I have to admit although I love the heat and the sun...I wouldn't want to be in your shoes Annie, or anyone else who is frying right now. It has been absolutely perfect weather here ever since those rains ceased good.gif
Annie I am sure people from the ME want to come here and a get a reprieve from the heat and scorching sun over there. Sadly when they come they realize they have to endure either the same types of condition or worse unsure.gif

Bajih, what I wouldn't do to be camping. We have had such fantastic weather. mid to upper 80 days and cool nights... just... perfect for campin.

Tamara...WOW!! I can't believe it's becoming a reality...good luck.
You are in GA right? It's gonna be HellaHOT in Texas. Are you staying with family there to start?

Yeah, one more day till Friday. Can't wait.

I finally found a mosque for hubby, close to us and easy for him to get to on his own.
He wants to get a Ramadan schedule...is there such a thing?

He says he needs to know when the time prior to Ramadan starts...starts with an Sahba...Sahbam???...it's like 30 days before and supposedly there is no drinking this time to cleanse for it.

So sorry to hear of this.
There is nothing worse than coming this far and having it all fall apart.
You do not deserve the treatment you have gotten and are getting.
I am proud of you for gaining control and taking strides to take care of yourself.

I hope you get the end result we are all seeking, a happily ever after. If for some reason you realize
he is not the one for you, keep your chin up and know you are not the only one whose heart and dreams have been shattered.

Take care dear. rose.gif

I wouldn't do anything to jeapordize the visa and if your parents are maybe you need to be on your own so they don't come between you and your fiance.

I also would not let on in an interview that they don't approve.

QUOTE (MENAFORLIFE @ Jul 7 2009, 06:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Christianity is based on faith, the evidence hope for and not seen. My father is Moroccan and my mother is a White American woman and they have been married 36yrs. I was tought and respect with the highiest regards Christian values but raised Muslim. I don't like how others try to destort the Word of GOD/ALLAH by discrediting or attempting to prove the false hood in one's belief. My mother was heaven sent to my Father and he would be the first one to tell you. I know what it is like to respect all religions and live in harmony because I did it in my own household all of my life with my parent's and their friends. My father would say that my mother have Muslim ways, and my mother would say that my father had some good Christian ways. So what that told me is that GOD/ALLAH is the center of all things and that we all must respect him and worship him first. I just so happen to believe in the role that JESUS plays in one's salvation in Christianity just as I believe that the Prophet Muhammad was a messenger sent by ALLAH. The bottom line is that I respect other peoples beliefs and I know that this world would be a much better place if we all did. May the flood gates of Heaven rain down blessings on those that don't judge or condem others for their beliefs. Ameen.

Middle East and North AfricaWednesday
I have been so lucky to have so much freedom since my ex and I split.
It has been a roller coaster and I still have to deal with so much BS due the children.
It takes its toll and I just want to be fully cut off from him.

I am just glad that all the resentment and upset over him seeing her and her coming around the kids and that real
hardcore worry and bitterness is gone. He has been with the same girl now for oh probably 6 years. He put me through hell and even though I have had my fun and moved on there are still alot of issues surrounding the other woman and even though I know divorcing him was what we needed to do it is still hard for me to see the other 2 children he made with "her". The man really destroyed our family.

QUOTE (MrsAmera @ Jul 17 2009, 10:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We are going on 4 years of marriage. There are success stories (we definetely have our struggles!) but like someone else said, a lot of people who end up being used had warning signs of the relationship and chose to ignore them. Also I think there is something to be said for just a rough adjustment. Some people get here and just REALLY hate it, and/or can't handle the stress of the change of country/spouses expectations/work expectations/family at homes expectations/step children (possibly), etc. They may have thought it would work out but in the end it's not going to. I think that some guys stay in those relationships to at least get the GC out of it. They didn't go into it with those intentions but couldn't handle the stress of the situation.

There definetely are users who go into it with bad intentions but I would like to think that the bulk fall somewhere in between.

Just remember ot keep your head open and use it to think and not your heart - becauce a heart can be decieving, and can hear whatever you want it to hear, but when you really use your head you might get a different conclusion. smile.gif

QUOTE (sara535 @ Jul 17 2009, 10:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I agree with Mrs Amera and Lisa, in the case of foreign marriages its very easy to see it as a scam if the marriage fails, but in actuality there are a lot of stresses in these marriages that can send it down the tubes. Many of us MENA couples have spent very little actual face time together before we are married and just not knowing each other well can be a big issue, when you pile on immigration bureaucracy and frustrations, culture shock, oftentimes some financial stress, and oftentimes stepparenting, its really no surprise there is a fairly high failure rate.

I also would point out that people marry all over the world every day for reasons far beyond love, including personal gain. I am sure there are many American couples in which one or another of them are in it for the money, or the status or security, or whatever but love may be further down the list if at all.

Having said that, I beleive its silly to think the whole' green card' wouldnt or shouldnt cross every one of our mind's during this process. Green card fraud DOES exist, and I've seen personally several cases where prior warning signs were NOT there. I've also seen a few situations where deep in my heart I personally beleived the American spouse was being used and yet years later the couple is still together. But each of us would be fooling ourselves if we didnt at some point try to take an objective look and weigh the possibilities. Its always a risk. Yes, the green card issue is specific to foreign marriages but heartbreak and using and failed relationships happen anytime, anywhere.

My husband had been in the US almost 5 years and we'll have our anniversary in November. It hasnt been easy and downright rocky several times, but we still spend every minute we can together, crack each other up, consider each other our best friends, and have a beautiful daughter together - so you can consider us a success to this point. Marriage is always a work in progress smile.gif

good.gif

I think this was a very thorough summary.
Of course is has crossed my mind. At first, before the journey, you are just in love and that's it but I think it is so important to be aware. It is hard to the know the person you are going to spend your life with when you haven't actually lived together and lived together in the real world here.

I think in these situations marriages end in scams but they also end due to normal maritial issues and incompatiability.
Even if you married an American.
You just don't know.
It's the chance we take.

this week has sucked so bad i'm glad it's almost over though computer problems at home have consumed my morning and are contributing to the suckness of the week. I have x amount of things to get done before my vacation starts and these computers are not helping me. grrrrrr

had jury duty yesterday. twas a rape case and guess what....when it was time for the judge to question me on why i am bias about the case i asked, "must i state it in a microphone in front of the defendent, et. al.???" to which i was told, yes. Actually it wasn't a real rape case but a case against this defendent stating that he should not be able to be in the general public because he was prone to raping women. (kind of a weirdass case if ya ask me but then i don't know all the details since i was finally exempt). So I was made to humiliate myself in front of an accused and convicted rapist along with the lawyers, stenographer, judge and officers and had to state publically that I was raped at age 8 and molested from that point until I was in my teens. #######. I absolutely hate the legal system now.

as i said this week has sucked totally.

oh and note to all, before embarking on a fight with your mena man/woman make sure it's not a language thing 'cause it could totally waste a day or two by filling it with sorrow instead of love.

*sigh*
