PhilippinesRetaining/Reclaiming Philippine citizenship
I too think it is a good idea for the dual citizenship. For any couple that plans on retireing or even maintaining a second home there it is a smart move. Alma and I plan on retireing there as well. And we plan on her having the dual citizenship for buying land and a homeand even some sort of bussiness. That way even after I am long gone god fobid but is a reality of life will have something to pass on to her and to keep in our family.

So we think is a great smart move unless you never plan to retire there or own any porperty there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilings for K1 Visa at US Embasy in Manila Or Filing the I-129f through US channels
First I and to say Thanks! for this site and this forum

I am starting my search for the best way to work getting married to my fiancee that lives in the Philippines. From my research and a friend that has just went through and successfully completed there journey to marrage to apply here in the states with the use of the I-129f petition. And this site am sure will be very usefull with that process as I have allready read and seen many helpfull suggestions to complete this process.
My fiancee however has been told buy some of her friends and family members that it is faster to just have me take her to the US Embasy in Manila to start the process. Anyone know if this is true or just wishfull thinking on the part of my fiancee? I have meet on 4 seperate occations starting in July 2006 to as recently as October of 2009. We have a bussiness together in the philippines as well. Is just a simple internet cafe but helps to suport her and wll continue to help with her family in the future. I am sure I will have many more questions along the way of our journey to get married but for now anyone know whats the best most efficent way to proceed?

Again Thanks and best of luck to all in there journeys

Have you ever filed for this or any other alien fiancé(e)
or husband/wife before?

The (simple) answer is "Yes" - you have.

Right, then name, year and country if you have no more details than that.

Thanks for the info. marrage when in the military seemed like a blur. The military added several layers of paperwork and background investagations. Pretty much all I remember was her final interview was in the seoul embasy and we were considered married from that point. So will put the name year and location along with the copy of the devorce in my paperwork will hopefully satisfy this part.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstarting our journey
First thank you to all that make this site very helpfull and informative.
Am gathering all information needed to start this process and have downloaded the I-129f and have started to fill it out. I got the section 11 on the first page and am not sure how to awncer it correctly. it states as follows:
Have you ever filed for this or any other alien fiancé(e)
or husband/wife before?
Ok here is where the confusion come in for me. I am retired Air Force and did get married to a Korean national in Korea when I was stationed in Kunsan. We went thru militry channels and used a marrage broker or marrage office there to perpare the papers. This was in 1985 we didn't return to the states till after being married for 3 years and one son later. I know we went thru the process for the green card and she was naturalized and is currently a US citizen. and yes this is a devorced spouse now. So do I check yes or no for this section. Or do I need to research thru imagration to see. Am cunfused. and if is checked yes they want information of name, location filed and possible additional documation. Good thing I have another 2 months before I file. Looks like I have my homework to do

I know it can take upwards of a month to receive the notification of NOA-1 from CSC. I sent it off on the 5th of May was signed for on the 6th of May in the am. Of course I see some here have received notification on NOA-1 in a weeks time. And I have also seen it can take a month before I should be worried. I checked and double checked every part of the application and am sure all is there. The only thing I of course now am thinking is using a PO box some kind of problem. I have the phsical address in all the write places but my mailing address is a PO box. Because there is just no postal dilivery to the address where I live. ANyone know if that is some kind of problem?

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Am feeling pretty good about the process just of course excited to see it moving along. Of course need the case number to track. I will sit back and relax. I know still have a ways to go.

I posted earlier about PO Box and if that would be some kind of problem. Well The PO box is perfectly fine but my receipt for my petition was sent to my physical address instead of my mailing address. So was returned to CSC as not diliverable. I called them to see why I hadn't gotten my reseipt. I waited as I have read here that has no affect on processing time so didn't worry too much about it. The person I talked too stated that they did receive it on the 5th of May and start date is the 6th of May. I gave him the correct mailing address and he said it was update and the receipt would be sent out again.

So was happy at first because got the number assigned to case but now I am second guessing what I heard from the guy. I am like 75% certian he stated my case date was the 6th. But when I happly logged onto USCIS to regerter for e-mail updates and track our case I saw after logging on a message stating that my receipt was return as undiliverable and had 180 days from 5/31/09 to correct the address or the case would be closed fees lost and so on. Confusion starting to fill my happy mind. Was the 5/31 date just because was touched then. I checked on the pending case under my number and show just updated on the 31st. Ugg is that the start date.

Well this is my question. Did I hear correctly that my start date is the 6th or was it put on hold untill they herd from me and got a correct miling address? Anyone know if your case is put n hold till address is confirmed?

Thanks for you advice and guidance. This is a great site and great people helping all of us traveling this journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI Need A Help
First Just want to say your in the right place to find help. I am new and not even close to an expert on visas. Can I ask a couple of questions that may help some of the more experianced members give you more solid relpys.
1st. How long have you know eachother?
2nd Is there any reason you can not slow things down a little. We can all relate to wanting to be together fast but if timing is not right. well is just not right. true love and real relationships can last thru tuff times.

My only inexperianced advice to you would be let your lady get on her feet. secure a good work record and housing. spend time growing together and when you have what is needed and required go for it. Oh and by the way Walmart is the largest employer in the world. Is a strong company and many have made very productive carreers there.

Wish you luck.. Stay strong and keep studying this site. These members will help you in any way they can.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of singleness
Ok I just read what I first typed. Trying to multi task. am my spelling and explanation didn't come off very clear.

Ok he should be able to go to the same office that issues marrage licenses. Then just ask the clerk what you need and they will do a search on there data base to show he had never applied for a marrage license there and will print him off a nice form with the state seal or even county one showing he never applied for a license there. they will sign it and that should take care of that requirement
Philippine requirements for the stamp and certificate from the cfo seminar.

I just got that very document and sent if off to my future wife as well so Know all about his confusion.
hope this helps

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of singleness
Hell all. I have actually just gotten a proof of singlness here in the good old US. You can obtain a certificate of no impediment to marry from the same office in your area the issues maggage certificates. Cost for mine was 10 dollars has the raised state seal and signed by some cleart that will do the search on the computer they have to show that he has never applyed for a marrage license in that or his state. I ready some got by without but a simple 10 dollar investment can eliminate this part of the journey.
Hope this helps

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease help RFE problem...doesn't have the 2 year meeting requirement for a K! visa
Your relationship has lasted the test of time allready. Is sad that this last attempt to be together apears to have failed because of a requirement put in place to protect the petitioner. Employing a lawyer with an unsure outcome seems to me to be a grasp at a straw that could just end up a waste of funds better use to travel there to marry her. Then apply for the Cr1 or K3 visa as one of the earlier post suggested. Your lady will understand am sure. I know after waiting this long and hen getting excited about the aproval has added to the wish to follow through with more action. But to me it seems your best course of action is to except that this is not a failure but just another test of your strong relationship and start working on your final test. I wish you the best of luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Help and Legalities
From what I have read all the way through this visa journey and seem to be the best way is to always tell the truth. In this case they are concerned with your employment and not his because you will be the one having to show the ability to suport him. If the question about his employment comes up then just tell the truth! I don't beleive that a tax question will even be brought up about his country and what he has paid in the past. Uncle Sam is concerned about your earnings.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThey accepted my I-29F, so what's next???
Like you have herd allready now is the waiting game part. 3 months is the average or there abouts. Never hurts to add up more proof of your relationship as you wait as well. With the new age of computers alot of people don't send actual letters but you should do just that. Maybe 2 or 3 a week till it is time for your lady to be interviewed. This does 2 things, one she will have dated mail from you to show during her interview and it will give you something to do as well to keep your mind occupied. Toss in a picture
here and there. I also enjoy sending some cute cards. She'll enjoy getting them and like I said just adds additional proof of an on going relationship. Never herts to gather any documents she may need for her interview as well. the earlier the better. Things like your tax records devorce papers if that applies and so on. all that information is listed in the guides. Congradlations on taking the first step. Wish you all the luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of meeting
All the above good.gif The important thing is proof that you have met withing the 2 year requirement as of the date you file. As far as the pictures goes is good dadded proof but the copy of your passport page that shows the stamp of your entry on your visit is the best proof. make a nice clear coupy of that. As well as airline ticket stubs or copy of an e-ticket. Hotel receipts and so on. Additionally for the pictures best are couple pictures of you and your lady. not ones from a hotel room as a suggestion. And Good luck joining the journey! Will be a bit of a long road but one well worth the wait.

I sent the petition off in the first part of may of with an incorrect mailing address also. I had the exact same posting of ""DOCUMENT OTHER THAN CARD OR TRAVEL DOCUMENT BEING HELD FOR 180 DAYS SINCE RETURNED AS UNDELIVERABLE " On my logg in all the way up to it changing when we were approved. the only thing that changed was touched dates. Did you get a letter that said your address was updated. should of gotten a copy of the NOA1 at the corrected address as well by snail mail. All the notifications I received were in regular document sized envelopes which should easly fit into even a small postal or po type slot.

Well question has gotten the correct replys. Suggest to continue writting hand written letters as well al the way up to the interview. Is old school but shows date sent. just additional proof of relationship. With the age of the internet, e-mails, chatt loggs is just an additional layer of proof that your relationship has depth and another layer of proof for the interview. Just my 2 cents. good.gif

Once you go to the site you'll need the case number assigned. That is on your letter of receipt from the NOA1 that came in regular snail mail. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEasiest way to send money
I have been using the wal-mart green dot system for close to a year. Have had no problem on either end. easy to use easy to withdraw. Just $3 dollars to load. Was using Western Union which was alot more expensive. For me anyways the debit card is the way to go unless you perfer to spend more money. Start up cost is 6 dollars for the cards then you logg on to the wal mart site instruct on the names and pin to be used on the cards. 5 to 10 days to get sent to you then pass on to your better half. There is a $3 dollar a month service charge on the card as well. Still cheaper than sending over and over again Western. Easy to add amounts with a stop by any wal-mart. To me is easy win win. good.gif
