Middle East and North Africagreen card marriages, ladies beware
From what I have read here today it is nice to see so many posting after a long time hiatus or for the first time

interesting to see when somone touches a nerve

i wish i would have found this site before I got married, it sure is insightful
i hadnt a clue about a MENA man or this VISA journey

also it is reassuring to see that even those who went to school arent guaranteed a big paycheck

i never got to finish college and I feel like I am catching up at 36 years old

as far as the older woman, younger man thang...thank god for me that I looked my best 33 (after the 3 kids) when I met him and was self sufficient. I dont have any hang ups like he is younger than me or looking for someone more good looking than me. Go ahead and find yourself some good lookin, high maintenance, gold digga whose gonna foot everything and anything. I dont need a man but it is really disgraceful that so many women have been taken for the #1 evil in this world MONEY.

I too want to offer prayers during your difficult time.

I cannot attest to what the others' marriages are like but it is true we have all taken a risk.
It is a sin for someone to trust in their spouse to be betrayed and taken as some women have.

The most important thing is realize the relationship for what it is and if it is not healthy
or true you need to move on.

I wish you the best of luck, every relationship needs to go thru it's trials and tribulations
we just hope we see the signs before it is too late. There is no doubt that you would feel
bitter and want to warn others, it is through others' experience those persuing this
journey would really think seriously before entering it. However the old saying, which I do
believe..."love is blind".

GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS

pretty soon, it seems, most of us will all be average money making folks
as the tables turn with the economy those rich frivilous spending people will have to start
spending less, finding deals and finding themselves unable to keep up with their bills

as long as I stay out of the stores
and dont watch TV....I dont have to be reminded that I am not living up to par and missing out on anything

i get excited when I have an extra 40 or so bucks just to go out to dinner or see a movie blush.gif

QUOTE (teenutty @ Feb 2 2009, 11:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Really, I feel better since the weekend...

It was such a bad place anyway...In my 1 1/2 year there, 5 people were fired, 2 left voluntarily. That is in an office size of 8 people. So you know there is something wrong with the place. It is just that I tried so hard to make it work, even though the job was killing me...I see it as God gave me a push to do something I wanted to do, but instead listened to my husband who wanted me to keep working there. My biggest anger is not over losing the job (because in reality they did me a favor), but that for months and months I told my husband I wanted to quit the job, I had a job lined up, and he hindered all my plans to keep me working at my company. It was his lack of empathy that hurt the most.

QUOTE (Rajaa_Reda @ Feb 2 2009, 11:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
yikes i am so sorry for this..... you know i had taken a leave of absence when i was in morocco that was approved when i came back i had no job and was filing papers for my husband when low and behold an even better job surfaced ... i am not going to lie it was scary but don't forget your prayers and God never forgets you.

Yes, it is. After being "promoted" to legal assistant (after they fired the previous one) to the Chapter 7 Paralegal two months ago. A promotion I did not want to begin with. They just hired a JD to work in the Chapter 7 Department (total of 3 people then, me the legal assistant, the Chapter 7 Paralegal and then the JD).

So part of me thinks, "now they got a JD and the Chapter 7 paralegal, they don't want to spend the money on a third staff member for that department. So they are letting the person with the least experience go."

I admit that when I was thrown into that position, with no training, no program/instructions on how to handle the Department alone (the Chapter 7 Paralegal was out for surgery), the Trustee was regularly abusive towards me because I didn't know his working style. But I never worked directly with him prior to this, as I was the front desk administrative assistant.

I can only think that is the basis of the excuse, "the Trustee has a personal problem working with you."

Oh well, it just forces me to move my plans forward sooner.

This place has an extremely high turnover rate for a small office (8 people). 5 people have been fired in a the last year, 3 have left voluntarily.

I am sure it has nothing to do with you.
What you are describing makes no sense at all and certainly isnt professional of them.
How could you have expected to move up in the ranks, a different department even, and not have any training?
If you find that this company and/or Trustee were unethical in any way....reseach your rights but if you are able to swallow it and move on...it sounds like you got your life under control. Change isnt always easy but it does alot of good. I know that when I went to India it changed my life completely. I wish you all the best.

Mornin Peeps

Today is my 2 year wedding anniversary and I am so blessed that we are able to celebrate it together.
It is hard to believe 2 years have passed but I feel like I am newly married. After living apart for so long we are still adjusting and "getting to know each other" since he has come.

Annie, I am surprised that she has the power to shop as much as you say she did. I wish I had the funds to shop like that. I need so much stuff right now. I just tried to use my digital camera and it is totally screwed up! I dont know how it happened but add that to the list of things I will need.
I just pray my income tax return is the same as always...every year that return is my green light to SHOP till I drop!

My weekend was extremely busy. Drama with my 12 year old daugther. It just isnt easy discipling kids these days unsure.gif People are right when they say "the older they get, the bigger the problems"
pray I can keep my sanity wacko.gif

The weather was sooooooooo beautiful on Sunday here, you didnt need gloves or a jacket even.
Spent some fun time with my daughter and walked around downtown Philly.
We went to the airport and got to watch the airplanes fly really low over our car, which was so cool.

It felt great to get some fresh air!!!!!!!!
Today is also a very mild day but I hear nasty weather is coming tonight or tomorrow.

Olivia....i admire you for all the hard work you are doing with your studies....good luck good.gif
Tasha...Malek has gotten so BIG!!!!!!!!!! Love that mohawk!
Ronell....you lucky dog! I am sure you are busy attending to your checklist. I am so excited for you! luv.gif

The game was great last night, did anyone else watch it?? I am not a football fan but I think I am starting to like it.
Before I couldnt even stand it. Definitely one of the best Superbowl games in history.

Good Morning !

Just another day at the office and man am I tired!
I need to have X amount of sleep to feel rejuveniated. I dunno how some people can function on less than 6 hours.
Been there, done that...sometimes 2 hours sometimes no sleep at all. Those days are gone. Unless of course another baby creeps into the picture. I am not ready for that yet. I dont know if I will be. As cute as they are it is alot of work and I have done that 3x already. My youngest is 9. It has been a long time since changing diapers, sleepless nights and packing up everything but the kitchen sink.

Tasha...Kelly....CONGRATULATIONS....dont knock the small amount of pounds, actually that is quite BIG and not easy....I havent done one iota....keep up the good work...YOU CAN DO IT!!! good.gif

I am looking forward to hearing about some new arrivals this year tho....staashi....badr's love, charles and nessa....missing anyone???

anyway we got a tiny snow cover and little spritz of rain...nothing much...just wet and slippery out

last night for our anniversary I gave my husband a little 101 in public transit down to the city for his work and then we went to the auto show.....I hate having to see things I cant have....ah well maybe some day whistling.gif

it is ok to dream yes.gif

hey!

well winter is finally here. I was so happy to go out at like 10 pm and see the snow had laid
and it was so white and pretty. It was the most snow I think we had in 2 years. About 6-7 inches.
And it really didnt feel that cold out.

I had to drive to pick up my hubby at 11 30 and it was the worst driving ever.
Snow doesnt scare me but I had to drive 30 mins away on 2 major roads...95 being one of them
and after 3 hours of snowfall nothing had been plowed. I drove 20 mph the whole way...it took me a little
over an hour to reach him.

So needless to say I am exhausted this morning. I didnt get home till 1am. Usually have my tea but today I'll take the coffee.

Have a good day MENA...I swear Fridays cant come fast enough whistling.gif

In all seriousness, exes and sometimes guy friends get a little nuts or overly protective when they find out US women are with a MENA man. If an ex was involved, maybe hes really the physco and wants to try to butt into things and make it seem as though it may not be. Dont just think about this one sided. You have no idea how exes can really be.
If you were the right kind of husband to your wife, then you would never hurt her in any way. Verbally, physically or emotionally. 2nd you would want to be her protector if she did have a physco ex, dont be the kind of jealous man as in OH MY GOSH they might get back together, but the loving protector as in Im here for my wife no matter how nuts the ex may be. Some exes really do hate to know the US wife is with a MENA man. Thats just how it is. Some exes no matter who the US wife is with will try to make a living hell for the lady. Think about all of that and check your own actions as a husband too.

Middle East and North Africafaithful advice needed
It is hard to remedy a situation when trust is lost.

When you are married it is not right nor easy to just throw in the towel.
People get angry, say things they dont mean, threaten.

Certainly we can understand your anger but we are only hearing one side of the story.

You talk about not being a man if you didnt want to "get revenge on her and that dog"
what kind of Man takes pleasure in disrespecting his wife? Getting revenge can only land YOU in trouble.

Hearing one side of the story doesnt allow us to really know what is going on.
Could be that it is a misunderstanding and it is really she that is being mistreated.

I pray that you both may find peace and happiness. rose.gif
After all isnt that why we get married in the first place?

Middle East and North AfricaStopped cooking for my husband!
you know I knew that things would be different for me marrying my man.
I tried to think that my life would be the same or that we would be equal but we are not.
We fuss and fight about certain issues because now, that we actually live together, we see the exact expectations
and personality of the other under REAL terms.

I dont mind doing wifely "duties" I had to do wifely duties anyway, I have children and I am not a lazy slob.
I enjoy cooking, I want to have a clean house BUT I was thinking there would be some degree of HELP.

I dont think it is a MENA characteristic. Plenty of men around the world are big babies, who could never accomplish what we women do in one day. But I did notice how the men there would literally not do anything in the home.
I mean sit there and WATCH their poor old mothers slaving over everything.

I mean I work too. It is just that us women here can call our own shots. We are used to doing what we want, when we want and total EQUALITY for everything. My husband just feels certain things are my duty. I dont mind catering to my man but if you are a man then certainly you have 2 hands and 2 legs to do anything that I can do, why is that you work more? or you are more tired?? The work and exhaustion are the same only I have to feel that I have to keep going and going and going........and not really feeling that what you do is acknowledged or appreciated.

I guess I would have nothing to say if all my needs were being met and cooperation was apparent without having to say a word. whistling.gif
