We have a kite too and hubby had never flown one in his life.
We sought out and found some cheapy one Morocco, well hubby loved it, I couldnt get him to stop flying it and whereas I couldnt get mine off the ground his was soaring.

I cant wait till the winds of March begin and we can go fly our kite too smile.gif

Have a safe journey Jess...that is exciting. All the talk of everyones' travels makes me want to travel crying.gif
That wont happen till next May for us though.
Jess, when are you coming back? I am not sure but you live over there, just visiting here, right?

Tina, if that all it takes for to lose 10lbs in that short span of time in AZ, I will be booking my flight tongue.gif

BRING ON DA HEAT! good.gif

DA HOTTER DA BETTER BABY! devil.gif

ALLOUSA.... rose.gif it all seems overwhelming doesnt it? Like everyone scrambling just for the few jobs that are still left out there. It is scary and you know what?? I heard of the same kind of enormous lines and crowds at job fairs in Philadelphia too. Good Luck Hicham.

I also know what it means to store things in the trunk or family members' homes just to get some of the junk out to make space and keep tidy.
My place is just too small...We are bursting at the seams....there is no way a new baby can fit into the equation unsure.gif

YEAH FRIDAY!!!

Amal you mean your husband is disgruntled with the cleaning service too? wink.gif

I know my place needs some tidying and reorganizing but with the temps going up into the upper 50s /60s this weekend and possibly 70 on Sunday,
I am not going to be in the home, let alone cleaning it.

MENA MEET UPS....have fun for us.

I am going to get some coffee blink.gif

Middle East and North AfricaMENA FASHION!
shalwar kameez

When I was India I had a few of these made special just for me, and had even wore saris too.
I just loved it! However at that time I had very small upper torso for it.

I feel that those little belly tops are very hard to fit into unless they are specially made. I believe the scarf that goes with it is called a Dupitta....my spelling maybe wrong blush.gif

I wouldnt really feel comfortable wearing a sari now if I had to let my jelly roll hang out. tongue.gif

I did have some really nice events I went to where I wore those darling clothes and I felt so pretty wearing them.

S and S
didnt he have to get the learner's permit first? that usually is for 6 months prior to the actual license.

My husband has to get the permit first, after passing the written exam. 6 months driving practice with me tongue.gif then he has to have the
driver's test.

Well, I can relate about not having hubby relying so much for transportation. Although I cant be without my car at all. Hubby doesnt know his way around anyway. I have to pick him up after every night that he works and it is late like MIDNIGHT.

Even if he could drive, during the week he leaves before I get home from work. The weekends, I am not leaving my car when I have to get too much done and have fun.

He does take public transit when he can but I guess I am still making things easy by picking up in the night and driving him there on Sat/Suns.
It takes me 30 mins there and back. The public transportation becomes less available after MID that is why I worry about how he can get home but it is taking it's toll on the wallet and my sleep huh.gif

Middle East and North AfricaJust another MENA Monday (03-09)
Morning

I am exhausted too, not getting what I call "sufficient sleep" these days.
My husband has real insomnia, I dont know how he tolerates it.

The weather was divine. I hate the cold! I am so ready for Spring! Spring Fever all around these parts now
and we had an "Erin Express" in my town and in the city so all the bars were pouring out into the streets the young and very drunk.

Jeanne, how come you and Annie dont put the clocks ahead?

Definitely a non eventful weekend but this weekend I dont have any kids and my husband is taking off 2 days so we will have
some fun on Friday and Saturday. I am really looking forward to it. Hubby has finally has a taste of the real world and knows
what is like to just work and not have any fun or time to himself. Not fun but it is a part of life.

Have a good day ladies and gents. My boss is in Hawaii this week so I am left to man the office and finally
I can just goof off and relax a little. kicking.gif

Middle East and North AfricaTuesday!
Top of the mornin to ya!

charles....would like Girls Next Door and Milk please.
Not much longer now you will be meeting your son. How's that for excitement!

Well I am at work, bored as can be.
Absolutely nothing to do without my boss here.

I have a banquet to go to for work April 1st so I started the very lengthy and frustrating process of looking for a dress.
HA! You know how much fun that is when you havent shopped for yourself in over a year and you gained alot of weight whistling.gif
Well tried on 8 dresses, all so cute but not one fit me right unsure.gif
You know places like Marshall's, Ross and TJ Max where you have to scour thousands of clothes to find a few you like.
Well, no progress last night and I spent 2 hours there.

I am excited because my favorite DANCIN WITH THE STARS is back on!
How how I wish I could I have that chance. I should have been a dancer tongue.gif
I dont really like the line up this season though.

You guys have a good day. We still have our mild weather here. I wouldnt say it is warm like the weekend but a whole lot better!

Ever since I told you about my cooking issue, I have been cooking up a storm, now when I get home from work
I dont even sit down. Just cooking. I am exhausted. Last night was the first night in a longgggg time I went to sleep
and slept like a rock. I wasnt woken up by hubby. Either he was really quiet or I was just in a coma tongue.gif

I would agree with the one of you who said hubby gets up to smoke....BRIDGET WAS THAT YOU??

I would like to take a poll
about smoking and MENA men...

OK SO YES! My husband smokes FIRST before anything...got accustomed to coffee or his mother's MILK with the taste of some coffee in it

TONS OF SUGAR!

But loves yogurt....

cigarette.....coffee....yogurt...(or something sweet) BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS good.gif

Middle East and North AfricaDINNER IN MENA LAND
I have made pancakes thinking that he would like this because it reminds us of something we used to eat in Moroco that is like Rife....but it is more spongy with lil holes in it and it is totally like a pancake.

anyway the pancake thing and french toast seem to be rejected also, I swear I am good cook I swear
but to each his own I guess...breakfast happens to be my favorite meal and the most important!
There are so many choices.

As far as Indian, I would cook that and eat it every night!
LOVEEEEEEEEE IT!
Hubby, I dont know, I think he would like it but dont know if he would appreciate me making it since he is MOROCCAN.
SandrilaFemaleMorocco2009-03-11 10:37:00
Middle East and North AfricaDINNER IN MENA LAND
Well we did have Chinese a couple of times cuz me and the kids just love it!
He liked it. There isnt much that he absolutely loves except...brocolli, of all things.

Hey! We have a CHURCH'S and I can see if from my window at work...never been there.
Anything good?

Hubby is not big on breakfast, which I noticed both in Morocco and in India. It just doesnt exist.
He does however love sweets. I mean I have been so concerned with him trying everything and anything
that he has put on alot of weight being here!
He told me yesterday...DUNKIN DONUTS unsure.gif is dangerous..dont give me anymore! lol
So breakfast would consitute something sweet..loves yogurt....probably reminds him of Raib (spelling?)
or maybe my banana bread, or tasty cake or anything sweet....
i tried bagels with him...he wont make it
I tried cereal...just doesnt want it, or oatmeal and most times, not even eggs
i guess eggs is just too easy and something he could easily have back home.

So guys I am really trying to step it up in the kitchen and have more full meals for my hubby.
I guess as the old saying goes....the way to a man's heart is through his stomach luv.gif

Middle East and North AfricaHe's hurting and now he hurt me.
QUOTE (MsMariah @ Jan 14 2009, 12:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just thinking about it makes me cry. Instead of being happy for this approval, he's so morose. I know he's upset about Gaza and so am I. He marginalized my feelings because it's his 'mother' land and they're his relatives. "Now they're my relatives too." I said.
He dismissed me by saying I don't know anything, but I am so aware.
He didn't even print out his DS 3032 that I emailed him late last night so we could be prepared to go through NVC. He left his work early, fought with his brother, and just zoned out. He said nothing matters. I heard "you don't matter". I'm so sad, and I've tried so hard to not expect anything from him, it's hard though when even after giving love the best you know how you are always left feeling crappy.
He left me, crying, to lay down and go to sleep. I just don't think I'm strong enough to deal with someone who is always more depressed than me......ya raab. help...

We may not have identical situations but I would like you to know sometimes no matter what you do you cannot make another person happy nor change them. I hope that God will give you the strength you need. This journey is not easy neither is bridging the differences in our cultures and religions. rose.gif

Middle East and North AfricaOn the flip side
those statements about being bound and gagged.....lol..funny
but on a more serious note...what I heard someone say about the women in Egypt..it is scary
but I want to add it is not only there...many places...even men you would never suspect may do that to their women

now here in the US...we women..we have a voice...but there is definitely some fear those men have instilled in those women to make them obey such extreme demands and keep quiet about it.

no one should have to live like that!!!

respecting your SO is one thing
being honest about what you are doing and who you are dealing with..ok...understandable
but having to live under a microscope and have no rights...WRONG
no one living under those kind of restrictions is going to last long
even people with sweet hearts and soft voices will eventually lose their minds
and demand respect and make themself heard NO MATTER WHAT THE COST

It is a shame for any person to be treated so.

I wanted to add as far as being territorial....i am more than giving but i do need a little space and respect for "my" things. As awful as that sounds. It has been an adjustment.

Middle East and North AfricaThe best and worst day ever was today
Aw Amal, my heart goes out to you and your husband and son.

Kids can be so cruel from this age on out and I know how your heart bleeds for your child in everyway.
You are a good mom.
It seems so unfair at times what God gives us to deal with but it is HE who will give you what you need
to endure. I pray #1 that you may find the resources to take care of your son's needs financially
and #2 have the strength to tackle this challenge with dignity.

Thanks for sharing your story with us.
As I have found this is a tremendous group of women who I feel proud to call friends.

I will pray for you and your son.
I hope in time he will adjust. Kids are way more resilient than we are.

God Bless
