PhilippinesBuhay sa Amerika
QUOTE (Completely @ Oct 13 2008, 07:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I found this article in http://www.gmanews.t...-ng-buhay-sa-US , and just want to share this story to everyone.. This is somehow true, there is a lot of people struggling to find a job in the US, especially for ordinary workers. But do not lose hope, be persistent.

YES I AGREE WITH YOU

I asked him if i was just a cover up of his pain from his ex girl he said no, but what i thought now was i am right, his friend told me they had an argument and thats the reason why he cancelled the visa for the girl. but it was very fresh, a month only and he found me.we did not have any visa process, our relationship is over coz he was chatting other girl when he was here.he said he didnt have other girl but im old enough and i can felt instinctly no matter how he tried hiding his actions. actions speaks louder than words and i can now say that we must follow our instinct coz some is right. i even emailed the girl asking if she was the new girlfriend, but they were mad with me. And now, they were over.

My Fiancee's interview is next Tuesday, December 8th. Of course we are very hopeful of being approved, so she wanted me to ask others about their experience of coming to the USA to live. She wants to know what the limit is on the amount of luggage she can carry here, as she is thinking of how many clothes should she bring?

What did some of you do? Is there a weight limit on the luggage she can carry?

Thanks for any ideas, suggestions.

PhilippinesIn the Philippines, are rules considered to be suggestions?
QUOTE (jsnearline @ Dec 3 2009, 02:16 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm having some trouble with my mother-in-law and I'm wondering if it's cultural in nature.

My wife has told my mother-in-law that she will petition her for an immigrant visa. My mother-in-law doesn't want to wait and instead wants to get a tourist visa so she can come to the US and then adjust status over here. I've told her that this is a really bad idea because the law says you can't enter the US on a nonimmigrant visa with the intent to immigrate. For some reason, she's not taking me seriously and keeps pressing my wife to agree to her plan despite the seemingly insignificant fact (to her at least) that what she is proposing would not be legal and could land her in a heap of trouble.

I've gotten the impression from my wife and other Filipinos I know that they have a different perception of rules and laws there than we do here in the US. For Filipinos, rules and laws (at least the ones they disagree with) seem to be more suggestions than requirements. I don't want to over generalize here, but I'm wondering if this is a cultural issue, and if so, how to deal with it effectively so my mother-in-law will get off my wife's back and accept what we're telling her is the right way to get what she wants.

is not a culture she is despirate to come to the usa for her personal intension she dont have any idea how deffecult her
she want to live her illegal you shuold discuss to your wife is not that easy she has responsebility to tell her parent
that is not working and not easy you in truble as usa citezen ignore your mather in law very demanding .

here goes,

My Fiancee fessed up to me on the phone just earlier, she comes from a poor family for Hilongos Leyte, she left and went to Manila to find a job, when I met her she was working at a waterstation. Now here is the kicker, she said its been on her mind for a very long time and wanted to tell me this so she can clear her conscience. During our conversation out of the blue she told me that she needed to tell me something, she said she used to work at a BEER HOUSE and would have sex with men for money, she claims she only went out 3 times till she no longer can take it as she was starting to lose respect for herself. Should I be affected by this ? should I lose sleep over this ? right now I am in a world of confusion and so much thoughts are racing thru my mind.

WHAT DO I DO ?

WHAT would you guys do ?

ADVISE ME PLEASE ?

she is being honest to you and beside that is past at least she has courage to tell you honestly

I didn't sleep a wink as I waited for her to get back from her interview. She was there for 4 hours, they interview was in Russian, her son Denis was not asked any questions, they asked standard questions that have been mentioned here "Where did you meet, when did he see you in person, when is the wedding, what of the engagement, how will you communicate?". No dodgeball questions

Now we wait for the VISA's to arrive. They said a week, but I'm hoping for the 3 days window since she's picking them up in Moscow. I wish I could buy the tickets now, but that's tempting fate and I don't have $1600 to throw around. I'd be more happy if I wasn't so tired.

QUOTE (Quan24 @ Dec 4 2009, 01:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ok I rarely posted anything but I used this website throughout the whole process and it has helped tremendously. We didn't use any lawyers and I just did the whole application myself with the help of this website. THANK YOU VISA JOURNEY!

So here is what happened at the consulate based on what Ny (my fiance) told me. When she was first summoned to submit her paperwork, the lady who processed her documents was a real B. She asked her why we paper clipped documents instead of stapling it. But she has no power in the whole scheme of things so it didn't matter. While she was at the consulate, about 40 people interviewed before her and through the whole group, only about 5 people got pink. That's a damn low percentage! She saw people getting grilled and girls crying after getting their blue slip. Luckily she told me somehow she didn't feel nervous at all.

Once they called her for the interview, she walked up to the window and it was an white male interviewer with a female translator. They were both very pleasant and nice. My fiance heard about how they basically decide whether you pass or not before the actual interview so she was looking at their desk and it's true! The pink slip was already filled out and sitting in plain sight. So after that she was just all smile. The weird thing is that he didn't ask her ANYTHING. The translator ask her 3 questions. What's my name, where do I work, and where do I live. I think those are just being asked for formality sake. Then the interviewer asked her for pictures so Ny gave him 20 photos that includes pictures of us and with her family. He asked if she has more and she pulled out a stack of 500 photos and he smiled and didn't even look at them. He read (without help from translator) the introductory note I wrote to Ny when we first met (I was eating with my family while she ate with her family during last new year and I wrote a note introducing myself). Two workers even came over and looked at it and smiled. Then the translator asked Ny if she is excited that I am coming back to Vietnam soon for the engagement party (actually the wedding party but we figured not to give them any reason for trouble). Then the interviewer said: "You have a pink dress so you get a pink slip" in Vietnamese and that was that!

So I think everything really boils down to the sponsor's financial situation. I met Ny in January of this year and returned to Vietnam in June for over 2 weeks to propose to her. I submitted the paperwork 2 days after returning to the US. My I-129F follows the structure that VisaJourney gives. I included, a half page timeline, only 5 photos, the plane ticket receipts for the June flight (didn't even include the January one), hotel receipts, receipt for engagement ring, history of my phone calls to her, no email, no chat logs. So in retrospect, I could have put more in it. I think what really help me is because I work as an engineer with clearance. It has real implications if I have a fake marriage and the government knows more about me than the average Joe so if they trust me to work for them, they should trust me in this. We have much more evidence in the package Ny took to the consulate but to be honest I don't think they even had the chance to see it. If they trust the sponsor and his financial situation, the relationship is instantly believe to be true and she doesn't get grilled at all.

Oh well I am glad this is all over. While I was waiting for her to finish her interview, I couldn't even breath. I hope everybody that go through this will come out with pink!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOver 8 months of waiting...
QUOTE (cjgator @ Oct 24 2008, 02:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Wow jeca, I looked at your timeline, you even had to wait forever to get your NOA 1's back. Well, I'm rapidly approaching 7 months, so I am not as bad off as some of these poor souls, but it still stinks. Am starting to really regret that me and the mrs. didn't go the K-1 fiancee route. The people I know personally who went that way got through much faster, wickedly faster. I tried to convince my wife of that before we got married, but she had a lot of people around her in her home country giving her really bad advice. She got scared and thought I didn't want to marry her. Now, she's regretting the K-3 route, too.

Good luck to all. Keep the faith, it's about all we've got at this point.

YEAH! I'm so excited... We finally sent off our I-130 packet today! I'm just so excited to finally get the process started. Now the wait begins I know, but as least we're on the clock. Am I correct that I will get the NOA1 in the mail and that will have my hubby's "A#" so that we can track the progress online? kicking.gif

good luck and congrats!!!!
the rest of your journey!!!
