hi all i have a I-90 question i was wondering how i prove that they uscis made a mistake on my birth date because on the i-485 we made the mistake but during the interview he asked us if there was a mistake and we said yes and he would correct they birthday but did not. so i do i have to pay the application fee or just send it in without.

other question is when i file application i choose option for uscis mistake on green card but it doesnt ask what the mistake is so how to they know?

also is the birthday that big of a deal because we want to go to colombia soon but i heard for them to fix it is taking at least six months

thanks in advance

arizreynolds,

I-693 is only needed if the medical exam expired and vaccinations were not given before the interview as some embassies don't require them.

Since your fiancée had to go through the US embassy in Bogotá, her medical exam is valid for 12 months and the doctor had to have given her the vaccination supplement, form DS-3025. As per the I-485 instructions (page 4, item #8):

Fiancé(e)s

If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report. You may incude the vaccination supplement with your Form I-485.

You can make a copy of these instructions and tell the person conducting the interview the reasons why you didn't submit form I-693. Or you can find an approved civil surgeon in your area who will be willing to sign the I-693 without having to do a full exam again. Some will do it, many won't.

Just a reminder when it comes to the USCIS, never, ever, ever send original documents, only photocopies since they don't ask for originals. Just a heads up for when you file to Remove Conditions. For now, take photocopies of all the documents you sent them with your I-485 to your interview.

Diana

Carol and I had our AOS interview today and I am happy to announce GREEN CARD APPROVED!!!

The interview lasted 15 minutes and was very simple. The IO asked Carol all of the yes/no questions on pages 3,4,5 of form I-485...which I thought was very strange. Didn't ask for any supporting documents other than Carol's original birth cert. and photos of wedding & Colombia.

What a relief to know no more paperwork for 21 months.

Mark

Congrats feels good big load of the mind

I was RIGHT! Vanessa's green card came in the mail today, no AOS interview needed! LOL -I guess we're safe now for the next two years. Now we can go ahead and make plans for visits back home for her, and for the trip to Europe that I promised her as a second honeymoon someday (yeah, we still gotta be able to afford it first, but at least the government can't stop us now once we can...) Once again feeling On Top Of The World!!!

Hi everyone... :)
A lot of great info here and I have learned a lot. We are going to send packet 3 in on 3/7 and we hope to get a mid April interview. We'll see. My fiance is a concerned about her vaccinations. She doesn't have her records from childhood but she does have a card proving her tetanus shot dates (about 2 years ago) and one other vaccination I can't remember. I have read a lot of different things here about vaccinations, some people say it's good to get them before the medical, some say to wait and take whatever she has to show as proof and the doctor will determine what is necessary. I have read horror stories of how a lot of people are getting repeat vaccinations of shots they had weeks before from their own doctor in their hometown. I have also read good stories, but not many. Most of the information I read is a few years old on this site via forums. I guess I would like CURRENT info about this topic. I'm just trying to be prepared and remain informed like everyone else... anything is appreciated. If you can contribute thanks for your time!

my wife got her shots in her hometown when we went to see the embassy doctor they require all the shots over again I my wife says is it cost just about the same and it's a lot easier to use the embassy doctor

Good evening ladies and gentleman. Just had a quick question, maybe someone can help. How do you confirm that embassy in Bogota has recieved our petition so we can fax packet 3 to them? Can we contact the NVC and will they know or do we need to contact the embassy in Bogota? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

we called nvc to see when they sent and then we emailed embassy to see if they received. I can't remember how long it took for them to arrive but I think it says somewhere in vj estimated time. Or maybe someone can say cause I can't remember

Hello everyone...

We're going to apply for her SSN tomorrow. We only have one question about the application: As a K-1, does she check 'Legal Alien Eligible to Work' or 'Legal Alien NOT Eligible to Work' (or 'Other')?

It's been 10 working days since her POE, so I hope she's in the SAVE database already.

we put eligible for work and they gave us

arizreynolds,

If she wants to change her last name to yours all you have to do is start filling out every form with her new last name, the evidence will be your marriage certificate. The SSA won't send her a SS card because she came in with a K1 visa, they only assign numbers for CR/IR visa holders because they automatically become permanent residents after they enter the US. You need to go to their office to get one as long as she has at least two weeks left on her I-94; otherwise, you'll have to wait until she gets at least her work permit.

Diana

thank you

Visa in hand! (wow that was REALLY fast!)

Domesa delivered the visa to our address (in Bogota) today! It only took 3 days from the interview to deliver, not sure if its because it is the new year so they were able to process it fast or what! Regardless we are happy and are starting to look for flights to take!

congrats feels good when in hand

Hello all,I'm spending the next few weeks getting everything and anything that I can think of in preparation for our interview in a month. I read somewhere that NVC sends a letter to the petitioner after they send the petition on to the embassy. So far, I have all of the information that I need but never received any kind of letter or other notification from NVC. Is this normal? Do I need this letter for any other process in this journey? Does such a letter even exist?

I may just be overthinking this.....but you never know. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

are you talking about the letter that says your appointment. we received ours like 2 weeks before interview but i was told you do not need it to enter the embassy. and if i remember right when i was in line the only asked us our names they never asked for the letter

Just want to wish everyone a merry christmas and happy new years. Good luck to all with up coming interviews.

sandra has been here now for a week and she likes it but all we have been doing is running around looking for stuff for the wedding

she paid for them at the ticket counter for continental airlines

I spoke to my fiancee this afternoon. Her new passport will be ready for pick up this afternoon and she should have all of her lost documents replaced by tomorrow except for the cedula. She does have a contraseña noting that her cedula is being replaced. Does anyone know if the contraseña will be accepted in stead of the cedula at the interview?

She also got 2 of the 3 mandatory vaccinations done. Does anyone know how much Dr. Roa charges for a Varicela vaccination? She was quoted COP$150,000 in Santa Marta. For someone with health insurance (me), this seems like an awful lot of money for a vaccine. Maybe I'm wrong.

happy to here she's getting passport soon and papers. as far as vaccines go if you get off that cheap you are lucky. I can't remember how much I paid but I know we may much more than that and had to do it twice.

Sandra is in bogota now ill meet here in huston Fri afternoon I am soooooo excited

I thought Seattle was all about rain. My other half is coming to Albany, NY in Jan or Feb. She says that she likes the cold as she has been to Bogota. I just smile. I bought a few warm coats, sweaters and am looking for one of those blankets with sleeves. I fully expect to pay more for heating than I have in many years but I will do what I must.

Sandra said she likes the cold but well see. it snowed here during thanksgiving week. But Snow dosent last long here. I heard a lot of people don't like the blanket with arms they say it is very big

Something I learned from my ticket purchase for her/my trip next month... In the past, when I bought my round-trip tickets, Jetblue always collected my exit tax and included it in the ticket price. They told me that since I purchased all one-way trips for this trip, the departure tax would be collected upon departure in Bogota. Something to do with the tax being dependent on the amount of time you have been in Colombia. Because they are aware of your total time in Colombia on a R/T ticket ahead of time (barring any changes in itinerary), they can collect it for those R/T fares. But, for one-way ticket purchases, they make no such assumptions and leave it to the day of the departure flight.

Best to check directly with the airline (and it wouldn't hurt to have sufficient COPs on hand either, just in case.)

Personally, I'm counting on the $66 USD tax for her (in Colombia > 60 days) and the $33 USD tax for me (in Colombia < 60 days) but I'll have more than that ready in COP. The worst that can happen is we'll bring back a couple 100 thousand COPs and use them later on a future trip.

Good luck this week, Kenny. Hope everything (the weather) goes well for you guys.

Thanks everyone for the info ill make sure she has extra

who charges the departure tax ,is that part of the ticket because with continental I paid part of that and wonder if I have to pay again ?

Anyone have any experience buying a one-way ticket OUT OF Colombia for a Colombian and/or an American?

I'm just curious because I bought our airline tickets today, a round-trip for me and a one-way for her BUT to be able to be on the same return itinerary, I had to buy myself two one-way tickets. I noticed that the taxes on the 2-person return itinerary are much (like 4.5X(!) instead of just 2X) higher than my round trip taxes have ever been and now I'm wondering if they have charged me the departure tax at the rate for a Colombian? Maybe they are just higher in general when the flight originates in Colombia? The ticket website never asked for our nationalities. What if they collected her departure tax but assumed she is American because my address is in the US and didn't charge enough? Will they just collect the remainder at the airport? What if the taxes are too high because they assumed I am Colombian because the flight originates there? Will they refund mine if, in fact, I overpaid?

I've made this trip 7 times solo in the last year but never really thought about any of these issues before...
[/quote I bought a round trip ticket which is cheaper than 1 way ticket. I also bought a round trip ticket for me with no problems. I also heard that columbian exit tax they still make you pay even though you have paid your taxes already. I think this happened with ken and liedys ill see what happens Dec 10
