well...fingerprinting was a snatch...15 mins for the 2 of us.....vermont was soooo quiet......1 couple came in after us, and i think a toal of 5 others before us. They told me i was not the only 1 with an extension letter missing, most of the kids got thiers, and the mother or father's was missing. They are going to be mailing them out. As for any other question I TRIED to ask...lol.....they knew nothing...........so now, the long wait begins.......good luck to all!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChecking Case Status Online
we`re not anywhere close from lifting conditions, but both my AP and EAD got approved with the exact same message (i could track them the day after i got approved).
I still get the `your case could not be found` for the AOS, for which i received an interview notice today.
all were approved within very normal processing times. just want to say: it doenst mean anything bad.

but i know how you feel, very frustrating...

good luck,
i`m sure you`ll hear something soon

btw, we`re in mass aswell (but our cases are not in vermont so i guess that doesnt really matter)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestions on getting an interview and medical appt - LONDON embassy
Hi all -

My fiance sent all his forms in a week ago to the London embassy. Do they typically mail out some kind of a receipt saying "yes, we got all your paperwork and you're now in the queue"? Also, is he supposed to make an appt for his medical before getting his interview date? I've read that some people make the medical appt and then tell the embassy when it is in hopes of getting an interview date on the same day? He can't really afford to make 2 trips to London, so we'd really like to have both appts the same day if at all possible. I'm just nervous that if he waits to make the appointment for the medical, they'll be all booked for the day he has his interview.

Also, Mark couldn't decide what forms were supposed to be sent in to the embassy, so he sent everything that the letter told him to download and fill in. Is that going to hurt us, or was that the appropriate thing to do?

Any info you could give me would be great.

Thanks!
Shelby

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion on Citizenship of Child
Congratulations!

I briefly looked into this when I decided to move to the US with my husband.

Check out the info here: http://ukinusa.fco.g...h-registration/

You have to register the birth with the UK embassy first and foremost.

The UK embassy has lots of good information on things like this and is worth bookmarking for future reference.

Best of luck!

US Citizenship General DiscussionAbout going to the SSA office -- what do I need to bring?

Hi VJers:
Just ready to go to the social security office to update my status, wonder what do I need to bring? Can anybody help me with this? thanks!!

I took my ss card with maiden name, my passport and my greencard. They only looked at the greencard :)

I have found the SS office to be most unhelpful. My policy with them now is to take everything I have and see what they ask for! :)

US Citizenship General DiscussionCitizenship request denied!!

?You divorced ------ before you naturalized therefore you are not eligible for 319(a).

Yoji

Where do you see that he applied under that section?

The OP stated that in his original post.

Section 319(a) applies to individuals who have been lawful permanent residents for three years as the current spouse of a U.S. citizen, and continue to be married that U.S. citizen spouse.

Section 316(a) applies to spouses who have been lawful permanent residents for five years.

OP: Make an infopass appointment, if the letter you got says it was denied because you are ineligible to apply under 319(a) then there has been a mistake. Hopefully on their part! Best of luck!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWe Procrastinated, and now it's lost

It's so interesting how it's funny when other people squirm and freak out over stuff like this (OMG the mail is late!/obsessive tracking, etc), but then when you're the one in the hot seat - suddenly - not so funny!

I'm laughing at myself now, except when I remember no NOA1....yet....Argh.

I think this feeling would be extra intense with ROC, due to the consequences of late filing!

I am already anxious about it and I have another year before I need to file!! :)

I am glad you found it. At least you have proof that you sent it, in case you needed it. It looks like it'll be fine.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAffidavit from in-laws

I have copies of health insurance cards and bills from appointments with me listed as the patient but my husband as the main account holder. 2 bank accounts and a car loan with both our names, among other things.
I was just thinking that she could sign one stating what I mentioned before.

And the affidavits are not REQUIRED, but I can include them. I just figured, as we don't have a house, this would be an example of us co-habitating and being financially responsible.

You are correct, they are not required. However, I did see a post where someone got an RFE for not including them. I think it depends on the case you can build for yourself.

I will include them, because why not include them, since they are mentioned in the evidence list.

If I were you I'd include them and have your mother in law write one listing the information you mention since it helps fill in the blanks about why you don't have bills/a lease. It seems like that is a place for her to provide the explanation you want them to have.

:)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 in process and cruising??....
"If that's the case and we're traveling with the expired GC and the 1 yr extension NOA leltter and a Mexican passport will we need to get visas to enter any or all of the countries we'll be visiting?"

I may be wrong but I believe the GC, expired or not, doesn't have anything to do with you having to get visas to visit certain countries. Your being a resident of the US doesn't affect what visas you'll need to visit another country as you are still a citizen on Mexico.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEmbassy requesting more pictures after K1 interview
My (now) husband brought about 30 pictures to his interview in PAP. We had them organized by year(we knew each other quite a while before getting engaged and wanted to show an established relationship.) We included pictures of us at different places, pictures of us hugging, our engagement pictures, and pictures of us with some of our friends who were also going through the immigration process. At the interview they looked at the pictures, but did not ask any questions about them. They asked my husband about 10 questions, mostly about how we met, how he knew he loved me, etc. The whole process in Haiti is crazy and I can only imagine that it is worse now after the earthquake. You are almost there...keep looking forward. Keep us posted and good luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion2yr GC + Extension letter Texas DPM
Hi Folks
I just flew down to Dallas Tx. from Vermont to start truck driving school and promptly had to come home again because Texas DMV or (DPS as they call themselves) would not give me a CDL learners permit because I have less than six months left on my two year green card.
the thing is by the time I get home my one year extension letter should be waiting for me. My question is 'will DMV accept the letter
+ existing GC as evidence of current status and give me a License?' Theoretically they should but will they? Does anyone have any experience of using a 2yr GC with the extension letter when dealing with a DMV particularly Texas? Please advise.

And good luck to everyone here!!!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionJust thinking ahead....
I'm planning on becoming a US citizen too but I won't give up my British citizenship... I don't believe in closing off options in life.
The reason for my decision to 'naturlize' is simple... I want to VOTE!!! I'm a very political beast (and a big fan of Mr O.)and my vote is my voice.
cheers
:-)

CanadaPassport Photo's for Electronic Filing
What to do..What to do.. Do I really need to get two new passport photos from my husband just so I can copy then and add them to the PDF file, when I have one left over from the I-130 packet. Can I just copy that one twice? I know I need some for the medical and Interview, which we will get, but with him in Ottawa and me here all he could do is mail them to me or copy them and email them to me. Hence the question, Can I just use the one I have? So Sorry for being long winded and Thank you in advance for your advice.
