We got our Case number from NVC and they sent us an RFE, and we responded quickly to that. It was something very very small. So we are just waiting for our interview date to come thru. I am hoping it will come soon. I am not sure I understand all this paper shuffling. To me with all the technology that we have, there should be one central system where each section will have access to it, and you put your information there. When one section is done, they put in a code, and the next section is notified it's ready for them, then when they are done, they put in their code, and so on. This mailing of the original paperwork and copies is just stupid. There are people already in the USA that have fraud marriages and deceive the system and are broke when they marry, but yet that is allowed. It just seems like we are punished because we fell in love with someone that is not from this country. If they NBI says they are clean, then let it go. If you are worried about fraud, flag the visa for four years to receive no public assistance. That is not that hard. This being apart for a year or more while this process takes place is just stupid and just does not make sense to me. And have the automated system up and working, and give each stage a code. From one to ten for instance. Each section has a limited time to look at it, and it moves on. This whole process should not take more then 75 days and I am being generous. Really should be sixty. You call hear the stage you are in and you can have a great idea of when you are done. Once the USCIS approves you, then you should be home free. Some people just want to be together, that is the bottom line, nothing more, and they should make that happen. Sorry for the rant, but this waiting is just sad.

For us, she used me, cause my internet is just better, and faster than in the Philippines, so it looks like it is moving forward. So I just pray it will continue and pray that everyone else is and will go quickly.

I am just happy to say that we received an email last night that our I130 was approved and the notice is in the mail. I am hoping that I will get that today or tomorrow. It was transferred to the California Service Center. It got transferred there on November 25. I know that it will still a long way to go, but at least it is progress, that is really what I want to see. So I am hoping that all these transfers will make things go faster for everyone, and best of luck to you all.

I also filed in August, and I know that I have a while before I receive the NOA2, but my thought is this, with all due respect to K1 Filers, why are the CR1s taking so much longer than the K1 Fiance visa. I mean we are I-130 filers are already married, and some longer than two years, but yet, the visa we apply for is taking allot longer to get approved and our WIVES or HUSBANDS here. That just makes no sense to me, that the process even takes as long as it does. I mean to me, this can be done over the phone, and completed within an hour. I just do not understand. I know there are allot of people filing and I get that, but this is just the worst process on the planet. You make a call to see if the person is a criminal, and to the other country to see if they are a criminal, check the docs to make sure it's legit and move to the next one. What, they only process just one per person a day?

Applying for the K1

Hello,

Our original plan was to get married in her country and the file the I-130 & K-3 petitions. But we wouldn't be able to get married until the end of November of this year. The ultimate goal is to get my S/O and her children to the USA as soon as possible so we're considering the K-1 petition.

My S/O is from the dominican republic and has two children from two different men and has never been married. I noticed a section on the petition to include both the children. I'm thinking down the road if we'd hit any road blocks. What can we expect as far as problems moving formward with this petition. Or should we just wait to get married the end of this year?

Other questions that I have are:

a. what petitions are needed for the children or is putting them on the K-1 petion automatically include them?

b. is there anything special requirments needed from the fathers of the children or does the mother have full rights to what's best for the children? To my knowledge, the fathers are not involved with the children at all.

I'm travelling this weekend and would like to make sure I have all the necessary documents for my fiancee to sign. Other than the Fiance_Letter_of_Intent & the g_325a are there any other documents needed for her signature?

We did not provide additional sheet but we printed our first conversation on YouTube when he sent me first messages introduced himself to me, included date and year back in 2008. It was sufficient enough for USCIS, I guess, since we did not get any RFE and got approved in 38 days. Good luck!

On the I-129F application, Part 2, Question 34 & 34a.

34. Has you fiancé(e) met and seen you within the 2 year period immediately preceding the filing of this petition?

34a. Describe the circumstances>>>>........

My questions are:

1. Does this mean that we have to maintain a relationship for a minimum of 2 years? Or a personal visit must happen within a 2 year period?

If he is in Canada on a work permit then he is there legally. Why does Canadian immigration have his passport, was he trying to renew or get a different visa in Canada? He should be able to contact them and ask for his passport back.

They told him he would have to leave the country right away if they give his passport back to him. Weird!

K-1 NOA2 Approved! Next Steps...Questions!

Hello all! After 5 months of waiting, we finally received our NOA2 dated May 6 with no RFEs! We are anxious to get the process moving faster since the situation in Ukraine is so uncertain at the moment. Please help with a few basic questions!

1. Do I wait to receive a letter from the National Visa Center or can I call? If so, how soon can I call? Will they provide me with the KEV number?

2. How long before the paperwork is in Kiev and we can schedule an interview appointment?

3. I am unemployed (but looking), have almost enough cash in the bank, but plan on having my brother co-sponsor. For myself, I plan on submitting the Affidivit of Support 3 years of tax returns, bank statements and letters from the banks. Since I do not have an employer at the moment, I can not submit a letter from an employer or payslips. As for the co-sponsor, I plan on submitting the Affidavit, 3 years of tax returns, pay stubs, and bank statements. Is this enough or does someone have suggestions of anything else I can provide?

4. For her medical exam, it states that 3 full frontal view 50mm x 50mm photograps are required. Are these the standard "passport" photos or something else?

First off, I truly appreciate the wealth of info that this site has provided so far. I really need some advice here!

I recently got engaged to my Ukrainian girlfriend of 1 year. We met each other 2+ years ago while she was in the U.S. on a J-1 visa. I have since gone to visit her 6 times in the past year. We were about to start the K-1 process when I just became unemployed last month. I made $100k/per year the last 3yrs and have 100K+ in savings. I am now starting the employment search process, but not sure how long it will take before I find another job. I am confidant I can find a financial sponsor thru my parents or brother.

My questions:

1. With my employment situation, can I still go ahead and start the process for the K-1?
2. With my employment situation, is it better if I return to Ukraine and get married and apply for the K3 when I return?

3. Should I use an attorney?

All responses are HIGHLY appreciated as I am worried about the application getting approved. THANK YOU guys!!!!

Hello All....kind of a dumb question, but I am a little confused....I am gathering up together our I29F package for my fiancee who lives in Ukraine. My question is, when does the "proof of ongoing relationship" come into play? Should I submit this proof now with the I-129F, or is it more important when she goes for her interview in Kiev? I was planning on including SOME proof of our relationship, like copies of our engagement announcement on Facebook, phone records showing international calls/texts and the engagement ring receipt. Questions NOA2 & Assets for sponsorship

Hello All! Couple of questions please!!

1. We received our NOA1 at the Texas Service Center on 12/03/2013. On 12/13/2013, the "Alien Registration Number" was changed when I checked the USCIS website. We have still not received NOA2. When can anyone suggest I start inquiring over the phone? Should we be concerned?

2. Assuming I had to use just assets (currently unemployed, but searching for a job), what is the amount needed assuming just me and my fiance? Is it 3X or 5X the 125% minimum poverty guidelines?

3. I have not claimed any unemployment insurance benefits so far. Do you think this would be wise to do or not considering the petition for my fiance?

Sorry, but they need the originals. My fiance (now husband) used FedEx. Costed him 100 USD. I guess it took less than a week for the papers to arrive in Kyiv (where I lived) from Washington, DC.

Depends on the embassy I guess, but ours said that photocopies were preferred.

She will be doing the interview in Kyiv...I have been trying to find info on what is ok to send for Kyiv but have come up with nothing. Would be great if someone could let me know if they accept copies in Kyiv as FedEx is expensive (I know, I know it's part of the process, but why spend $200 if I come to find out the embassy accepts copies!)
