Juliette, are you going to do the publication des bans? I want to do it but it'll hold up my wedding day plans by a month sad.gif

In France ? No, I didn't even think about it. I thought that la publication des bans was when you get married in France, your names and blablabla are on the wall at the "mairie". Do we have to do that if we get married in the US ?

Apparently you do -- well you can kinda skip it and do the transcription something something but I guess you're supposed to which is the reason why I'm getting married a month after Jeremy gets here and not right away. tongue.gif They talked about it last summer on the France/America thread. Here is a link to the French Consulate in San Francisco where they talk about it. Jeremy says that we have to do it to have our marriage recognized in France. Maybe you can read it and give me a second opinion smile.gif http://www.consulfra...e-de-mariage-et

Noi is here -- safe and happy. We spent a couple of days in NYC before arriving back in Maryland. However, she had a horrible experience in immigration with rude staff at JFK. Absolutely refused to issue a temporary EAD (woman said she was too busy. Noi said she spent two hours eating and joking with a fellow immigration official). Also, I believe there was a document (?) that Noi should have been issued and wasn't.

As a USC, is there a USCIS number I can call to complain?

Congrats on having your fiancee here. Sorry about the harassment and rudeness of the JFK immigration people. I'm too busy to give you work authorization. That is BS.

Just wondering.

Probably about the same, around 18-20.

before my interview yesterday. They handed me back the photos and some other evidence that we had sent in our originial 1-129f package. They said it wasn't needed anymore.

When i was called for my interview an hour later. The lady asked to see new photos of us. I gave her 12 and she was satisfied with them. She also asked to see older evidence of our relationship (we have known each other 10 years), so i gave them the evidence that they had just returned to me , hotel receipts, phone bills etc aswell as other evidence that i had on me smile.gif

So happy!!! Interview date is scheduled for 1/29!!! So so freaking excited.

Jeremy and I are planning to go to Hawaii in September for a honeymoon, thank you for moving to the US, sorry you don't have a job/EAD, sorry your savings are dwindling, i love you, drink this mai tai, happy birthday trip! We're looking at a 7 day cruise.

Napa Valley is in my neck of the woods. I'm considering a wedding there in 2010. Napa is gorgeous and Jeremy and I love our wine smile.gif If you do decide to come out here, let me know if you need some advice on places to go or things to do in the Bay Area.

As for a non-legal wedding ceremony, I'm scared to do anything that'd piss off immigration or make them look at me with increased scruntiny. I guess the USEM in the UK isn't all that strict so maybe you should go for it. As long as it not legal I guess its ok.

im sorry im sorry but i want to be honest. im jealous of people that are getting NOA2. i almost lost my baby today. we are soooo tired of waiting and waiting. Peopl ask me everyday when she is coming and i have to say the same thing im waitng on immigration and it hurts. my fiance does not go outside because it is taking so long. when she does need to go people say to her....wow you are still here. that angers me soooooo much. it hurts to my bone. i dont know how much more time i can take. i HATE immigration i swear i wish i could just...............
i can sleep, i cant focus at work, i cant eat. im loosing it. i try to be stong when i talk with her on IM but today i broke down and cried. i tried to stop but the tears kept coming. she would tell me it is ok and i would stop, but then cry again.................im crying now. im so mad.gif that i have started to cry instead. what can i do? can i move there? i will do anything i dont care. but this is killing me i swear.........i dont know what to do. im lost

I know that you're frustrated and upset but don't give up. Your NOA2 is probably just around the corner. As soon as you get it, everything else flies by. You've come this far, don't give up. Before you know it, she'll be here and you'll be living your life together. Keep the faith!

Rob&Dawn,
Sebastian was a bit worried about sending in packet 3 before receiving it, even though I've been begging him to! He's just extra paranoid about jeopardizing things. Of course, I finally talked him into just sending it when they decided to mail us packet 3. hehe. We have the checklist, so he's going to fill everything out tonight, scan me copies so I can proofread them and hopefully mail it tomorrow. Thanks for the 6 week timeframe info, I wasn't aware of that. You should be getting your interview date any day now!

i'm bugging the hell out of everyone in the hope that they get so fed up with me they give an interview date just to shut me up!!

didn't do us any harm sending in pkt3 early, but i get far too impatient to wait!

I'm in the same boat. I can't wait for the interview date. My fiance too. We both want it before the end of the month so we can progress to the next step. Another France July filer sent me a pm today. They sent their p3 2 days after us and received their interview letter today so I'm hoping for some good news asap.

Have you guys started looking at the AOS docs and requirements? I just took a look...doesn't look too bad. More of the same/similar forms and some marriage type forms etc.

cham, from the VJ Australian Embassy page:

Depends on age but the main ones are MMR, Tetanus (Td) and Varicella

Many people have asked their Doctor's to have a blood test to determine their ammunity. If you cannot remember when your last Tetanus jab was have one done and get the Doctor to print out the date you had it. This can be claimed on Medicare, ask the Doctor to print out the results to show the Medical Examiner.

A blood test for immunity is recommended if a full vaccination history cannot be found.

IMPORTANT: Request original documents from blood test results and vaccination history. Photocopies and faxes are not accepted.you should check out the VJ embassy page.

It seems like every month a few VJ'ers are added to the 6+ month club and it seems completely random like there's nothing you can do to prevent it - maybe its name checks, maybe its lost documents or maybe its just sitting on someones desk. i think that any one of us with NOA2s could have been in the same position. whatever is going on i hope that uscis figures it out because it's very unfair and frustrating. i really really hope that you guys here something soon!!

Call DOS. The phone number is 202 663 1225 ( press 1 & then 0) & ask for an update on your case & they will tell you everything.

Only problem we found with that is that DOS is usually 24 hours behind the embassy, I called them on the extortion line and have emailed them a few times, they have always got back to me within 48 hours.

in fact I got a lovely email this afternoon saying

I don't drive and neither does Jeremy. hahaha. all of our friends make fun of us. There's so much public transportation where I live so I've never had to learn BUT I've started the process. Last Saturday I had my second lesson. My friends took me to a parking lot to practice. I'm determined to have my license by the time Jeremy gets here. We won't need a car for where we'll live but at some point we may need one.

I think that eloping is a good idea. We may have to consider that one.

Enjoy the rest of your time with your fiance.

The little chapel of flowers, it is where we will get married in march smile.gif !!!
Just Jamie and I will be in Vegas, we will stay 3 days at the Bellagio, then the week-end after we will have a party with our friends at home.
For the work I'm kinda lucky because I'm copy-writer freelance and I can keep my job (like I did last year when I was in the US). My clients are all french companies and they don't care if I work from LA or from France.

How did you get into freelance? Did you start off working at a firm? Just curious smile.gif Your job sounds fantastic!

Well, I worked in an advertising agency for several years. Then at the end of 2006 I met Jamie in Milan during the Chili Peppers tour, I'm a fan and I follow them on tour and Jamie works for them. It was very strong between us and we found out that the long distance couldn't kill our love. So, after 2007 of seeing each other every couple months we had to take a decision. Jamie works as a sound engineer for big american bands, so it was difficult for him to find this kinda place in Europe. I didn't want to do another job cuz' I love it, so I discovered that it was pretty simple to open my own buisness. So, I left my job at the end of november 2007 and began my freelance, I was kinda worried about french companies, I wondered if thay would be ok to work with somebody who is 6000 miles away. But it is not a problem for them, I have my bberry all the time close to my bed so even if I have an emergency during the night (the day in France) I can handle it.

That's really nice that you can continue to work and keep your business despite the move. My SO will definitely have to quit his job but I live in the Bay Area and there's lots of tech companies here so I don't think he'll have trouble finding a job. I just don't think he'll be able to keep the same title. A little hardwork though, I think my SO will be able to find a good job and move up.

I love the Bellagio. I love Vegas. My fiance is already planning a trip there this summer. Can't wait.

As soon as you get your police cert, you'll be on your way. I'm thinking of a "renew our vows" type of thing but I'm still not sure if I want to spend $20-$30k on a wedding. Seems like I should keep that money for something else. Maybe I'll feel different in a year.

Holy cow, I know some people spend that on weddings, but I think it's insane to go in debt for it. I'm thinking like $2000 for a renewal (very do-able in Vegas) which would still have all the dress, tux, flowers, photos, cake, reception, etc (Little Chapel of Flowers looks like my favorite). Ofc there's additional expense to fly there and stay a few days, but I see it as the delayed honeymoon.

Andy also really wants to do the renewal so that we have the celebration with our families to look back on. This year we won't be able to afford a ceremony like we want to remember.

I agree. My SO isn't familiar with consumer debt (altho he will be once he moves to the US hehehe) so there's no way he'd sign on for that much debt, which means we'd have to save for a wedding but I don't wanna save that much money and then spend it on a party... I know for some people it means a lot to have a really nice expensive wedding, I don't think it matters that much to me. I'd rather spend that on a house but I also don't want to look back 10 years from now and regret not having a wedding.

When do you think you or your honey will be in the US? Do you plan on having a traditional wedding, a civil ceremony or both? What's your biggest worry about coming here/your SO coming here?

for me:
-end of April/beg of May tongue.gif (his job wants 3 months notice and my SO will give notice when he has the visa in hand)
-no traditional wedding until 2010, if we do have one. I'm not sure that I want a wedding. Civil ceremony at city hall when he gets here
-my biggest worry is that he'll be bored out of his mind before he gets the EAD and that once he gets the EAD he'll have a hard time finding a job that he likes -- especially with the challenging economy. hopefully it'll be better by the fall.

What is his job in France ? If he has a 3 months notice he might have a good career smile.gif

IT Engineer. Pretty decent smile.gif He says that he's prepared to not work for 3 or so months...trying to look at the bright side but I dunno. As Corinthians said, I think it's a big sacrifice to move from your home country to the US, to quit your job etc. I don't think I could do the same, not right now anyway. I don't speak french and my job skills aren't really transferable without knowing the language.

When: When he's saved enough money to cover the 3 months he won't be able to work... sad.gif
Wedding: Something ultra simple, inexpensive, and local; a couple places we have in mind have quickie packages so we don't have to do the courthouse. Renew our vows in 1-2 years in Vegas with a more proper ceremony and fly out our families and friends
Biggest concern: Same as now. Money & job concerns.

Still waiting on the damn police certificate. Andy's Internet was down all week, so we had to settle for short phone calls. We've been pinching every penny, so it was an unhappy extra expense. I don't feel like posting much since all I do is complain about the same things.

Im thinking end of Feb..(I HOPE!!) We are having a somewhat traditional wedding BUT not. We are doing the theme of the princess bride movie with a more modern twist.
these are the goblets I found for 10 bucks a piece; normally 30 a piece.

our dance is slow BUT will in the middle, be the dance from pulp fiction ROFL!! then back to the slow dance..funnnnn fun!!

we plan on having the wedding in the same place of our reception. Much easier if you ask me..we are getting a garden archway so we can make it all botanicial along with our centerpieces which we are making by hand.

Biggest worry?? Same as yours. That he will be bored..BUT he loves to cook and clean so he will be the house husband for a while..his idea so we can save a tad for the marriage visa..We wont have the funds right away..but SOON.

HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meri

princess bride with a modern twist smile.gif i like. "as you wish"

hey, just noticed you've added another transfer date to your timeline.....
Where's it gone this time ??????? wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

Hmmmm that was weird but anyway directed at CDNEH!!! devil.gif

I think I might change that, because I really don't know what the heck is going on. We were transferred July 17th to CSC, and the last touch was July 30th, the day after the biometrics. There has been nada since.

Now on the 16th October I get this notice, and so did quite a few others of us in a similar situation ..and we are not sure if they have transferred it back again, or if it is still there and finally someone is blowing the dust off the stack. I love these late Friday night emails that leave you wondering ..wth...pending. Good grief, after three months it makes the wording on the transfer sound a bit daft..."We have transferred this case in order to speed up processing..."

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

EXACTLY what a waste of time we we're sent to CA to speed things up and there processing times are longer than Chicago?????
OOOOOOH I could rip a tissue!

Erin and Johny: Good to hear from you at long last, wondered where you had disappeared to! The whole job thing SUCKS right now GRRRRRRRRR!!!!

KOAKLAND: I seem to be struggling with crossing over my UK qualifications to there US equivalents and I'm applying for anything with benefits in my fields of "expertise" lol

Anyway hope everyone is keeping well and not stressing TOOOOOO much (hmmmm)

OH Rybear had his 9 month check up today and the DR said he was the size/weight/height of a 15 month old (hmmm maybe too much Mcdonalds when Shans at work????!!!!)))))

stay safe!

SO some good news. Johny applied for a job yesterday, had a quick interview yesterday, and got hired yesterday afternoon! Anyways his job is full time, with some overtime. Pays 8.50/hr for the first month, 9/hr after that and then who knows from there. He has an education so hopefully he can move up in the buisness. I am just glad that he got a job, puts less pressure on me to work while I am finishing up school. Only 7 more months and I finally graduate. We still live with my father and probably will until I graduate but hopefully we will be able to save some money up to get a place as soon as summer rolls around again. So yay we are in buisness. Now only if we would get the greencard.

Yay!!!! That is really great! Congrats!! smile.gif

Wow I have not been on here in a LONGGGG time. So busy with full time school, work, job searching for johny and a very busy third grader...
Johny still doesnt have his greencard and has been transferred forever ago. It was finally "touched" today so hopefully the process will actually be moving again. Johny has applied for every job in the book and hasnt gotten a job yet. Pisses me off and the hospital has tons of jobs available and they havent even called him. There is a temp agency here that we are contacting so hopefully we get somewhere with that. We need money very bad right now. My school loans are runny out and im only working like 2 days a pay period because of school/clinical.

I hope everyone else is doing well...Just wanted to catch up.

sad.gif Keep your head up. Something will come through. Jeremy had an interview 2 weeks aho but he didn't get that job. He had a phone interview today that went well but you never know until you sign on the dotted line. Just gotta keep at it. hopefully there will be some seasonal work available with the holidays coming...

For those with EADS or Greencards, how's the job search going? Jeremy has been at it for about a month. 2 interviews so far but no offers.
