Ryan I want to first say sorry for your loss and thank you for joining us and keeping us updated.

I treasured Dawn and she was such a great help for me as she did the same visa I did. When I needed her she was there. I will be forever greatful.

I am also a former drunk driver, I have been alcohol and drug free for almost 11 years. I am now a drug and alcohol counselor. I am not proud of my past but I have made sure that I am no longer endangering the lives of others or myself. I pray that this man will be charged with the murder that he commited and pay for what he has done. I also pray that he gets the help that he needs while incarcerated so that he will recover from the disease that he has. I hurt a child in a accident that I caused while drunk, I was sentenced to 1 yr county jail time and I have vowed that the only way that I can live with myself is to not drink ever again and do the insane behaviors that I did while intoxicated and to help others with this disease that I had.

I pray that God's will be done and that the punishment will fit the crime.

Thank you for you reconizing that you were a drunk driver and congrats on being sober for over 11 years. You were wise to and smart to learn from your bad experince. You learn and did something about it. maybe you should not be proud of your past but you should be proud that you stay sober and not drink in 11 yrs. I just dont think it is worth what can happen to you if you are cought. too much problems down the road, like not getting a decent job, what ever it may be.

Stay dry and conitnue to help others over come.

I would not recommend the hookah. I did that in Turkey. The tobacco was an apple mix, i think. It tasted very good, but it was difficult talking the next morning.

I will continue to read logs that were made by sister and try to learn more of her interests here (and possibly find ways to continue helping Hatem as I know she would do if she were still here)

Heard today that the "bad man" (as my 5 yr old refers to him) was not able to make bail and is sitting in jail awaiting trial. No news yet on a court date. I will share what I can when I can.

Brother Ryan,

You are my brother on VJ family. I dont post much in MENA but I truly enjoy the women who post here, Very nice and very together and a very good support for each other.

I just want to say I really did not know Dawn, or even spoke to her, but I was really upset and surpised of her traic ending and untimely departare.

My heart aches for your family, Your, Mother, Father, all silblings. Will you please give your mother a hug from this bear biggrin.gif

as for this person that screwed up your family with hitting the booze so early in the morning. I am glad he is still in Jail, and can't make bail. That way he can't destroy other family. Also I hope he will serve prision time for long time.

He screwed up two familys now, his and yours. I dont know his history but maybe he messed up someones elses.

The way Dawn went is not fair.
Please just let us know or keep us posted on his trial.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Peace Brother Ryan

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApproved in Chile! - More questions

My wife just got approved for her CR1 visa, which will be arriving through courier to her apartment within the next 2 weeks! Then she's coming to America. We're pretty clear on everything, but there are 2 things that I was wondering:

Congrats on the visa

It's cheaper to buy a round-trip ticket than a one-way. In fact, it's about $400 cheaper. So, can we buy a round-trip ticket and not use the return, or is that going to cause problems? Of course we'll shell out the additional $ for the one-way if that's the only option, but it would be nice to save some $, especially since she might not be working for a few months.

It is really up to you. You can try to look at the best way and see which way is cheaper. I dont hing by getting a round trip ticket that will be a problem.. it is just giving the airline extra money. My fiance now wife came into the country on a one way tikcet.

We got married in Chile, so once she's here do we have to have another civil ceremony, or is our marriage there valid in the U.S. as well? Any advice appreciated.

Nope you dont have to get married again. the United States Goverment reconize your marriage in Chile.
You wont have to do the AOS. Your wife should get her green card within a couple of month. maybe sooner.

Here is a link to where you can read up on the laws pertaining to a child born to at least one USC parent.

http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/natz/citizen.htm

Also have a look at the the US Embassy website in the country where the child will be born for further information of registering the birth of a baby born to USC parent/s

well that is simple. you get a DNA test. That is 99.999999% correct. It is also a legal document that can be used iin a court of law.

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSad Update

I just want you to know that you are not alone when it comes to being abused by the person that you trust your heart too, you see I too have gone thru some bad changes as a result of trusting the man that I loved and thought he loved me too. Our outcome is similiar, except I had a child and I'm the USC.

I had a baby for my husband and before the child was one month old this man abandoned us, I maxed- out my credit cards getting him the latest medical books, lectures and questions for him to take his step one USMLE test. I went to work pregnant while he stayed at home and studied for his medical test( At his request ) until I started missing too many days and bills were piling up, so I asked him to look for work, which he didn't want to do.

I can go on, but I won't. The long and short of my story is that this man is a doctor in his hometown Nigeria, and he knew that if he could only get to America he could make it on his own, he just needed someone, anyone to help him get by Immigration in his homeland Nigeria ( I also payed for his plane tickett here to the states, as many of us USC do ) and to past his Step 1 for his medical license, and the rest he could get help from Nigerians already here. ( That's what I now think )

Orginally before he came here, he was telling me that he loved me and that we'd work on our problems should any occur and breaking a marriage wasen't in his plans, he told me that in his tribe when men marry they marry for life, however once he got here and we married, things changed and he had a new attitude, he would start arguments and do things to purposely get a negative response from me then he starting moving in and out of the apartment, and eventually left for good, when our son was less then one month old, now during our divorce he's telling the judge lies with nothing to back them up, so now I know this man never wanted me and has nothing to do with his son, but goes to court and say that I won't let him see him.

So you see, I'm also in a messy situation, this man went from a loving caring men to a cut throat type scammer. Fiona, I can identify with your feeling, but now you know that your not alone, and I bet that there are others out there that have been thru this process and landed worse off then the both of us.

I like to think that God put me in this situation because he knows that I can and will handle it well and he will get the glory out of it, no matter what , to God be all the Glory. And to my dear husband, may he gets all that he deserve's, like someone has mentioned, what comes around goes around, so try hard to focus on rebuilding your life and your son, I know it's easier said then done but try, then rejoice in the fact that one day you and your son will remember this experience as a lesson learned.

Karen

SOrry to hear that you had problems..

The nigerian people are very good at scaming people.
I was a friend to a Nigierian person and it was at work he was good person and all, then one day we both involved into a incendent and he stop talking to me all together and he was the person at fault.

HI everyone,

As most of you know Marissa is here now and is my sweet and lovely wife. We went thru Hong Kong consulate. Marissa has a son, I listed him on the K-1 petition. I am having hong kong transfer it to Manila. He is living now with his grandparents in the Philippines.

Does the philippines consulate have a email address so I can pester them like I did to Hong Kong

I would like to have him in the States by june. I want to get him ready for school for next school season.

if they do, are they fairly quick at replying to it? I know with Hong Kong consulate if I put a email in the evening by the end of their busness day they will had a reply to it.

Thanks

Chris

I don't think your step-son will obtain a visa by June. The wait time in Manila is six months for an interview after Manila receives the petition.

I hope not that long. I have only one year to get him here. :( and it is 8 months left.
I think maybe it will be quicker for a k-2 cause they can push it out quicker.
I can hope for quick :) I could of had him go thru Hong Kong but he would have to leave the Philippines then when he has his interview he will had to stay in Hong Kong..extra money.

Hello All!

My fiancée is planning to study after she arrives to states on K1 visa. Of course we will get married first. Will she be able to study here in college / university while on AOS process?

Any help :help: will be appreciated!

Thanks!

Yes she can go to school while waiting for AOS. Just give you a heads up, they may charge you a much higher tution fee since she will be consider a out of country student.

I suggest to wait until she gets her green card, and lived in the state thus you will not have to pay the out of country tution fees

why cant you wife work? You will need to have a EAD to work. Dont risk getting into trouble.

as for the Gas stations people saying you dont have enough experiance and have to work for free is PURE B.S.

That is Highly illegal someone work without pay. SLavery was banned in the 1800's. when you get your Work permit go back again, then see what they say, then if they that you dont have the experiance, but you can work for free, I would turn that station owners over to the Dept. of Labor and file a complaint, I bet they will lose a lot.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 to interview in Hong Kong?

I just got the NOA2  and now I am wondering how long it takes to get this show on the road? I was just looking at the immigration timelines and I see it says the average time for Hong Kong is 300 days after they get the NVC, is this correct? That is almost 1 year! Surly there must be some mistake...

Is this correct?
2 Weeks – Case Forwarded to NVC
1-4 Weeks – Case Forwarded to Hong Kong
1 Week - Embassy gets package and sends letter to Fiancée
1 Week - Checklist and Forms Sent to Fiancée
Varies - Fill out forms, send to embassy, and go to Medical appointment
1 Week - Embassy issues interview date
4+ Weeks wait for interview

About 13 Weeks… unless it is true about the 300 day thing…

HI
does your fiance live in Hong Kong? I think you will wait after you send in Pack 3 about 7 or 8 weeks before you can get a interview. Silly me forgot my fiance now wife went thru Hong Kong. if you go to the consoluate web site and send a email they are really fast at replying. if you send your early evening maybe next day you get reply.

What is the embasy number that I need to call. I really would like to talk with someone.

This letter states it is a copy and they send it to the client or address.. I had it sent to a friends of Marissa that lives in Manila.

I am wondering if my wife will be here. I seriously dought she can get a AP in a week. I dont think it is concerder a emerancy to go to the visa interview of a child.

Nice letter. DHS only recalled K-1 applications so far. DHS memo says that they have not reccalled K3/K-4. I hope, this issue gets resolved very quickly for all K-1 petitioners and beneficiaries.

I figured it didn't hurt to say K-1 and K-3, if they think it affect more people they may act faster :D

I agree. I wish you food luck with the process. I think, this type of letter shoule be sent to the President, Secretary of state too.

I dont think the President will even be able to read and understand it. He has never veto in his 1st term or second term a bill. I dont think he even reads it, Just signs it and gives that Monkey look on his face.

I do have a problem with this law. Why are people on american dating sites required not to abid by this law? why only american men who want a wife from a differnt country? I bet there is a lot of men who are on dating sites seeking american women who will abused them or have criminal records or a pedifiles and hurt childern. why are they not required to submit to criminal background checks. I dont have one but I dont want the GOVERMENT to keep prying into my personal life and my choices. This is just other way for them to spy on the american people.

If you have a membership at Costco, they are $5.99 (cdn) for 2, or alternatively, Wal-Mart is pretty cheap too.

yes I have a membership at costco. I was going to suggest Costco also. So I wil just reenforce it.

I had to get passport photos for my new passport. Kinko's is like $13 or $14 for 2.
I had it done their before and when I went to costco I saw the price after :( so next time I needed passport photos I went to Costco

$10 just seemed like a lot to me. Figured I'd poke around for a better bargain.
And yes, $2 cheaper does make it easier for me $2 is 2 more dollars to put towards my grad school fund.

if passport photos that are $2 cheaper makes it easier for you ... you may want to re-evaluate your financial plan. this should be the simple, no-brainer part of your I-129F application as there are many more costs heading your way.

best of luck!

yes I agree with you.. 2 bucks is 2 bucks. It is still in your walet and not walgreen's

well people are saying the time frames..like 9 mos. that is if they are USC. He can file for you for reletive cr1 but not the K visas..

also if he is just a Permenant Resident, that petition gets lower prioity. which can be a couple years before they get to it. If he then becomes a USC, then that petiton gets Upgraded.

so maybe get married soon and he can file the petition and then after he gets his USC it will be upgraded.

I dont see it worth it to wait cause it can take a year, then you will then have to wait some more time.

it is just getting a jump on your petition :)

umm hmmm That is not True. My wife was a K-1. She is a citizen of the Philippines and she went thru the Hong Kong Consulate for her interview and she received her visa out of Hong Kong.

she does not have to go back to the Philippines for the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGot My Visa!!!!

 WooHoo!!!!!

Had my interview... well it was more like a Q for the Cinema. Got into the office with about 15 other people and had to wait for about 40 mintues. Then i was asked to sign a form and had to wait again. They then called us all one by one, but not into an office, just up to the top of the room, everyone could see and hear us. Went through the forms to make sure everything was okay, mine was thank God (Others weren't and were sent away until they got the paperwork right) Then an American Lady came and asked some questions like "When did you meet" etc. She was happy with my answers so i got the Visa about 30 mintues later. All in all it took about two and a half hours, the experiance itself i found them to be kind of cold and not very friendly but i guess we all have our off days, on other reviews i was told they were really nice so i guess i had one of the off days. But i go my Visa so i'm happy.

Thanks to everyone for their help with mine, i'm really greatful!

congrats :)
