You don't need to set an appointment sa USEM. Go to the USEM as early as 8:00AM and your legal capacity will be released mga after lunch. Pasyal ka muna sa Robinson Manila :). That's what we did. Also, true you need to wait for 10 days to have a date of your marriage whereas kami we did not. We do it the other way around pero legal. What province ka ba? Me kasi from QC, and I was able to help a friend din with the same situation.

PhilippinesXOOM Phils/Phils from USA bank

My fiance is coming over to the Philippines on June and he is planning to bring with him a couple of dollar cash..he is also considering the option of sending to western union to me before his arrival to freed him from any risk..what can be the best and safest way? He is thinking that it will be a inconvenient for us to keep withdrawing in the ATM machines later on the reason he wants to bring it as cash..He has a debit card in the US but i dont have any idea how it works here in the Philippines... thanks for any inputs!

If I may advise not to bring any dollars when going to PI or maybe bring just enough no more than 50$. If he has a debit card, have his debit card link to her bank account. I assume her bank account has an internet banking and from there he can transfer money and withdraw fron any atm with visa, mastercard or cirrus logo, thats option 1, another option is send money to your bank account which you will be use during his stay in PI.

PhilippinesFilipina wife issues....advice please...

im sorry to hear that scott..
all i can say is help but know your limitations...
if you dont have so much to give then stop and say NO!
let her realize whats the reason why shes there with you. is it because you love one another and wanted to start a new family of your own? orrrrrrrr stay there with you and keep sending money to her family and make your marriage life miserable?

hmmm yup what his brother did was disrespectful :bonk: and an eye opening to you that you better stop sending money coz they think your an atm machine that whenever they need money they'll just enter the pin number and the amount and there you go money is on there handss..
you can help only if you have alot but if its just enough then u better not  ...
hope everything will be a ok. with you and your wife.. :luv:
have a nice day scott..
:D

Although I am a Filipina, I agree with the opinions and the advices. I know it is a hard earned money. If it is not that important and it's not necessity don't give in. Let her lear her lesson. Honesty, I only ask money from my husband if need to. I've been married for almost a year. I feel so embarassed asking money from him since I got a good job, a good position and a good pay. But there are times, i am out of the budget and I will not directly ask him, but he will be the one to ask me if I need something. He knows when my payday is :)

In your situation, talk to her don't get affected with what his family would say. Your husband and wife and you have your own family already. Just a 5 cents of thoughts :)

PhilippinesSnail mail question
omg 5 months? lol maybe there is still hope for the bday card i sent him last june :-) i sent it via regular mail from makati to his apartment in california and he still has not received it! if the address was invalid, they would have returned it back to the sender. so i was told :-( though im pretty sure i had it right. i had no idea why it never came. it was supposed to be a surprise for his bday. :-(

on the other hand, i sent a card a few months before that one that never came and it took about 20 days. regular mail should just take about two weeks. im not sure if the delay was because i sent it inside a military base. im just glad he got it!

the one sent on a regular residential address he never got to see

In mid-2009 we mailed a small package from interior Mindanao to Portland, Oregon via Philippine post office. Just to be cheap - instead of using FedEx (Air21)... After several weeks we gave up hope and figured it had been plundered. After a few months totally forgot about it. Nearly 5 months later it arrived in Portland in perfect condition, sealed with no indication as to cause of delay! Was a huge surprise to say the least.
I figure it just sat there at the post office Philippine style - like waiting for a jeepney to fill up before heading out... :D

ps. sorry for the earlier empty post. im still tryin to figure out how to use the forum via the iphone app :-)

PhilippinesCan some one translate this from tagalog

This has been reading like a textbook of red flags for foreign marriages.

One of the affectations about Filipinas I like is their romance. They splash pictures of their loved one all over their facebook along with quotes about how they can't live without them. They put music to it with love songs and pink background, etc.

Not all of them of course. It is a general tendency, and that seems to be the kind of woman you would cherish.

Instead you have one that doesn't put a single picture of you up on her site - everyone in the universe EXCEPT you. Talk about a slap in the face!

It isn't just a matter of her not loving you. She dislikes you.

There are numerous problems with trying to smuggle pictures of yourself onto her facebook indirectly. She isn't even acknowledging your presence and like a puppy dog you're jumping up on her trying to get attention. A person loses their dignity, their self-respect, and the respect of others this way.

You deserve better, and it is never going to come from her. It will come from one of the millions of other Filipinas looking for a guy like you.

Ditto. I could not have said it better. What he said about FB - is exactly what I do and most people I know will do (except for the pink background & the music- that's bordering on excessive cheesiness. j/k :) ) I am proud to show the whole world (of fb) how much I love him as he is proud to let everyone know how much he loves me.

But seriously, why are you turning a blind eye on all the red flags and continuing head on? Have you even told her your doubts? Foreign or not, this shouldn't happen on a "normal" relationship. IMO
crystal01FemalePhilippines2010-09-17 09:17:00
PhilippinesCan some one translate this from tagalog

I saw the engaged but she did not put engaged to <name> I see that many places but she did not write my name. Also, she has pictures of every body in the universe except me ...cheers...

Maybe you can ask her to put your name?

As for the pictures, do you have any with both of you in it? Why don't you upload it in yours and just tag her so it shows in her profile. If she removes it.. that means something.

Facebook may seem trivial but simple things like these acknowledges your role in her life.
crystal01FemalePhilippines2010-09-15 07:51:00
PhilippinesCan some one translate this from tagalog
I didn't understand what exactly was said as it is a dialect other than tagalog but based from the others' interpretation and the context on why it was said, it does look like a harmless FB post. It is true, we get excited like that and get giddy and happy over relationship updates in FB specially if two of our friends got engaged on the same day ( I can speak for myself and my friends :-))

I noticed you mentioned you weren't sure if it's you she was referring to on her relationship update. To be sure, you can have your name linked in FB. You can see that option in the same place where the relationship statuses can be updated. So you'd see (name) is engaged to (name). Clicking on the name brings you to the person's profile.

On another note, I have seen your other posts and the red flags you are seeing in your relationship. As someone who is on the other side of the coin as you( the one being petitioned) I am very much aware of what other motives women can have in entering this kind of relationship aside from love. This is a big step for both of you. Do you see yourself living the rest of your life with one sided love? Do you think it will be enough for her? How long do you think it will last?

I can't imagine myself in that position. I wouldn't commit myself, move halfway around the world, leave my family and friends, and learn a different culture if my heart and soul is not fully committed in the relationship and if I see a hint of doubt or sense something wrong with my fiance.

Again that's just my opinion. I hope you have a heart to heart talk with her and lay out all your doubts. Set your emotions aside and use your rational mind in figuring her out. I can see you are a very good person and deserve someone better than one who doesn't trully love and care for you. I hope you are not just settling for something less.

I wish you all the best. :)

PhilippinesTanduay Mini Oak Barrrel
Hi Guys!

So this is my first ever topic here and it is not even visa related but I find you guys very helpful so it's worth a try

I've been racking my brain for a Christmas gift I can give my fiance that he'd really like and since he loves drinking Tanduay so much (yes, he travels to the nearest Seafood City once in awhile just to get the cheap 5 year ones) I thought the Tanduay Mini Oak Barrel would make a perfect gift. (Don't worry he doesn't really go to this site so we're safe, please dont tell! LOL)

Here's a pic:

Posted Image

Tanduay Philippine Rhum
In mini oak wood barrels
80 proof - 1.5 liters
This 18-year-old rhum is poured and sealed in an authentic mini oak wood barrel that preserves the exclusive and exquisite blend of the best Philippine sugarcane varieties.

So I've got several questions..

1. Does anyone know where I can buy this particular Tanduay (aged 18, mini oak barrel) in the US online? Google isnt really a big help.

2. If I buy it from here, can I ship it via FedEx/ DHL/ any other shipping company? It's 80% proof and just 1.5 L. Ive read it's considered dangerous goods if it's more than 70% proof and more than 5L. So is this allowed? I also read you can declare it as a gift..but is it really possible? Any experience doing this?

3. If anyone here from Manila is going to the US before Christmas and kind enough to bring this small box with them on the plane and arrange for delivery before Christmas, I'd pay for the trouble! Just any help pleassee

4. Are there liquor stores you know in the US selling this? If yes where is it?

5. Can I arrange for some kind of money transfer and have you buy it for me pretty please?

Err I dont know how easy or hard this is.. I have already emailed the distributor I saw on the Tanduay site for the US and will wait for his reply, hopefully I hear from him soon!

If this proves to be too difficult, Ill just settle for something else but I'm pretty sure he'd love to have this so I wanna do everything possible to get it for him :help:

PhilippinesIs it wise to teach a 41 year old Filipina to drive?
Well you've said it yourself, "I know the fact that my ex is a bad driver dosn't prove Judy would be a bad driver"

Have you asked her opinion on this? Does she have the desire to learn?

My grandmother learned to drive when she was 70+ years old. She lives with my grandfather and though she doesn't drive often because my aunt who lives nearby does it for them, she can if the need arise especially if it is an emergency. I think it is a necessity to learn how to drive. More so if there is no reliable public transportation where you are from. It gives them mobility to go where they need to go without being entirely dependent on my aunt.

I don't think age is a good gauge in knowing if a person will be a responsible driver or not. Besides she needs to pass the driving test which entails having a knowledge of driving and knowing the relevant rules and laws. More importantly, you'll never know when she'll need it in case something happens..

hi everyone!

its quite a while that i did not visit VJ and post. due to my busy schedule preparing for my interview. I had my interview last friday sept.26. thanks god everything went well. the interview was so smooth and easy. the only time i fell nerveous when i was alraedy outside the consul's office.but i was fine. my husband is there he give me his support and prayer. his not allowed to inerview the consul's office. for me it was not a big deal. i knew it already. i know god is with me. but after few questions from the consul he told me to let my husband inn. that moment i was thingking that there might be problem here.because why he need my husband there. i was looking my husband outside and i was really thought that the consul will make a split interview. But the consul just said " this lady said that you married to her" then he laugh and said okey you are approve. just want to see that the married is not fraud. we are so happy to hear the word A P P R O V E D. but eveything thing will not become possible if i have not put the whole trust to god. i know along the way we encounters problems. but i still have the complete trust and faith to god. specially my husband he always assure me that everything will be fine also because he trust god and believed on him.
