There may still be alot left and some ready to burst because of all the rain I doubt anyone has been out there to get any lately and once that sun hits the fields the strawberries will be nice and juicy!

Tomorrow we can't go, we are going to an air show at a military base. That will take all day, but that is a nice idea to keep in mind for Sunday. Yeah strawberry smoothies and short cake smile.gif

I have one tattoo I got 20 years ago, and yes placement does matter. When I got it well, it was a rose, after having twins, it is now a bouquet! not soooo attractive. Oh well, I am not getting anymore and he has none.

lol huh.gif laughing.gif

I could never endure the pain of nose, lip/tongue, eyebrow, belly button or any other piercings than the ear.

My 12 year asked me about a month ago about a belly button piercing and I said, "I think you know my answer"
She said EVERYONE IN MY CLASS HAS THEM! unsure.gif That just flipped me out. At that age, to do that.
I mean I just want them to remain innocent and unmarked until they are way older to understand the rammifications of what they are doing. What they like when they are young they may regret when older. I told my children I don't regret mine but I can cover them and when spring/summer hits people are surprised. They never knew I had my anklet tatoos.
how can I tell the children no, when I got them myself? Their father has at least 8-10. The whole coversation of being a hyprocrite starts to creep in.
To each their own but I don't want my babies to have them. The chances of them getting one is great in this day and age. I am fond of being covered in tatoos. To each his own, the art of it is amazing and I have known some very talented artist. Now my own mother and step father talk of getting one and they are closing in on 60!

Who's got their nose pierced? I wanted a lilttle crystal stud and my boss said no.

OMG, okay....so again this is something I did at 18 years old. Guess I was just a wild child! I used to wear a tiny diamond stud in my nose for years. I think I was about 23 when I took it out and never put it back in. I thought the hole would close, but it hasn't in almost 10 years.

your new avatar pic is adorable

Hey Lisa,
Thanks so much. I too, really like the pic of you and your boo! Hey maybe I should start a post about that. See if we can get pics over all who want to share. Hmm....something to think about.

Just for shits and giggles.

I have 2.
I got my first one at 21 around my ankle.
The other I got a few years later on the other ankle.
NO REGRETS about it.

I don't mind tatoos. My ex hubby had way too many and big ones.
when I met him he had none, when we split he had like 8 or 10.

Current hubby has none, wants one before going home and I hope he just keeps his skin clean and pure innocent.gif

I hadn't lived with a man in years too.
It is just a bundle of emotions...mostly excited and happy but i felt like I was about to get married when we knew he was coming FOR REAL. Even when we got married I hadn't been that nervous.

What I did to prepare was make a ton of premade dishes that were truly American fare.
So I wouldn't have to cook and he get a real taste of the U.S.
I went to great lengths to compile a list of our traditional receipes so he would have alot to choose from plus I knew how bent he was on the meal actually being cooked. tongue.gif

MrsAmera, I am with you on being tired of having to stay indoors. Everyone around here has never seen so much consistent rain in all their life. Middle East and North AfricaIslamic Marriage contract
At the time of my marriage I was not aware of my rights as a bride or even what the protocol was for marriage contract. His mother (=family) was not a stickler.

Quite frankly when you marry for love you don't think about what is in it for you.
You accept the normal conditions of marriage, love, support and fidelity.
Had I had known, I would have welcomed whatever I may have been entitled to.
I like the idea of having to consider what is presented to you.

My only real request would be to have had a wedding celebration of some sort.
I would never have rejected any gifts of jewelry as deemed necessary by my husband either blush.gif whistling.gif innocent.gif

I know that in our marriage certificate we had to list somethings for dowry, however, I guess I defered them as my husband couldn't actually provide them. It was required that we list "something".

Had I known in Morocco I could request certain conditions I would have.
Not necessarily monetary but somethings I want him to adhere by. The subject of not having additional wives would have been addressed but from what I undestand a man cannot proceed in that direction unless he is able to provide for the one he has and then some. That wouldn't apply to my husband anyway.

OFF TOPIC but I still kick myself in the ####### for letting my ex off the hook having not been required to pay me alimony after the time and children I had given him. In retrospect better the husband be accountable and responsible for something, IMO

I feel funny admitting that my husband, though born and raised Muslim, does not sound like the rest of the practicing Muslims here. He displays alot of the common beliefs and values but does not practice in the regard that he does drink.
So alcohol in food has never been a question.
The only stipulations with him in regards to his beliefs are during mostly during Ramadan and no pork.
He doesn't pray 5x a day or go to a mosque. I would, however difficult it may seem to me to adapt, be very mindful to what he could eat and not eat based on these beliefs. I feel glad that I don't have to worry about the very small ingredients in foods and I do make sure there is never any pork.
Halal....we haven't had much luck with it here. I have to search more but it is more expensive.
I do like the quality of the meat better. We found one restaurant since he has been here that offers all halal and guess what nationality they are? Pakistanis.
He loves it! And I am so glad because I love love love Indian food. So I think he will enjoy that as well, once he tries more of it.
Olivia I can relate to having a responsibility now to cook for my husband.
Before it was all about my children and that didn't seem like a task to me because I knew what they liked and they didn't comment on how it was made or how much time it took to make it. As I have said before my husband doesn't see all foods as a sufficient meal...me I will use anything as a meal. Whatever is available. In the past if I want to cook I cook and I enjoyed doing it now cooking becomes such work and wondering what to make for dinner is such a task. I know he wants me to cook Moroccan dishes and I can and I have BUT I am not a stay at home wife/mother. I work too, on top of everything else, and I just don't have the time to sit around and sift through my cook books just to keep it "interesting in the kitchen"...rather save all that spice and energy for the bedroom. tongue.gif

The only thing you can do is find a subsitute for the alcohol being used in the cooking. They have substitutes for everything anymore, I am sure you could find it.

I know there are foods we grew up with that we love and are sure our SOs will too but don't be surprised if they don't share the same taste. The food here and there is so different if you ask me. I mean if you can find meals that are more like stews, that is what I think people from Morocco are used to. Things they can eat with bread. Not having bread with our meal became a real upset to my husband at first. Now he realizes how bread adds too much extra to the diet that he doesn't need. Plus we have not been able to find any bread that is comparable to what he has at home. Not even fresh baked bread. Same with olives.

I would make things and say "oh I cant wait for hubby to try this or that" I swore he would love it and then to my disappointment he did not. I just keep trying to find more and more ways to keep it fresh and varied in the kitchen but i have to tell you we, as Americans don't typically keep ourselves a slave to the kitchen. Our busy lifestyles dictate what to cook and how much time we have to cook it.
Moroccans, along with many other nationalities and cultures are not used to the processed, frozen, packaged, canned and take out food selections that we have here in the USA, one of the main reasons why our population is getting bigger everyday and eating on the run isn't heard of really. If I don't take the time to sit and actually EAT with my husband, he gets upset. He doesn't like to eat alone.

Skerber....great news!

Livvie I hope you are on your way to recovery girlfriend! What, hubby going to Cairo without you? Aw....I hope you are well for that little excursion. Have you been there before?

Pumpkin, I will have to try that method the next time one of us gets the hiccups. Sounds like it works.

Turia you home yet?

Yeah Jeanne hubby has been living such a sedintary and unhealthy existence. It isn't an easy road either for most to quit bad habits and get into the healthy and fit lifestyle. I mean I am a personal trainer and he always asks me what to do but when I tell him he won't listen. You really have to crack down on alot of things but I think first, GET MOVING.
Burn more than you take in and cut back on those things you know you shouldn't have. Foods high in calories and fat...i.e. all those things we love devil.gif , excessive drinking of soft drinks, coffee (or too much cream/sugar in that), too much red meat and those extra starches like pasta and breads to start.
That alone isn't easy. His downfall is eating way too much and late at night. He comes in from work and is hungry.
Eating and sitting/sleeping is the worst.
Happy he wants to work out. He has gained since he arrived unsure.gif
My fault though because when he whines I feed him and I over induled him with all the American goodies since he got here blush.gif
Ok the vacation is over, time to get going, that with Ramadan coming I HOPE he will make progress.
He thinks that his smoking will be less once he becomes more busy and active. I hope that is true cuz I really worry about his health at this time.. he has quite a few strikes against him in the risk factor department sad.gif

Jeanne I tried to tell my hubby that making changes come a little at a time you can't try to tackle it all at once. We started together at the Y last night. I am proud of him. He has cut down a little on the smokes but I have told him now that he is working out try no more late night eating and cut out the sweet drinks. Talk about sugar. Yeah my husband is one of those sugar addicts too. I never saw a man drink so many fluids in my life. Water, coffee, soda, juice you name it. If he could have a 2 liter of soda everyday he would be happy. So I said, let's start by cutting out the soft drinks and juices. Just water and the occasional coffee. He agreed. He also is gung ho! about the membership so now let's see if he goes as much as he says. I have to admit, we feel better already and it was really nice for us to do something together and encourage one another. biggrin.gif

Middle East and North Africaladies with moroccan fiance' or husband............
I met hubby online in Aug of 2005.
We were not exclusive in the beginning of the online thing.
It wasn't until April 2006 (8 months later) that I decided to persue the relationship further and I went to meet him in Sept. 06.

We share some similiar interests.
We are very different due to the cultural differences and the adjustment has been a little choppy, but getting better.

When we were online, any time throughout the relationship, it was all the time.
For him it was a matter of going to a cafe and having the money to sit there a long time.
I had the computer in my home so whenever he could he was on and we spent all our time online.
For me, after work until the time I went to sleep.

We have always been inseparable.
Even if we spent hours online we would continue on the phone for another hour or 2.

I have to say I am glad those days are gone.
It was very tiring being attached to my computer that way. It was my lifeline and my love.
We even would bicker and fight over petty things or nothing at all.
There were alot of nights I wish he would just understand I worked all day and I just need to lay down, veg out, watch t.v. or just do something I like to do.
It's hard when you are the one who is busy and has a "life", family and obligations to occupy you and the one you love doesn't, they only have you.

I would say definitely Ellis Island, I haven't been there myself other than a ferry boat ride around it in the 8th grade.

We had planned to go there last month and it didn't pan out but I hope we can soon. I don't feel it is a "cheap" day trip.
If I go I want to see all I can.
They have reopened the Statue too since 9/11.

I guess if you have a place to stay that helps and you can accomplish more without spending as much.
Have a great time!!

HLM, I finally found out what day I can start moving....this Saturday. I am so glad too because I didn't want to have to do it next weekend, 4th of July. I had planned a day trip to the shore for us on Fri, July 3rd. So now the move is on schedule and I will be busy busy busy. Not looking forward to it all, even though we have a tiny place (moving to only a slightly bigger, different layout, on the same floor, same complex) it is still a hassle and I haven't done a thing.
Now, I need boxes! Not easy for you dear being pregnant. Take it easy OK.

Tasha....my hubby too. Comes in late from work and then I have to wake up from my sleep and talk and serve him for an extra 2 hours. He is getting better with understanding that the amount of time I need to sleep and the importance of me sleeping uninterruptedly because of work is different than his requirements. He is an insomniac to begin with so he has always stayed up alllllllllll night. There is usually 1 night a month where I see him completely burned out and tired and he will actually go to bed with me.
It is hard because I know he is dying to see me and talk to me all day, me too but during the week I have to keep a regular schedule.

Amanda....I know you are ready to burst! You will have so much to catch up on with him and I imagine you have some introductions to make as well. biggrin.gif

I wish I had a more flexible work schedule so I could make my schedule around my needs. sad.gif
