As per my signature, my naturalization oath ceremony is scheduled on April 17 in Charleston, SC. Can I bring a video camera? I know it is ok with digital camera! Anyone with any experience?

As an unpdate to the below post!
I called USCIS on Friday just a day after the interview and I was told by an immigration officer officer that they are reviewing my interview that was around 10:00 AM so I called back at 6:00 PM the same day and lo and belo the IO sais congratulations! You case has been approved and you are in being put queue for the oath. I called this morning to make sure I had the heard right and yes I am right! I am getting to the end of the journey! Thanks to all of you! Just remenber if you ever call concerning your N-400 insist on talking to an immigration officer if not they will make you go crazy thinking there is no activities at all. I am thankful to God and thankful to y'all and I committed to help others as well!

1-What is one responsibility of a us Citizen?
2- How do you call the ocean on the West coast?
3- HOw old do you have to be to vote?
4- What happened on sep 11 to the United States?

after that she told me to read: How many senators are there? and then I had to write: There are one hundred senators. Everything was going well 'till she said I have some biographic info to fill out since you have been in the military according to what she sees on the computer. I told her that I have never been enlisted in the military and that I did not even put that in my application! She said they might have been confused since I was registered for the selective service. She said she can not make a decision now but they will contact me in uo to 3 months for the result. She gave a paper saying I passed the english and US History and government and checked cool.gif A decision cannot be made about your application. Since she has to investigate a little bit more on that.

Needless to says I had at least 100 pictures one album filled with our wedding pictures and one envelop from Walmart filled with different pictures of me and my wife and other family members and also I had a big suitcase full of documents she did not ask me for nothing but my passport, driver's license. She asked for my Selective Service card but she found out I had sent a copy of it. The whole thing lasted about 15 minutes and no the security guard did not escort my wife to the interview room, so her and the kids were waiting on the lobby. thanks for each and everyone's support! I will give you guys and update as soon as it become available.

I am pretty confident that everything is and will be alright but it is just very funny though, how do you prove you were not in the US military? I guess there is nothing I can do with that but wait for them. What do you guys think?

I believe my case is lost and the USCIS or the congressman would only help me once the Processing dates (5 months) posted in the USCIS website have passed. Well, I'm a US Citizen now. Took the oath this morning and it was very wonderful.

Here is my experience for the Houston Oath Ceremony:
Arrived at the M.O. Campbell auditorium at 6:15 am. You get into a line depending on the last 3 numbers of youe A number. The same IO that interviewed me last month received me in my line. I gave him my green card and oath letter. He then showed me my naturalization certificate and asked me if all the info on it was correct. He gave me a colored piece of paper. I then went into the auditorium to join my husband and son. This is now about 6:45 am. At 7 am they begin to sell coffee, donuts and snacks. Cash only! So bring money. We then sit until 9 am when someone from Immigration gave us information on voter registration, passport application and SSA. Thay also told us there were 1,683 people there to take the oath !! At 10 am the Judge comes out and says a few words on freedom and your new responsibilities. The Judge advises us we are about to become citizens....if anyone wants to back out now is the time. We say the pledge....and like that, from one moment to the next, we are citizens. They then call your color paper and you go get your naturalization certificate. Stand in line to take pictures with the Judge. Next stop is SSA. You can complete the SS-5 form prior to going there. Bring the SS-5 form and your naturalization certificate to update your status with SSA. Next stop is Post Office for passport. Again, you can have the application completed prior to arrival. Have your photos and naturalization certificate ready......in and out in 15 minutes.

We are finally finished. It was a long, complicated and expensive journey....but with our Visa Journey friends we did it all by ourselves.

I do not think that you should be worried per say but you should be calling USCIS to know about the status of your case. When you call do not take the answer of Customer service they have very limited info as a matter of fact they can only see or tell you whatever if showing up on your case status if nothing. You should ask to talk to an officer and most of the time customer service will escalate your call to a higher up if your status is blank. As always you might have one who says: " wait one more week" do not fall for it

I have a question though! Does the FBI still do the same type of background check as when one is applying for Permanent resident or is it more extensive? Dpeending on our you got your green card, do they go 5 years back or 3 years accordingly?

A little update! I was schedule today for biometrics at 2 PM I got in there at 1:03 and went right through. The whole process lasted may be 10 minutes or less. There were only 4 people in the whole building not counting the 4 employees. SO I am awaiting now my interview appointment.

That's exactly what I did and they received it exactly 2 years 9 months and 2 days from the days I Became a Permanent Resident.

Interesting...... We actually filed the same date for the same local office. I received the exact same thing you received and it starts with NBC plus the numbers you indicated. I called USCIS this morning just to see if they would know anything about my case, the girl who answered the phone said that's not their number. I insisted that she let me talk to someone else and yes of course this time I was transferred to an immigration officer and she was able to tell me about it. SO if you ever have a question make sure you talk to an actual immigration officer, I guess they have more specific access to the case.
I am thinking also once you get the fingerprint appointment you will actually be able to check the status online. It is surely gonna be a new number 'cause the one I have is easy to guess!

Here is the error message I receive when I enter the Application number:
Validation Error(s)
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

* Your case information is incomplete within Case Status Online. For further assistance, you can either call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283, or you can send an e-mail to uscis.webmaster@dhs.gov.

I received NOA today showing Receipt and priority date November 26, 2008. Now I have a question! Where do i check the status online? I see on the application number NBC * and 9 digit number. IS that the number I need to check online? Also I was expecting it to be TSC does it mean it has been transferred? Please update my info as it is shown in my signature. Such as check cash and NOA.

This is an update of my situation with me thinking I did not register with the Selective Service. I just found out that I di register with them and that at the time of registration, I did not have a social Security Number. So if someone is getting panicked thinking he never registered, if you have a driver's licence you probably have already registered. Make sure you remember the address you were when you first got your licence.

Please people help others and not instill fear on them. It is true that ignorance is not an excuse but we are not the first set of people USCIS is delaing with so they know, they are stuff immigrants would not know about. I bet 50% of immigrants who are registered don't even for the Selective Service do not even know it 'till they are asked for it.

Thanks to those of you who showed understanding! I just don't want to mention anyone but anybody reading the post will be able to point you out!

I am filling for citizenship end of November so I will have my update posted. Looks like Texas Service Center is rolling!

Yeah. That's the beauty of this country, they at least give you the chance to explain yourself and to appeal. I am going to go ahead and get the status information letter from SSS and then wait. I am pretty confident that The US is looking for people with good moral character to be Citizen ans as long I can prove to the Adjucator/ immigration officer that I am a good person with good moral character, I will be alright.

I do agree that doom and loom thing is a little too easy to write. They are not out there to ban you on something and this is what makes America stands out. I do appreciate all your inout though. You guys have no ideas how many people did not know about this requirement. So let's share what happened to us and help each other positively.
Though I welcome each and everyone's opinion, I do carefully select which makes more sense. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse but in this case an explantion with proof is all that is needed. Thanks to God I am past the statutory age for my age which is 31 and 29 for LPR married with a US citizen. NOw this basically the confirmation of this last statement I am looking for.

I am not worried now anyway, cause I am outside of the statutory age requirement since my wife is a US Citizen. We've been married for 4 years now and I am over the age of 29. I do not think they should not give me any problem as long as I do not have any record with the police.

If you immigrate or adjust status before you are 18 you are required to register when you are eligible. Not registering is a reason to deny citizenship.

Thanks for your answer but it was not complete at all. There is more specification that is not too popular. I 30 and I am applying for citizenship based on my marriage with a US citizen ( I don't think I mentionned that before) I found the answer for myself and want to post it for whoever is in the same situation as I am. Here is an aticle I found:

NATURALIZATION AND THE SELECTIVE SERVICE

In general, all men ages 18 to 25 present in the U.S. (regardless of citizenship or immigration status) are required to register for the U.S. Selective Service. Men who are in the U.S. in valid nonimmigrant status (i.e. on a student or visitor’s visa) while age 18 to 25 are not required to register. Registering for the Selective Service does not mean that you will automatically be called to serve in the military.

Naturalization applicants are supposed to show good moral character for the five years before their application is filed (or three years, if applying based on marriage to a U.S. citizen). USCIS (formerly called INS) says that men who were required to register for the Selective Service but “knowingly and willfully” did not register during the five (or three) years before applying to naturalize can’t show good moral character. Many people don’t know about the requirement to register for the Selective Service, and therefore don’t register. If you are applying to naturalize, please review the following about the Selective Service requirement:

If you are a man but were not in the U.S. while age 18 to 25, or if you are a woman: you do not need to worry about this requirement.

If you are a man now over age 25 and registered for the Selective Service between the ages of 18 and 25: You can go to the Selective Service web site (www.sss.gov), enter your name, Social Security number, and birth date, and make a print out showing that you registered. Or you can call (847) 688-6888 or (847) 688-2576 to get proof that you registered. You should submit this with your naturalization application.
