K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA#2 August 6th and now Sept 27 still no NVC

You can try contacting the consulate instead of just trying to show up there first. Also, the info here on VJ states it is a long wait till interview > http://www.visajourn...Ghana&cty=Accra

~ Moved from K-1 Process to K-1 Progress Reports- topic is case status/progress ~

I believe this is very outdated, current wait time at Accra is about 4-6 weeks so it is even more important that you guys find out where the heck your packet is and when the interview could be! One girl I talked to almost missed her interview because they waited for the embassy to contact them, so keep at it, keep on calling NVC and email IVDVACCRA@state.gov with petitioner and beneficiary first and last name, birthdate and ask when she can come and pick up the packet at the embassy. They may have you forward her the email and print out the response and take it to the embassy...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports40 days since NOA2...still waiting for next notice :(

CSC is taking an incredibly long time (6-8 weeks) to transfer cases to NVC. They are pumping them out so fast, NVC just cannot catch up. So don't worry, there is a lot of us in the same boat you are in. My NOA2 out of CSC was on Aug 21 (approved in 58 days) but the backlog is just creating problems. And the State Dept/NVC will keep processing these as usual, I've spoken to one State Dept. official and one NVC employee in the past week about the shutdown and its effects on processing (and of course my file :)) and both said the same thing- it will have no effect (this doesn't seem right to me but I guess we will see). Another VJ member told me that the USG has been using private contractors so the same 'nonessential shutdowns' do not apply to them, just furloughs, which many I suppose have already been through this year... Sooo you should be through soon, Good Luck to you!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 approved AUG.27,2013 and Still waitng?

CSC people are taking forever. Yours should be up end of this week/early next... my NOA2 was Aug 21 and I got my case moved to NVC last Thursday (Oct 3). So your case should be coming up here any day now!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCASE FINALLY MOVED TO NVC--> NOA2 AUG 21 out of CSC

I got my case number last week on the 9th, but whenever I check the ceac website it just says, "invalid application ID or case number".

Anyone else experienced this?

Are you sure you wrote down the correct case number? Could you be missing a letter/number? The case number should start with the first 3 letters of your consulate followed by numbers, mine starts with ACC because my consulate is Accra.  When I type mine in on ceac it comes right up... it has read 'at NVC', 'in transit', and now 'ready' with information about scheduling the interview. I hope it works for you!! It is comforting to see it on ceac and have piece of mind...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCASE FINALLY MOVED TO NVC--> NOA2 AUG 21 out of CSC

Just curious, did any of you get your NOA1 from Overland Park,KS?

No, I got mine from the CSC. I have never heard of USCIS having a service center in KS... is that just a lockbox location? Or is your file actually being serviced there?

Ours was on 29th Aug.. so trying to make some guesstimate

I called DOS, it is much faster and they are a lot nicer! I assume you will be in the next week :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSputum test on OCT 21,22 and 23, 2013. 2 sad months to go!

If he/she is not coughing up bloody sputum, feels like he/she is dying, then he/she does likely not have TB. If the area on the lung is not from the car accident, it could be an infection from a very long time ago. Anyone with TB KNOWS they have it, it's miserable, difficult to breathe, and you feel like you are dying...

Yeah, how about email? do you have an IVDVlondon@state.gov or something like that? When I email our IVDVaccra I usually get a response in 1-2 business days... and instead of receiving things via post they can put it in an email instead.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow we get the case number by letter or calling?

It will take some time.. mine took 43 days to get to NVC and get a case number. Be patient, they will get it eventually!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSCIS to NVC time frame

The service centers seem to be on different time frames when it comes to sending out the cases to NVC. Mine was out of CSC and it took 43 days for it to get over to NVC... Looks like you are TSC so maybe you will have better luck. And calling DOS is much faster than calling NVC, same info but NO holding time! :) and just an FYI, once my case got to NVC it was gone off to Ghana the next day for us!! So if you do have a wait, likely NVC/DOS will be quick to send it out!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHelp please: K1- DS-160 question about vaccinations

The k-1 does not technically require vaccinations before entering the US (says this on the state department's website), maybe you could put something along those lines? Maybe 'vaccinations not required for K-1 visa, I will obtain these in the US as required by US law when adjusting my status'. I had my fiance get his when we first sent in the i-129f so he fortunately is covered.. plus they are cheaper in his country than in the US ;)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresplease help!

Yeah, sorry but you getting the tourist visa are slim to none. You basically have to be very, very wealthy with a high paying job to be issued that visa, me and my fiance learned that the hard way... hardly anyone gets them :( Sorry again. Can she come see you? There is literally no one you can ask to be the joint-sponsor? They can live anywhere in the US and be a citizen or LPR...

reneegh724FemaleGhana2013-09-08 13:56:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureshow do I cancel this whole process and retrive my valuables??

My-oh-my!!! Looks like you are so very close! You can do it, keep waiting, it will TOTALLY be worth it in the end! I'm not sure what country your husband is from/your origin country but when I get depressed and pissed at all the waiting I just think of the military wives all over the world who have to say goodbye to their husbands leaving for a conflict zone and perhaps may not see them for 6 months or 1 year or maybe 2 even. Or worse-- perhaps NEVER see them again... I am not implying that your situation is easy or anything, I know it is not from my own experience, but it could always be worse. I know my fiance is safe, happy, has a roof over his head, and friends and family that love him in Ghana, so that keeps my mind at ease... maybe that thinking could help you get through one day at a time. At least it works for me ;)

This process is terrible, and long, and frustrating but you can do it! :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSame -Sex Bi National couple getting married and need advise!

Maybe email the consular section in Accra and get their advice for what you could do? Expediting the visa could be a last option (either the spousal or fiance). I am sorry for your troubling situation... definitely DON'T do anything illegal. Or you and your wife will never be together in the US, you will be the one living in Ghana to be with her. You in a way are lucky, the situation is bad of course, but not as bad as it used to be in Ghana years ago...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSupporting documents for K1 visa

Oh Thank you sooo much for your response! I am a little worried because I only filled out one tax return for the past three years, it was thankfully 2012 so I hope this will not be a major problem. I've taken classes year round, and in the summer, and travelled (how I met my fiance), so 2012 was the first year I actually had an opportunity to work for a few months... I do own a house and a nice car, should I include that in my letter/memo to the consulate, in addition to all of my mom's information?

My mom is part owner of our family business which, thank God, has done well even through these financial crises so I hope her information will suffice. Thanks again for your help and I will definitely figure out this private messaging system for future questions :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSupporting documents for K1 visa

Hello all! I am so grateful for this site and all of the encouraging stories and advice shared on a daily basis. And the explanation of this process along with statistics and other information is so incredibly helpful, even in this very beginning of my journey!

So to my question-- I have read through the I-134 instruction form and see that there are four categories (bank statements, tax returns, letter from employer, and stocks/bonds value),  listed for the supporting documents to prove financial support for the foreign fiance. Should we (my mom is our cosponsor) include all of these documents? Or just one? Or as many as we see fit? And I guess this brings me to another question-- Should I include a letter/memo as to why I am not the sponsor for my fiance? I have been in school for the past four years and recently graduated, this is why my mom will be the sponsor.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, it is so very much appreciated goofy.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage License

Hi all! I was wondering what people recommend for marriage licenses-- I live in Ohio but was considering doing a funky little wedding in Las Vegas-- we will then have to get the marriage license in Nevada correct? And then if this is true, will this make dealing with AOS/USCIS/SS office more difficult? Because we will be residing in Ohio and filing here but the marriage license is in Nevada... Sigh. I am so clueless, thanks for all of your help!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForm I-134 Inquiry

Yes!! The I-134 is NECESSARY! I am new to this visa process but have searched, and read, and searched, and re-read here on VJ and also the State Department's site- you must have it!!! They will deny the visa if you do not have it. The whole point of the I-134 and supporting evidence is to show that the foreign fiance will not become a public charge of the United States, and the form, along with the evidence you attach is the way to prove this. It is even written in Part II of the DS-230, where the consulate fills out- something along the lines of "Will this person become a public charge of the United States of America?" and if the consulate believes this to be true your visa will likely be denied.

I don't believe it matters if he owns a house or anything, as long as he has a decent income (at least 125% of the federal poverty level in the US). Have him fill out the I-134 to show his income, include tax transcripts and pay stubs. If he does not meet the 125% of the federal poverty level, perhaps have him ask his mother to also fill out the I-134 as a joint/co sponsor, many embassies allow this. So then she will technically be responsible for you (along with him and herself) and it will show you will not be a public charge.

And just to clarify-- You do not just hand in the I-134, it's not that they want that OR the pay stubs--- they want BOTH the I-134 and the supporting evidence that the document asks for-- they go hand in hand with each other, the tax transcripts and pay stubs PROVE what is written on the I-134.

So for an example for you, my situation- I am having my mom be our co sponsor, so with the I-134 she will include her tax transcripts, a letter from her employer saying she has been there over 20 years and is part owner of the business, and a few pay stubs, just to be safe. She might even give her bank statement. And then I will also fill a I-134 and a letter explaining why I am not the sponsor (have been a student the past 4 years), and why my mother is. I hope this helps. Browse the VJ forums, you can easily find more information on here, it is very helpful... Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures1ST TIME TRAVELLER? K1

A wonderful Ghana VJ member, Marissa (and now I call her my friend!) sent me a very specific, step-by-step guide from your departure at kotoka to baggage claim in the US. I will message it to you now... she has even included pictures with all of the information! So you can see what/where you are going and what things look like :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGetting Cold Feet about submitting!

I did not include a ring (don't like them, can't wear them- I'm a massage therapist), or have an engagement ceremony or even a formal announcement. My i-129f has already been approved (58 days at csc) and I will be at his interview with him at the embassy.. perhaps you may want to do the same? - Instead of going for a third trip for the engagement ceremony/ring thing, can you plan to just go to the interview? After reading posts/threads from VJ members it appears it is highly unlikely a person gets denied with the usc at the actual interview...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiling i-129f

Did you already file the I-129F with USCIS here in the states? THAT is your first step in obtaining the K-1 fiance visa to enter the US.

If I have misunderstood, and you have already been through USCIS, DOS/NVC, and your file is at the embassy in Accra and you are just waiting on the interview- some of your supporting evidence would be all of your contact with each other since you have met (phone logs, chats, skype history, text messages, emails, letters, evidence that she has actually been in Ghana with you-photos, passport stamps/visa, boarding passes for flights). As for the co-sponsor TAX TRANSCRIPTS FROM THE IRS ARE A MUST FOR ACCRA. This has been stressed to me from my fellow Accra VJers numerous times and posted in some of the embassy reviews. It also helps to have most recent pay stubs and letter from employer in US stating the co-sponsor is still employed/stable.

Not sure about the F-1 situation but from browsing the forums it doesn't seem to be a big deal AS LONG as you did not lie on any application materials or make any fraudulent attempts at obtaining a visa. Same for the B-2, as long as you haven't lied on any State Dept. documents or applications you should be fine. Keep browsing the forums or enter in search terms and lots of things will come up, this website is a gold mine and you will likely find answers/reassurances from many of the wonderful people on here, I know I have. Good Luck!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmy fiancee 17yrs older than me

This; in my opinion, is very dangerous advice.  It's like telling someone going to the Arctic Circle to forget the cold thing.

OP- Yes the age difference will be an issue at the consulate.  You should be prepared to deal with it, start preparing now.  Your faith in god will not sway the consular decision one bit.

Very sound advice, you should follow this and not God the CO uses facts, not faith to determine visa outcomes.
