Kenza as I posted I am long overdue to a makeover and wanted to do exactly what you plan to do except daring to go much shorter than that even. Good luck and do let us see how it looks.

Leyla...sorry about your finger. OUCH! Be careful. I would say don't try and do too much with it too soon.
It is always nice to have a day to get other things done.

Hey Jax...you off today or taking some vaca??
I did laundry all day yesterday girl. I haven't been outside yet since I drove to the office at 8 15 this morning...I heard what the temps will be climbing too, in a few minutes I will drive to meet hubby and see just how hot it really is unsure.gif

Turia, good morning...we had a quick threatening storm last evening about 7 pm....some wicked lightening and loud thunder, quick shower and then the sun came out cool.gif

Hey Amal....good luck on your shirt making. I took home ec in H.S. and made a couple things but haven't touched the sewing machine since..I can do basic repairs by hand. YEAH HUBBY COMING HOME SAT!!!!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif

Angel..Sorry to hear that your plans went awry and having difficulties with certain ignorances.

Livvie, I read your post, Caturday...very pensive and I agree, now that I am 37 years old alot changes as you hit that 30 and especially after you have had children and seen some of the world. We have to live our life to the fullest, be happy and thankful for all that GOD has given us and anything too much in excess is not too good. Ah if only we could know then what we know now..right blush.gif
As for the hair, I have been longggggggg overdue for a trimming of my very long hair and months ago professed to cutting if all off and coloring it with a new look. So much for that.

Hello Donna and Nagi biggrin.gif

Kenza....welcome home dear, I feel your pain and hope that the anticipation of hubby's interview and a speedy outcome lessens the time felt in being apart rose.gif

Tonight is one of the few nights that hubby and I have alone and find something fun to do.
Dunno what yet but hope good food is included somewhere on the agenda. I haven't cooked a meal in 2 weeks.

Good Morning.

I would say that yesterday was HOT! The most oppressing humidity yet this summer.
Yesterday was all day laundry day so we got to the pool Saturday and sweat it out Sunday.
Today won't be much better, in fact, with the heat index we will be getting up in the temps near
some of you AZ. 103, they say.

Just another day at the office peeps. Getting ready to pour my cup of coffee.
Olivia hope you feel better.
Amanda, good luck to you and hubby on the jobs good.gif

Enjoy the day as much as you can a Monday blink.gif

Middle East and North AfricaMy MENA Friends..
Janet

My heart goes out to you my dear.

It is long enough to have waited for the relationship to bloom and then sit thru the visa process itself but for him to think he could proceed with those loose ends.....I am not sure he even intended to sever them. I am sure your mind is racing and the fact that he hung up on you during such an important conversation when he should have been standing by you and comforting you as you have done for him all this time is well....ballsy!

8 weeks later and no contact.
OMG my sweetie that is horrendous and I do not know of any true loving caring man who could/would let such time pass and under those circumstances without calling and clearing the air, clearing his name or just out of concern for you and missing you.

I think you know what you need to do.
Be strong and you are right, you don't deserve this treatment or having to wait indefinitely for him to finalize something that was "supposedly" a closed book.

My prayers are with you.

Well my early night of vegetation is OFF, plans changed
I am now meeting my mother and sister for dinner and taking my now DAMAGED phone for my mother to have it looked at. It is in her name and she insured it so better she take it and try to fight with them over it.

Hey Yo!

GG....you all done your ? (internship)? Do you have some time to relax and what are you doing these days besides getting ready for the big trip? How long are you staying over there?

I didn't sleep that much last night either ladies.

Hot as hell last night, all due to the thick humidity.

Just did some runnin around last night with hubby. Had a nice dinner at our fav place and watched a little comedy.
Tonight I look forward to coming home to an EMPTY apartment, relaxin and watching TV or a movie biggrin.gif
I hope I am able to achieve my goal of vegetation.

Jess I only saw briefly your post about losing friends.
If you lost them thru death I am sorry to hear that but I have
also lost alot of friends along the way (good ones, I had been with for years and we raised our kids together and everything) and I just sometimes miss having them and other times I never even think of them because I have gotten so hard about "friends". I have always considered myself to be a good, trust worthy, caring, helpful friend but in the end all I ever got was judged and ditched during a time when I needed these people the most.
I cannot believe nearly 4 years have passed and I haven't even run into any of these women. I wonder if we saw each other on the street how they would be (approach me, smile and say hello or just turn and walk the other way)?
Actually my life is far less complicated. I am learning how to allow my hubby to be my bestest friend of all which for women, I think there is always at least one BFF we have that may even supercede the "Friendship" between husband and wife. The relationships are just completely different and I can't make my husband see the importance of a woman having her lady friend(s).

Middle East and North AfricaMedical Exam - Before or After the interview date
I am surprised you did not receive your interview packet.
It has all the instructions plus a list of doctors for the medical appt.
You should have her follow up and see what you need. I am sure people here can direct you to a link that
states what you will need.
Medical needs to be done BEFORE the interview and make sure you get a copy of the immunization record for you and they should send the documents directly to the consulate for you.

Liv nice to hear about the interview....we have some news to look forward to again in MENA. kicking.gif

Gabby, hello again.

We got overcast and humid here again today. Looks like rain is comin in.

Had a very nice time with my mother and sister last night at dinner.
Another late night going to bed. Dinner and cocktails were oh so nice but I soooooooooo needed to just veg out yesterday. Now the rest of my week is going to be busy and no chance to get home at a reasonable time, sit and do nothing.

I don't have any kids this weekend so I am excited to make my plan.
Friday is me and hubby. Sat/Sun he works all day and night.
Indian Festival going on by the river and I am definitely hitting that for some great food and music.
Other than that, it's all up in air.

I didn't realize a simple article would cause such a stir unsure.gif

i'm just sayin....
SandrilaFemaleMorocco2009-08-14 15:41:00
Middle East and North AfricaDeath for conversion
I can tell you something about not having knowledge and/or giving consent for my child to do something or be with someone and I have tried to take care of it thru the police or reports or what have you.....I feel defeated, like I said the kids have more rights than we do and at about age 14 the police tend to think it is typical rebellion and unless the kids are taken against their will or being hurt THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING!

I can attest to how mad a child would make a parent.
I can attest to wanting to have control over a child who is at an age (like 17) where they begin to make their own choices and I don't like it BUT I am not stupid enough to even use the word dead or kill in my vocabulary when we fuss and fight....next thing you know I will have the cops at my house for a death threat.....after all I have been deemed a bad parent for far far less. Just telling a child "no" is enough to throw them in a tizzy and make them hate you.
Some kids hate their parents so much for discipling them or asserting their authority that the children turn against their parents or even worse, kill them.
SandrilaFemaleMorocco2009-08-13 14:37:00

was it meant to read "if they love GOD more than me" ?
cuz if what GOD says is true than they would have to kill her because she goes against what "their" GOD says.

yeah i guess at first you are so upset by seeing "honor" killing

another take on the girl being so upset could be because she was gone from home all that time and who knows what relationship she has with this Christian couple and if they are influencing her. So going back home could be a little scary unsure.gif

I kind of have this certain attitude lately where parents aren't even entitled to their title as PARENTS...whenever you try to put your foot down, discipline or establish rules you end up having your kids smear your name or try to get you in trouble for what is inherently OUR RIGHT.

I do think that she must have been conversing with this couple before "landing" with them.

I am sure that he reacted just the way you said, who knows in reality what happened, but if you ask me
she seemed pretty darn upset to have to face him.

I don't know how my husband did it for us.
We were not married in 2006 when we travelled to Marrakech but we got a place. A couple of places gave us a hard time b/c I didn't have my passport (dah!).

You definitely need your passport and driver's license and all that

If i can find out the name I will let you know...oh we stayed at a hostel....not bad either
if i think of the name i will let you know and it was during the beginning of Ramadan too.

Don't feel bad Meriem if your son is anything like mine he will complain about pain but continue doing all the normal things he does and not talk about it again. He especially won't initiate wanting to see a doctor. I am notorious for putting things off until I really feel that the kid feels that the pain is that unbearable and something really needs to be done. My kids could be suffering but they don't care as long as they don't have to go to the doctor and the appt would interfere with their social schedule blink.gif .

Maureen casino vs. comedy club.
See I would so do the casino thing but he can't be around drinking right now due to Shaban and impending Ramadan.
Hubby loved the casinos when we went last month, he definitely wants to go back.
The idea of losing money doesn't really appeal to me though, we are saving our quarters for da po' man's gamblin.

Comedy club sounds good too, hubby and I have been really into funny movies or stand up comedy.
Hey based on your post both of us and our hubby's might actually get along well luv.gif

Hey

I am draggin my butt today blink.gif

It got nice and cool last night and today so far is beautiful.

Ladies, you can add Casablanca to the list of cities it is CRAZY to drive in wacko.gif
Good thing I already came from a big city and am a very skilled driver devil.gif Add stick shift to that and it makes
for a seat grabbin ride.
Did any of you get an "international driver's license"? I did not have one but I had a friend tell me to do it when I plan on driving abroad. I just used my state license and passport.

Maureen...what's the plan for the weekend? I am so dang tired, right now, I don't feel like doing anything but veggie out at home. However, our time "alone" is so few and far between that I figure we better get out and do something.
I am thinking about venturing into the city and just walking around with hubby to get more familiar with the sites.
It should be just the right temperature for that.

Tash..have a safe trip. I am sure hubby will be fine. We all know that men just can't do things the way we do whistling.gif
