US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK-1 Visa, What is a marriage?
Another option would be to do a civil ceremony in Canada now, file for you CR1, then you can do the church wedding in Canada in September like you plan, and hopefully not too much longer (relative in the visa process) be together in America.

Also, when you start the visa process your fiance will need to be prepared to show ties to Canada when crossing the boarder for weekend visits. Some people have no problems and others have problems, again it is all hit and miss.

CanadaHow would Oregon Unemployment know I was in Canada?
my sister was collecting unemployment in OR, she came to visit me in Uganda, and filled online weekly still. I think when you do that the IP address and location must come up on their computer. She had to pay back for all the time she was out of the country.

Karenlou, Thanks that is helpfull! he has sworn in, with his 2 year. So I think they will let him go to basic. If USCIS returns the packet we will just resend it when he is in AIT, qith a signiture card and passport photo. I think it will be okay.

I did send in his enlistment papers, but yes, I am starting to think the army should have given us a written order. I am guessing if they really want it before he leaves they will. Over all I think it will be okay, if we have to wait till July and refile, I am okay with that, I think he can get a finger print card on base during AIT. Thanks everyone for your help. I will keep you updated on if they send my packet back to me, or if they process it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 and the Army
Catt,
Yeah, I am annoyed that the recruiter failed to mention this earlier. His recruiter was the one who said we could file now, My husband called USCIS and they verified that he could file now.
I am trying to get as much info as I can. My Husband is AWFUL at asking questions and getting information, I keep trying to stress to him how important is we get as much info as possible on this from his recruiter. I guess we will find out how big of a deal it is to them when he goes on the 22nd.
We have filed, so we will see what happens from there…worse case I guess they will just send it back to us.
Thanks for the info!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 and the Army
Just Bob, Both the USCIS and the ARMY said we were allowed to apply early because of this military status, so that wasn't the question. We would have had no problem waiting, I was planning on filling at the 90 day point, just have my husband (not my son) sign the papers before he left. But, we were told by the army to apply before he left, they know of the 90 day rule. So I am sorry but I think you are confused.

The Army said as long as he had applied it would be okay...but we might get a difrent story when he gets to MEPS on the 22nd. He would be really dissapointed if that happens,so I really hope that doesn't happen. Praying that either they let him go, or that the "active Militray" at the top of the application gets us expidited.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 and the Army
So my non-USC spouse joined the Army in December. He leaves for basic March 22nd. His 2 year GC is going to expire in September (He will still be in training). The army told us on Monday night that he needs to apply for his 10 year before he leaves for basic (I wasn't there but is seemed like they even wanted him to have his 10 year when he left...IN TWO WEEKS!).
I love working with government organizations! why no one thought to mention this to us in December, when we maybe would have had a hope of having it before he left is on me. I scrambled and put everything together and set it overnight on Tuesday. They told me to send it in and write ACTIVE MILITARY on the top, which I have done. But, by looking at time lines, I don't think there is even a chance he will have his biometrics appointment before he leaves. I am afraid that he will leave for basic and then we will get his biometrics appointment after he leaves, which then he will not be able to attend. Needless to say I am a little freaked out…anyone have any experience with this??

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 March 2011 Filers
Can you add me? We sent ours in to VSC on 3/8/11, our situation is a little diffrent as my Non-USC spouse is joining the army...the army told us we needed to send in the packet early. So we sent it in with an expedite request, as the army would like him to have lifted condition before he ships out in 2 weeks. Yeah right, like that will happen, I wish the army would have told is this 5 months ago, when my husband signed his inlistment papers, instead of Monday night!!

PhilippinesWhat has your adjustment to life in the USA been like?
I am the USC, but I have lived oversees for 3 years. I think it is normal to go through culture shock somewhere in the 6-9 month mark. You just are sick of where you are and want home. The most important think I have found for my self is to mentally remind myself that it is culture shock and then to just push throw. It ussally only last about 2 months at the most and then I go back to enjoying the foreign country. I also thinking not going home for atleast the 1st year makes it easier.

The most important thing to realise is you SO is going to have some culture shock, and I think ussally it is a delayed reaction (doesn't happen right away), but just be supportive through the hard times.

Philippinesi was rape
Has anyone heard from the OP since her 2 posts? I am really worried for her!!!
I am praying she finds the strenght to tell her fiance. I know culture came come into play at a time like this, in America we are tought from a young age that it is not our fault if we are raped, I have been to countries where children are not taught this and women are afraid to tell thier SO if they are raped because he would leave them. I do not know about fillipino culture, but the OP needs to understand that he finace will most likely understand, be on her saide and be very upset with the man he thinks is his friends. OP, belive me, they will probablly not be friends after this.

Your fiance will be very hurt by this also, but the issue only because worse the longer you waite. If you hold this inside you will probablly pull back from your fiance emotionaly and physically, and if he has no understanding of why this is happening it will leave you with out the support you so greatly need right now!

My heart goes out to you, being in a new place and no support system to help you through this. PLEASE tell someone!!! tell you SO, call a couslor, call a church, find someone to help you through this. This is NOT your fault, you are NOT to blame, you do need support, please reach out to someone.

Also, I think in her first post she said she made a new screen name to post this, which I think emplyed she was on VJ before this but under a differnt screen name. I am not ussally in the Philippines form, does her story sounds familair, recent K1 comming to live in CO?

So this thread is for CSC August filers only right? The only reason I am asking is because i would like to be able to look at the timelines for those filers at CSC.

This is.. a rather slow thread that gets forgotten a lot more often that the other August one. wink.gif

Feel free to check our timeline. We're waiting and waiting.

I just read about that one person whose NOA2 arrived in 43 days... so I guess VSC is ten thousand million times faster than CSC. Grr.

There was one VSC K1 that was approved in four days last week! I was happy for her but I sure wanted to throw something and scream for my self *guilty blush*

from what I understand a "touch" is just a date change. on the site, it means your file has been "touched" for some reason. this early in the game, it is probably just being put in a file box :-). My date changed to one day after my NAO2, but i think it was just being filed.

If your check was cashed and you have online banking, depending on your bank you can get online and check the numbers on the back of the check. You are looking for a number that says WAC (if you are at CSC) you can then use that number to sign into uscis.gov website to check the actual day of NOA 1. I think my packet was received on Aug. 4, NOA aug 5, and then I received the hard copy NOA on the 11th. So for you CSC people with checks cashed should get your hard copy any day now.

Thanks for that info! We tried looking online and there is no image of the check yet. So I guess we're going to have to wait for the NOA1. Are we able to find out by calling the USCIS?

I don't know about calling. I thought I read some where that you can't call till you have a case number, but I don't know.

confession: I am a big geek, I couldn't read the numbers on the back of my check, and I wanted to know them ASAP, so I could look online, so I called my bank to see if they could see them better, they could and that's how I got the number. So you could maybe try that.

Welcome to all the Newbies!! Wishing you a speedy and smooth process!!!

Glad you all are having success....good luck moving through the process. Hopefully us Vermont filers will catch up with you all soon.

It goes back and forth, for a while VSC was approving in 3-4 months while CSC was taking 6...so it really all depends, I think VSC is typically faster to approve, so there is still a chance you could have your NAO 2 quicker then me, even though I have my NAO 1 first. It is really all up in the air.

Praying for speeding smooth process for all of us!

Did you talk to an actual person at the NVC? The reason I ask is because if you use the automated service the K1 applicants are not in that system, So you have to talk to a real person.

Yup, I talked to a live person, she said it ussally takes 2-4 weeks but could take up to 90 days. UG!
