PhilippinesBOOKING FLIGHT MONTHS BEFORE HAVING THE VISA ON HAND

Should we or should we not buy a ticket before having the visa on hand? and why?

shai

Shai,
Even if you ignore the possibility of AR, there is the current terrible delay in processing that is occuring for applications. In addition, if you booked your flight now, based on your current ESTIMATED timeline, you would be buying a ticket to come back during the height of the travel season.

If your estimated schedule is off even by just a few weeks, it will be frustrating thing for you and Wilson, but it will cost you hundreds of s less for the air travel.

I'd recommend that you wait until AT LEAST when you KNOW that you will have your interview. You can read the forums to see how long after the interview people usually get their visa, which I believe is delivered to your home or you can pick up.

That's what we're planning to do frank, to wait til we know the interview schedule. but it's still too risky right? what if i get denied? hehehe it's like i've already answered my question myself. well, i hope not... smile.gif

How can you book a flight when you dont know the date you will be able to fly on??? what happens if you did not get approved?? All visa applicants are told "Do Not Book anything UNTIL you have your visa in your hand."

Kez

Oh my goodness!!!! we just want to save money cuz price tickets are absolutely not cheap! darn. you're right. thanks anyway. sad.gif anything more?

PhilippinesIs the beneficiary allowed to travel using tickets purchased in the petitioner's country?
QUOTE (Sheriff Uling @ Oct 31 2007, 07:18 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Wilson and Shai

Absolutely! That's what we did...

The beneficiary may pick up the plan ticket(s) purchased by the petitioner at the ticketing office or at the airport in the beneficiary's country. Be sure to specifically ask the airlines what the beneficiary needs to bring in order to pick up the ticket(s) and then have her double with their Philippine counterparts. The one thing that seems universal is that the beneficiary must have their passport/visa in-hand before the ticket(s) may be obtained. My wife also brought a copy of the receipt along with two forms of ID.

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

p.s. - If you are flying with her, then the process will be a lot smoother...

Thanks! we're flying together!!! biggrin.gif

Packet 4 only. Mine was delivered today by DHL and the mail label said it was just sent off yesterday. I live in General Santos City, Mindanao, Southern bottom part of the Philippines, and very far from Manila. Good luck!

Philippinesis PDOS needed after the Medical (K1) aside from CFO?
This was what the Orientation Officer, Allan Ducusin told me in an email:

We wish to inform you that all Filipinos leaving the country as spouses and other partners of foreign nationals are required to register with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and attend the Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP).

Please be informed that the Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) is required only for family-based, company-sponsored, and independent class emigrants. The GCP, on the other hand, is conducted for Filipino spouses and other partners of foreign nationals and is being administered by our authorized service providers, the St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation – Center for Overseas Workers (SMEF-COW), and the People’s Reform Initiative for Social Mobilization, Inc. (PRISM)

After your attendance to the Guidance and Counseling Seminar, you will receive a Guidance Counseling Certificate (GCC) from the CFO. Upon receipt of your visa, you also need to register at CFO. One of the registration requirements is her CFO GCC. Registration could be done at CFO Manila, CFO Cebu or CFO NAIA Terminal 1 and 2 on a walk-in, first-come, first-serve basis. There is no need to set an appointment. An emigrant registration sticker will be affixed to her passport after satisfactory completion of the registration requirements.

TAKE NOTE: PDOS IS DIFFERENT FROM GCP.

May I ask how many BC and CENOMAR needed for the K1 visa....i just want to make sure and have the accurate documants..thanks!

Only 1 copy each is required. BUT! get more copies of BC cuz you will be needing it in the later process in the US like AOS.

Not a K1! As long as the BC is NSO and on SECPA it's good indefinitely.
CENOMARs one year but better to update if close to expiration.
Some prescreeners ask for it. Some don't. Case by case basis. Older beneficiarys tend to be asked for it more. Ones with children also.
People claim that USEM does random CENOMAR checks also as there is a LOT of fake ones.
Bottomline is since it's asked for for K1s. Get one.
You can order them online! Additional BCs also.

ITS A REQUIREMENT..so you MUST have a copy of it..
when I received my Packet 4, a note was attached to the front page, stating that CENOMAR IS A REQUIREMENT.

I got my CENOMAR online & the date was 3 weeks before my interview date.. better to get NBI & CENOMAR a month before the interview date.

Same here. good.gif I did also get a small note requiring CENOMAR other than the appointment letter, instructions, and forms. I got NBI clearance last week - 3 months before the interview. CENOMAR - a month before the interview - it took 1 week for me before i had it in hand. BIRTH CERTIFICATE - I got 1 copy in March and another 1 in October but there's no difference at all - doesn't matter how long u get it before the interview as long as it's in security paper. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ESPECIALLY TO UR SO.
