PhilippinesQuestion on marrying in pi
Hi,

Visit this site for the requirements. It is helpful as me and my husband married in PI before he petitioned. Wedding Requirements

But in our case, my husband did not wait for 10 days for the application. When he arrived in PI, the next day we went to Manila US Embassy for the Legal Capacity (just don't remember if we got it the same day), after getting the the Legal Capacity, 2 days after we got married :).

PhilippinesCR-1 From the philippines and a stepchild

We are on the same boat....no issues encountered during the time that we were in process of our petition. Everything will be turn out fine. Go ahead and file. Just ensure all the documents are in place and authenticated.

Philippines6th gear, a 'faux' wedding in the Phils and upcoming EM interview

Hi Rob,

You have to check:

1. Does the document (showing that your "wife" is still single) authenticated from NSO?

2. Does the one who does the ceremony is allowed to do so? Registering the wedding in PI will took like 2-3 months, but mine only took a week :)

You have to double check carefully because if the Mla embassy saw that she is married definitely it has an impact to you K1 visa - when I got married in PI, I was petitioned. My husband filed a CR1 petition since we are already married

If in the case that your "wife" document shows that she is single better get an authenticated CENOMAR from NSO.

Just my 5 cents.

PhilippinesTourist Visa for Parent/s - 74 yrs old Mom, leaving alone in PI....

My Mom just got her interview today 8AM Mla time. She was almost 2 hours inside the US Embassy. They got her passport, no paper that was given to her if needed more documents.

Questions were:

Q: Ano ang work mo before para mapatapos mo ang anak mo sa kolehiyo? (What was you work for before so you can send your daughter to college?)

My Mom: Meron akong business (I have a business)

Q: Ano ang trabaho mo ngayon? (What do you do now?)

My Mother: : Wala, ang anak ko ang nagpapadala ng pera sa akin. (None, my daughter sends me money)

An interpreter came:

Interpreter Question: Kelan mo balak bumalik ng Pilipinas? (When do you intend to go back to the Philippines?)

My Mother: End of March 2015

Interpereter: Oh, siguraduhin mo na babalik ka sa Marso 2015, at makakaalis ka kasi sayang ang visa mo. (Make sure that you will comeback by March 2015, don't waist your visa.

When I checked the Non Immigrant Status: It's on Administrative Processing "Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved after administrative processing, your passport will be delivered by our contracted courier to the address you specified when you booked your interview.

Hopefully, my mom can get her tourist visa :)

PhilippinesTourist Visa for Parent/s - 74 yrs old Mom, leaving alone in PI....

I will be three years here in the US. I want  my Mom be here apparently, i will still need to have my US citizenship before I can petition her here. She is 74 yrs old. I am her only daughter, the only person who's taking care of here is her second cousin but sad to say her cousin will be going back to Bacolod to take care of her spouse. Please advise on what to do and what are the requirements to have my Mom get her tourist visa.

She might not be approve with the Tourist Visa because of the ffg.:

1. I am the only daughter and now here in the US, The USEM might think that she will not be back in the Philippine if the will approve her of the tourist visa

2. My mom doesn't have bank accounts or any assets. We will just be inviting her to come with us but will shoulder everything. I don' think that USEM will allow her to come with us. We don't have any intention to have her be one of the illegal staying here in the US.

I really want here to be with us, but the dilemma of declining the tourist visa keeps on bugging me.

Any suggestions / advise wil be gladly appreciated.

Thank you

PhilippinesU.S. Embassy Manila NBI Clearance Investigation
I got the same case. Speaking on my own experience. My NBI annotation is also "NO CRIMINAL RECORD" and I was given a 221(g) to acquire the Letter of Explanation from the NBI. NO CRIMINAL RECORD status means that you may have a pending case from the court that was filed and not dismissed, you the same name with criminal case. Anyway, I was interviewed August 5 and got my visa approved September 9. This schedule i got is based on my own experienced:

Interview - August 5

August 8 - I went to NBI and showed them my 221g and they told me that I should bring the letter of request from USEM for them to process the document I need. FYI, the people from NBI are very accomodating and it is not true that they are asking money to fix your documents. Always bear in mind that just always be honest and dont bribe.

August 9 - I called USEM and ask the status of the letter, they told me to wait for two weeks and I will receive a letter (snail mail) from them.
From August 9 upto August 22 - every other day I kept on calling the NBI - I AM THE VERY PINAKAMAKULIT
August 22 - I called USEM and they told me that they are ready to send the snail mail and they told me that I can also pick it up and go directly to the NBI to have my interview (yes, the NBI will interview you because of you NBI annotation. The same day I went to the NBI, handed them my letter from USEM and they advice me to go to the Quality Control for the interview). Aske them when they will send the Letter of Explanation and the interviewee told me the same week, Friday, August 26

To be honest, I had a dismissed case from Manila Trial Court and prior to my interview and during application I already gather all the pertinent document needed (since I have a "NO CRIMINAL RECORD" annotation and during the time I got my NBI I ask them the information - take note I AM REALLY PINAKAMAKULIT)> I did not hire a lawyer because it will cause me a lot, so i do it on my own. When I got all the documents, I also sent them to my husband to include it to my CR1 Application form.

August 30 - called USEM and inquire if the letter of explanation has already been sent to them, OLA! its with them already. The lasdy i talked to told me to wait again for about 2-3 weeks to get the status of my visa.

August 30 - September 6 (exclude Sat/Sun) - I called USEM and to my dismayed the status of my VISA was stil on process.
September 8 - Called USEM again for the status - stil in final process. So I freak out and vented out to the lady. I told her the journey i went just to complete and comply for the requirements. Yes the CO did not told me if I am approved or Not. He just told me "All my documents are ok, maligayang paglalakbay".I also told her that I just received the letter of explanation just last September 6 so if I waited for the snailmail, I've waited for another 4 weeks, 1 month to be exact! (Oh well I freaked out but talking to her nicely anyway).
September 12 - - I called USEM again. GOOD NEWS is our VISA is APPROVED! (me and my daughter).

Anotherr waiting game is the delivery. Since I am the PINAKAMAKULIT, everyday I called USEM and 2Go for the Visa Delivery sad part is mine isn't with 2GO yet but my daughter's visa is already in transit. If I havent received mine this week, then they will receive and everyday call from me, lol.

I suggest that you checked with NBI why she got the annotation of "NO CRIMINAL RECORD" and if there's a need to get the documents, do it asap.

I can help your wife/fiance while I am still here. Just be persistent to call USEM and NBI.

And back to the topic, I still stand to what i believe in, that if one is capable of getting what she wants expensive or not, it's okay if she has her own money. My business is about selling branded stuff from the US, so i can't make any contradictions. Lol

Let's just respect each person's individuality.

This is absolutely nothing personal. While i am aware of everything that's going on in my country, I don't approve of people blaming everything to the government. I see people rallying everywhere, instead of thinking anyway they possibly can to help themselves better. It's annoying to watch. Wherever you go, there are corrupt officials. There will be people abusing the system like what you were saying. It's just a matter of how you view things in your own perspective and act accordingly. If you want to help, help in any way you can. If your neighbor doesn't have anything to eat or someone who's sick and needs help, you can, if you are capable.

I understand everything that you are saying, we just don't share the same point of view, that's all.:)

I am not trying to judge. Please, don't get me wrong. I don't know if you understand how food stamps work, but normally, people who can afford to buy a Mercedes would not qualify. That was the point. If she plans on giving food to the homeless out of charity, she should do it on her own dime. Using US citizens' tax dollars to feed self or others is not charity. Now, about those people on the streets. This is where logic comes in. People with enough money, no food stamps. People on the streets, food stamps. No, I care about "wherever" my money goes. If I want to contribute to charity, I will. That is what makes it charity. I have no say in what the government does with my money. I am not against welfare at all. I am against people whom don't need it and take it the same way I am against people whom would enter my home and decide what they would like from me.

Okay.
soon2bmrsandersonFemalePhilippines2012-05-27 01:12:00
PhilippinesFinances and Such ... Philippines

And please, don't tell me how I should feel about something I know about. I can make my judgement out in the open all I want. You know why? This is politics, and US politics for that matter. I get that freedom to make judgements on how my money is used. What I can't do is tell another person from another country how they should think and/or feel about their government welfare systems and/or corruption no matter how much I might know about it.

The more you give, the more blessing you will receive without asking. So, stop worrying about it! There are people who contributes more in their society other than paying taxes, and yet, you won't hear a thing from them.

At least ? got what I was trying to say. Do u realize that your coach bag is a brand name? I will admit that some work hard. Their days are usually 10 hours and working 6 days a week. Some will work weeks straight before a day off for p35/hr. I was saying that someone was making counterfit Levi's. It wasnt from the actual distributer.

LOL of course i know Coach is a brand name, silly! That's why i am making a statement that it's not true that we only go for brand names but for quality, too! :bonk: :ot2:

 Everything is an emergency as well because they wait until the last minute. No planning ahead, no saving for the bills that will be due soon. "Send us money now, because the bill is overdue." Or, "The examination is in the morning, and if you don't pay, I can't take the test."

But they all have the latest smart phones, and brand name clothes.

Haha She's probably overly dependent on you!

This makes me think of a woman the other day whom bought food with food stamps yet drove off in her Mercedes. A lot of good brand names do when you can't afford to eat. I'm sure the down payment alone would have fed her for months. It's sad what some consider a priority, but what is worse is that our tax dollars get to pay for other people's poor choices and abuse of the system, Yay!

Don't be too quick to judge. You wouldn't know if it's for herself or plans to give it away to people who lives in the streets. Who knows? As long as you don't know the person, you can leave your judgment to your self. And hey, wherever your money goes, aren't you happy you can help?
soon2bmrsandersonFemalePhilippines2012-05-26 09:52:00
PhilippinesFinances and Such ... Philippines

Filipinos, if they come into any money they will try to live like a king for one day. They don't care if they are poor the next day. They have a lot of pride, too. As was mentioned, they care about the brand name only. Levi's over there are knock-offs. I met one guy making the counterfits. Money goes a long way there, esp in certain islands. Manila, is mahal. Boracay, mahal. A coconut from the market in Boracay is like $3 US. I know one small market it was p15. It was p45 at a larger market. They will make due with whatever you send.

Don't generalize Filipinos. There are just those who are capable of spending money for extravagant things, it is because they strive hard to earn their degrees and work hard for it everyday. It's definitely not for everyone. Filipino cares for the brand names only? Not true. I have a specific favorite Coach bag that i often wore. I have had it for almost 3 years now and it's still as good as new. And as for Levi's, if you tell me it's not of good quality, you'd be fooling yourself. Just sayin'.

Hi Jack and Jewiel, I'm the beneficiary and I'm from the Phils too. In fact, the place where I live is just an hour away from where you live. Let's start keeping each other posted about our cases. Me might get approved at the same time. It would be nice to have a companion on the medical exam at St Luke's and the interview once we get our NOA2. :)

Hi Doug&Ice i'm glad if we get our NOA2 at the same time.i hope we can get it soon and i like to have a companion too. Please lets keep intouch.God Bless.
