However, you should be including more than JUST pictures.
If you have any boarding passes from the flights you took, copies of conversations, proof of sending money, etc, you should send those things as well.

actually, if you include a letter with the 1040 paper submittal (no-efiling for you this time)
that clearly states the two of you are ELECTING for your spouse to be treated as a resident alien for tax purposes,
you CAN use his SSN in the tax paperwork.

The letter must be signed by both of you.

Hi and thank you for your response, let me just understand you, write a letter that goes along with my 1040 simply stating that we would like for my spouse to be treated as a residential alien for taxe purposes, just state that and we both sign the letter and take it straight to the IRS , do I include his SSN along with this letter. Is his SSN issued by US? If so, he can use it. Otherwise he has to apply for ITIN.

SSNs are for life, so if he has a SSN use that to file your taxes and consider yourself lucky that he does have a SSN and does not need to file for an ITIN. The only other question is whether to claim him as a legal resident for tax purposes or not. That one is up to you to decided based on income and tax consquences. Please read the IRS information carefully.

Have that many copies because it is usually a MESS to get more copies in Italy later down the road (hello... 3 trips and 10 hours at the communa, broken photocopier, feria, the correct person not being available to certify...so on and so forth.... welcome to business in Italy) ... Much easier to get the copies now!

No, you just need to send your marriage certificate with the I-130. Make sure you get about 4 or 5 originals of the marriage certificate.

Staring the DS-230 form to early

the title of your thread is for ds-230, yet here you ask about the ds-3032, they are 2 totally different forms. The DS 3032- you can prepare now and have the beneficiary sign, it is the chioce of agent form. The ds-230 is the IV application form, you should wait until the time is closer in case anything changes. Good luck

Yes you can get everything ready but dont put a date on it. Have him sign it but you can put the date on it. I have all my husband papers sign by him already and I told him dont put a date on it. DS-230 have him sign the first part but not the second page. (Dont put a date on it)

Its always a good idea to prepare in advance. And like the previous poster stated sign do not date. I had my husband DS-230 filled out a year in advance.
You can gather everything you need but the police report. That you should wait until you actually get your NOA2 depending on the expiration time for your country.

Staring the DS-230 form to early

Hi everyone, I just want to know if it will be too early to get the form DS-3032 done, I am the USC, I recieved the hardcopy for NOA1 so we were wondering should we start that form and he send it to me now or should we wait till the NVC stage, I am wondering because he has the info already and I know you have to sign one part of the form and leave the other blank for the Consulate, will they look at the date on it and say something about it cause the date will be early as suppose if we wait for the NOA2 approval. Just curious cause he will sign it and date it and want to know if they have a limited time for you to do that. Thank you for your response.

The Certificato Generale del Casellario Giudiziale is a certified national record of final court convictions and decisions regarding mental incompetency and bankruptcy or a statement that no such record exists (Nulla).
The Certificato dei Carichi Pendenti is a certified record of pending criminal charges, or a statement that no such charges exist, from the office of the Procura della Repubblica in the applicant's place of residence.

Both certificates can be obtained from Procura Della Repubblica local offices in beneficiary's residence.
Note: you need to be at least 3 months registered resident in the that place to request "Certificato dei Carichi Pendenti" from local office.

First option is fastest one.
It takes only one week but who requests it must show up in person with personal ID, one photocopy of id, one office stamp for 14,62E and one for 3,54E FOR EACH CERTIFIED COPY.
So for NVC stage you need 2 stamps (marche da bollo) for 14,62E and 2 for 3,54E and two photocopies of same photo id.
I guess you will need to have additional set of these certified copies for an interview, but I am not sure. (please correct me if I am wrong).

The second option is handy if one resides abroad.
The written request letter is required to request both certificates, you can find template somewhere in other posts.
You will need these stamps in the envelope or equivalent value in cash (Euro only) to cover all fees along with photocopy of a photo id and with a stamped self-addressed envelope.

I got mine 6 weeks after NOA1 hoping they will not expire before NVC gets them

_> send either the original marriage and birth certificate (long form) or government issued certified copies (from the same place they issue the original, they can make u a copy of the original that looks a lot like the original
- if u choose to send teh original marriage and birth certificate, make sure to bring those copies to the interview
- if u choose to send the copies, bring the originals to the interview
-> make a simple photocopy of the marriage and birth certificate that u decide to send
-> copy of his passport bio page, normal photocopy
-> 2 photos 2x2 inches
-> ds 230 form that he has to sign, only part 1 should be signed

go to the nvc page and find out if there are specific requirements for documents from italy

-> include certified translations of all documents, except the passport page, since it is already in english, plus photocopies of the translations, just in case

Yes, original copies and the translation of them. About the birth certificate he can go to the "municipio" and get as many as he wants for free or at least that's what they told me in there. I got 2 copies of the certificate where there are information about my parents too. If I am not wrong there are 2 different kind of birth certificate, one just specifies the day and the place of birth. The other one specifies the name of parents, the place and date of birth.
Also make sure to get 2 police certificate. One is "casellario giudiziario" and the other one is "carichi pendenti". What's the difference? I have no idea but that's what they ask.

I'm sorry I don't have precise answers to your questions but I thought I'd share what I learned in the process so far.
Anyways check the reviews about the consulates. A lot of people gives more information than just about the interviews.

We are just preparing ourselves for the next step just getting what we can done now, my question is when my husband sends me the DS-230, and the DS-3032, and all the things he needs to send me do he have to send the originals such as our marriage certificate, and his birth certificate, and also photocopies? Or do he just send me the photocopies of all the originals and he saves the originals for his Interview when it comes up. We did read the Shortcut for the NVC process but just want to clarify this before he sends me what he needs to. USCIS approves the initial petition, then sends it off to NVC. After sending off all the needed NVC docs, they, too, will approve their portion of the process, before scheduling the interview and sending it off to the embassy or consulate. At the embassy/consulate you'll get the final approval or denial - it's really them who get the final say in whether you've been approved or not.

Read up on all the links Darnell posted. They'll get you ready for the NVC steps.

When you guys say "call the NVC to get the number" what do you mean? How am I going to get the number? On the phone or they'll send an email?
My husband said we don't need to call anyone and they'll send me (the beneficiary) a letter that given me the information needed to pay the taxes and the document I have to send.
Can you guys be more specific or give a link where I can find what happens right after the approval?

Hi I was a bit confued as well at first probalby looking too hard into it, but they are saying the NOA2 is the # they use and to call NCV and give them that # to see if the NCV has your case# and your case to speed it up alittle instead of waiting on them to send the paperwork in the mail hwich can be awhile if you wait on them.

NVC will give you a consular casefile number.

the uscis receipt # is needed, when calling into NVC, to obtain the Consular Casefile number.

The NOA2 number has your USCIS case number and sometimes your A number. Neither one is your NVC number. When you call the NVC to find out if your case has been received, give them your USCIS case number and they can look in their system to see whether they have received the case or issued an NVC number.

Barcodes are absolutely still issued! Right after you pay the IV or AOS fee, you should see two options: one to print out the barcode sheet, or another to send it to someone's email.

How long after AOS Bill?

You have a year before the case is considered abandoned. The year is counted from the last contact (phone, e-mail, mail) that you had with them.
