PhilippinesGot a little sad upon receiving noa2 approval hard copy
Call CSC and let them know, it's not that big of deal. Especially since the other forms are the correct format. As long as your original app is correct, your good. Just call CSC and ask them, If it already went to NVC, then talk to them. If you just got approved, it will still be at CSC for a few days. I've never read anyone denied at the interview because of a typo on the letter.

PhilippinesNSO document verification
I tried both numbers and got the same answers. They say to Hufana at 926-7333. If someone else can get info out of them, power to you.

PhilippinesNSO document verification
I tried to call NSO, they have their employees trained not to give out any information. When I ask for Hufana the Director, no dice, they say she is either not in the office or at a meeting. They never can answer when she will return. When I ask for the second in command, they claim there is no other supervisor. It sounds like there is alot of calls to NSO looking for the same answers as I, so they are giving standard answers. At this point, I will have to bite the bullet and leave our faith in Gods' hands and hope for the best.

I am sorry to report, I have failed to crack the NSO system.

I hope someone else can get this resolved in the future so other people in the future do not have to go through this.

Do we have to sumbit NSO documents like birth cert., cenomar or marriage cert. before the interview date at the embassy?I believe what they verify is the filipino fiance'/ fiancee' documents but how can they verify such documents when we dont sumbit any yet. Or is this just an advance payment?

QUOTE

you are right, how???
The filipino beneficiary will be the only one to submit the NSO certified BC and Cenomar, and this is during the interview.. So they ask us for verification fee, we must pay it before the scheduled interview. So, yes its an advance payment.. does this mean that the actual document verification will start on the day the consul received the actual BC and Cenomar? but many here in VJ suggest to pay a month before the interview to avoid delays. what will NSO check if the actual hard copies are not there yet? this is confusing me more wacko.gif

I hope someone can answer these questions you have. I will be calling up on Sunday night in hopes I can get some info on my case. I still don't understand how this portion of the process has suddenly become an unsoloved mystery or 9th wonder of the world.

Hopefully I worry for nothing and everything will be there on Friday.

PhilippinesNSO document verification
I am still having a major problem with the NSO document verification and the ability NOT to be able to get any info about it.

From what I'm understanding or information I'm receiving. The USEM sends some documents (unknown which they are exactly) for Delbros to pick up and deliver to NSO. This is the part that kills me. The USEM send the docs to Delbros on a Monday and Delbros will send the doc to NSO the following Monday, so there is up to 2 weeks lost for waiting. After NSO completes what ever they do, they send it back to USEM. In our case, Delbros sent our stuff to NSO last Monday, the 17th and our interview is next week on the 28th. And if NSO does not complete by the 28th, we will be on AR, thus taking longer to wait. This is the problem other people are having with this document verification thing and holding people up. I spent last night calling many different numbers at NSO to ensure that our paperwork is complete prior to interview so we do not have the same problems other people did. After them giving me atleast 4 different phone number to call. Every person I talked didn't know anything or who is exactly in charge of the department. I don't understand what the big secret is. All they kept saying is "kindly call this number sir and they can assist you." Each different phone number I was given, led to a dead end. I was really trying to get info out of anybody because I know this Thursday and Friday the offices are closed. Delbros says it takes 1 to 3 weeks for NSO to complete doc verification. Now, if it's 1 week, cool. Longer, we got problems. I/ we have complete every part of the process to the "T" and it is just frustrating that no One knows about this part, even the NSO office.

Does anyone know different information about the process. Please post for everyone to read. Thanks in advance.

I really hope my aggravation is all for nothing, but I just have a hard time understanding why the NSO will not provide information about this process or why they cannot be contacted. Maybe they should have a call center to get revenue for information. They would have got a few bucks out of me last night instead of the phone company.

So, has anyone tried to contact the NSO? If so what number did you call, and what information did they provide you?

Well, you see, experienced, or will soon encounter the problems in this part of the system. I really hope this portion of the process is soon fixed.

PhilippinesWoot we have a VISA!!!
Congrats to you.
chuck_n_roseMalePhilippines2008-03-14 12:00:00
Philippineshow will we know that delbros verified already the docs?
And I am 99% sure you will never get any info out of the NSO when and if your docs have been verified. The other 1%, is for a person that has a friend that works in the NSO. I tried everything to get info out of them, and I don't take "No" for an answer and was very adamant with the folks over at NSO. The problem is that there are too many people calling looking for info, so they shut down the info highway.

So, just pray for the best and expect the worst, and you will never be disappointed.

Good luck to you.

PhilippinesHeading to Manila
Here I am sitting in the Ever Gotesto Mall in the internet cafe, just living the PI dream. Rose is so nervous, I doubt she will sleep tonight. I told her that I will sleep for her. And she will probably start yawning when the consulate asks her questions. Plus, she got up 2:30am to pick me up at the airport. She wanted to get to the embassy 4:30 am. and the debate, bargaining, and deal or no deal started. The compromise we will leave Ortigas at 5am and should get there about 5:30. After reading what Aaiz said about getting there so early, I knew it was a lost cause. Cant wait til my next post because it will be the results.

PhilippinesHeading to Manila
Hello to my fellow VJer's. Well, tomorrow I will be headed to San Francisco airport to travel to Manila. I just called the USEM trying to get more info about this NSO doc verification, but still no luck. It must be some kind of National Security secret. I might have better luck finding Osama Bin Laden, than getting info from the NSO on my case. I am putting the rest into God's hands to see what happens this Friday, the 28th when we have our interview. I can't wait to have the full interview experience. I have read so many other interview experiences and it sounds boring, but fun as I easily amused at odd sequences of events that occur around and the USEM sounds like it will be an action packed adventure. I plan to bring a small notepad so I can recap all the proceedings. I hope it is worth more than the price of admission. I will be more than happy to post my experience (mostly because when I do, it means the interview is over). I especially want to see if the guard makes me drink from the bottle of water I bring into the embassy. [just another occurrence that will entertain me]

I just want to take a moment to encourage all those still waiting for everything to happen. Whether you are at the beginning stages or near the end, never give up on the system. Our case has taken 6 months and 4 days from the day I mailed the packet out. I suppose this is a short wait compared to others. I am a California Firefighter and have been in a few near death experiences (actually, not in my eyes because the job is what I was meant to do in life and I am doing my part to ensure the safety of the people I protect) so I feel that I am a strong individual, but the waiting period of checking the USCIS website became very frustrating. No news on Friday made for a long weekend until I could check again on Monday. Looking at other timelines and wondering how long it will it can be even more exasperating. The funny thing was that Rose, my fiancée, discovered that we were approved before me. So, I didn’t even get a chance for the escalation of finally seeing a change on the USCIS website. When I least suspected it, there it was. Never give up, keep praying for good news, and know that one day this long wait is just a test of the love you have for your significant other.

The Visa Journey website and the people on here has been the single most important influence to our success on our personal journey. Follow the guides and ask questions. You will find more information on here than any lawyer could ever offer. Good luck to all. I hope all have success like Rose and I have had. It is a great feeling to be near the end.

Chuck

PhilippinesDrug Use
You will pass a drug test. However, if you answer "Yes" that you have used in your lifetime, then you will not pass. I would have to argue your statement, "I'm sure most people have used drugs at some point of their life". Although, a percentage of people have used at some point of their lives, don't assume that is okay just because you have in the past. And it will probably be legal one day in the U.S. So, it is up to you how you answer the questions in regards to previous drug use.

Can you please fill in your timeline?

Also which embassy are you with because you have posted this question many times. Best to just post in your area for best answers.

Philippinesboy do I feel stupid
What up Eric? I'm living the dream sitting in a mall internet cafe in Ortigas. I think you should just fax it so or send via email. Your orignal intent should be good. Rose had me make a new and I'm asking it where she read that you need a new one. But I would contradict because I think it is just a rumor. I don't see that it expires in the guides.

If you still dont want to take a chance, send by DHL, my packet that I sent to Rose was 10 ounces, but they round up to the pound and they charged me $38. and it might be less for a single letter. I would just sign it, scan it and email it to her and she can print out.

Good luck.

I will be calling again on Sunday night and hope they are in a good mood. I will let you know what happens. If you know for sure your papers are complete, then you should be able to travel with no worries at the interview. I'm already committed to go either way.

I suppose you dont read VJ very much. Look for the interview threads. You can probably call SLEC and see if they just assigned you an interview date since you did not call on the 19th like everyone else. If nothing, then you need to call the call center and schedule an interview date. The call center number is on the USEM website. There is nothing on the IV schedule for any one lately.

I was able to call the USEM 4 times with the same pin number even though the recorded message says it will only work 2 times, not sure if and when they will update their system when they figure they are losing potential revenue from this. Call about 1-2 weeks after the USEM received your packet. Good luck.

Philippinesairline tickets
I purchased my ticket from a friend of my mom's travel agent. She got me a round trip from San Francisco to Manila for $1050 and Rose a one way for $834. and our seats are next to each other. If I needed to change dates, there is a $75 fee per ticket. If you try to purchase in PI, your flight may be booked full or you may not have seats together. Also, remember that the planes fees change during different times of the year, so when other people tell you what they paid, it might have been during non peak season. I arrived here March 27 and we will leave April 4.

Before I purchased the ticket, Rose called man.y travel agents and was not able to get a lower price ticket and all the fees and taxes were included

PhilippinesMarch 28 Interview Experience
The USEM called us on Monday March 31 to notify us that our Visa was ready for pick up. We went today, Tuesday, and picked up. Rose is now in the CFO and we will go to another place to get the stamp when she has finished. That will be it, then we will just wait for Friday to go to the U.S. POE San Francisco. If I would have known that there were 2 different places to go: 1 for CFO and another for the stamp. Rose could have already completed the CFO and they do not allow the US citizen, me, to go in the building. So, I am around the corner sitting the internet cafe typing to you. Also, they had her come her and get a copy of her passport.

I know alot of people have asked me how they can pick up the Visa in person. I do not think they will allow unless the U.S. Citizen is at the interview. I typed up a letter "Request for Visa Pick up" and gave to the CO at the end of the interview. I told her that I already purchased the plane tickets and didn't want to take a chance waiting for Delbros to deliver. I also told her, I can show her the tickets, but she did not want to see. I don't know if will work for other people, but the worst they can they say is no.

PhilippinesMarch 28 Interview Experience
Hi all, I took some paper and pen with me to the interview so I could capture all the moments.

Well, Thursday night ended for us by going to sleep at 7 pm. I woke up at 2 am and so did Rose, so we decided to start our day then. Just taking our time and getting ready. We were out the door at 5am and quickly found a cab. It was your standard Manila cab (beat up, no straights, and a great contibutor to the ozone layer). This guy was one of the wildest driver's I've encountered. The would bet money the guy thought I was a NASCAR scount checking out his talent. I eventually him to slow down n we are not in a hurry. I was tempted to offer him 100php to take his time because we wanted to get there in 1 piece. He continued to jockey for postion and show off his runway talent. We arrived at the embassy at 5:45 and the arena of junk sellers were in full force. I was fed up after about 5 minutes of listening to them. We did have 1 objective: find a person to hold Rose's cell phone will we were in interview and did for a fee of 100php. [I came to find out later that we could have left it at the embassy gate for free, for future reference]. I knew I would be hungry, so we walked across the street to get away from the vultures. I saw 2 Starbuck, neither open it appreared. So, I went into the Yellow Cab pizza and got some half baked potatoes to go. We went back across the street to the embassy, more poeple trying to sell a passport photo. I said we have 2 extra, you want to buy from me, half price. After I finished eating, I noticed that the real line was down the street. I was a little upset. We got in the long line. As I was talking to people, I was getting a random sample survey and quickly dicsovered a pattern, everyone was there for travel or work visa. HMMM I kinda had that feeling since it had been a while since they set any dates. We went through the metal detector, I had 3 bottles of water with me, but only had to drink 1 of them. Once inside about 6:45, we were seated at the infamous bullpen of blue chairs. The guard was sending rows of people up to retrieve numbers. I took a quick scan of the room and counted about 130 people still waiting for numbers and about 50 people already with them give or a dozen. Rose got her number at 7:10, #7004. Wow number 4 of the K1 folks. Next is waiting for finger scanning. It is true what you heard about trying to hear you name being called. The decible level must be set at wisper on the speaker. It was not too bad at first, but once people in front of completed their finger scanning, they had no reason to keep quiet. I was very irritated with the loud mouth guy behind who was trying to teach the history of the stock market. I gave him the customary U.S. look back at him with a little eye roll, similar to the treatment a talker would receive at a movie theater. The funny part was he was still waiting for finger scanning. We were called to window 16 for finger scanning at 8:55 along with the 3 other K1 filers, who all arrived at the embassy long before us. We then went to window 26 at 9:45 for prescreening. The person ask Rose 2 questions and me 2 questions. When she had Rose sign the papers, I noticed she was shaking and just to mess with her, I asked her if she knew the date.

After that we went to winow 27 at 11:10 for the real interview, we had a femal CO. She asked Rose the following questions.

1) Where did we meet? answered correctly
2) Why did she like me?answered correctly
3) What do your parents think about you leaving? answered correctly
4) Does he have brothers/sisters? Yes, answered correctly
5) Is he married? answer Yes, {wrong answer}
6) What does he do for a living? answered correctly
7) What was his previous job? Paramedic {wrong answer, I drove an ambulance}
8) What does he do for hobby? answered correctly
9) What interests do you share? answered correctly
10) What did your fiance learn in school? answer, fire {wrong answer, I have a BS in Environmental Science [ to Rose's defense, I have an AS in Fire Science and AA in Liberal Arts}
11) What kind of wedding do you plan to have?answered correctly
12) What did your fiance tell you about the climate in California? answer, He said it was the same as here, the CO said it was nothing like here.

So, I just sat there in dismay, thinking she doesn't know anything about me. I would have been worried, but I noticed that the CO was just firing questions at here, thinking more about where she will go for lunch than the answers (or incorrect answers ) Rose was giving. The CO said, "Well everything is in order and you are approved to receive your Visa, please wait outside for your name to be called." Rose said thank you and I chimed in, "Maam, I have a letter typed out for a request for Visa pick up because we are leaving next Friday." She responded 'can I see the letter?" I gave it to her and she said OK, you can pick up Monday or Tuesday.

We both thanked her and went outside. At 11:25, we were summoned to Window 38, and it was the moment of truth. Will it be the pink slip or the white slip? The first question the guy asked after looking at the papers was what phone number to call when Visa is ready. As he turned the pages, I saw the pink slip that I saw on some others earlier in the day and was geatly relived. We left the embassy at 11:40 and recovered Rose's cell phone.

As promised, I saved every detail, except for the headache I had all morning I left, and the street vendors did not sell asprin and neither did the 7-11 across the street, go figure. Life is Good, and God has been good to us.

Thank to everyone on VJ, here is to another success story.

PS. Sorry, if I have any grammatical errors, I will not be proofreading.

PhilippinesNew procedure for interview dates
Hi all- I had put in a request of early interview appointment because of my job and possible deployment anytime after April 21st. I faxed it in, but it seemed so sketchy that I wasn't even sure if anyone would look at it. If you read the rules, it says that no one will call or let you know if it is or not approved. After reading other posts, now I realize and guessing that it was approved. I am so thankful because my biggest fear was for Rose to be on a plane headed to San Francisco and I get the call the phone that I gotta go for an all hands on deck. Now I will be afforded the opportunity to go there for the interview process. I still dont like the new interview procedure. I also don't understand why they are telling people that interviews will probably be in May, when if you look at the VJ interiew timelines, you dont see anyone scheduled for after April 13.

No one knows what they are doing with the interview. They haven't posted any info in writing so I am skeptical.

Thanks for the info Eric. I just sent out my request for early appointment via there form because once the April comes around with my job, I could be deployed anywhere in the state when things happen. I doubt they will accept because they dont understand how things works over here, even though I explained clearly the circumstances of our case and the problems that could occur.
