PhilippinesDallas Cowboys - America's Team
QUOTE (NoelandTintin @ Aug 3 2008, 05:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I've never quite understood that label. "America's team". Ive lived in many different cities including Dallas and it seems there's more Packers or Steelers or even Giants fans than Cowboys.

I wonder where the moniker "America's team" came from. I know its not from number of league championships because the niners and packer and giants have more. it certainly did not come because of superbowl wins (niners and steelers have the same). I mean who ever thought the Cowboys were the team favored by a majority of the population. I actually think more Americans dislike the team than like them.

Yes that is very true. I am a Steelers Fan. I been for 38 years. I lived in Dallas, I love to bug the cowboy fans. they always asked who is my favorite team and I told them, any team that Plays the cowboys laughing.gif laughing.gif

Cowboys are a bunch of arrogant and flamboyat show boaters. they choke when they when they need to win.

My finacee and I got into a agruement.

When I told her to lay it all on the table she was honest enough to tell it all but in a bizarre way.

She came up with a list:

1. I turn her off with my looks.
2. She said that I am overweight.
3. She has forced herself to love me the entire time.
4. She really wants to help her family thats why she looked for an American
5. She can no longer take the fact that she was lying to me
6. She said im too fat for her.

So I ended it just a few minutes ago.............................

OUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

I am sorry that this happen to you. She said some very hurtful things about you. I know that would crush me.

I dont think you are overweight at all, you look like you have a strong body with a lot of meat on you. so dont worry what she says..

HI

why don't you just get some dried fish when you get here. They are plently of Asian food stores and Filpino foods.

I dont know where you will be but if you are near on, they import it also and the dried fish is most likely from the Philippines

QUOTE (Michael and Milahjean @ Oct 29 2008, 08:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I will be 53 in two weeks. My asawa is 23. We've just celebrated our 30th month of wedded bliss, and I mean that very sincerely. Our daughter was born this past July 1. I have two children from a previous marriage also - daughter will be 32 in two weeks and son now 26. I have a 3 year old granddaughter and a new grandson on the way, due to arrive next month. My kids also are an absolute joy. They tell me if it wasn't for my encouragement and patience, they'd likely not be as well-adjusted and as confident as they seem to be.

Those are the facts. Many will have opinions regarding my choices in life, but it's my life. I've enjoyed the first half of my life greatly, which has included phases of rock-n-roll musician, vintage Trans Am owner and enthusiast for over 25 years, railroad photographer and magazine writer.

The second half of my life has just begun. I have no idea what to expect at this point. I'm healthy and plan to be around for a good long time. Many have told me and my asawa that I look to be in my late-30s. Strangers and those less acquainted with me are shocked when they learn I have a daughter of 32 years. I just smile.

It's your decision to make, and it's a big decision. Yes, I've thought very hard about the effect on my little girl as she ages, especially into adolesence when kids can be so mean to each other, me being old enough to be her grandpa. I'm thinking it'll be fun for me and for her. I had just as much fun with the parents of my daughter's school friends who were 10 years older than me. Most thought her mother was her babysitter...hehehe.

I'm much more mellow now than I was the first time around. I'm sufficiently matured in my career and my life, and I'm financially comfortable. I've been a motor and air-mover engineer for over 30 years, and I've always enjoyed my work. I'm enjoying every second now, even when it means that I'm awake every night at least once due to the hungry howls from my anak. All parents know the fear that grips you when you DON'T hear your teeny new baby screaming at night. Sounds funny that one can actually sleep better when you do hear noises.

Yes, my kids sometimes thinks I'm nuts. My granddaughter has an aunt who is two years younger than she is. My kids have a little bitty sister. My mom is a grandma again. I'm so sad that my dad isn't here, but he is really. He was taken by cancer in 2003. And I have homework, school plays, softball and soccer games, slumber parties and driving lessons, not to mention another beautiful wedding to look forward to. Most of all I have the pleasure of watching the blending of two cultures before my very eyes. I am the adventurer in my family. My kids have learned from me, both live many states away.

But this is what really tugs at my heartstrings now...when I come home from a long day at the office and I walk through the door, the second I kneel down in front of my daughter swinging in her swing and say hi, when she cracks the biggest smile for me and gets so excited, and I lift her up and hold her clsoe, that's what makes it all worthwhile. I am happy.

Great post, I agree with him.. Nobody can tell when will be our time.. Ask yourself if you are healthy.. I dont see any reason why not to have kids.. Claudeth is still young.. I understand her for wanting to have a children.. It is difficult to grow old alone, having one is the greatest achievement of all.

A mother of 1 and 1 more incoming yes.gif

Look at the picture of my son below.. Whenever I came from work, he is already at the door waiting for me.. When I push the doorbell, I can hear him screaming and say MAMA!!!!.. When he see me, he will kiss me and hug me tight.. And will say a-chu (means i love you) .. He is only 2 years old so he is still struggling with his words.. but it is so cute and wonderful.. All my stress and being tired at work is totally gone and seems recharged when I see him..

Hi everyone! A question came up out of curiosity. If you already have a child or plan on having one, do you plan to raise them speaking English as well as your native dialect whether it be tagalog, cebuano, etc?

Yes of course.. But right now, my son is only 2 years old, we are just speaking one language to him to avoid confusion.. But when he turns 3 and he can talk a lot, we will teach him how to speak tagalog.. Kids can learn the language easily..

He plays with arabic kids, so he might learn and understand arabic someday. He is a very smart and happy kid.

IMHO, I disagree with you. I think if you talk english, tagalog or your dialet since he was a baby, he would not be confussed. He would learn that and understand. It is your choice, but I think he may have a bit harder time learning it.

My step son understands tagalog but does not speak it. he did speak it when he first came to the USA and he has many english friends, so he does not speak it to them.

I wish he would start again to speak tagalog again.

Please don't get your hopes up. He has a huge mess left behind, and no experience leading anything. If he took a job as shift lead at McDonalds, that would be his most notable leadership position.

For a guy older than 40, that is pitiful. I had more leadership experience than that at age 23.

IF you feel you have more leadership experience then Obama, why is he the President elect and you are at your home in Texas?

now i am hanging on here waiting for their answer...

yes

I just experiance the same thing as you did but my wife was the one sending it. almost word for word that what happen. She called them and they told her it is on hold because of the federal reserves approval to process it and it will be done by last friday, and it was not. She talked to the teller in the Philippines and they said the money was there but she needs a referance code to release it. She was so mad at them, my wife does not get mad easy but this time she was very upset. cause she needed to get the money there.

My wife is light brown. She has some soap that is supposed to make you whiter. I do not see the point. she gets upset if she get some tan.

Her son is darker skin. If he went out every day in the sun he will be really dark. So before they went back to the Philippines, she would not let him go swimming. I question her about that defending him, why not come on, that is a crazy reason cause he will be dark. So I bet when he comes back he will be dark so there goes her reason.

I think it is embedded into all Pinay Genes.

We're on Mindanao right now, going back to Manila tomorrow for more SLEC nonsense. The place we're probably going to stay does it's prices in US Dollars. They charge a higher than normal rate to exchange if paying with pesos, results in a price increase of 10% or more. That part feels scam-ish, but the rest of the operation is great, already stayed there this month.

Is there an easy way to withdraw USD from an ATM or something without a big fee or poor rate? Or if I want to exchange my pesos back to dollars where can I go and how is the rate? I did my exchange in the international terminal when I arrived for the expected rate, but I'm not sure about the best way to do this the other way around without being able to enter the international terminal.

Thanks for quick replies!

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Repost: Advice needed

I posted this yesterday, but it got deleted in the second crash. Here we go again:

I'm about to send my DS-230 but I hesitate because I'm not sure what to do. In 1992, I was stupid enough to overstay on a B2-visa. I did have good reasons at the time to do so. I lived with my aunt and her family and I did not work. I overstayed for approximately 5 months at the time and I left voluntarily. I regret having done so, but I was not aware there could be consequences later in my life. It was a stupid teenage thing to do.

Since then, I have visited the US several times, always on a B2. I have also lived in several location and went to school; I have applied for several student visas and never had any problems receiving them. Finally, last year I applied for a J1-waiver and obtained it. I have never overstayed my visa again, and I've been careful to obey SEVIS-regulations. All this leads me to believe that either USCIS and DOS are not aware of my overstay or they don't care, which would surprise me. Also, I was never asked on any forms I filled out to obtain visas etc if I had ever overstayed, so I have not lied about it either.

Now, my question is should I or should I not mention it on DS-230, part 1, where it asks to specify any stays and their lenghts in the US. I'm very torn because I don't like to lie about anything. Given the fact that the overstay was a long time ago and that even under current law (post 1996) it would not necessarily trigger a ban, I'm thinking of mentioning it on the form. However, I cannot afford to spend any more time in Germany than absolutely necessary. I do have professional obligations in the US that I need to attend to asap. I already looked at DS 230, part 2, and if I omit the overstay in part 1, it would not interfere with any info in part 2, where it specifically asked if you ever overstayed in the last 10/3 years. But I hate to be dishonest.

Any constructive advice is welcome. I just don't want to mess this up.

HI

I will advice you as a non lawyer... to list everything.. STRIGHT UP.. Totaly be honest cause if they found out, then you may wind up in a ban. Just be honest and if it comes up later you can at least tell them that you listed it and were fully honest.

Just be honest dont try to pull the wool over the eyes cause it will come back and get you in the behind

BA over United any day. good.gif

I fly United all the time (one of the perils of working on money from the Federal Government is that I have to fly a US carrier on business) and they used to be not bad. The service has basically got worse and worse in the last few years though, to the point where their flight stewards are rude, their seats are cramped, their flights are expensive, and you don't get any free alcohol on their transatlantic flights any more or any free food on their internal flights (I took one last week that took 7 1/2 hours, and no free food - OK 2 was on the runway!).

Last time I flew on BA it was much better. Now when I fly to Europe on business I always pick a code share flight, last time I flew to Italy I managed to get a ticket that said "United" but actually got on a Lufthansa airplane, and it was much better.

Basically United have gone to the dogs. The only reason to like United these days is their Economy Plus seating, which I thankfully now get for free as I managed to get Premier status this years as I already few more than 25,000 miles this year on United. Certainly Economy Plus is worth more than their damn useless upgrade coupons that never work because they aggresively sell all the first class seats that are availbale, meaning the upgrades never work and always expire.

You might tell I'm a little pissed off with United right now.

Still they're better than US Airways at least, which is basically the ghetto United.

yeah I agree with you on USAirways... I just flew them last week for the first time and for the last time. the planes are cramp in side. have a screw up boarding process. jab you with everything.. meals, head sets, snacks.. Maybe I got spoiled by jetblue and soon to try virgin america.

Take care
