Call NVC by Phone (603 334 0700), after a week or 2 from the time USCIS approved your petition.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow will I Know
Call NVC and ask for your case number, be ready with your receipt number, petitioners and beneficiary name and birthdate. Receipt no. Is different from case number. As soon u have ur case number, like in Philippines and other countries they could start having ther medical exam and appointment for interview, while others they have to wait until the consulate had recieved your packet 3 checklist and tthats the time they could give you the interview date. So try reading about it. Also, You can call again NVC to follow up your documents when it left and recieved by the consulate so you'll be aware of the its whereabouts. Goodluck on your journey..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 not yet recieved
Oh, thanksss. Now atleast i could relax and sleep well. Im just worried because everyone in the vj forum i read about the movements of the documents much faster than i thought. Yes, i already sent them a copy of my passport but no replies yet. The NVC told us they already sent the case at the consulate on Aug 13..before we knew my birthdate was incorrect. And i track the dhl it shows one package recieved on Aug 17, i just did assumed its ours since dhl takes 4-5 days only.. Hehe.. :innocent: ,

Can i ask u a question pls? about the spanish police certificate, do i need to have it translated in English? All my documents where in English since my country of origin second language is English already. And during visa delivery do the embassy courier ask for the delivery address since i will be moving out next month, i dont want it delivered here on the address i filled up on the documents.

Thank u so much. You are so very helpful.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 not yet recieved
I would like to ask anyone with the same situation , On august 13 we called NVC and ask for information about our case status. They asked for the receipt no, petitioners name and birthdate and benefeciary as well. All the information were correct because they gave us our case number and to when the case were forwarded to the Consulate of Madrid. Right now still waiting for any notice if the consulate had recieved it or when they will send me the packet 3. (sent aug 13 from NVC to consulate) i emailed the consulate and replied that no case # in my name recieved and is incorrect and i have to contact NVC. I called NVC and the operator said the beneficiarys birthdate is incorrect and case # thus we have to send a copy of passport and wait for 20 days. Question: is it possible while waiting for the response of NVC and the consulate could send me the packet 3? Because i assume that they already recieved it its been 2 wks. Thanks

Hello, i guess as far i understand..U had a wrong point of view.
I myself am a muslim and just closed my NV case and now going for interview in madrid..

Well,u were engaged but at the same time you got a marriage certificate back in 2009 so that made u a husband not a fiance..when u have a marriage certificate, you r married.simply..Traditional receptions and functions are not meant to be a official marriage.those r jst customs..official marriage is a contract paper that u obtained back in 2009..

so u had no reason to apply for fiance visa when u were married so even now, when u apply, explain u submitted a wrong application.and you will have to put the ur marriage date of 2009 that is written on marriage paper as i told u earlier, official departments go for official documents and not for ceremonies or functions..

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWrong passport number on VIsa

Get the embassy to change it, you don't want to risk going to the POE and your visa is insufficient because of an embassy error

good luck

I emailed to the US embassy in madrid and got their reply that they put this number always.but this number is my booklet number.so i guess,i just print the email and take to POE if there is any problem,i show the correspondence with embassy..

Hi to every one.
I have just received my CR1 visa with my passport at my home in spain. While looking at the visa,i made sure, embassy has put booklet number under passport number heading. Now i am confused,if they have done it by mistake. All pakistani passports have passport number written just on the front page in the upper corner whereas booklet number is written on all pages of passport.

so any advices are appreciated.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A form - applicant's residence
Anybody else go through a similar situation? We're about to send the I-130 form and are stuck on the G-325A form with the addresses. My wife has a home base permanent residence in one city, but also another temporary place in another city due to work.

For me (the USC) I was living with my then gf in the unofficial address for over a year until we got married and she registered me at her official address. We still live the majority of the time at the unofficial address, but when dealing with my immigration process here in Spain I use the official address. My wife also uses the official address for all official matters.

On the G-325A if I only put the official address I have a gap of residence in the last 5 years...

For my wife, I'm afraid of only putting her official address on the G-325A and then in the DS-230 putting the unofficial addresses; basically it would be not providing the same information in all the forms and then send up red flags, wouldn't it? Or can she argue that she didn't put them in the earlier forms because they weren't her official addresses, and now that the DS-230 asks for addresses where she has lived we have provided those?

On the other hand, if we provide all the addresses now, would it complicate matters like Navy said above, and ultimately send up red flags or delay the process if they need RFE's? I have a statement made for the supplemental page that basically says we live at both addresses because of my wife's employment situation and that we travel between both as frequently as we can. The permanent address is used for all official purposes.

Just a bit confused and worried and looking to see if anybody has been in a similar situation. Thanks again.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A form - applicant's residence

Why create unnecessary confusion and mess your case up. Just give them the official address.

Remember the people who process the application are people just like you and me and sometimes what you mention may confuse them - just make it simple and true.

Thanks, but that leads to another question...what happens then with the DS-230 form and the interview? She will have to put down all the places she has lived since she was 16...

I understand what you are saying Navy, and I generally do the same with less important things back home as I did contract work out of Hawaii, but never officially lived there. However, since there are so many forms in this process I don't want to have different versions of our story. Plus, the place we currently live is on an island, so someone familiar with Spain in this process will know that she can't work where she does and live at the official address.

Just wondering how important it really is to provide both addresses...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A form - applicant's residence
Hey guys,

Getting everything ready for the I-130 form and we are filling out the G-325A forms at the moment. The background information is that I live with my wife (we got married in Spain) and we are living in one city due to her work, but we are both officially registered at her apartment in another city and it is our official address for all official/governmental purposes.

My question is that under the "Applicant's residence last five years" how do we go about explaining the situation? I prefer to tell the truth and say that one address is the official permanent address and that we have another current address due to employment. Will this cause any problems? Is it better to not even mention the current, unofficial address?

I'm in the process of writing a supplementation page describing this issue and we are hoping to send everything on Friday, so what's everyone's opinion on this matter?

Thanks a lot in advance!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoint Sponsor or Household member??
Hey guys,

So today we sent out the DS-230 part I and II with all the supporting documents, and now I'm getting everything ready to send out the Affidavit of Support stuff. I've got a couple of questions concerning it...

1. I have copies of my tax returns for 2008 and 2009, but in 2010 I was unemployed living with my wife in Spain. Will a letter suffice or do I have to have something from the IRS stating that I didn't file for 2010?

2. In 2010 I've been living in Spain and unemployed, so I need a joint sponsor or a household member. Here's my question...I've maintained my permanent residence at my parents house for the last 5 years as I was working out-of-state contract jobs and never resided where I was working. With that said, can I file I-864A with my stepfather, even though I'm currently living in Spain? Or do I need him to be a joint sponsor only and he doesn't count as a household member? He has written and signed a letter of explanation that although I'm temporarily in Spain that I've maintained my permanent residence at their house and that we intend to live with them until we get on our feet.

I have all the necessary information from my step-father (3 years tax returns, 6 months pay-stubs, I-864, I-864A, passport photocopy, and the letter of recommendation), just wondering which route to go and see what you guys think!

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTravel to the States after interview but before the official move
Hi guys!

So yesterday we received our NVC Case Complete email, wooohoooo! Our interview is set for July 5th and we are getting things ready.

There's just one major doubt that I have and was wondering if you guys could help out. It'll also be a question we have for the embassy, probably asked in the next couple of days.

The visa is the CR-1 and if the interview goes well we'll be ready to move! However, due to lots of things and especially because we'll be taking our cats, we won't move until the fall. However, we have already made plans to travel to the States to celebrate my mom's birthday at the end of August. My sister is coming from Ireland and my brothers from Texas and Colorado, so it's something we can't miss. Also, we are going to combine it with traveling to some universities to check out graduate programs and hopefully talk with some people.

My doubt is the following:
If she has the visa in her passport and we travel at the end of August, but won't officially move until say November, should we do the official POE in August? Or should we explain that we are there for a week to celebrate the birthday and talk with universities and that we will do the official POE in November when we bring the cats? I understand that once she gets the ok and stamp at the POE she is free to travel abroad, but will it be a problem in the future if we aren't officially residing in the states during those two+ months? We won't make the time difference between August and the official move too long, but I would say after the holidays at the absolute very latest.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for everything!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice check ups for the places u have lived since u were 18

I believe a quick background check is done on the beneficiary (you) at either the USCIS or NVC stage, yes. Maybe someone else can give you a more concrete answer, I'm not 100% sure when it happens.

makes sense, but perhaps they need a more exhaustive check. Gotta keep calling the American embassy in my country and try to find out.

Been trying to talk to someone in the American embassy of my country but they don´t answer.

Here the question:

U know that one of the requirements to get the Fiancé Visa is to show the police record of the countries u´ve lived in since u were 18. OK, one of the places I´ve lived in is The USA. Do I still have to get one or is it automatically generated when my fiancé filed for the visa?

Thank you.

am a us citizen my fiance is from venezuela living in spain with an expired visa..i want her to come to the us cause is to hard for me to travel back and forth.we are marrying soon iin spain. but we wanna live together like every couples dream.

what are the steps to take? any one help...it will be gladly appreciated..

The American citizen applies for a fiancé visa at the USCS. If she doesn´t have the Spanish nationality, she will have to go back to Venezuela where she will receive all the paperwork.
How do you guys want to get married and live in Spain if none of you have a Spanish nationality? Venezuela is one country, and Spain is another.

Good luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPOEM

We've filled out the forms, and paid out the fees,
We've dotted the i's and crossed all the t's.

It's frustrating at times, and seems like a racket,
When you get the forms, but no instructions in the packet!

Now we sit here at times, and say what's the deal,
Please simplify the process, not re-invent the wheel.

You'd think that by now, it would be figured out,
Cuz how many people have gone the same route?

My fiancé and I, have been waiting forever,
For an interview date, its now or never?

Very creative.
Hang on, you guys are almost there.

The stress of it all, can be hard to take,
Especially at night, when you lay wide-awake.

You try to stay cool, and you try to stay calm,
not turn crazy, and blow up like a bomb.

So please make it soon, and grant him a Visa,
So Natoy can come home, and be with his Leesa!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow much longer after NOA2

I think you have misunderstood the information from one issue that is true; the USC petitioner DOES have to prove that the beneficiary will not become a public charge by providing the affidavit of support and proving that the petitioner's income is at least 125% of the porverty guideline for his or her household size. Yet, there is no need for the beneficiary to show savings or economic solvency, at all.

Then my fiancé will have to stop having 3 meals a day..... I´m kidding. We both have decent salaries.

Thank you.

I'm going to get in trouble for this, but please find the Humor. I never heard of such a thing and I think you may have read it wrong. The earlier posts are correct. A limit of $10.000.00. But why would you do that? Why would anyone do that. It is not required in any shape or form. Are you going to Check-in $10,000.00 as carry-on luggauge in a briefcase. OMG! LOL. They will think you just sold a bunch of drugs and never pass security. LOL.. It's fine to have that in a Bank Account, wish we all did. Good Luck! I'm in Trouble.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow much longer after NOA2

Mmmhhh... They may ask you how much money you are bringing to the USA (just as they do ask whenever you travel to a foreign country), but the question would be made so that you pay taxes if you bring over US$10,000 as you have to declare larger amounts of cash. Yet, I do not believe there is a "minimum" amount to bring plus, are they going to make you count the money in front of them or they will prevent you from entering the USA? It would not make sense.

i read this: when u go to the interview, u have to show them a bank transfer to a bank in The USA. That´s one of the requirements for the Fiancée Visa.

there´s a form we have to fill in which they ask u how much money u taking to The USA.
Also, i´ve read on this website, that someone took with him 5,000 and told him at the intervie that he needed twice that money in order to be given the visa.
They want to make sure they won´t have to help you.

Depends on consulate.

For the most part, P3 contains a DS-230 (part 1 only) and a Document checklist that instructs you what docs to get for the interview.

Docs:

  • Birth cert
  • Divorce certs if any
  • Police certs from all countries lived in for 6 months or longer since age 16
  • Certificate of no marriage, (Consulate specific like China or Philippines)
