I don't think my hubby is much of a fan although I haven't offered it to him. I am actually a very good cook of it as well yes.gif
We have tried as many middle eastern places around here as I can remember and find, however, nothing is as good as home.

I wanted to tell you that I am personal trainer and always maintained perfect fit but the last year of our journey took it's toll so much and I stopped everything. Cold Turkey. Just became depressed from it all and I let myself go.
So from the last time I saw him in March 08 until he got here in Nov 08, I had put on weight and not only that, lost my definition and muscle tone. I felt worst and didn't even want my own husband to see me. At that point, 7 months ago, I wasn't even as bad as I am now. My hubby loves a little more to love, believe me, it is hard for me to believe.
Relax about yourself.
I started worrying cuz I told him wait till you get here and in the summer with all the girls and their bikinis and half naked and all. He said it doesn't phase him. I am not sure I believe but in the meantime he is such a doll about making me feel good about myself even though I am at my worst.
Since he got here, I think he gained at least 15 pounds. Now we are FINALLY going to join the gym together.
I can't wait. Gym has always been my second home and now it is time for me to get back on track.
With summer already here, I feel it a little late whistling.gif

I can't believe it is $1800 for a ticket to Jordan!!!!!!!

I saw a few places around my way for Halal
When he came here we went to one because I thought for sure that would be important for him
that first one...he walked in ...he wanted out
he never made it an issue since then about it
however a favorite eatery of mine that makes Indian style food is Halal
I didnt think he would like the flavor of it..well he does and the fact that is Halal makes him happy
I am ready to start seeking out Arabic/Middle Eastern type mini market for essentials and Halal because I know the quality of meat is much better
He is a big meat eater though, lemme tell ya blink.gif

My hubby arrived with CR1 visa
he got his greencard 6 weeks after his arrival and got a job the day after his greencard came
I had an "in" for him at my old job and thank god they honored their word
He has been working like a trooper ever since
I know he isn't making much and isn't happy with his hours or the job but he has to do what he has to do
Tomorrow he is filling out another application and I pray it pans out
It is in the same line of work that he is doing
We agreed to give this job 6months to get his feet wet
Feet wet and soggy with it now he is ready to move on
Gotta always keep looking for something bigger and better

Waleed just accepted the job in Hurghada today and we're going to be by the sea this summer! kicking.gif I am happy to be away from crowded Cairo. He is looking for a place for us that is a one bedroom now with standard amenities. Also the wedding celebration may not happen now. They say the hall in the Mosque is just for signing papers and since we already did that 2.5 years ago we might not have that. We would just go back to our original plan of having a wedding ceremony on 11.11.2011 here in the US. He is going to stop at the Mosque and explain to them himself that since I am not Egyptian we had to sign the papers at the only place where they can make it official in the Ministry of Justice as everyone knows that is the place for foreigners to get married and see if the Mosque accepts this or not. I wanted to say this is a nice place of support for those of you waiting.

I too, have once been in your shoes and want to tell you I KNOW it is not easy.
You have to pray, you have to stay strong. There will come a time when it is your turn and you will

Zarq...I feel you totally and just when I thought we couldn't stand another day, the call came. We had AP for a CR1 visa for 5 1/2 months.

Look how patient you both have been. We'll miss you around here once he comes and the adjustment starts.

I know it is easier said than done, but this will all be a bad dream once your SO arrives.

What you need to know is my husband received his K3 visa on April 10, 2008 (AP 12 days)

We gave up the K3 visa because the same day of visa in hand he got interview for CR1..he stayed for CR1 and now

AP 5 months!!

I can relate to becoming prisoner to the PC but please know you will be in for a little lengthy ride and with that being said, the only thing I look back on from my journey and can advise you to do is keep busy. Go out do things, update your place, organize or weed out what you don't need in preparation for your honey to come.
Don't get too overwhelmed (as hard as it is not to) thinking about how long or if it will happen.
If only someone had told me, don't worry, it will happen, you just have to wait, I would have felt a whole lot better but just waiting indefinitely and being afraid that it won't be approved is very scary. "what if" we don't have a chance to be together is what drags us down.
Make sure all your I's are dotted and T's crossed and you will be ok.
It is like picking a number at a deli counter, only with thousands of others waiting in line with you.
Your number will come and you will be served.

I wish you the best and God give you the strength and patience to endure.

I will agree that this summer really hasn't been too bad, at least here on the North East Side.
We had tremendous humidity which makes me turn the A/C on but all in all I haven't used it much at all and to think that Lexi goes back on the 20th?? OMG blink.gif
Mine go back on Sept 8 and that is not soon enough, however, shopping and forking over the dough for all the back to school stuff sure does put a dent in the ol' wallet.
My youngest already was notified of who her teacher will be. That is always a surprise and anticipation for them. Thank God her and her good friend got the same one this year!

Well heading off for my lunch time walk.
Day #2....as I said my laziness is off da charts.
Our new apt is directly across from the elevator and Sat I decided to take the stairs for the first time in oh say a couple of months...well my quadriceps were in so much pain from just walking floor 1 to floor 3 that I could barely walk down the stairs the next day. You know you get that one sign that puts fire up your rear and says SANDRILA, YOU LAZY BUTT, TIME TO GET UP OFF YOUR REAR AND DO SOMETHING?? Well pain prompted by just walking up the stairs is a sign that MY GOD that is pathetic! Pain from a normal daily activity unsure.gif

We all can understand what it feels like to be separated from our loved ones. Some wait way longer than others.
There is nothing easy about any of this but I assure you just when you feel you are at your last (which my husband and I had felt at one time) GOD COMES THROUGH. True love will endure it.
It is a very trying time and you need to pray. Ask GOD to give you both the strength to make it through this difficult time.
You may feel like you are going to die and your heart is ripped out with loneliness and worry but you will live.
One thing with this visa journey is that nothing is guaranteed...if and until you have that visa in your hand you cannot bet on anything that they say. They don't care about you, you are a number and anything could change or be requested in a blink of an eye.
Everyone gets their call from the Consulate eventually. It will come to fruition.
Be patient and keep strong and realize that you are not the only one, even though you feel that way.

Your husband must be doing well for himself if he is working in Dubai. WOW, did you ever think you could get a chance to visit him there? I am sure it is just as expensive there as it is anywhere.

I know it is hard coming back and yes what a good feeling to just be in your own domain and comfort zone.

YEAH FRIDAY!!! It is a beautiful day. It cooled down tremendously last night and even cold!!! No a/c and covers on.
I managed to find a backpack for my fourth grader and one school skirt. Let the shopping begin.....

Kelz....I forget what it is like to just go out and have a couple drinks and enjoy. I so am in the mood to do that.

We are heading to a free outdoor concert. They have it at a very nice park and have various groups play a variety of music all summer, 4 days a week...this weekend is the last of it sad.gif
Just another reminder that summer is winding down.

I hope to hit the pool this weekend. Not sure about the weather or which day just yet.

My middle child, daughter, will be 13 on Sunday... heart.gif I just can't believe that she will officially be a TEENAGER! blink.gif

Are you settled in to some sort of a routine now? I mean I know it always changes, as far as exact wake times and nap times but I bet he takes a good 2 nappers everyday and goes to bed at a reasonable time, no?

I hope you all enjoy your weekend. I thought it went by in the blink of an eye.
I am going to take in this nice day by walking on my lunch break.
