to be approved befor applying for citizenship or can we go ahead with it even if we have not heard from the I-751 petition?

Has anyone else had probs waiting on their I-751 ??????

Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRemoval of Conditions
We made our trip to Pittsburgh to the Department of Homeland Security June 13, 2006 following receipt of approval to remove conditions.

Outside of taking a wrong turn in Pittsburgh, everything went very smoothly and very quickly.

Once passing through the security check at the front door, we went upstairs into the immigration area. There were 4 windows where people were working, helping those waiting. Once Rob's name was called, we went to one of the windows and the guy took our appointment letter (you make your appointment on the USCIS website info pass system and make a copy of the receipt for appointment time there); took the new passport size photo's we brought; took Rob's old greencard; and Rob's passport. He then told us to have a seat while he did some paperwork. In just a few moments, he called Rob's name again. This time, he had him put his right index finger print on a card - on both sides and sign on both sides. Then he handed us Rob's passport back and showed us a stamp he had put in there. He explained that this was proof that Rob's new greencard was in process and was to be used as his temporary greencard for permanent residence, travel outside the US and work authorization until his new greencard arrives in the mail.

It was very simple, very painless and took about 15 minutes.

Good luck to those waiting for approval!

We are amazed and excited! :o

My Dutch husband has received his letter saying his removal of conditions has been approved!! YAY! :D

And so tomorrow, we are off to the nearest USCIS office (Pittsburgh, PA) to appear in person with new photos for a new greencard; and to receive a stamp in his passport so that he is allowed to travel until he has the new greencard in his hand.

It took 6 months to receive this approval. Kinda surprised that it wasn't longer actually.

Next step, citizenship!!!!!!! No longer an :alien: lol

As I understand it, we can start the process for citizenship 90 days before he has lived in the US 3 years. Someone please let me know if that's not correct. I'd really appreciate it!!

Good luck to everyone in their journeys through immigration!

There are people that fail the citizenship test. So, I am guessing that the reason they failed is because they got one, or several, of the questions wrong. You would have to apply again.

Wonderful news! Please pass on our congratulations to your wife.

Can you tell me how the interview went? I am up for mine on the 5th June. I am a little nervous about the civics questions and whether it is just a matter of learning the answers to the 100 questions on the USCIS site or whether there is something I have missed.

If it wasn't for them waiting on background checks, was there an option for her to take her Oath that day?

US Citizenship General DiscussionNaturilization Interview Today
Personally, I think the naturalization interview was the easiest part of the entire process. I had been worried about it for a few weeks. Spent my time on the plane to England and back revising the questions for the test - knew them all by heart by the time I got back - to be asked the simplest of them. I was a little disappointed. I wanted to tell her "I do know which were the first 13 colonies, or who wrote the Star Spangled Banner", but she didn't want to know.

One thing I would mention is that they asked for photographs, in a seperate letter, which I was to take with me to the interview. The letter, true to form, gave conflicting size requirements. It stated something like 2.33 x 3.5 (which posed a problem at the photo store) but then it also stated that they had to fit in a box printed at the bottom of the letter, which was 2 x 2. I got both and told her to take her pick! She picked out the ones that were 2 x 2 and said "That's the size we want". I was glad I got them both. The last thing I wanted was a delay because the photo's weren't the right size.

Anyway, I would tell anyone going for their naturalization interview to try not to worry too much, it wasn't an unpleasant experience. Oh, and no need to take your partner - they won't let them in with you anyway. My poor husband came with me for moral support and was simply told to stay seated in the waiting room. I wish I had gone on my own and saved him the 11 hour journey.

Who did the US fight during the Revolutionary War? (She said that one was especially for me!!)

I do not know if they changed it, but the answer on the USCIS web site was wrong, what did you say?

Well, I think the answer was obvious - seeing as she asked the question "especially for me". The answer was .............. the English, and that is the answer I gave.

That's what I thought.

And it's wrong.

Act of Union was in 1707, long before the AWI.

It was the British Army that fought in America. Many of the troops were Germans and Irish.

By the time you add in Scots and Welsh, the English element would have been a minority.

It was also more of a civil war, but I accept that is more contentious.

Well, I guess the perfect time to argue the point would be at your Naturalization Interview!

Thanks guys!

I will just be glad when the day comes that I never have to deal with the USCIS again! My becomming a citizen makes little to no difference to my son's situation. It just shortens the length of time he would have to wait for an immigrant visa - approximately 4 more years, instead of 10. We are still waiting for the AAO to reach their decision on his case and it could be some time.

Still, at least we only have one of us left to get sorted, rather than all three of us.
