Hi. So, it´s time to remove the conditions on Residence via marriage. I´m submitting form I-751. Do I still have to submit form I-90 ( application to replace permanent resident card) ? That is, removing the conditions automatically means they are sending me a new GC or do I have to apply ( and pay ) for it?

Thank you Sirdaniel42 for your answer. So, let me see if I understood correctly: The NOA will work as an extension of my current GC? Can I then go out of the country and come back and show this NOA to the immigration officer and he will let me in? Is my understanding correct?

 

Of course, I know that if the CSIC request an interview we have to attend. Just crossing fingers they don´t give us an appointment while we are out.

Since my Conditional GC is expiring in May, we will be sending our I-751 to remove the conditions of residence next month. Does anybody know how long it takes? We´d like to go to Spain ( my country ) in July for vacations but we can´t buy any plane tickets until we are sure I got my GC.

 

Any thoughts or experiences anybody wants to share, please?

I've changed my last name to my husband's, my driver license, the bank account, everywhere except for the USCIS, that is, my conditional green card still has my maiden name. We are filling for the removal of condition of residency for the green card in one month. Do you think we are going to be in trouble for not having notified the USCIS about the change? Can I try to change it now before we fill for the removal of condition of residency?

Is it OK if she´s an alien on an H1B visa, or do we need a U.S. citizen to write it? The other letter will be written by my husband´s boss who was born in Russia but is now a U.S. citizen. It going on to 4 months for the NOA2. Twice now, I have gone to Colombia to be with him. From all I have read about the huge wait times, I am thinking of moving to Colombia to be with mi hombre until the visa is approved...But getting a job in Colombia is the big issue for me. My Spanish comprehension is minimal. This is a test of love. But I am not interested in being tested, I just want the visa in hand NOW so we can start our lives together.

I keep trying to think up strategies to help the time pass faster. But it is difficult to devise a strategy for this when you don't even really know what the wait time is. Visajourney has an estimate of 87 days to NOA2 on their table of wait times. I think the table might be a bit outdated.

What is the deal with waiting 6 months just to receive a %^&* REF? To me this just seems like an abusive relationship between petitioners and the US government. Can lawyers really speed up the bureaucracy? Somehow I think they too are blowing smoke up our butts.

VJ says that the interview is normally 3-5 weeks after the NVC forwards the case, but I am interested in any recent experiences. Probably because we have been waiting a long time and I feel like i need to do something!

Well i have called the ambassy and told her my fiancee made an mistake with my date of birth. she ask me what is my DOB so i told her she said she have changed it in her system so when i come for interview we will see how it goes? hopefully this is not gona be pain right? or they gona delay my visa or something?? anyone have an idea i think since the ambassy got the case and NVC OR USCIS have nothing to Do with this no more it handed to ambassy so they will change it? its just an mistake so i hope they wont make an big issue about it what u people say about it?

You need to decide 'which source' you are going to follow.

If your Packet 3 'postal arrival date', to your postal address, is prior to June 4, then follow the Embassy web page.

The fee 'change-over' occurred on June 4 - it's not up to the Embassy to tell you anything about it, personally. No One Will Call You or leave a voicemail. No One.

I can understand a case of righteous indignation, you betcha. No worries there. It's still up to you, to decide what YOU will do. IMO, you've been given enough 'information' to make an informed decision.

I would say have your sponsor tick 'I intend'.It seems like some embassies have a problem with that.I was very confused,I had a problem with that till the last moment.My fiance,my primary sponsor,ticked 'I intend' while our co-sponsor ticked on 'Do not'.But we got approved.
Hence this is all a very subjective decision.Why take a risk I would suggest!

Nothing else he just want couple documents were in Checklist thats it i didnt need to prove anything he didnt even ask For Fiance Letter of intent .he asked me couple questions about her and me well then he was like we have to talk to ur fiance...Thats it Then he said this is envolpe u get at ur home,,, and u will find ur indian passort with visa pasted and u will get an another envolpe says DO NOT OPEN that one....and u will get ur passport in 2 weeks by mail.......So whats everyone thinks? Have i got Visa yet or what? Even he forgot my sign for DS156K I have to went back in and ask him sir am i supposed to sign a paper? Heya

Posting a day early, coz I know we're Feb '10 CSC filers as we'll be mailing our I-129F off tomorrow. Can't sleep I'm so excited!

And with you on the waiting. Had to wait for my divorce to be finalised and erm, for him to formally propose. Which was fair enough, I didn't want him to until I knew for certain that my divorce was nearly finalised. And then he had an 'omg, wth am I doing' moment, we broke up and got through barely 24 hours before he took hold of his senses and had another 'omg, wth am I doing' moment that reversed the initial one. Anyone still with me? lol...

We also had the slowest 2-4 working day delivery, thanks USPS, that meant our I-129F package took 10 working days to get there. The day it arrived, I had couriered a replacement one to him and now we're actually waiting for that to arrive tomorrow because it's got the 2nd copy of the G-325a that I forgot to include, as well as the copy of my decree absolute that wasn't available when I sent the first package and also the 'proof of name change document (my first marriage certificate) which I'd been told wasn't necessary as it was supposedly listed on my divorce decree. But as it wasn't, I decided to include the name change proof which they'll either need or not. So that's one potential RFE crossed off the list.

Gonna be a nutty fool once we've put it in the mail. Trying to think of fun ways to mark every passing day until NOA2 arrives. At the moment, I'm thinking of putting money in a jar each passing day, say £2 a day. I won't miss it but it will slowly add up :)


WOW mines got approved on 1 april as well so we are on same time line i guess....

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 - SEPTEMBER 2013 FILERS

I had my interview in Boston past Tuesday. It took about 30 minutes and it was fairly easy. They officer asked me four questions:

- How long do we elect the president for?

- When was the declaration of independence adopted?

- Name one of the longest rivers in the US.

- What is the name of Speaker of the House.

 

After that I had to read the phrase: "Abraham Lincoln was a President"; and then write "Lincoln was President during the Civil War".

 

Other questions I was not expecting were:

 

- What is your wife's name?

- What are your children's names?

- When did you get married?

- When were your wife born?

- When was your child born?

 

And other questions like these that are easy to answer if you are married for real =).

 

I was told that I should be expecting a letter in a month or so.

I'm in Boston too, let me know how your biometrics appointment went. Mine is coming up on 10/11 at 11 am, thinking of getting there around 10 AM, not sure if I'm saving time by getting there an hour early?

 

You will probably save time if you go a little early. I went there 30 minutes before my appointment and 20 minutes later I was out of the building. No waiting or hassle at all.
