so my wife went on Thursday. Reached the embassy at 1:30...was out by 2:30 with the VISA.....oh my God!!! After a year of this crappy process,it is finally over.. Thanks a lot to everyone on VJ. I wouldnt have gotten through this without all the advice and support.
Then we bought her ticket and out of all the airlines, we chose AIR FRANCE....So we all know what happened with the whole Ashes and airport closures. So the utter happiness plummeted pretty fast. Her flight got cancelled but some good persistent hounding of the airport officials and she got put on a direct flight from dubai to Usa. I should be seeing her in the next 12 hrs. I will update you guys with her POE experience.

It's sad, but I have to confess that I come to this forum everyday, open the spreadsheet and look at all the blue colored cells of all of us journeyers who've received their visas...and it brings me a little comfort of being at the top of the list of those who haven't. Here's to good news coming soon - we're seeing a good trend with Mohammed after 13 months! Hope Zaheer, Dee, and Brahim are coming up soon - with 5 and 4 months respectively, can't be long now!

Maybe it would be helpful if we also tracked who is in AP at the embassy and who is in mandatory AP in 'Washington' (i.e., name checks)? SOrry to be a geek about this, but then we could really do some metrics on the average length of time....

Ok ill start ap at embassey level as of dec.14th 2009.4 months seems like a short time compared to some of the others.I am finally learning i must wait.So im settling in for the long haul because i know that ours is not going to be anytime soon due to how horrible our interview was.But i am waiting and cheering all of you on.And sending out prayers for each of you.Good luck

We got a responce to the senators inquiry and it doesnt sound good.im scared as hell.i will try to post it here.ok it wouldnt post but here is what it says.Thanks for your inquiry.Our office is still working out some issues regarding mr. xxxxxx eligibility for a visa to the united states.We recently got a message from Washington and are preparing a responce addressing their concerns.Once we get a more definitive answer we will relay it to you. So, today DOS called me and left a message and returned my call regarding my inquiry. Told me the same that we are in AP and they can not predict the time it will be complete. But, it was nice that someone returned my call and looking at our case. Congressmens office told me to give it 7 more days since the consulate has been updating me weekly.

Just wanted to update .We are still in ap in sweden.Something weard.Someone keeps calling my house from Larkin Parker my caller id sayes .They hang up when i answer.Been calling for 2 weeks.I know they did this to me at nvc level to see if my ex husband didnt still live with me.weard...Hopefully we all get some good news soon.

Has ayone here been deported from the country they were seekin asylum in after their interview.We tryed transfering our case but sweden wouldn't transfer it to iraq until we are out of ap in sweden.Now our attorney says we will probably have to go thru another interview in baghdad.Will we have to go thru ap again?Somehow the embassey had his permission to stay in sweden til our visa was finished revolked by the swedish police.They called my fiancee back to embassey saying they need to speak with him one more time so he goes and they call police to come get him .Then run out and take pictures as they handcuff him.He was detanded 1 week then released.Two weeks later they come to his house and tell him he must go back in 2 days to iraq .The put him on the plane and he goes back.We have now been in ap for 2 months.Im afraid for him there.Will they deny him now after we wait no telling how many months.Would we better getting married and filing k3.I dont know what to do.Any advice or answers? Or just someone in the same situation that i can talk to?

Well I got more bad news today - after waiting the entire five months for them to approve my November petition - I emailed then called the NVC to find out the status of my application and I now have a BKK # but it is in "administrative review". After I read about Administrative Review I called the NVC back to confirm that I'd been pulled for security screening and the lady basically confirmed it.

I am obviously very upset but I'm hoping someone here can clarify for me since my searches yielded conflicting results. At least one thread said that they could still possibly mail the petition to the embassy, my fiancée could get packet 3, finish her interview, and then she would have to wait for the security checks to clear? Does the fact that I have a BKK number from the NVC help?

Mike try calling you congressman,we were stuck @ nvc for ap and i had them do a congressional inquiry and we were out the next day.We are in AR now at the consulate and there is nothing they can do for us there. But it can help at the nvc.Good luck

Well it is about time....I hear alot of horror storys about people getting denied.And how bad it is there.I think they should hold these people accountable for their actions. I know they are just trying to protect our country but some of these people play god.They have a power trip about their job.And they try to get you to admit to things you havent even done.It is terrible.I would love for them to have to live in our shoes for a few months.We were treated so bad at our interview.Well id more like call it an interrigation ,seeing as 7 men drilled me for 2 hours before they would even give my fiancee an interview.Then they did the same to him the next week.It was so bad.Then we were told you are aproved pending your background checks.It has been 5 months and our congressmen says they haven't even done any background checks.Its bull...and im glad someone is going to look into it at least at your consulate.Congrats on getting some action.....Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Thanks for the note Bridget. I agree- it doesn't make sense. Have you thought about asking a congress person to get involved? Make an inquiry as to what is happening and why. Really, you need answers and it doesn't sound like the US Embassy is giving you any. That, to me, is unacceptable when they put you in this position of not knowing what is going on. So now Sweden just threw him back on the streets but kept his identifications? He has nothing? No papers? No passport? Have you called the DOS to ask about his status?
What does your lawyer suggest you do? Wow- Hopefully someone else reading this can give you some ideas as to where to go with this.

There are many Iraqi refugees that fled the country in fear. My SO is one of them. It is sad that they are treated the way they are in other countries. Your situation could easily be mine. My prayers are with you.

I have 2 congressmen involved but havent found out anything so far.The police came to his house today to speak with him and said they will be sending his paperwork to the immigration judge for him to decide if alen must go now or if he can wait in sweden til his ap is finished.If the embassey is even working on it.Im not even sure if the consulate will give him a visa he was so rude and mean.he has no papers ,id or passport.The embassey still has his passport as far as we know.Congratulations on hearing some good news or your own.My prayers are also with you and your family.

If you go to my posts you will see where i had to speak with the consular before they would ever interview alen. i was grillled for 2 hrs by 7 men.I think alot of the problem is that one of the days alen called the embassey to check on his interview date someone else called the embassey and threaten to bomb it or something.They had me lisen to tape of the calls to see if i knew the voices but it was in swedish and i dont understand swedish.alen speaks english when he calls because he loves using english .i explained this to them and told them if they would go back and lisen to all his calls then they would see this.Also the police came and spoke with him about the embassey threat and cleared him.So they should have known he was innocent.But when he went to his interview they spent the 2 hrs they interviewed him asking him questions about his callls to the embassey like they were still thinking he might have done it seeing as he is the only Iraqi applying for a visa in sweden.It makes me so angery.He is christain and i havent heard of any christain terrorist.duh....Any way they took his passport and said we were in ap but that he would recieve his visa once that process was over.So we left excited...Then they email him a week later after i fly home and say they need to speak with him again.So he makes the 5 hr. trip to stockholm again.When he arrives for his interview he is told to wait in line then they call the police to pick him up.the police take him.He calls me freakin out from the police station they dont telll him why he is there . then finallly they tell him he is not legal ,even though his has a current id card from immgration and a letter saying the immigration will allow him to remain in sweden til his fiancee visa is processed.So the police take him to a deportation holding center.He remains there for a week.The police finally release him but keep all his ids .They give him a paper and say they will contact him.he is free to go .So now we know nothing .We dont know how or why the embassey somehow got them to revolk his id and premission to stay or what we dont know what to do .If he should return to iraq and finish his visa there .Or if they will finish processing his visa in sweden or what.The embassey will not repond to our emails or to our lawyer.We have know idea what to do or where to get help ? I am so embarrassed and ashamed of these ppl at the embassey.Here is alen never even had a speeding ticket.And fusses at me for speeding ..lol And they treat us both as criminals...I hope to god they find whomever did threaten the embassey so that nothing bad happens.But it wasnt alen i know this for a fact.They day in question when he called the embassy my friend and i were on web cam and lisening to his call so there should be know question as to his call .he has 2 witnesses and all calls are recorded to the embassey so it should not even be in question.I think they are just doing this because he is Iraqi.It makes me so sad that all are guilty because of others crimes from there .Not all ppl from iraq are terrorist.This is so sad.I do understand they are tryin to protect our country but come on why would i bring a bad person here when i have family and friends whom would be harmed if my country was bombed or destroyed.Why is it a crime to love someone from a country that is at war.He fled his country from fear.

my fiancee is also from Iraq but has lived in sweden almost 3 yrs..he applyed for assylee stadus but was denied.they policeman handling his case said he would give him time to get his visa to the us done.we had our interview and it was so bad.they kept his visa told us we were in ap.then he gets an email saying they want to speak with him again at the embassey.he goes back .and the embassey calls the police to pick him up.For some reason they put him in a detention facility.He had a valid id card saying he was legal and a letter from the migration board.we think the us embassey called and had sweden immigration pull his permission to stay.they let him out after a week but kept his id .the embassey has his passport and want respond to our emails.we dont know what to do or even if they are still processing his visa.they were so mean to us.we were interrigated for 2 hours each by 7 men.i felt like a criminal.My husband is christain. and has never been in any kind of trouble.he scared as hell and so am i .The lawyer told us they wouldnt even give him a visa if he wasnt a legal resident in sweden.so now i guess he must return to iraq and go thru his interview again there and ap im sure for god only knows how long.im am so discussed and embarrassed that my own government treated myself and my future husband as if we were criminals.good luck to you.

well just wanted to let yall know we are still in ap in sweden.a few days and it will be 2 months...i hate the waiting ...They didnt deny his visa at our interview,they just said we had ap for additional background checks.can they still deny you if your background checks come back clean.or our we approved as long as they come back clean. this whole process seems to be a big nightmare so im still so scared something will go wrong.we already both had 2 hr interrigations that they said was a normal interview.I dont think it can get much worse but you never know.now our attorney says we will probably have to interview again once they tranfer his case to iraq.i wonder if we will have to go thru ap again there.they want transfer his case from sweden til our ap is finished there.I guess im just scared.i miss him so much and now hes back in iraq im afraid everyday for him.I pray this ap gets finished soo.plz keep us in your prayers.
