Middle East and North Africaat Thulatha - Tuesday
Just your normal Tuesday..past monday and nearing the 1/2 of the week.

I would say that I am probably sleepy (dwarf) I had to get up at "the butt crack of dawn" to pick up hubby from work.
That meant a whopping 1 1/2 hours less sleep this morning blink.gif

Just a few errands to run at lunch and after work then I will be TRYING to get home and do little to nothing biggrin.gif

Enjoy your day!

Next day off Monday, the 7th kicking.gif
Can't wait!

SandrilaFemaleMorocco2009-08-31 15:08:00
Middle East and North AfricaRamadan cooking
It may not be traditional Moroccan fare but this weekend I made something that is a little MiddleEastern and that was chicken with artichoke hearts and black olives, which was really good and easy.
I made homemade sauce and meatballs (which hubby loves)

last week I made
beef cubes with green beans and that was called fusilia or something...I thought it came real nice and hubby liked it.

I think I may make some banana bread, oh and we are making avacado milkshakes tonight

I went to the market and got most of what i needed to make msmen...I am going to take a stab at it.
I want to make rafisa but first I will try the the msmen and see how that turns out.
I am quite excited about it.

Oh yes, back to school weather indeed.
I spent a very hot day in sun at the pool yesterday then it got really cool at night and definitely overnight into this morning got darn right chilly. Now as you know I love the heat but the nice breeze and cooler temps is very nice.

Impending estimate for car issues....pray for me rose.gif

It feels as though I am anticipating going back to school. I got to get into the mindset now. Do I have all the supplies?
Clothes? I need to get to sleep earlier cuz even though I don't see the children off to school every morning, additional traffic is going to force me to leave about 15 mins earlier than normal.

Sandra rose.gif you didn't need this delay sad.gif

Amanda..good luck in your interview dear rose.gif

100%....cheer up, it will blow over everyday is a new day

Hubby has been keeping busy refurbishing old stuff and creating some of his own "stuff"
I give him credit for wanting to keep busy and having ideas.

QUOTE (~Flower~ @ Jul 6 2009, 08:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Looking out the window smelling the salty air wondering if he's on the bus yet and if the coast is clear. Now for some courage to venture out alone knowing he's not in the same city. I know of one beach right now I can go to. Maybe I'll search the virtual beaches first. unsure.gif

Are you sure he doesn't have people around to keep tabs on you?
I remember being in a foreign land for 4 months and not having anyone at all around to take me places and show me what to do. I got so sick of sitting alone not being able to see the place I was in and I finally starting venturing out little by little. First just around the block, then down the street, then 15 mins away to the cafe...finally I started meeting people and planning my own excursions. I am just too outgoing and independent to sit around and do nothing especially when there is too much exploring to do! star_smile.gif

Melynda...have a great time!!! Have a safe journey. Do send us some pix.

HoneyandSweetie..how was the wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!

Annie, so BIL is the first to come. That is exciting, how long is he staying?
I know all about the dreadful closet, I have putting off cleaning out and organizing mine.

Olivia, I guess we would be graced with your presence a little more often these days so you don't get too lonely.

The 3 day weekend was relaxing. Just got some things done around the old and new place.
Officially out of the old apt. Going to miss it sad.gif
We did go to see fireworks on Friday. Just wouldn't be the fourth without them.
The actually 4th was a bummer. I was alone all day and night.
Yesterday I did some killer cookin on the grill. That is one thing I hate about living in an apt complex is no property for nothing. No sitting outside, no garden and no grillin sad.gif

I do feel refreshed though. Got ample sleep, in fact, Friday we never did go on our day trip to the shore, I was a lazy butt and didn't want to get up early enough to beat traffic.

Middle East and North AfricaYou know your husband's Egyptian when...
I know there are Egyptian characteristics and quirks and Moroccans surely have them but I think there some things very relative amongst MENA men in general.

This is the first summer with hubby here and the whole beach and pool thing.
I have always been a respectable/modest dresser, even when I had the figure to flaunt.
I am not Muslim and he doesn't require me to cover, however, he will at times question what I wear and where I am wearing it to. What seems ok to me and here in the States just doesn't always fly with him. If he is with me, fine.
Alone wearing "questionable" attire, nope unsure.gif

Good thing for him, this summer, I am not looking up to par and certainly wouldn't feel comfortable
wearing the swimsuit blush.gif along with the fact that my other summery type clothes just don't fit and I am too self conscious about it. Hubby doesn't mind his wife lookin good he just doesn't want other men checkin her out devil.gif

When you find yourself begging him to put things in the dishwasher instead of wiping them with a cold sponge dipped in soapy water... rinsing it in cold water and putting it back in the cupboard wet....

When he spends more time ironing in a week than you have in a month...

When the countertop and floor around any sink is perpetually wet...

When you realize that you are the only one who ever eats with a fork... and all the spoons are dirty...

When everything that is one day past the "use by date" is thrown out, but the left over meat from a week ago is JUST FINE!!!! Even if it has been left out on the counter for 3 hours...

When he hands you antibiotics after each sneeze...

When he spends 3 hours trimming his beard and moustache but won't floss his teeth...

When he sleeps on TOP of the sheets, not under them...

When he boils a quart of water on the stove for a small cup of tea and won't use the microwave because it's not healthy...

When he has 4 pairs of shoes: 1) Outside the house 2) Inside the house 3) in the bathroom 4) on the balcony..

When it's 120 degrees in the bedroom and he doesn't want the fan on because it will give him a cold...

When you have to boil his cotton underwear... and hang it outside... because dryers ruin the fabric

When he won't give out the house phone number to his friends because the phone number his wife answers is PRIVATE.

When you think it's normal for people to do U-turns in the middle of ANY ROAD, ANY TIME... (OK not in the USA...)

And this is JUST the beginning...

Thank God the one I have highlighted has finally been addressed and remedied. good.gif

Middle East and North AfricaYou know your husband's Egyptian when...
Hey, at least he does that, mine would let it stay on the table and i'm sure eventually it would end up sticking to the table and having to use the jaws for life to remove it...lol

Maureen nothing would ever make it's way to the sink if I didn't move it.
It is like having another child, sorry.

Tasha at first I cooked all the time for hubby because I wanted to exhibit my skills and I knew he is used to home cooking.
Once real life kicked in again and we got busy he has had to adjust to quick, sometimes anything goes type meals or foods you just pick up and reheat or take out....whatever...IT'S A MEAL, right? Not to him.
He absolutely cringes most of the time if I haven't cooked. I love to cook but I need to find the time to do it or prepare enough ahead so we can eat at a decent hour and I can also sit down, for goodness' sake.

I haven't done much cooking lately at all, at least for a month. Partly because he has been so hard on me that I refused to do it but I just dread that age old question anymore.."What's for dinner??? headbonk.gif

Even my youngest daughter said to me the other day.
Mom you don't cook anymore, I love your cooking. innocent.gif

back to an old thread of mine....can't i just eat cereal for dinner if I want? I could eat PB&J everyday and be satisfied.

you sound like a very respectable gentleman.

Welcome to MENA and good luck.

Everyone has their story. It is a very nerve wracking process. Although you are not the first couple to have a quick engagement or marriage some didn't even met in person but online. I think you will be just fine. Just be honest and keep track of all your travels and correspondence. You will find alot of support and resources here.
Make sure you make copies of everything and do everything they ask of you to the letter. good.gif

Aymsaid....I read your post yesterday about your daughter's step brothers...I am thinking that there may be some experimenting amongst siblings that may seem normal (I think) but I can imagine how disturbed you must be. And you know their mother will be on the defense about that.

Kelly..I like the new pictures and I think it is about time for you sweet baby boy to start resembling a rugrat, lol.
Did he try to eat the sand yet?

Jackie howz you?

Tamara...the month of July is very busy for my family too. My mother's birthday and anniversary was yesterday.
I have an aunt and her daughter whose birthdays are this month along with mine and my brother's.

Tash..you didn't get anything?? I am just waiting to see what iniative hubby will take for my birthday this year.
It will actually be the FIRST birthday where he had the resources to do something. I would love nothing more than to have some new jewelry. I mean I am simple girl but some BLING would be real nice!!! biggrin.gif
I think I just want to get my hair done (cut/colored somehow) and a pedicure. Just dying for that.
I could go on, I need so much but this are just long overdue starters whistling.gif

Enjoy your day ladies and Charles.
I am still procrastinating the unpacking part of our move blush.gif

Middle East and North AfricaGIRLS IN MY CIRCLE
My father once told me you are lucky if you can count all your friends on one hand.

now I realize that if I have ONE very true best friend, I am blessed.

They come and they go. Good ones are hard to find. And as you wrote here, friends come in all different ways, from different places, times and experiences in our lives.

I listen to my daughters speak of their friendships the ups and the downs and I try to teach them what it means to be a good friend and that the friends you have now "probably" won't be the same friends you have even a couple years from now.

We do change, we do grow, we evolve..we live and we learn.

I appreciate the care and support I have gotten from my MENA friends here. THANKS luv.gif

Anyway it is freaking HOT....do I am feeling ur pain for all of u over in this region! Lovin being with my honey............do its all good!!!!! Take care I will post pics in the next few days.
