Something else to think about...when adjusting from K-1, you can only file for the EAD when you file for AOS (edited to add...you can file the EAD after filing for AOS, but not before). So...you need to think about the financial aspect of not having your loved one working for a long period of time. Best wishes in your decision! Middle East and North Africa	interview k1 visa	"What the 221G is for adminstrative review right?? Im confused with that one and when they actually deny you. So if you are on adminstrative review they actually stamp that in your passport? Why? whats the point?" In June of last year, Hicham got that stamped in his passport as well as he waited for the namecheck to come back. The stamp says papers received on ________ (the interview date was put there). When others in Morocco know you are going for a visa to the US, they come up with all sorts of stories and lies. Sometimes it is out of jealousy. Middle East and North Africa	my update	Farah, It will get easier. My husband was used to going out for long walks every day. With all the traffic and construction here in West Palm Beach (just 45 minutes north of you) is afraid to do so. It took him a while to adjust. Also, he has had to learn how to take the public bus here -- which is really worthless. Somehow, he has managed to figure the system out and can make it to work on time. People who don't live in Florida do not realize how far spread out things are in South Florida and how little actual public transportation there is. Keep your chin up! We are glad you made it here! Middle East and North Africa	hi all!! and a question.	we are going on tuesday to apply for the SSN. Once we apply, do they give you a reciept with the ss number on it before your card is sent to you in the mail? He needs the SSN as soon as possible and im wondering if they can give you the number before recieving the actual card. how was the applying for SSN experience for you all? we are bring his passport and birth certificate..and the forms from here. hope thats all right. Sarah, The SSN was the easiest thing of all. We just brought his passport, his Moroccan ID, and his birth certificate. They typed everything in the computer and handed us a slip of paper saying it would take a week or two to get it in the mail. You do not get the number before getting the card. Best wishes! Middle East and North Africa	stress for K1 Visa	Sarah, I am sure there are people there telling him he won't get it. My Hicham experienced that. There are so many misconceptions there about it and confusion with the Diversity Visa. I agree having a back up plan will make you both feel better. We had stated if he didn't get the visa, I would move there. So...we knew we would be together, but prayed so much that he would come to the States (because I would miss my family way too much). Middle East and North Africa	Anyone consider moving to Morocco	I would love to live in Morocco one day. But, we both want to have money saved and for Hicham to get a college degree (he only went 2 years in Morocco). We are seriously hoping to save up to buy an apartment as well some day in the near future to have some place to stay and some place for his family to go on vacation to for free. Middle East and North Africa	Nullify the K1 by Getting Married???	I agree with what some of the others have said. I think there is even more scrutiny on the marriage visas and the chances are even higher of them shipping it back. I would wait out the K-1 appeal process and see just exactly their issue was. Even if it never gets "reapproved" or whatever the heck the correct terminology might be, you will be able to know definitely what that consulate is looking for and be able to provide boat loads of documentation for a potential marriage visa. Just my two cents. Twila P.S. I hate the fact the government can piss away our money at a whim. Fight for the K-1! P.P.S. I like the idea of bringing it up to Jamal in an email or chat and having him print it off to bring to the interview with him. Then...if asked why you have not seen him in a while, he can produce it. I really am so sorry that all of you are (justifiably) freaking out right now. Hicham and I were talking about it last night and it obviously isn't a change in policy (as we would be seeing it in other similar consulates). It seems someone in the consulate is on the warpath. Middle East and North Africa	Problem since asking for passport?	I concur with what everyone else has said. Last year, everyone was finding out about their interviews in 2 to 3 weeks of their petition being forwarded. We waited 6 weeks and got our Senator involved. It didn't take more than three days to get a response from my Senator, a response by email from Casa, and for my then fiance to get his packet. I do believe they let things lay around as they are incredibly busy. (I cannot imagine if I did that. I would have parents calling me all the time -- calling my principal too. Middle East and North Africa	Moving to the USA	I would say, overall, Hicham's adjustment has been pretty good. The food issue and finding something he would like to eat was MAJOR at first (all he would eat was pizza and chocolate icecream). Now...we have found some recipes (one of my students gave me this awesome Moroccan cookbook) and his aunt has been giving him tips on how to cook over the phone. The other stumbling block was not working for 3 months between when his "airport" EAD and his permanent EAD came. That depressed him so much. Luckily...I had two weeks off for Hurricane Wilma and was home, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays. So...he wasn't as lonesome as he could have been. One of my co-workers is Muslim and lives near us. So...we have shared some holidays with them and sharing Christmas with my family has really helped some.
