Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 January 2012 Filers
Not updated my biometrics date yet but will do so. I have something interesting though.
My biometrics appointment is for Wednesday 8th in Tampa, however I am in DC for a while working, so I was going to put it off until next month. However when I called in I was told I can do to any Appointment Service Center on the day with my letter and expired card and get them taken.
That's pretty good, so I don't need to delay! Has anyone here done same? ie gone to a different ASC? In a different state?

PhilippinesCommunication with your (long distance) partner
QUOTE (Steve and Nor @ Jul 1 2009, 01:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
But internet here in this part of Pampanga is poor. We usually have bad connection everytime we talk on messenger. My husband gets upsets. I hope he would bring vonage this August.
Is vonage dependent on the internet connection? Im worried that even if we have vonage, we still could not talk properly.
Is Skype okay even if the internet connection is poor?

I cannot comment directly on the Philippines, but I have used vonage, and I know at least one colleague from the Corp I work for has used Vonage from the Philippines to talk to his wife when he was there on business and it was fine.

My own personal experience, is that my wife and I were getting a tad frustrated with Skype voice, the quality was iffy, and that was on good dsl lines in the UK and US. So we could not always rely on it, when it was bad we switched to regular phone and did rack up some big bills. When I was last over we signed up for Vonage (did not buy it at a store, C called them and beat them up on prices so we got a good deal (she can be quite beligerent when she wants to be!) ). I have been very impressed with the quality. I brought the Vonage box back to the UK (so I don't have a UK Vonage account, it is US).

Apart from the great quality (it has never been a problem), as I have a Fl 813 number I get free calls all over the US so I can call her wherever she is, on her home or cell phone free of charge (well FoC beyiond the $20/mo sub. And here's the weird thing, on my plan I get free calls to the UK, so in a bizarre way it is cheaper to call the dhillons for a pizza through vonage than it is to use my home phone at times. Weird.

I have no weay of knowing if the quality would be as good for you over there, just that my own experience has been good, and anecdotal evidence from a colleague who was the one who recommended Vonage to me was that in Philippines it was good.

Maybe someone else here has used it from there could concur?

Philippinesprivacy between married couple
QUOTE (adiiann @ Jul 20 2009, 10:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The only privacy I am thinking of in our relationship is when we do the "number 1 & 2". laughing.gif

Though when I am cleaning our house, I saw some old pictures and letters from his ex-gfs. I didn't feel jealous about it. When I told him why he still have those things, he told he's not aware of it and didn't know its still around the house. Knowing him, I know its true because he always been that way. He keeps all my cards and letters with important papers.

Hmm, I wouldn't say doing a number 1 and 2 were "totally" private for us, but the bog is my reading time and she respects that ;-)

I don't mind her, or any of my pervious girls keeping stuff, since her past is a part of who she is and made her the person I fell for. Course if she kept them to read all the time and pine over, that would be different.... but I don't expect her to cleanse herself of her past, so I guess we feel the same here.

C and I have privacy in as much as I don't check her stuff and she doesn't check mine for the sake of doing so. But, we don't lock anything that the other person couldn't get access to and my laptop and blackberry is hardly ever locked, since her daughter likes to use them. If she did want complete privacy, I wouldn't mind since I trust her implicitly, completely. I would imagine if I didn't trust her, doing the long distance thing would probably eat me up wondering. I also give her my passwords to my online stuff since I am likely to lose them!

US Citizenship General DiscussionConflicting and confusing Information
A couple of weeks ago we received a request for information form asking for a tax transcript and proof of termination of previous marriages. The letter explicitly said that we were NOT to mail these items in but bring them to the interview. Nothing was said about an interview date however. Checking the online system today it says the case is waiting on information and can't proceed without it. So, as usual when dealing with USCIS, we are very confused.

Has this happened to anybody else?

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussiona couple I know asked for interview
Just a thought, but I wonder if there is such a thing as too much information? If it looks like somebody is overdoing it, maybe this looks suspicious to them?

Hi

I know of a couple who filled the petition...and they sent in both names the following:
car insurance , health insurance, bank account statements , tax returns
AAA membership , Vacation itinerary and photos .... It looked like enough evidence...don't you think????

She told me that she received a letter saying, 2 months later , INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE TO
SUPPORT BONA FIDE MARRIAGE.......
She then sent more...like several affidavits, copy of tax return check
jnsurance plan, boarding passes from trip vacation
more photos and holiday cards on both names... and she has to go to the interview on the 20th....

So I was thinking...Well, she sent a lot of evidence the first time ...The second time around, she sent even more...
but she got picked...

I was wondering...maybe this is because they have that quota of couples to call for the interview, and the computer picked her number.....Anyway...she is so terrified.....Nobody likes interviews, eh!

Meredith

False.
I read online that Canada has a lot of unemployment. doctors, engineers, and specialists from foreign countries are working low wage jobs and driving cabs and bussing tables and janitorial. To open your own business requires $800 grand, plus extra for your moving expenses. High taxes also will reduce your discretionary income. google "not canada" for the truth.

Is it too late to change it now? Should I just submit I751 since it might confuses them?

More and more I think of it, I don't think I changed my address to current one when we moved here. Stupid.
Would this be a problem?

From what I read online, the address on the 751 is the address that they will send correspondences to.

Yes, my wife just got a white paper but on it it says her visa was approved, and the VO told her it was approved, and my wife asked her if it was approved, and again VO said it was. So it must have just changed like this week.

It is pretty good for the most part, my wife is from Chengdu and super picky about food, but finds this place alright. There is another place outside Miami that is even better, but real sichuan food is almost impossible to find in Florida.... and I am sure your wife will complain about it after awhile lol. But we will most likely be moving to texas or cali next year... so I am hoping things will get better with regard to food.

Cool, thanks a lot. My wife is also a picky eater. I think California will be almost like China compared to here.

If she can speak English there won't be a problem, what is a problem is the lack of real Chinese restaurants in Tampa Bay... although we finally found a semi-real sichuan place awhile back.

ChinaTravelling alone to USA

I found out that an organization, Travelers Aid of Los Angeles, has a "Meet and Greet" service at LAX. A volunteer from their group will meet the passenger after customs clearance and personally guide them to their connecting flight. They will also assist the passenger in the event that the connecting flight is missed. The service is free, though they suggest a $35 donation to their cause. The volunteers will not accept gratuities. Great service! Didn't realize such philanthropy existed at LAX.

Should anyone need this service, here's the link: http://www.tasla.org.../meet&greet.htm

ChinaGot white and approved!
Nearly had a heart attack when my wife texted me "Got white paper". Called her and she told me that it says they approved her visa!

"congratulations your visa has been approved...."

Told her to wait two weeks to mail it to her hometown. They can mail almost anywhere in China now.

Her interview was at about 11:10 so she was towards the end of the group I believe.

VO was a lady who is very very friendly.

Questions were:
Describe SO.
When did you meet?
When did you marry?
Did his family attend marriage?
Ans: No but his mom did visit.
Did husband go back to US during his 2 years in China?
Ans: Yes, went back once to US for visa

Looked at pictures, but not the other 400+ pages of docs.

VO said congratulations your visa has been approved. Gave her WHITE paper.

My wife asked, is my visa approved? Confused because she was expecting pink for approval.

VO says "yes".

Entire interview 3 minutes.

THANKS VISA JOURNEY COMMUNITY! Couldn't have done it without this site. So happy that we are done with this process...and she will come to America!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLifting of Conditional Status
Dear VJ Family,
By the end of this year (2010) I will start working on my petition for the Removal of Conditional Status. My question is: "If my daughter (K-2)gets married before our temporary residency has been lifted, will it jeopardize her citizenship?" She will have a different last name by then. Will I have to include her in my petition still? Thanks alot if you can enlighten me on this one.

PhilippinesNSO documents
QUOTE (tedjen @ Sep 15 2008, 12:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi guys! This is the first topic, which I initiated (don't know if there's similar to this but anyway...)

I'm wondering if during the USEM interview, documents such as birth and marriage certificates from NSO need to be "new" (not later than 6 months) as they say there's a validity (?) of the said issued docs... I have 2 copies of each docs with me, though I got my birth certificate last year and marriage certificate this May. Reason why I got 2 copies of my birth certificate because every time I need to get a copy of this I should go to the NSO main (coz my birth cert has annotation--corrected typo) and when you will get NSO docs here you will go back after 1 or 2 weeks to pick up but when I go back to get it most often they ask me to go to NSO EDSA (after waiting for hours in NSO main--take note: from 12pm to 7pm)..

My question is if I won't get "new" copy of birth certificate and marriage certificate will have any problem? I'm thinking they won't mind it because applicants are paying document verification and isn't the purpose of this is to verify these NSO documents? Are those pre-screeners and/or consuls scrutinize these birth/marriage certs and if they are not "new" (since there's a paper color coding, if i'm not mistaken, but this changes every month?) will create delays?

And if I get these documents, I don't know what month or date should I get since were still waiting for NOA2 (sorry if this questions are too early to ask but I want to know as early as now so I know when to start gathering these things).

Your answer are greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi! You dont have to worry about your BC and your MC. Good thing you have more copies with you. You will need your originals in the US when you apply for your Social Security (they will just look at it). USEM will still conduct a document verification thru NSO and that is the pain in the ###.....Have you check things out with DELBROS for the document verification fee and procedures? Better do.....I've been through it and it sucks!!!!!! Good luck to your journey.

The only document that needs to be notarized is the affidavit of support. And dont forget to attach the supporting documents needed (e.g. recent income tax return, bank statement, pay slip, property records and/or a letter from current employer. )
Check on this web page http://www.usavisano...eevisainfo.html. I hope you find this helpful coz my fiance worked things out on his own and.....finally I am here (July 9, 2008) and got married (aug 08). Good luck
