I think it is a personal decision. I know our two will be at their dad's naturalization ceremony. It is a HUGE deal for him and he would feel cheated if his USC children were not there. I will bring help, though. My mom lives about 2 hours away and I most definitely will ask for her to come that day to help out with the twins. That way if one or both need to step out, she could assist me with it. If she couldn't come, I would ask my neighbor who is a good friend and knows the babies. I guess having a "Plan B" is probably a good idea.

Btw...how was it like to have your children at the ceremony? Did they cause any problems or were pretty much well behaved throughout...Just curious..

They were relatively good. I brought plenty of snacks to stuff in their mouths, though. ;) Daddy really wanted them there. One of the immigration officers went and got two flags for my twins so they could wave them. They really liked that (it was nice of her, because they didn't do it for the other kids).

My husband's oath ceremony was today. It was a wonderful event. 62 people were sworn in from 25 different nations. They had social security and voter registration there today so he got to take care of all of that at one time. It is nice to see the certificate and know we can say "au revoir" to USCIS!

Am I totally off base here....someone in a different forum is saying that her husband filed the I-751 to get his greencard and that they didn't need to even have an interview.

I thought that when you get here you file the I-485 form and that you indeed need an interview?

I've read the guides over and over and I really think I'm right on this one but she said she just did this with her husband so am I missing something? :unsure:


That is the form for filing for lifting of conditions. This would mean that the person only got a a two year green card and had to file to lift conditions to get a ten year green card. The person would have gotten a two year green card if they received said card before they had been married two years.

I spent about 30 minutes redialing the number from the IRS website before I finally found the area where they could be ordered. I think it was under "Your accounts". It was not the most straightforward process.

It is just ironic, considering it is ME who would like to be shipped there (I grew up in VT about 40 minutes from VSC and most of my family still lives in the area). I refinanced my condo about 3 months after we were married. We found out it was extremely hard to do a mortgage with both our names because of his lack of credit history. It was best to just stick with mine. HOWEVER, it is the law in my state to have your spouse's name on the deed. We did that in the refinance.

I would think your best source of information would be to talk to the taxing entity and work from there.

We mailed my husband's I-751 application on 12/10/07 to TSC. We got the delivery confirmation on the morning of Dec. 14th. Since then...nada...zip...nothing. The check has not been cashed. We have not received an NOA. If you take a look around in this forum, people who submitted the same day or a few days after to TSC got transferred to VSC and received an NOA already.

We are wondering if anyone else is this boat? I am seriously wondering if they lost the application. On the USCIS site it says you can all the misinformation line if you haven't received your NOA in 30 days (we are on day 26 from when they signed). Honestly, I can't imagine this will amount to much if they haven't even cashed the check. What does one do? Make an infopass appointment in a few weeks before his conditional greencard expires?

We chose to skip the affidavits as well. We felt our other evidence was strong enough -- names on deed for condo, joint property tax bills, joint IRS returns, joint car insurance, joint car registration, joint bank accounts, and joint credit accounts (not to mention pictures, etc).

The real question...what the hell do they do at TSC anymore? I hope for all you older TSC'ers who actually got stuck there that you get a quick resolution with this move.

quick question...
My wife got her ap approved and I was wondering about the following:
When she left Romania she left on the k1 visa, she had a "valid" visa, but now the k1 visa expired and we are in the middle of our AOS process. Her AP was approved, and we have received it. We were wondering what's going to happen when she leaves out of Romania---Will she need another visa, though she has the AP?

Hi,
I emailed my company's human resources contact that I needed an employment letter of verification; i provided them with the sample letter that is provided here in visajourney, along with the requirements that they needed to cover like, 'employment status, salary, start date of employment, nature of employment.."
I got an email asking for me to provide the following:

recipients name, company and address (including phone number or email address)

Thus my question is----who would be considered the recipient in this case? Is it my fiance's consulate, is it USCIS?
Or how have others addressed this issue?
