I can attest that my husband would eat the scooped out bread and put things inside it but not sandwiches like here.
In fact, he can't eat anything without bread or that isnt bread related...i.e..pizza

i am sure your hubby will be fattened up in no time

I am Raelynn. I wish I could say I had a job, I wish I had a career. I was a stay at home mom for so many years, then I divorced and I have not been able to find work because its been so long since I had employment. My husband now, has been here a year and had a great job in his field (photojournalist)but got laid off in October. We are both full of dreams and hope our future will become brighter. I wish we could have a job posting thread here for those who can help each other out with job ideas and tips, or recommedations.

Raelynn

no worries dear, i too sacrificed and stayed home with the babes and well although it is extremely
comforting to stay home I found myself having to climb back up the career ladder. Career? what career, raising kids
was my life and part time work around the family. And staying at home is no walk in the park whistling.gif

My job doesnt come with a fancy name or a big paycheck but how can one measure the worth of what you provide
when you can stay at home with your youngerns....I certainly have a long way to go to be where i want to be
but for someone who had a hard time I sure achieved alot.

Woah, where's all my peeps at?

Good morning but it feels anything but good.

what I think may be food poisoning. I still feel a little ill today.
Just drinking tea....maybe I shed off 5 pounds from not eating anything.

At least this year I dont have to worry about spending an extra 2 -3 grand vacationing overseas.
Not that I mind to travel and especially go some place it is warm but nice to not have to stress about not having
seen my husband in XX amount of months or nearly a year and getting that ticket.

I couldnt imagine having that expense right now.

I really wonder if men from MENA even know about "counseling"
or if they think it is something rational.

some people, even those americans from way back when have dissed counseling
simply because they dont need someone getting into their heads or telling them
what is wrong with them. "problems?" I dont have any problems
it hurts to hear the truth but seriously we all know the counseling saves lives and marriages
however I dont know how open of a resource that is for MENA
there are even plenty of American men who are too macho to seek counseling

just wondering

Without even reading the rest of the responses I want to offer you some encouragement.
I too have been going thru a difficult adjustment, for different reasons. It is very different living with
someone on vacation in their territory and then living as a married couple over here in the "real" world.

I was elated for him to come but I have to admit it has not been as easy as I thought.
Some will call it culture shock but I think no matter if have an "american" relationship or not, relationships
are WORK. Also our relationships are different in a sense that there are many things that make it more
challenging from the get go....like religion and culture, however no one can ever determine, in any commitment, whether it is going to work out or not. You work hard, pray and hope for the best.

It is a mistake to think you can make your partner change or if things continue on a certain path for too long
that they will change.

Good Luck, I hope you find the strength to get thru your rough patch.
I just want you to know you are not alone rose.gif

true people say things they dont mean or dont really wanna say out of anger BUT
if the SO is continually hurtful with words and threats it is only natural to lash out
and/or respond accordingly.

How does one get their mobile phone stolen?

this is quoted from yesterdays thread coz I figured nobody would see the answer if I posted it there..
I was at work. I always put my phone in my pocket when I go to the bathroom coz it's a fairly active phone and I don't want it going off and annoying anyone. I went back into the pharmacy and about 1 minute later noticed that my phone wasn't in my pocket. I went back to the bathroom and it was nowhere to be found. It's nowhere in the pharmacy either sooooooooo the only conclusion I have is that it fell outta my pocket in the bathroom and someone took it. *snarl*

I pray that today things will start to get better, not only for me, but for all of us in whatever struggles we are dealing with.

a little snow and everyone panics...it's not like we are living way up north or the midwest

what a mess!
the most snow we have had though
now all slushy and icy

it was quite a production cleaning the ol' car off

my poor poor husband
works for security, a very unethical company to say the least
not only does he sit inside a car from mid-7am (sometimes till 8/830 depending on when they "get" to him) BUT
it is a completely remote, isolated and pitch black site. He is not fearful, although if something happened no one would be able to reach him in time or even care to.
ok long story short...he sat in the car (that is SUPPOSED TO BE HEATED!) for 5 hours without heat
I am just beside myself
this company is not doing it's job to ensure that the HEAT is working
all the proper fluids installed, etc...so this is the 3rd time he has sat in the dead of winter in a cold car
even if you were dressed in a thermal snow suit...the cold would get you

I am so upset for this
no money is enough to endure that, he sure isnt get paid nearly enough to support conditions like these
he is such a trooper! I love you baby! Just to help his family....he will do what it takes

I had him call the employer, who happens to be my ex..###### face...#$%&!!! boss
I told him enough is enough
you do have rights
and soon (it is long overdue) this man should be reported to the Better Business Bureau
I have seen how this man operates first hand and for alot of things he is completely unethical

I felt bad because I wanted him to get a little work history
and I knew my ex boss would hire him no questions asked
no hard time, no red tape
I knew hubby would not like it much
but at least it is a job
but for this time of year and the graveyard shift there needs to be a little more respect and sensitivity

well I heard that he is changing his location
I just hope it is better

Good Mornin

I hope I can get some tranquility with my peeps and in the office today.
My morning has been anything but peaceful.
Thursdays are always crazy for me and runnin late, as usual.

Well I have a few issues if you'd all be kind to keep me in your positive thoughts.
The stress is starting to mount.

My car was as clean as a whistle...all the salt and gunk was washed away by the snow and ice we got here yesterday.
However, my car doors, every one of the 4 of them were frozen shut this morning.
Just as I was ready to go run in and get the hot water...my 16 year old son managed to pull his open.

I have tried not to drink coffee lately. Maybe 1x a week. Getting back to drinking tea but today
thank god you ladies remembered the coffee good.gif

Bug - as you know, we are all different. You chose your husband because of his submissive qualities which coincide with your more dominant qualities. And as you've seen, these qualities are not necessarily ethnically specific. Some of us may be opposite. I love my husband for his dominant qualities, because (usually :-P) I have more submissive qualities in a relationship. His ability to take charge of a situation and take care of me. The way he wants to spoil me and treat me as his princess. I love all of these things about my man. (Plus his beautiful dark looks don't hurt either) I think this has more to do with his culture than with religion. He is not religious at all despite being raised Muslim. I am a Christian. Even in the Christian faith, the husband is supposed to be over the wife. The husband is supposed to love the wife as his own body. Etc. However, in the U.S. women don't like to accept that. ;-) Many American Christian women will assert that their relationships are equal and their husbands are not in charge. So, like I said, I think it's more cultural. Even within different Muslim countries, you will find different culture and way of doing things. Some MENA men like the western culture/ways better, just as some American women might respect the MENA ways/culture. So, just as we say not all MENA men are alike, not all American women are alike. Not all of us are staunch feminists who insist that we must dominate over the man instead of vice versa so that we feel empowered.

However, don't get me wrong. I am all for equal rights in the work place as well as in the law. I was in the Navy, where at the time women were still more of a curiosity and not as common as you see now. I'm a tough, independent little cookie. ;-) And if any man were abusive, I don't care what country he was from, he would definitely wish he did not exist by the time I got finished with him.

I will share with all of you that I work for the police department and I can tell you that around 8PM every night, the calls start rolling in about men beating up on their wives. It happens every night, 7 days a week. Think about it. Every day there are American women being abused by their American husbands. EVERY DAY. And I'm sure it is even more than what I see at work, because many women will not call the police. They suffer in silence. It's easy to think from where you sit that this is not going on in the numbers it is actually happening, because you don't see it. If it's not in the newspaper or it doesn't happen to a neighbor or someone you know, you don't know it exists. So I'm telling you, it exists in greater numbers than you may think in AMERICA. I think it's just more politicized in the media when it involves the Middle East, because Americans like to read about the "evil countries" and their "evil ways". :-P I hate the media.

But I LOVE my MENA husband. He's the greatest thing since sliced bread. kicking.gif

From what I have read here today it is nice to see so many posting after a long time hiatus or for the first time

interesting to see when somone touches a nerve

i wish i would have found this site before I got married, it sure is insightful
i hadnt a clue about a MENA man or this VISA journey

also it is reassuring to see that even those who went to school arent guaranteed a big paycheck

i never got to finish college and I feel like I am catching up at 36 years old

as far as the older woman, younger man thang...thank god for me that I looked my best 33 (after the 3 kids) when I met him and was self sufficient. I dont have any hang ups like he is younger than me or looking for someone more good looking than me. Go ahead and find yourself some good lookin, high maintenance, gold digga whose gonna foot everything and anything. I dont need a man but it is really disgraceful that so many women have been taken for the #1 evil in this world MONEY.
